I noticed a few fans here.

I'm up to episode 8 on this series, and so far I love it, the plot is intresting and the anime itself is dark and twisted(though it's got some light humor in it) I love all the music, except of "Love Me"

My favorite charactors are-
1)Tsuzuki
He's so cute, I love how he gets those doggy ears when he's happy n_n and he's summons are awsome.
2)Hisoka
3)Watari(I think that's his name?)

Yey!!! I'm not a fan of yaoi/yuri types of anime but I loved this one. I've finished the first season and I thought it was a refreshing and new idea. I'm just sad that the ending was a cliffhanger. My favorite character is of course Mr. Nice Guy Muraki.

BTW I loved the opening theme Eden...

I wonder has anyone seen Yami No Matsuei?..the anime is now being distributed by....central park media(i think)..its called Descendants of Darkness. It s a wonderful series about the Shinigamis of Japan, particularly the one in chrage of the kyushuu area Tsuzuki Asato and his partner Hisoka Kurosaki. THe art is to die for and the author, Yoko Matsuhita, has*shocker* a fashion sense!!! all her character's are impeccably dressed. The manga is much longer than the manga . I think it is better becasue the chracter development is wonderful and the meifu side stories are just plain halarious Also the plot is funny, angsty, mysterious and sometimes just plain disturbing. Of course evil Muraki is the best thing to happen to villians since...Char...
So if you have seen/read it what do you think? And does anyone know if the manga series will continue because it doesnt really end..

I own the Descendants of Darkness box set. It's a lovely series, although I suspect that it wouldn't appeal much to those who aren't fans of shonen-ai. The first three episodes are beautifully done, with gorgeous animation and nicely detailed character designs. In fact, watching the show made me think that its creators had poured all of their money into the first story arc, since the quality of YnM's fight scenes decreases somewhat drastically in subsequent episodes.

The
sword fight between Hisoka and Okita (is that his name?)
is particularly disappointing--I almost couldn't believe my eyes. It's as though the director suddenly ran out of creativity and decided that a
poorly animated hack-fest
would increase the audience's eagerness for the show's climactic moments. All of the other battle sequences, however, are more or less satisfactory.

Yes, I also adore Muraki. His dark past and sheer sadism combine to make him one of anime's most entertaining villains. In fact, I'd say that he singlehandedly saves the series from descending into utter crappiness, especially during the Kyoto arc. He also provides most of YnM's shonen-ai content, which in my mind is definitely a positive attribute.

I've just seen a couple episodes of it...) Anyway..the music is nice too.. especially the opening... (who sang that?... )

I also enjoyed watching YnM!

Tsuzuki is soo cute! Tastumi is yummy, and Muraki...well...he's not easily described.

I really hope that the manga gets licensed for the US, because it's good!

I absolutely love the artwork in the manga--everyone just looks soo much better in the manga than the anime.

All in all, good stuff!

"The blonde-haired guy with the green eyes" is Hisoka Kurosaki, Tsuzuki's partner.

I also enjoy Yami no Matsuei's music. I believe that its opening, "Eden," is sung by a group called To Destination (but I'm not completely sure of this, so you might want to verify it elsewhere). YnM's ending theme, however, leaves a lot to be desired--it sounds too fast, too rough, and altogether rather sloppy. This is a shame, since it's accompanied by such beautifully colored manga images. I would have preferred a gentler-sounding song, something more along the lines of X-TV's soothing ED.

*laughs* The first episode I watched of Yami no Matsuei was episode eight, I believe. I guess that sort of got me pretty interested. ^_~.

The artwork in the series is really gorgeous and the storyline is played out well. Unfortunately, I haven't seen the whole series, but about six episodes so far. Hisoka sort of gets me annoyed for some reason, he reminds me of a snotty, rich British person...even though I'm supposed to feel sorry for him. >_>;;

What happens in #8? I know it's part of the Tarot arc, but I can't remember which events are specific to that episode.

To tell you the truth, the Tarot mini-saga is probably my least favorite of YnM's four story arcs. Its cliched premise bothered me (as did the introduction of a female love interest), although it does contain plenty of Muraki-related goodness.

