I STRONGLY recommend that you at least breeze through my prior Black Horizon RPG before signing up for this one. It's also highly recommended that you see the movie Event Horizon. It's not a requirement, but will definitely sway your chance of getting into this RPG greatly to the positive side.

Benjamin- "I'm sorry... Who?" Allen looked at him with sad, bewildered eyes.

Allen- "What? Satell. Where is she?" Gooseflesh had broken out across his barely clothed body. All the lights suddenly seemed to bright. His breath caught in his throat, adrenaline dumped into his heart sending it on a galloping drum line. His face went pale. Sweat sprung from the pores on his forehead. Benjamin leveled his eyes, a spark of humor deep inside of them.

Benjamin- "She's dead. When you blew up the ship, you killed her. She bled out like a stuck pig in that escape pod. You should have seen it. She must have screamed as her skin peeled away like the bursting hull of the Bladerunner. The stench of spilled blood was terrible. You could have saved her." He advanced on Allen, clenching his fists until small streams of blood coursed out. "All you had to do was leave the ship. You knew it didn't have enough fuel for much travel. You knew that everything would have died eventually after Ruben was gone. You could have stopped the Self Destruct. But you didn't. And it's YOUR FAULT SHE'S DEAD!!!"

Allen sat bolt upright in his bed, wincing at the slight pain in his shoulder. His covers were soaked with sweat. He stood slowly, legs shaking and vision blurred slightly.

Allen- "Oh God... Not again..." When they had first gotten back, Allen had begun having the dream. It never could be predicted. It always came on without warning, sometimes even intruding on other, more pleasant, dreams. But this was the first in nearly two years. He had blamed himself for not realizing Satell would die with the ship. She had asphyxiated when the Bladerunner was punctured. Then had fallen ill when it was infected. Why hadn't he figured it out? He sighed and splashed cold water on his face. "I need to talk to them..." He dried off and walked into the main room of his home. The building was modest, two stories and located in a nice wooded area of southern Canada. He reached for his phone, bringing up the number of Van Ambrose in his head. It rang. "Jesus Christ!" He had jumped at the unexpected call and stubbed his toe. The phone rang again. Allen picked it up. "Hello?"

Sam- "Allen? That you?" Allen searched his mind for the voice. It came without much trouble.

Allen- "Sam? Yeah, this is Allen."

Sam- "Are you ok?" He rubbed his toe.

Allen- "I just hurt my toe, but yeah," he thought of the dream and the small warble in Sam's voice, "I'm fine.... Are you?" Silence. Silence that lasted far ro long to be normal. "Sam?"

Sam- "I... Allen, I think I'm... I don't know. Could you come? Could you bring Van and Trini?" Allen searched his friends voice for some explanation, but all that came back was the dream.

Allen- "Yeah, Sam. I'll come. I'll bring the others too." More silence.

Sam- "Please be fast..."

Allen- "Here we are guys..." They stood in front of a modest three story home. Sam's home. The lawn was long and ragged. There were parts of the siding that were cracked and chipped, probably from a summer storm.

Van- "Let's go in... I want to know what's wrong..." Trini nodded and started up the walk in front of the other two. She knocked timidly on Sam's door.

Trini- "Sam? Are you in there?" A faint rustling behind the door. There was the sound of numbers being plugged into a electronic lock, and the door slid open. Sam stood there, gaunt and pale. His body was a mess. He was probably fifty pound lighter than he was, his hair was stringy and falling out in places, and his clothes were damp with the sweat that shone across his exposed skin.

Allen- "My God... Sam, what's happened to you?" He invited them in with a small arm gesture.

Sam- "Would you like some tea? I made some." He walked jaggedly over to the electric stove and lifted the kettle with one terribly thin arm.

Van- "I'll take some." Allen and Trini smiled at Sam.

Allen- "I'll have some too."

Trini- "Me too." Sam's eyes softened, his face perking up. He looked more like the Sam they knew. He poured the tea and walked over to the table with four steaming cups.

Allen- "Sam?" He looked up, sipping his tea tentatively, his eyes sad again. "Tell us what's wrong." Sam set his cup down and rubbed his eyes. Allen and Van traded a quick glance. Sam told his story.

