Mighty Max

I got this idea from looking at the Zelda thread and i was wondering if any has ever heard of, seen, or bought the toys relating to Mighty Max.

The show was really great. It had such old school drawings, but the story line and character development for a show back then were amazing. It was also one of the first cartoons back then to actually have a season finale.

Not only did i like the cartoon, but the action figures were just as good. I swear me and my brother had every single one that was made. I still have the pocket toys in my attic somewhere, but none of them are in their boxes. I wonder how much they would sell for now.

Is Mighty Max anime? I don't think it is, so I'll probably move this thread.

I used to watch it when I was a kid. It came on USA right before Sailor Moon. I just remember that it was kind of boring and just anticipated watching SM. Ah, the good ol' days.

Yeah it was pretty fun, but it was on at a bad time so I rarely got to watch it cause I wouldn't get home from school early enough. I still have a lot of the toys somewhere, including the big dragon island set and that lava monster Magus or whatever it was called. That stuff was pretty cool, but I am really into toys. Heck, I'm 21 and I still buy Batman action figures (I don't really open most of them, though, but still I buy them. And the ones I open are standing around on shelves/desks and such). I also get some anime action figures but they're not so much "action" and more "fragile as heck" so those are obviously only for display.

They should bring back Mighty Max for a week or so. I'm sure looking back at it it's gonna suck real hard and we'll all be glad it's no longer on, or something. But it would be neat to watch again at least once, for old times' sake.

Ok, I have EVERY SINGLE Mighty Max toy in the world. No lie. The other day I went in my basement looking for them and I managed to find all the little pieces and sets. I have all the deluxe sets, like Skull Mountain, and Dragon Island and all that. I have them all in a safe place now. The coolest one by far was the mummy one and the playset was a snake. That one owned.

Mighty Max was great. Now that I've been reminded of the greatness that is Mighty Max, I've got to find the episodes on DVD.

It was really a cartoon that was way ahead of its time. As some have mentioned, it had spectacular animation, wonderful character development, and a plot rarely seen--rather, rarely executed well.

Max is the unexpected hero...the proper term escapes me...wow, I'm up before 10 am, lol.

But yes. What I find most rewarding about Mighty Max is the Dante's Inferno influence. I had never picked up on it until I read Dante's Inferno, but think about why they included Virgil. :)

Virgil acts as Max's guide through...hell, essentially. They visit chaotic worlds with overlords and such, and it is up to Max to right the wrongs...to play the protagonist.

This is one reason why Mighty Max was such a brilliantly conceived cartoon, because the younger generation could connect with the sheer spectacle, while the older, more learned audience noticed the references to classic literature.

All in all, and either way you look at it, excellent cartoon.

Ooohhh yeeeaahh, I kind of remember Mighty Max now. I was really into it when I was a lot younger; moreso the figures than the actual show, though. I think that I did watch a little bit of the show, but like Sara, I couldn't tell you about it, lol. =_=

I remember that I would spend hours playing with those action figures, heh. I had a lot, but I don't know about every toy in the world like some people in this thread. o.o The Max figure was always really small, right? Yeah, I remember them. I have absolutely no idea where the toys are right now, though. I probably sold them off at a yard sale years ago. ;p

I believe his name was Skullmaster. I remember watching this show in reruns, after it was over. It aired in syndication with The Mask, as part of some generic tv station that later got swallowed up by a network... that show was pretty good.. too bad I lost all the toys I ever owned from it... the pieces were pretty small, as I remember.

Yea the antagonists name was skullmaster...i just wish they kept it on air for one more season. Plus like someone said early it would be great if they could show a re-run again.

I started searching on E-Bay and the toys aren't worth as much as i would have hoped they would have been. If they're still in their boxes the come to about $4, out of the box its about $2. The special ones like Skull Mountain and Dragon Island are around $6 out of box and probably $10 in box. The only one i didnt have as for the toys was the Dragon Mountain cause my parents just couldn't find that one. It was a really hot toy for its time and i can imagine it being worth even more if the ever brought the T.V. series back just one more time.

I doubt that Mighty Max would sell for very much. The show was okay, and the pocket toys were pretty cool, but the video game was one of the worst I have ever played. The concept was just lame. All you did was walk around picking up what looked like junked chandaliers, then threw them in a vortex. The cartoon wasn't all that either, but I guess it was decent for the time period. But as far as worth is considered, I would guess it had none, unless you were such a die-hard gamer, that you had to have every collectible from alll the old school games.
