Stage Crew/ TV Production

I was wonder if there were any other people out there like me that participates in the ongoings of stage crew and tv production.

I've been working in stagecrew a lot the past couple years. When you are in stage crew, you participate in all the behind the scenes stuff during plays and tv shows. I prefer stage construction, props, and and other set jobs. Building and props are just my favorite things.

The only thing that I do not tend to like very much are working on the sound and light boards. It is just boring to sit up in the tech booth for many hours at a time.

Other than stagecrew, I also volunteer at my local Comcast TV station. I work camera for all the public works shows. television shows put on cable by everyday people. I've been working as a camera controller for a year now. It is a lot of fun. Once this summer comes around, I am going to get certified as a graphics tech head. Though I don't really like the tech stuff for drama plays, I like the tech head jobs for television.

These two kinds of things are what I enjoy doing. Have you ever done anything like this? If you do, do you enjoy it?

I've not really had any experience with a crew... but I've been involved with various amateur video productions. Some were for my own use, some for other people's. I've done camera work, but I mostly do the editing and such. Media 100 was the last program I've worked in, which isn't bad.

Anyway, that's all I have to say lol.

I'm a major in Film Production so I do the same type of things ^_^ I absolutely love working with cameras, though lighting is also something that I'm totally interested in. However, the few things that I'd really love to do for film production would either be directing, screenwriting, or editting. Editing on FCP all day long would be so much fun to do for a living haha ^_^

I do stage work for my school at most of the major events, with a few other people (about eight in all) We set up scenes, work sound and lights and all the other stuff. Best of all it gets us pizza, coke and a day out of school! :D Life be good. But it can be hectic, especially if one has forgotten when to turn the strobe light on during the biggest production of the night...

When I was in high school, I was really involved in the crew aspect of theatre, especially the moving of furniture and set pieces and stuff like that during the actual shows. And I was so special and good, they made me "Crew Leader." That, and I look good in black. Whee!

It's a lot of fun, though. I always had a blast, and my crew would always come up with weird nicknames and all that for each show. Not to mention that having a headset on equates you to God backstage. Feel the power.

I thought about persuing some sort of film production job for a while, in set design or photography or something like that, but I'd rather be a teacher. I miss it though, so I might join up with a local community theatre or something. The one thing I never did was direct, and I really wish I would have. I always end up looking at all the plays I read and think about how I would stage it, how'd I'd interpret it, what sort of themes I'd stick to, things like that. I think it could have been a lot of fun. But alas, maybe I'll have the opportunity sometime in the future.

In my drama class we're learning the technical aspect of theater, I guess you call it. We're learning how to bulid frames at the moment. It's fun because of the ppl who are involved and the group ambiance of it all. It's also nice to know that I'm part of the production without having to show my little ol' shy face ^_^;;

Building sets was a lot of fun. I felt all involved and productive, and then every time you walk into the auditorium and look at it, you think "Yep, there's my baby." Even if you only drilled a nail into the wood or something, heh. It was always something to be proud of. Maybe that's just me though, heh.

But yeah, the people you work with really make or break the situation. Thankfully though they were all pretty easy-going people.

One of things we did though every time we finished a set was sign one of the flats on the back. Then when set strike came, we'd save that piece of board. Although I have no idea what we did with them after that. o_O It was a fun group thing to do, though.

I did make-up once for a high school production of Hello Dolly. I didn't get along too well with one of the girls since she was popular and I wasn't

Come to think of it, I still don't get along with her because she's a narrow minded person which I can't stand.

However, I did get my name put in a program and my cousin's high school heard of me so when I went to see her in South Pacific at her high school everyone was cool with me. Too bad everyone in the music department at my high school was so super ficial. iNcluding the director.