"About a year ago, I began finding this small lump on my shoulder, you know, where I was hit with the asteroid... I didn't think anything of it. Maybe just some scar tissue I didn't notice before. Besides, I didn't want to notice it. I didn't want to think about it. I wanted that part of my life to be over with....
But it didn't go away. I put off my physical because of that damn thing. I didn't go to the doctor for nearly nine months. Then it began to hurt. Little bolts of pain shooting down my arm. Maybe some throbbing at the actual lump. And I got scared. So I did go to a doctor. I asked him to check it out. He drew a little blood with one of those fancy hypo-filters and the blood ate right through the vial... Like it was acid. The doctor looked at me like I was a disease. He left the room and I left the hospital. I went back here. And then it started hurting a lot more. It would wake me from sleep. I was never hungry anymore.

One night, the lump split open on me. It oozed out black liquid and a small spider-like creature strolled out of my wound. I watched it go and smashed it with a book. My wound stitched itself up like nothing had ever happened... And that's how I've been living... Killing the things that come out of my body... Not eating except when I have to... And you know what Allen..."
---
Sam- "I think it has to do with the Event Horizon... I can feel it inside of me, like when I went crazy fifteen years ago on the Bladerunner." He wiped the tears from his face and pulled the neck of his shirt down to reveal the lump. It was a bulging black mass of darkened veins and arteries. A small open wound at the top leaked foul-smelling liquid onto a series of bandages. Sam winced as he pulled his shirt up. "The creatures were far apart at first. Maybe one every three weeks. But now they're coming about every four days." He looked up. "I'm scared, you guys...." Allen stood and walked over to him, joined by Trini and Van. They hugged him close, careful to avoid the lump. They didn't want to hurt him. He cried harder, tears of relief.

Allen- "We'll make you better Sam. We'll find a way." Sam pulled back from them, motioning for his friends to sit again. He rubbed the tears from his eyes slowly, wiping his moistened hands on his not-quite-clean denim jeans.

Sam- "Any ideas? I've tried all sorts of things... I've tried burning it off... Cutting it off... Even pounding it... But all I get is pain. It doesn't even flinch... But I do..." Allen shifted in his seat and spoke up.

Allen- "Have you been to church?" Sam looked at him, his face a mass of understanding.

Sam- "I stopped almost exactly when this thing appeared! I didn't even realize it!" Allen smiled grimly.

Allen- "Common... We're taking you to the Vatican."
---
June 26th, 2116 AD
Trini- "It didn't work, did it." Allen slumped against his seat. He looked at Trini with bleary, confused eyes.

Allen- "No... It didn't. The Pope couldn't exorcise him... Trini, he's getting violent. It seems to have hastened the infection... I don't know how much longer he can stay in control..." Trini walked over and hugged Allen.

Trini- "We'll take care of him. You know we will." Allen sobbed into her shoulder.

Allen- "I know... It's just that I can't bear to see him like this. It brings back bad memories."

Trini- "Shhhh... We'll try some other things... Those God-Men got more than an exorcism up their sleeves."
---
July 3rd, 2116 AD
Van- "Dammit..."

Allen- "Not going good Van?" Allen sounded blank, as if he knew the answer.

Van- "No... He reacted badly to the holy-water injections. He's getting really violent... And he's raving... I don't know Allen..."

Allen- "We'll fine something that works..."
---
July 6th, 2116 AD
Allen- "He had a moment where his mind was his own today..." Trini looked up.

Trini- "Yeah?" Allen nodded.

Van- "What'd he say?" Allen brought out a pistol, with one round in the chamber.

Allen- "He asked me to kill him."
---
July 7th, 2116 AD
Trini- "You can't, Allen... You know that, right?" Allen ran his hands over the smooth metal of the pistol.

Allen- "Trini... I can't let it get loose. We've been able to kill the creatures so far, but what happens when he starts spawning things as large as Ruben was? I can't let that happen... I'd rather lose a friend, then destroy the human race..." He stuck the pistol into his waistband, and walked from the room.
---
Allen- "No! Goddammit NO!" He threw the pistol to the floor, the round no longer in the chamber. Van stood, at Allen's sudden entrance and outburst.

Van- "What?! Is he dead?" Allen kicked the pistol to the other side of the room.

Allen- "I pressed the barrel to his temple. I squeezed the trigger. The bullet left the chamber and went right through his head. His fucking brains were splattered against the wall... His head lolled to the side. He was dead..." Allen's knees unhinged and he fell to the floor in a half-assed praying position. "Then he picked his head back up, looked at me, and grinned... He said 'I can't die Allen. Not by your means anyway.' Then he laughed, and began to spit curses in a dialect I've never heard..." He struggled to a chair and sat down clumsily. "I don't know what else to do..."

