Kinetic
This is concerning myOtaku and the FanArt submissions. I was just wondering if the range for submission could be widened to include things such as graphics or art unrelated to anime, such as my collages and charcoal pieces. I can understand if that's not an option, due to the fact that theOtaku and it's branches are anime related, but it could be a large addition to myOtaku. If you look at DeviantArt, you can see how they have flourished with things like this. They get nearly 20 submissions every 5 seconds. It would add a heavy burden to the server and I know Adam just lost a chunk of money adding more RAM to the server because of his two upcoming projects, but it's something that you could consider for future upgrades :) E D I T: I know people are viewing the thread :p Please, share your opinions on the matter. Ryu_Sakura
Or could you just be refreshing the page? bum bum bum! Ok, yeah I agree, Most of my drawing are of pixies and stuff. Most done in Ink, But I have a few in charcoal. it would be great to have that, but I would really want is an Other anime area. For anime's that are not on the list. That would tkae out all the real anime charactors from the origional anime section, and stop confusing me! (Please excuse any spelling errors, I can't think very clear right now.)
James
I think it's pretty unlikely that we'll dramatically expand the range of submissions for our Fan Art site. There are a few reasons for this. I guess the most obvious thing is that we aren't Deviant Art. And we really have no ambition to go in that direction. Whereas Deviant Art is designed to cater to a particular audience, theOtaku.com is also the same way. We have built our entire site (and our entire visitor base) around anime (and video games to a lesser extent). I think that it makes more sense for us to become the best in our category (ie: the best anime fan art site), rather than to dilute our focus and open the flood gates for every type of art. There's also the technical aspect, as you mentioned. Our entire network of sites are hosted on the same server. And so, we obviously want to ensure that we have enough room and speed to accommodate not only our existing sites...but also any new sites that come online. While I don't know the specific details, I do know that Fan Art and OtakuBoards still don't use a massive amount of our system resources...despite their size. But obviously, we want to ensure that we have more than enough room to grow. I think it's more likely that you'll see new categories being added now and then, rather than a complete opening of the field. Maybe Adam would like to add more to what I've said here, I'm not sure.
Kinetic
I figured that would be the answer :p Anyhow, it was just a friendly suggestion, but I completely understand if it's out of our grasp. Ryu_Sakura
But there should still be an "Other Anime" Section because: How would you like it if you got sued because people put copyrighted anime charactors in the Original Anime section? Hm? Think about it... Yes, it would be bad. I have seen ao many pictures of anime charactors Like Rath from Dragon Knights for example, hje doesn't belong in that section it is an anime, But are you giving any credit to the creator of the anime? No. The person only said. This is Rath... or somthing similar.
