Guest fool Cool This
How much are you willing to spend on anime. I have a friend that order 500$ of anime. That is a lot of anime it not box sets that cost 125 or 175. They are perfect collection that are 50$ or 22$ that pretty good. I spend at least 300$ on anime. That my limit. What is your limit on buying anime.
mitsuru
I spend about 20 bucks every week... I recently just spent 60.00 on Ebay. Basically however much I have, minus 15 dollars for other expenses. There's no anime places around here, so I have to go online. >_<
ElrickOtaku
This side of the Atlantic, I spend about £15 a week. That is because (a) it is so scarce and expencive over here; and (b) I don't have a job.

Flashlight
How much I spend really depends. I usually just choose something, save up, and buy it. Sometimes it's a 30 dollar DVD, sometimes it's 200 dollar box set. If I want it though, I'll usually be willing to pay anything to get it. :)

Oukan05
OOooooohhh Boy! I myself have to be extremely careful on my spendings. To my limit, I would spend for VHS 5 th 10 dollars. At FYE, videos are getting cheaper. As for DVDs, probably about 20 to 30 dollars. Yesterday, my grandmother gave me about $80 for the weekend. I'd beg her not to give me too much, but she always insisted. I love her so much; this is when I never asked for anything, but it comes anyway. Now, out of $80; including two $5 I had for savings, I purchased three DVDs of anime; only two of them were cheap in the used section. Seriously, I do whatever I can to watch my spendings. When I had only a 20 dollar bill, I would buy anime magazine, one VHS, or a CD. I need the rest for eats you know. Now that I have a 20 bill left, I decided to save it for next weekend. I don't have a job though; so this is the thanks I get for doing good deeds at school; SWEET!!!!:D

SasukeUchiha
the biggest spending spree I have gone on is 300 dollars. But I went a little nuts that time. But it varies for me, It depends on what volumes are released in a given month or what new animes I have seen that I want to own. But on the average I spent anywhere from 0-50 dollars a month. Oukan05
OMG!! I forgot about to mention about the spendings I had on conventions I go to. Now that I remember (which I didn't because I was tired), I spent like up to $200 to maybe about $300 dollars worth of alot of stuff dealer rooms had that I've never seen before; "boy did I went nutz or what?" I can't believe I forgot about that time.:nervous: :worried:
Dagger
Well, I usually try to buy a new DVD (which can cost anywhere from $18 to $30) every other week; whether or not this actually happens depends on how much money I've managed to gather in the interim. The biggest single purchase I've ever made was $90 for the Descendants of Darkness box set--not too bad a price, considering that many series sell for over $150. I generally avoid bootlegs, regardless of their quality. Those $30 box sets are quite tempting, of course, but my conscience remains unsatisfied until I plunk down large sums of money in order to purchase an anime's official release. When I'm running low on cash, I head to Netflix or Blockbuster; renting has the added bonus of preventing me from blindly buying a potentially mediocre show. It only costs about $10 to rent two DVDs. That's eight to ten episodes--enough to carry me through at least a weekend or two. ~Dagger~
pbfrontmanvdp
Lets see....i have 72 anime DVD's as of right now ranging from $20 to $32 so ill say about $1800 ive spent on DVD's so far. Damn thats a lot now that i think about it lol. They should really keep it a standard like at $24 for every anime no matter where you go. Its ridiculous trying to find cheap prices. the_fizz
I usually do not have a lot of money to spend on anime (bills and stuff), but I just recently got a few animes (FYE shopping spree, YEPPIE :luv: ) and I spent close to $300 for 2 box sets and 7 movies. The most expensive was the Rurouni Kenshin Wandering Samurai Premium Box Set $115, but I thing it was a well-wroth-it buy (I cannot wait for the second one to come out this year-I hope). I also got a DBZ box set and a few other anime movies, but this was a treat that I was waiting for over two years now.
Katana
I think I average about 20 bucks...a month. *sweatdrop* I don't get out and about to stores that sell anime that much. That, and I'm only 12 and get an allowance of five dollars a week. After one month, I still don't have enough to get an anime DVD. Bleh. >.<
DBZgirl88
I don't spend anything on animé. I just watch whatever comes on T.V, and download episodes off the internet. The only time I would consider spending money on animé is if I ever buy a good animé movie. Some of them are pretty cheap. My friend got me Princess Monoke for my birthday, and it was only 10 bucks! Pretty good deal eh? But I don't really buy non-animé reltated movies either, so I should get into the habit.
Luminaire
>sighs< Around here, there are close to zero places to buy anime. I have sights and stuff I have bought anime from, but my mom won't let me use her credit number to order it. www.discountanimedvd.com is my favorite site. I have spent maybe $250 in all on anime. v_v I can now rent stuff from Blockbuster, but owning it is different. Now manga is another story, I can get it at any bookstore easily. I have ALOT of different mangas. Maybe $600 worth. I wish buying anime was that easy. ~Lumi ^_^
xmystic_silverx
Now... lets see... I buy the new YYH DVDs every month and any merchandise or magizine related to it or any other anime that I like. Since my town is so small, we barely get any anime, and most of the time its edited ((dont you feel sorry for me?)) So when ever I travel with my family, I go balistic! I usually buy 2 magizines, one new manga and a DVD that I want. As for the DVDs each month... I'd say I spend $26 on each DVD and Ive been buying them from animecastle.com since.. november so times that by the number of months... *goes to calculate* .... OKay! Already Ive spent $130 on 5 DVDs. I only go as far as the money in my pocket. ^^;