???- "Mr. Chubb?" Allen took his arm off his eyes and looked at the man in the suit.

Allen- "What can I do for you?" The man opened a briefcase and handed Allen a manilla folder. "What's this?" The man stiffened slightly.

???- "Look for yourself." Allen, with a lingering glance on the man, opened the folder. A picture slid out.

Allen- "What is-" A bolt of pain wracked his head. Somewhere down the hall, Sam screamed. "No..."

???- "This image was obtained via the Hubble Telescope mark 2 about a year ago. We sent a ship out to investigate, and lost contact with it. We're assuming them dead." Allen looked up at the man with teary eyes, something that has become nearly second nature over the past month. "It is in exactly the same spot where the Event Horizon exploded fifteen years ago." Allen looked back at the photograph.

Allen- "What is it?"

???- "We don't know. Some of our psychics believe it to be a portal of some kind. A rip between the dimensions, if you will. But as far as we can tell, nothing is coming out. We can only surmise that it's a one-way, due to the loss of our ship." Allen sniffed and wiped his eyes with his arm.

Allen- "And why did you come to me?" He knew the answer.

???- "Our psychics also know of Mr. Tiller. They believe it to be the only place to take him, be it for our own good, or the fact that you might be able to cure him while near it." Allen shook his head to himself.

Allen- "This can't be happening... Not again... I've put all this behind me..."

???- "We have a state-of-the-art ship at your disposal. The best weaponry, the best communication devices. We will be monitoring all of the sensors to collect the data. When will you be ready?" Allen looked up at him with fiery eyes.

Allen- "What makes you so sure I'll do it?" The man in the suit snatched the manilla folder back.

???- "You want to save your friend, yes? I know that nothing here is working. You can't kill him. You can't exorcise him. And besides, you wouldn't be threatening the Earth if he were in space." He gave Allen a cold smile. "It is the only way to save him." Allen glared at him. The man just stood there, unmoving and smiling his smug smile.

Allen- "Give me a week." The man nodded and walked toward the door.

???- "I'll see you in New Madison, Mr. Chubb."

--Lynx
--Radaghast
--sweetreyes
--Baron Samedi

I will be accepting four to seven more people.
---
Name: Nothing too outrageous.

Age: 25-55

Gender: Male or Female

Specialty: i.e. Communications, Security, Boarding Security, Engineer, Strategist, etc. Think of things required to run a spaceship.

Short Bio: No longer than three paragraphs or twenty lines. Keep in mind that, other than Lynx, Radaghast, and sweetreyes, most of you are either being assigned to this mission, or are volunteering. No relatives of the dearly departed please.

Personality: A brief description about how you character thinks and acts.
---
A Last Note
Some of you may be killed off in this RPG. Do not take it personally, for I may kill my own character off if I feel it will better the RPG. But don't fret, if I decide to give you another chance you may be reincarnated as some Chaos Dimension Demon.
Thankyou and goodnight.

Name: Helena Bahbem

Age: 29

Gender: Female

Specialty: Strategist

Short Bio: Helena was born into a wealthy French family, but her parents divorced shortly after she reached elementary school. While she was never lacking in material luxury, she quickly learned to detest the selfishness and immaturity of the adults who surrounded her. Because of this, Helena didn't mind attending boarding school--a place where she could remain as cold and contemptuous as she desired. At fifteen, she took her mother to court and was legally emancipated; at seventeen, she was accepted to a highly selective American university, and used her paternal grandfather's money to pay her tuition.

Out of a desire for order, discipline, and a more Spartan way of life, Helena later joined the military. While she enjoyed testing her physical limits, it soon became clear that her sharp mind and talent for manipulation made her best suited to specialize in intelligence and strategy. She was assigned to this mission not only to assist Allen, but also to keep a careful watch over the ship's crew. Even after years of speaking English, she still has a light French accent.

Personality: Though naturally rather icy, she is an excellent actress, and uses her skills to their full advantage. Most of the time, Helena seems quite friendly and compassionate. She also happens to be devastatingly good at chess, and will play nearly any challenger. A perfectionist to the core, she is very serious about her work.

