Corey
Ok. This is the second installment (the last? That depends on where this one goes) of my Black Horizon RPG. Anything the moderators do to you will be between them and you. *shifty eyes* Ahem... Ok, the first few posts all of you make will deal with making it to New Madison. New Madison is in northern California, so please keep that in mind. Let's get this thing rolling. Good luck and disturbing dreams. --- Allen sat there in row 6 seat d, a window seat, of a cross country hopper plane. The solar powered engines thrummed steadily under his feet, every once in a while speeding up or slowing down depending on turbulence. He had his forehead pressed against the window, small beads of sweat dripping down his face. Every second he drew closer to New Madison, and 'his new ship. He hadn't even been told what color the hull was painted... Allen- "Clueless...." That's what he was... And that's what scared him the most. He was clueless about 'his' new ship. He was clueless about this mission. And worst of all he was clueless about his friend. He didn't seem like himself anymore. He wasn't, by all technical means... But that didn't nullify the fact that Sam was his friend, and Allen would do all in his power to save him. He stood quickly, feeling the engines compensate for his exerted force, if only slightly. He walked to the back of the plane and entered one of two toilets. Maybe his upset stomach was gas... Maybe... But he didn't think so. There was a light knock on the door. He pulled down his jeans and sat on the small toilet. "What." Flight Attendant- "We'll be landing in half an hour, sir. Please take your seat as soon as possible." He rubbed his fists into his eyes and hunched over. Allen- "Yeah. I'll be done soon." Footsteps sounded on the carpeted floor leading away from the shitcloset. He removed his hands and stood back up, catching a brief glance at himself in the mirror. He was still fairly in shape. Muscles still stood out in a few places, but his once toned chest had become pulled tight against his ribs. Ever since talking to Sam on the phone he had not felt hungry. He had eaten to maintain strength and that's it. He pulled his pants up, tucking himself in, and exited the lavatory.
Raiha
"Hey baby, want to get it on when we land?" The female in question turned her head to look at the male prepositioning her, a withering expression written on her delicatley beautiful features. Her voice was low and soft, contrasting sharply with his own. "......no..." "Aw, come on." "Fuck off." The affronted male scowled at her and sat back in his seat. She looked out the window and rolled her eyes. Then she put the folding tray down and crossed her arms. Lilia Sethen placed her head on her arms and sighed quietly. It had been a boring flight, and she really didn't feel up to any socialization.... That and he wasn't her type. White, young, yuppie, just screaming, "I'm green, come and get me." Lilia rolled her eyes once more, then sat up straight. Her breifcase was at her feet, her purse, reduced to the minimum. A wallet tucked into her pocket and a small knife in her clevage. One that nobody had the guts to take care of. Security had let her slide, that and when she bent over to pick up her bag, they had sighed. Maybe with longing. The female looked bored. And rightfully so. It had been a long flight from South Korea, and she wasn't in the mood for anything besides inflight movies and the Sprite in her hand. "Damn....." She wasn't nervous about the mission, danger almost intrigued her. But she was worried about what she might find. She was the best, but she wasn't happy. She was selfish, and admitted it.
Dagger
The plane was stuffy but far from packed, and so Helena had slipped discreetly to an empty row. As the hours passed, she either ignored the stewardesses, or else chose to meet their inquiries with whatever colorful French phrase best suited her current mood. Their shrill, solicitous voices had begun to grate against Helena's nerves. Closing her eyes, she slipped on a sleek little pair of headphones and leaned back to luxuriate in Chopin. Well, this CD contained more than just Chopin--it was Chopin done right, his material played with the delicacy and emotional richness of which it had been all too often robbed. "Excuse me--" Did these women ever get the message? Helena turned, staring at the stewardess's heavy make-up with a mixture of curiousity and revulsion. She herself rarely wore cosmetics; she'd had perfect skin even during her teenage years, and hated the cloying smell of lipstick. "No, thank you," she said sharply, hoping that using English would make her intentions clear. The stewardess smiled, unfazed. "Just tell me if you need anything." Baron Samedi
[OOC: Excellent] Nathan sat ramrod straight on the edge of his bed, waiting for them. Tonight they would come for him, and take him to the shuttle. Tonight he would finally escape this disgusting cell. Tonight was his night. Five minutes later the door to his outer cell burst open. Keys clanked, and the door to his inner cell swung around to reveal four heavily armed guards. One of them, a big, bulky black women handucffed his right wrist to her waist belt, while a younger blonde headed man removed his left wrist handcuff from the wall bar and attatched it to his belt. Escorted out of his cell, Nathan nodded at the cat-calls and jeers he recieved walking down the prison corridor. Calls of 'Hey spaceman' and 'Don't forget to write' echoed off the cold concrete. Moving with a speed surprising for a man of his size, Nathan jerked back on his handcuffs, and tripped over his two flanking guards. Letting himself fall to the ground, he wrapped his legs around the waist of the guard in front and pulled him over, before a truncheon crashed into the back of his neck and the world went black. Some hours