ChibiHorsewoman
Well, I broke down back in March and bought both the first and second season of Sailor Moon the first season was $95.88 + .8% sales tax, second season was $114.88 +8% sales tax. When I bought the first season I also had to buy a DVD player since the one I had was in Iraq. I got mine for $39.99 + .8% sales tax at Best Buy. The best deal I got on an anime Video was $3.95 for an Ayashi no Ceres dubbed episode video since the comic store was getting rid of them. Prior to that was two subbed videos of SailorMoonS that I got for $9.00 each at the PX at Ft. Gordon. I paid $10.00 for a used SailorMoonSs DVD. Good condition too. As for Manga, I like the buy one get one 1/2 off that Media Play has, but I usually pay full price as usual. I don't really have an estimate on how much total all my anime and manga are worth. However, I think it's far over $600.00 since I have so damn many DVDs.
Godelsensei
Living around here, it's hard to be an anime-watcher without breaking down and revelling in the delights of pirated goods. (BTW, people, 'quality-bootleg' is an oxy-moron, unless your idea of quality is people coughing and some one slipping their index finger over the camera lens towards the end of the movie because they fell asleep.^_~) I don't know how much I have spent on my anime/manga obsession...let's do some quick math here... 30 dollars a volume for Ranma 1/2 (crazy, huh?), so that's $90 right there. Nine releases by VIZ, at $12 a piece...$108...$10 a pop for 10 volumes of miscelanious manga, so that's another $100...and $210 worth of both legit. and pirated DVDs. Added up, that's $520, right? Not too extreme, I guess... Do all the fabric costs for cosplaying, gifts, keychains, calendars, and other such things count? Because, I have alot of them, too. And the costs of blank CDs...hmmm...
Monkey_Orange
Eww...sales tax. I think I'd die quickly if I lived in a sales tax state. Ick! My anime spending habits were quite horrid last year. Why? Well, 2003 was when I went a bit anime crazy. Also, there were a lot of shows that tweeked my interests like Fruits Basket. I think that I was just making up for my anime deprived life in 2003. Anyhow, things are gonna change this year. First, I'm running low on money. And second, so far there aren't that many shows that I'm interested in purchasing [although I am seriously tempted by Gravitation, even though I have seen it a bazillion times ^^]. Manga, on the other hand, is an entirely different story. Consider this: for 1 dvd volume @ $20, I can get 2 manga volumes @ $10 each. It's just more cost effective. I would suggest this route--unless reading is just not your thang. I'd say the over all value of ALL my anime...the average worth is about between $900-$1000. Wow. It DOES sound like a lot. My excuse: I'm just compensating, because pretty soon I'll be returning to a life of poverty...by once again being a student. BUT, once i'm done and finally land a good career that makes muchos bucks...mwahahaha...I'll resume my construct of an anime library. Message to all: Go to college, get an education, land a job, and you'll finally be free to do what you want to do instead of just mooching around. Take it from me ^^ Strange. I rarely preach. ^^;