Appearance: About 5' 5", with shoulder-length blonde hair and pale blue eyes. She has a slim, fragile-looking body, but is actually startlingly strong. Helena usually wears white.

I hope that's okay. ^_^

You would not believe how pissed off I am. I was typing up a great signup, and my computer turned off. Power outage. For a whole fricking hour. Sadly, I didn?t type in Word, so no recovery. Anyhow, here goes my second attempt.

Name: Nathan Rahl.

Age: 31.

Profession: Security Officer.

Biography: Considering the fate of the Bladerunner, the organisers of this next expedition decided that it would be more practical if security was not your average John Q Public. So, after much to-ing and fro-ing they chose Nathan.

Nathan came from a maximum security prison.

Nothing is known about his past. He appeared sometime during the Himalayan Fiasco and committed obscene atrocities. He cold-bloodedly murdered both rebels and US forces. He and another rogue fighter were captured and taken to Leavenworth. The other member of Nathan?s ?crew?, Johnny Roger died in jail. Nathan has spent these last nine years biding his time in a jail cell. Unless given his medication, Nathan is an extremely dangerous homicidal maniac. A vicious, trained and ruthless killer. However, under the effects of Dileksthin, Nathan is a normal as any other human, but an excellent killer. Every twelve hours he is force administered Dileksthin to manage his mind.

After weighing up the benefits and disadvantages of having Nathan onboard, the Command finally decided to select him for crew. This is an all or nothing gamble.

Personality: [Without Dileksthin]: Vicious, ruthless and merciless. No humanity remains in him. He is a trained killing machine, and seems to exist only to butcher any living being.

[Dileksthin] A trained killing machine, but a human one. Has a good sesnse of humour, but focuses relentlessly on the job at hand. Does not easily develop relationships beyond the average ?working? ones. Will always pitch in to help, but is very withdrawn at times.

Hope you like KOTR. Anything else, I?ll change if necessary.

I'm sorry this took so long but I've just had some problems with my OB account fixed. Thanks James a thousand times.

Name: Dr Van Ambrose

Age: 71 [looks to be about 51]

Sex: Male

Speciality: Ship's Physician

Small Bio: 15 years ago Van was a doctor who believed he'd seen every sickness that space could throw at him, he was wrong, very wrong. Van was a member of the original crew of the Bladerunner sent to reacquire the Event Horizon that had been relocated after a disappearing in the wake of being found by the Louis and Clark. Van was the only crewmember to have experienced being stranded in the Chaos dimension opened by Weirs engine aboard the Event Horizon. While there Van's body was altered by a force there in and he was sent back through the portal to rejoin his fellow crewmates take down their fallen comrade Ruben Thorne and get back to Earth. He was one of only four to have survived that accursed mission.

After getting back to Earth Van had to deal with the fact that he looked twenty years younger and had his body had been altered. Van to escape the spotlight decided to relinquish his medical credentials and seek some form of peace to get his life back on track. He left the United States and returned to his family home in Ireland and tried to start a new life but that wasn't going to be possible, at least not yet. He would often call to see the remnants of the crew and give them check-ups to keep them healthy but Van was no psychiatrist and there were things that happened on that mission that he wasn't going to be able to fix. He especially enjoyed visiting Allen who he has long conversations with and enjoyable tralks.

After Van found out about Sam he cursed himself for not being able to foresee it happening, after their exhaustive but ultimately futile attempts to save him Van accepted that Sam's only chance may lie in taking him back to the one place Van never wanted to go back to. He's joined Allen and taken back up his medical profession for the hopefully last time.

Personality: Van has still retained his caring and compassionate heart after everything that's happened while on that mission, he still mourns those who didn't make it and often prays in the hope that they'll find peace. For the new people on this mission they'll find Van to have an almost fatherly affection but that's just his way of showing how much he cares. He treats those from the Bladerunner like family, like his brothers and sisters and will do anything to protect them.

Name: Lilia Sethen

Age: 28

Gender: Female

Specialty: Communications.

Short Bio: Volunteering. Definetly volunteering.

Although she was only 13 when she heard of the Black Horizon, she has dedicated her life to the persuit of perfection. But now, after being the best of the best in her field, she wants to do something for someone else. That would be to do what others have talked about but never really done before. Instead of being talk, she wants to be action.

By volunteering for this, she wants to tap into the energy of "goodness" that she's once heard of. The energy that made her take the bullets and die without betrayal.