later... Nathan awoke to the steady drone of a concorde Airbus. Gazing through the slits in his eyes, he glanced around. He was in a room with five seats across, and perhaps some more rows behind. A sign above the only door he could see read 'Prisoner Section'. Due to the increasing amounts of violent criminals needing international transport to answer charges, special commercial planes had been equipped with Prisoner Rooms. Made the passengers less nervous. Nathan saw one person on either side of him. His guards were both reading Today's newspaper. Sensing that their escort had woken, one of the guards turned over and said 'Only another three hours to go, buck'. Nathan sighed. Two and a half hours later... Nathan opened his eyes,as he felt the prick of a needle. Strapped into his seat, he couldn't move, but he felt the lenses and filters of his world tilt as the Dyleksthin was administered. Not long until New Madison. Uncuffed now, he stepped off the plane and was escorted into the Airplane terminal. A quick customs search then a hurried Taxi trip to the launch site. After a whirlwind of introductions, Nathan found himself standing alone in a virtually bare room. One sleep until the space rocket goes kablooie he thought to himself. Having no appetite, he went to bed at 8:00. Made the night pass quicker. And tomorrow it would...be...time...... ...
Hinata
The noises around her were quieted as she sat on a plane. A few babies cried, mothers hushing them, men chattering amoungst their loved ones... friends...whoever they had came along with. She payed only minute details to them all. She grapped a bag and pulled out a small drawing, one of the few habits she had pcked up once coming back to Earth and relived a few moments of her life. Hoping that a new sense of freedom would once again overcome her. Not likely... She stuffed it back in her bag and felt around some more, she found the small item and placed a set of Earbuds in place, the steady stream of a saxophone and guitar moving into her ears stimulating her brain, sending her away. A few songs later she was disturbed by a tap on the shoulder. She looked at the person briefly and turned the music down to a level in which she could still hear it and listen to the person as well. It was the flight attendant. "Anything for you ma'am," the young lady asked. Her short blond hair and pale blues eyes briefly caught Trini's attention before her eyes wandered to the cart. "Just a soda please....um...Coke," She was handed the drink and the young lady moved on. Her voice briefly squeaked in her ear before she turned the earbuds up once again. Before the music took its affect of her once more she glanced at the watch, and let out a sigh. Two more hours... SHe decided to land in LA and then make her way up to New Madison. She loved to take her time, ut knew she couldn't be late. Her face presented a brief smile as she remembered Chubb's comment the first time they met. The smile soon faded and she began to put the memories behind her once again. This was the last chance to relax before a new paranoia set in. The paranoia from a new ship, new crewmates...but this only tipped the iceburg. She new that this may be her chance to see home and she wanted only to think of that. Gavin
Great this is up it's good to get back into the swing of things. Van sat in his seat carefully watching all those who passed him, even in First Class you had to watch out for individuals who might like to relieve you of your belongings. Thankfully for all intents and purposes nobody seemed to even give Van a second look, he held a glass of Italian red wine in his hand a gave it a small swirl before taking a sip. Sam.... his mind had been tortured by his failure to help his friend, how could he have missed it.... he was the one who was supposed to keep everyone alive and well and even at that he'd failed miserably. The plane would take a while to get from Shannon to Los Angeles and then on to New Madison, even with the new engines there was still no such thing as a quick Trans-Atlantic journey on a plane. Unknown Individual: So how are you enjoying your flight Dr. Ambrose. Van was taken aback by this stranger who'd sat down next to him, he seemed to know Van but that was understandable since the crew of the Bladerunner had become practical heroes for stopping the infestation of the Chaos Dimension getting to Earth. Heck the Pope had given them all his blessings and awards from the Catholic Church, and that was something that didn't happen to you everyday. Still Van wondered how this individual knew who he was, after the Event Horizon mission Van had left the public image and moved back home to Ireland and hadn't been seen much since. Van: And you are ? Unknown Individual: My name is Dr. William Birch and I'm interested in finding out about what happened to your body when you were retrieved aboard the Event Horizon before it blew. Van: You know damn well that I don't talk about that to anyone, and since I'm my own doctor I don't have to get check-ups from anyone else. Birch gave Van a kind of a smirk as if he was happy to be getting under Van's skin, Van was liking this guy less and less every second. Dr. Birch: Well there's a lot of money in it for you, I mean it's not everyday that somebody's body is rebuilt to perfection as well as your age being reversed by what 20 years.... Van: Let me tell you something Birch, I don't like you ! I don't like people like you who are only interested in turning me into a Guinea pig so that you can put some new wonder drug on the market to make yourself and the sickos you work for money. Grabs collar Now, if you wouldn't mind I'm trying to enjoy my privacy. Birch had been taken aback by Van and stood up walking away. Van smiled and went back to thinking about his comrades, in 12 short hours he'd see them again.
