Trigun banner

I hadn't made a banner in a while, and just decided that I needed some practice. It's really nothing special; I made it for fun, and don't really expect to use it anyway.

What did I do with it? I cut out out Wolfwood (the guy on the left), slapped in on a picture with Vash (on teh right), made the pictures a little grainy, angled some text to fit in with the pictures (thanks for the idea, Kaisuke), colorized it, and did another few tidbits, including making smoke come out of the gun, though you can't really tell too much. :/

Comments and critique are appreciated.

Looks nice.

Could have done without the grainyness, though I dont think it makes a terrible difference. Im a little jealous though, your text looks miles better than mine, the monotonous colour, meh, I dont think im going for that, but on the whole, its a nice clean banner. ^_^

I just added the graininess to give it a little.. feel, I dunno, and to make the pictures flow better together. As for the orange hue, here it is in normal colors. The smoke is a lot easier to see, but still a little light. Ah well, it looks more realistic that way. ;p

The coloured version looks a hell of a lot better, as for the image "flowing" it flows anyways, you dont need the grain effect in there, it makes it look like a low quality image.

The text also stands out some, not too much, but its more defined. The coloured version is much much better. ^_^

I like both versions of this banner. I think the orange hue one works well with Trigun. The color one is nice too though. I liked the way the text is slanted, good idea. Heh, I once wanted to make a Wolfwood picture, and that was like the only picture coming up in the search.

This was just a crazy idea I had in the way of adding to my banner. I wanted to perfect it, but seeing as Kenji's conectoor doesn't work.. o-O

Well, its different ^_^

Its a nice idea, I think its really cool, did you put the glint in yourself? Sadly, there is a downside.

Yes, its a cool idea, no, it isnt working with the banner. I think the banners too small, therefore making it look cluttered, maybe try flipping the glasses over to the right, facing the left as the right side is less crowded. Just a thought.

It is a really cool idea though, possibly work better on a larger canvas such as a wallpaper or even a bigger banner *shrug*

I actually like all version of this banner, but I'll comment on the last edit. I think the glasses are actually a nice effect, but as Kaisuke says, it's too cluttered. It might work better if you left the glasses where they are, cut out Wolfwood and moved Vash just a tad bit to the right. It's really a cool concept, but there's just too much going on. The tiny glint is an excellent touch.

I have to say that I was instantly hooked on the first version.

There's something about a banner that has been stripped of apparent color that attracts me.
It has a feeling of ... coolness, in lack for a better word / expression.

And I like the grayning effect. Added to the detraction of striking hues, it resembles an old Western movie.
Where everything's a little laid back, but awaiting to kick some behind.

But mostly I think the banner reminds me of an old black&white picture, the kinds that tell a story. When I saw the colored version, I saw no story to tell. Which I did in the first one.

I'm no expert, but it looks like you've blended the images you used very well. There are no distracting lines / blurred places.

What do you call those little staple-like things that you've snuck into the upper right corner and the lower left corner ? Those made/make the banner[s] more stable and balanced somehow.

Yes, all in all - I like it a lot !

Yes, I think that's pretty much the same analogy I used when I talked to Syk3 yesterday, heh.

I much prefer the black and white version over the two colored versions - to me, the black and white "coloring" gives the banner the sense that Vash and Wolfwood are moving; I can't really explain it, but that's the sense that I get.

I think the black and white lends itself better to something like Trigun, anyway. Trigun has more of an old-west feel mixed along with all the futuristic sci-fi stuff. The music has a western feel, as well. The black and white banner gives off a western feel, too - I'm half expecting Clint Eastwood to show up in there :p

The other two are good, but the first banner trumps them both, in my opinion.