Personality: Serious and saturnine, Lilia is a victim of her own self loathing and desire to do something good for a change.

From the diary of Sam Tiller:

June 10th, 2116 AD

I killed another one of them today. As I write the blood from the wound is drying. The opening has already sealed itself. They're starting to get bigger. More than the just the smaller spider things. After I kill them I throw the corpses into the bathtub, so just in case they aren't dead, they'll drown. I haven't taken a shower for weeks. I'm not eating. I think that if I nourish myself, they'll get bigger and stronger. I won't be able to stop them. I might not be able to stop them if I get too weak. I've lost about 40 pounds.
I don't sleep anymore. So I'm awake all night, either writing in this diary, or thinking about the mission. I think about Tex too. I wonder where she is. I gave her so much hell during the mission. Attacking her. I was even driven to insanity because of her. But this....this is worse.

July 12th, 2116 AD
Entry by Allen Chubb
I've been reading through my old friends' journal for a few days now. It's something to do while he's locked in that room, howling in pain. I can't believe how much he's gone through. I didn't know half of what happened to him. But now I know it all after reading this journal. It's insane.
Now he's in that room, covered in his own filth. His hair, which used to be blonde and short, is now dark and stringy from lack of washing it. Everyone is afraid of him. They look into his eyes and they see everything wrong in this world. I can only wonder what he sees when he looks at us.
But we can do something about him now. We're going to kill him. It sounds may sound cruel, but it is for the good of the earth....and him. A man came to me today and told me of the mission...and...we are going to take him back to the portal and see what we can do. I just don't know if it will work. But I hope---
The rest of this entry is almost illegible, due to the marks of tears making the ink of the pen run.

OOC: I hope that works. I wanted to go away from the traditional sign-up. If not I will edit it with a proper sign-up.

Hmmm... I'm not quite sure how one can get younger over the course of fifteen years (excluding Mr. Ambrose of course) but you've puled it off Ms. Reyes. By my calculations, you're about 45. Not 29.

Oh dear me, I've revealed a secret. ;) Also, the ship is the Event Horizon, not the Black Horizon.
Please edit accordingly.

Name: Allen Chubb

Age: 51

Gender: Male

Specialty: Captain

Short Bio: After the events on the Event Horizon and the Bladerunner had played out, he had retired to a small house in southern Canada for peace and quiet, knowing he wouldn't find it, but still hoping. Dreams bothered him frequently, but began to dwindle a few years after.

He visited his friends when he could. or when the nightmares became too much, and greatly enjoyed their company. He especially enjoyed visiting Van. Then he woke up one night from a particularly bad dream.

Personality: Usually is a pleasure to be around, but frequently drifts into his own thoughts when things begin to bore him. When decisions are to be made, he often second (and sometimes third) guesses them due to his last mission. Has intimidation on his side when he wants to use it, but rarely does any more. More subdued than before.

That should've given you the hint Im either 39 or older but I mean you just had to go ahead and put it on out there like that.

But regarding this I may be over 40 but I still look younger heh.. SO next time don't try to hate on me because you've gone over the hill.....

Okies, I haven?t finished reading the old thread yet so just let me know if there is anything off about my signup, I?m more than happy to change it?

Name: Adam Faulkner

Age: 31

Bio: Faulkner had a fairly uneventful early childhood. As an only child he was pampered by parents during what little time they had free from work. Completing his higher education in high distinction Adam progressed into college where he studied physics for two years before progressing into structural engineering for one year and finally specializing in vacuum engineering. Aged twenty-nine Adam Faulkner was offered a job by one of America?s leading engineering firms where he helped the development of numerous space shuttle and colony projects. Faulkner jumped at the opportunity of joining the new mission and is to serve the ship as best he can through out his voyage. He has heard rumours of the event horizon and the events surrounding its recent history but has dismissed them as that and thinks the whole thing to be little more than a series of bad accidents?

Personality: Adam appears to most as a typical fun loving guy, he enjoys to sit back with the boys and have a laugh, relaxed in the company of friends and family but on the job he is stern and quick to his work, focusing entirely on the task at hand.

Ok. This is the finalized list. If you desperately want to make it into this RPG from this point forward, PM me and we might be able to work something out.

I'm truely impressed with the quality of RPers here, and hope that this goes as smoothly and eventfully as the first.