Raiha
Lilia Sethen watched the dull gray pallor of SFO come into view, and she smiled partway. They had rerouted from Oakland International airport.... ....but she wasn't complaining. Her bags were already within easy reach. Quite unlike the other hapless passengers. She pushed her hair behind her ears and drew out two bobbypins, carefully inserting both into her subduded locks. It wouldn't do to let the wind wreak any havoc with her already slightly messed up hair. As soon as the plane touched down, the sounds of hundreds of seatbelts clicking off reached her ears. Nobody ever waited for the Captain to turn off the seatbelt sign anyway. She laughed and pulled her briefcase into her lap. As the doors opened below her she pushed past the two slumbering seat mates and grabbed her duffel bag from the overhead bin. With practiced ease, she swung the 20 lb. pack onto her shoulders and strapped it down securely. Then, she turned and raised up her documents and headed down the narrow passageway to the retractable hall. "Current tempurature, 50 degrees F. Current wind speed, 28 miles per hour. Humidity, high." Her dress pants flared out beautifully as she walked down the well lit marble halls, and she passed through customs with blinding ease. The cool temperature suited her far better than the stifling conditions of Guanzhou, China anyway. As the daughter of a South Korean ambassador, she was used to breezing through the tedious processes by simply flashing her papers through the plastic files. She waltzed through the automatic doors to the terminal and hailed a taxi. "Where to?" "New Madison please." "Credit or cash?" "Credit when we arrive." "Alright then." The taxi swerved through the busy traffic and made its way on to the open highway. Lilia leaned back in her seat and relaxed. Finally, solitude and comfort.
Hinata
Thank you for flying with us on US Air. THe current time is 7:00 pm Pacific Time, the temp in the high 40's so I hoped you have a jacket. Enjoy L. A. and I hope you fly with us again. Trini barely heard the majority of the announcement as the people on board shuffled out of their seats and grabbed the bags. She on the other didn't need to. The only holding a small bag with her shades, wallet and music player. She stood quickly and walked off the plane as soon as it was time to go. She moved down the corricor and rememebered how much she hated a large crowd. Many were too rude or too kind or just too something that she didn't like. She walked calmy down the airport terminal jacket in hand, tight blue jeans on a a pair of kick ass black boots. She was happy she got herself done over before she left. This may be the last time. Her shirt was a little tight but luckily she was still built and barey looked her ripe age of..... She smiled, thinking of the times many people complemented her on her skin and this and that. But she didn't seem to impressed by the games the young men played. She sighed a bit and soon fund herself at the bagage claim. She saw her suitcase and headed out to the taxi station. Befroe her she saw plenty of ready taxi drivers and wlked over to a slightly older bald man she stood next to his cab. "Where to lady?" "Downtown L.A. please." "No problem." He took her bag and placed it in the bacseat behind him. She sat next to it and watched him quickly entered the car. He started the meter and moved out into traffic quickly She tried to start a conversation. "So you hear on business or pleasure?" He asked smiling looking back at her briefly in the mirror at her. "Not that its any of your business, but I'm here for both, just here for the night to shop a little, then Im gone." "To where?" "Well that right now isn't important she." Looking at him briefly in the rear view mirror. " Oh and please keep your eyes on the road, you may hit the car in front of you." The man looked at the road again and quickly applied the brake. The car stopped a bit before proceeding on down the street. She only smiled as he moved alongand stared out the window. She saw many well known places and some new ones that just came out. She was happy to see it one last time. She put her ear buds in once more and enjoyed the rest of the ride, listening to the upbeat yet laid back tunes.