Despite the fact that Muraki doesn't make a single appearance in the Devil's Song arc, I had a lot of fun watching it. Who wouldn't enjoy seeing Tsuzuki
a) display a bit of tasteful nudity, and b) come on to innocent little Hijiri?
He acts quite unlike his usual self, that's for sure.

heh.. I didnt think that YnM was shounen-ai...just proves how corrputed i am..>.>...I think that the cutest arc in the story must be the Hokkaido vacation arc in the manga...why?...
hot springs=naked bishies=blushing Tatsumi and Watari...^__^
...I thought the best dramatic arc in the story was the Nagasaki Vampire one.
Because you meet Muraki and learned about all the perverted things he did to poor hisoka*laughs evily*
It's your choice if you want me to tell you, I just want to warn you that it's definately doesn't give away any plot spoilers but then you'll know what happens as sort of...tiny side-plot. *shrugs* It's not like telling someone that part in Cowboy Bebop.
Tsuzuki and Hisoka are investigation a problem [involving Muraki] on an expensive cruise ship, and Muraki makes a bet with Tsuzuki: To play a poker game. If Muraki wins, he gets to 'have Tsuzuki' for the night, and if Tsuzuki wins, Muraki would give him some information on the case. Muraki wins. ^_~

I have seen Yami no Matsuei, but I have yet to buy the series even though I want it soooooooooooo much. >glares at mother< There's a manga? Who is that distributed by?

I kinda wish the series was longer, but it was excellently done. I like Watari the best, he's neato! >thinks on what to say< The whole concept of the show is very strange. It was fun trying to explain why the characters don't die. I also liked making corny jokes during the show. "I'm going to kill you!...Again!" ^_^;;;; Lots of puns there. I only made the jokes after I had seen the series once. Yami no Matsuei is on my top three anime list and I have seen most of it over 14 times. Never gets boring!

btw, Dagger, the swordsman in the Kyoto Arc that fights with Hisoka is named Oriya. I really like him, so I thought I should point that out.

I don't think it's been licensed yet. I haven't been following the manga, though, so I could very well be wrong.

So do I. It seemed as though the creators had deliberately left it open for a second season. While I'm not sure that a sequel will ever be produced, I would certainly welcome one. I, for one, was disappointed that no actual relationships ever developed, despite the show's numerous shonen-ai hints.

That's the one! Thanks for refreshing my memory. ^_^ Oriya is a very unconventional character; I love his clothing and his devotion to Muraki. I wish that he had shown up earlier in the series, since I'd love to know more about his background and relationship with everyone's favorite evil doctor.

Yami No Matsuei was seralized in Hana to Yume but its on hiatus now...not sure if it continues or not. It has reached 11 vol in japan with a few xtra uncollected chapters. I THINK viz has picked it up. The other day i read in Animerica that viz will release it. Since Animerica is a Viz magazine its probably true.
When Luminaire mentioned puns. I should point out that in the manga the author purposely uses the Shounen-ai cliches and at the last momnet shell either break the tension by pointing out that *hey this is a girl's manga* or just going to super deform. Its quite cute.
One of the best arc's of the series i would think is the St. Michael arc. It was NOT animated because of the heavy heavy yaoi(^__^) content but its very sad and wonderful. For scanlations you can go to www.sakura-crisis.net. The work they do is almost professional.

That had me cracking up. XD
I was thinking. The character Terazuma, I don't remember much about him, but he had to have been important for something. >is having a mental blank out< Was he the one with multi-personalities? He was a shinigami, right? I can't remember! >_<

you sound like my mom....>_>

I find a few things wrong in your post. Your opinion is based off what others have said, yet you have mentioned things that have yet to be said. Satan worshipping? I see no one calling on the power of the devil in Yami no Matsuei. Most of the show is based off mythology.

I haven't seen any nudity except a topless guy or a guy in a robe in YnM. So where that comment came from, I have no idea.

Violence, yes, there is violence. If you want to comment on something and insult it, at least have accurate information to back it up. Watch the show and then let's see what you can say about it and its relationship to pornography.

Oh, and Hitler would probably not help much either. The comment about him was what really annoyed me most about your post. It makes your post off-topic.

A topless guy? As in only wearing a t-shirt?

Shame, young woman. I would suggest becoming familiar with being a true woman instead of a peeping whore.

A topless guy is a man without a shirt on. You need to consult a dictionary. I did a double take for that. Shame on you.

Are you some kind of feminist promoting the "true woman" in all women?

Now I wasn't going to have a problem until you called me a "peeping whore". You needlessy insulted me on a topic that is not at all involved with this thread. And what if I told you I was a guy? If you want to make an issue of this, PM me instead. Don't ruin a perfectly good thread with spam. And, please, go read the rules before you post spam and insults in a thread. And, what makes you so special that you know what a true woman is? You have to be a feminist.
That whore comment was totally uncalled for and it was unnecessary. Oh, a 15 year-old whore...what is the world coming to? We could have had this argument peacefully, but, you have ruined that option. You just had to insult me. You had no right to call me a peeping whore.

Now, on the topic, Watari's experiments. Does he ever finish that sexchanging potion and get the directions down? I didn't think he did, but I wanted to make sure.
