My First Banner...

Ok this is my first banner. It's a bit simplistic since I am not very experienced with potoshop. I mainly worked on making the word "Chabichou" have a fuzzy outline. I did that by duplicating the text layer, changing the font color of one and adding a blur filter to it. Then I lined the two text layers up and blured the second layer to give the whole thing a softer look. Other than that the banner was just cut and paste, and paintbucket. I just wish I new how to make a nicer background for it. For my wallpapers I just used the gradient tool, but I'm kind of getting bored with that.

Edit: Ok, I fixed the spelling error, and added a border.

I've always loved that picture, the kitty is so cute ^^. The first thing that stood out to me was that there wasnt an boarder around the banner, and a boarder in my opinon is a very important touch. I dont care for the whole "Fuzzy" outlook of the banner either. The text is big, just sitting there on the bottom. I would suggest a background. You dont have to make background either just use another picture for an background.

For a first banner though it does look decent.

I don't like it. I mean if you change it around a little bit I could see how it could turn out to be a decent first banner. First off, I can see where you didn't really cut the cat out, but more or less just cut a square around the cat and matched the background to the similar to the color of the original cat bg. And the mispelling of straight throws things off also. Anyways, if you could change it a bit it'd be a good first banner. But the effort put forth seems like you tried so that adds up. Although I don't really like it, it's still a first banner and for that it's somewhat good.

I personally would say you did great on your first banner. Although, there is a mispell on straight; and to my opinion I don't find anything wrong with the background. I mean it's cool; some or a few touches on it would be good. Seriously, I do respect for that this is your first banner; and you've put alot of work in it. Also, I love the smiling cat; it's so cute. I have a friend who loves cats; and I think she'll love it too.

I say your first banner is very cool; great job!:)

I honestly think Nomad was being a little harsh (no offense :p) due to the fact that it's your first try. I know my first banner was insanely horrible, even though I used photoshop (I have no clue what you used). Eventually you'll learn how to create a background and everything will just sort of fall into place.

Oops! I didn't realized I made a spelling error. Now that really is a big turn off. However, everybody, thanks for your input. I'm working on making it better now and I will fix the spelling error:). I'm glad everybody was honest, no matter how harsh your opinion was. Kinetic stated that Nomad was too harsh, but I don't think so. If that's what he really thinks, that's fine, he simply said he didn't like it, and gave his reasons. You don't have to hide the truth from me, I can take it...;). Anyway, I agree with Darkest Moment about the border, so I will add one.

Well I actually do think I was a little harsh with my comments. I can't see the new image because, well there's nothing there. I dunno why I said it like that just came out that way. Anyway, that is actually a good FIRST banner (the first one you had). It's just that little things here and there seem to irk me.

:D

EDIT: I didn't see the att. in the other post you made. My mistake. I think it looks better but the border is a little, off? It looks too big and the color somewhat goes with the banner, but it'd be better if it where a slightly lighter color, then again, I don't use many light colors in banners so I wouldn't know, lol. I like the second one better, but the border messes with me a little.