Corey
Allen- "Just go away. i don't want to have to yell at you, so just leave." The man stood, holding out a pen and a slip of paper with a frown on his face. Until Allen had spoke, the man had been filled with glee. "I don't do autographs." He pushed by, exiting the airport and walking out into the cloudless California weather. A breeze ruffled his hair slightly, making him smile and inhale the sweet air. He turned his head in the direction of New Madison's downtown, looking at the skyscrapers of titanium and blue glass. Located but a few dozen miles from Silicon Valley, New Madison was one of the technological majors in the world. It constantly was creating new programs and new technologies. As he watched, a pillar of metal rose out of a scyscraper. It looked to be about twohundred feet tall and no more than six or seven feet across. It stopped suddenly and let out one long beam of red light directly into space. ???- "That's the information center for Saturn Mining corporation. That info burst will get there in about three or four days. It's amazing what we have now-a-days." The beam stopped suddenly and the piller decended back into the building. Allen turned to see who had spoken to him. It was the man in the suit. Allen- "What do you want." He began to walk away. The man followed, still smiling that same smug smile. ???- "My name, for I think it's long overdue I introduce myself, is Nicholas Wylde. I work for The Red Party. We're-" Allen- "I know who you are. You're the people the government call when they don't want to take the risk of such a dangerous mission. I've already figured that out. Tell me what you want and what you're doing here, or I'm getting in this cab and leaving your ass." The mand stopped next to the yellow cab and smiled at Allen. Nicholas- "I'm here to escort you to Mission Control. There you'll meet up with your team. One is already there." The cabbie pulled away, obviously flustered at the bullshit wavedown. A black Buick pulled up. "Coming?" He opened the door and motioned in.
Gavin
7 Hours Later It seemed he'd underestimated the guile of Dr. Birch who'd seemed to have a couple of accomplices on board the plane who were equally intent to annoy him. Van had to endure four different people besides Birch who seemed to know who he was and asking him about making deals with various pharmaceutical companies, after the first two Van made it clear that he had no intention of even answering their questions. However this left them unfazed and they continued speaking even as he plainly ignored them. Finally Van had had enough and walked up to the bar to get a drink and some peace, while there he managed to be able to slip some tranquillisers into the drinks of his would-be interviewers. Once the last one had fallen to sleep Van leaned back to get some rest. His dreams were the same as they'd been for the last few weeks, Sam crying out for help as his numerous hell-spawned offspring attacked him, tearing him apart as he cried out for help. 5 Hours Later Van watched at the aircraft touched down on the tarmac runway at the airport, it had been a very long flight and Van still feeling exhausted tired even after his nightmare filled sleep. He pulled himself from his seat and took out his luggage in preparation for leaving the plane and heading to New Madison, Van had heard a lot about the place but never visited. It seemed that Birch had seen Van's little ploy and was busy shaking his cohorts away with a look of pure spite across his face. Van stepped out into the fresh air and at once felt better, it was strangely stale but Los Angeles was a very large city. Hailing a taxi Van found himself once again pursued by the now relentless Dr Birch, if only Van had a gun he may have done something he'd later regret. The taxi pulled up and Van stepped in followed by Birch, he seemed only too intent to share the cab but a swift shove from Van saw him down onto the curb. Cabby: So where you headed dude ? Van: New Madison please, and if that worm out there asks you to stop please don't. Cabby: You're the boss Doc Ambrose. Van: How do you know my name ? Cabby: Hell at Med. School there's entire theories devoted to you, some are a little on the funky side and not so flattering. Van: So your a Doctor in training I suppose ?, Would you mind if we talk on the way I'm in a bit of a hurry. Cabby: Hey no problem and yeah I'm in Med. School, second year there. Phillip O'Donnell, Biogenetic Research. Van: Look I know you might love to question me an everything but I'm quite tired from the flight from Ireland... O'Donnell is an Irish name, your father Irish ? Phillip: Yeah he's from Tipperary, near something called Slievenamon you now the place ? Van: It's a mountain and yeah I live there hands him $200, Alright I'm gonna snooze for a while, give me a shout when we get there. Phillip: Woah, thanks man. 45 Minutes Later Phillip: Doc Ambrose, wake up, we're here. Van: Uhhh, Thanks kid, keep the change and stay in school. Van stepped out although so did Phillip, he asked Van to come with him and that he'd take him to the Control Room to meet with the others, Van frowned for not seeing through the obvious deception put on by the kid but he supposed the accent had fooled him. Van: So where are we headed ? Phillip: It's not far to Mission Control but I thought you'd like some tea first. Van: And I suppose your not a Med. Student either. Phillip: Actually I was about 6 years ago now I'm a Doctor of Biogenetics here and yes my father is Irish from Tipperary so I haven't lied to you yet. Van was lead into an open cafeteria where he found Allen sitting with several other gentlemen. Allen saw him and stood up at the two embraced each other, Phillip had gone to get Van his tea and Allen obviously knew what was on Van's mind. Allen: The others will be along shortly Van.
Hinata
"We're here sweetheart," the taxi driver said as he pulled up to a corner. Trini looked out the window some more as she continued to look for the shop she wanted ot hit up. Everything else in LA looked kinda boring so she knew it wasn't going to be long before she made her way to new Madison. She looked at her shop and then back to the man to get her credit card. "Thanks, um I gotta favor to ask." The man looked back eyes opened wide seeing a bit of disappointment in the ledies eyes. "What time do you want me to come back and get ya?" She glanced at her watch. 7:30 "Two hours. Then I wish to go to New Madison." "No problem then I'll just go ahead and take my break now, and I'll even be here 15 minutes early." A grin came across his face. Seeing how much he was flirting she touched him lightly on the shoulders before getting out. "Thanks." She quickly left the cab and saw the shop. On the window it said Sassy Cutz Luckily they were open till 10 and they allowed walk ins. She went in quickly and asked for a shampoo and cut. She looked at her long locks one last time. Knowing this was the last time she'd get to do this. What could it hurt. A chair was open ans she placed her head in the capable ands of the beautician. "So honey how short do you want it?" She asked, wrapping a drape over her and escorting her to the wash bowl. Trini stared at her locks in the mirror one last time before she sat down. "How short do you think it could go and still make me look good?" The lady laughed a bit and sat Trini down. "I got one style that will work great for you." ONE HOUR FORTY-FIVE MINUTES LATER.... "Oooh wee sweety, you got dolled up just for me." The taxi driver said ushering Trini into the car. She only smiled feeling a little self- conscience about herself, she hadn't seen the cut yet and she was kind of afraid to, she was waiting for the right time. She wanted to see how her 'family ' would react. "Thanks, now can we get going?" "Sure, sure," he said stumbling into the car and heading on his way, "New Madison right?" "Yes sir," she said looking at the lights of LA. She wispered to herself and only hoped they liked it. Guys I hope I didn't go too far. ONE HOUR LATER "Well Missy, I have enjoyed your company, may your business, and PLEASURE, go well." Trini only smiled once more, and glanced at her watch, 10:20 and payed the taxi driver well. "Thank you... for taking good care of me." She walked out of the cab and up to the building. A guard stood watch and lead her to the others. Allen, Van and a buch of people were there, She didn't see their faces yet but already a smart remark was coming out of Allen's mouth. "Late again..." he turned around to see her standing there hardling recognizing the woman, "....Trini." "I'm happy to see you too Allen," she said touching him on the shoulder and smiling at Van. "You too, Van." She found a seat and only grinned.
Raiha
The taxi roared off in the distance, and she looked up at the building she had been led to by the e-mail she had recieved. She pushed her hair back once more, livening it up with her fingers, and redid the clips. A tall functionary stood by the doors and greeted her with a slight bow. "Are you here for the meeting miss?" "Yes, where is it?" "Cafeteria miss, can't miss it." "Thank you." She entered and made tracks for the nearest bathroom, and changed her clothes after giving herself the best spongebath she could manage. ".....travel.....terrible for this time of year." She shook her head in disgust, at the havoc it wreaked with her body, then got dressed. A simple pants suit, short sleeves, long flared pants, and matching heels. She smiled and picked up her things. This was going to be more than just a little interesting. Lilia walked out into the brightly lit hallway and followed the signs until she found the cafeteria. Upon quick inspection, she saw the group of older men that would obviously be part of the group. She took a deep breath and pushed the double swinging doors open. One of them stood up to greet her, and she smiled slightly. He held out his hand and she took it in hers firmly. "Lilia Sethen, Communications specialist."
Baron Samedi
Ntahan woke early, and headed into the adjoining ensuite to freshen up. Spartan, but bearable. After a warm shower, he headed downstairs to the dormitory cafe. He had a big breakfast, and as he was about to leave he was approached by a security guard. The guard gave him some details of a meeting in New Madison itself. Nathan asked the guard to call a cab, and took his Dyleksthin shot while he waited. A quarter of an hour later, the cab rolled up. An hours drive into the city proper, wending his way in between the traffic. He reached the cafe exactly ten minutes early. Tucking his identity card into an inner pocket on his navy blue windbreaker, Nathan stepped lightly out onto the pavement. Moving with ease through the mad press of people, he stepped into the cool interior of the cafe from the street entrance. Taking a small, rear booth, he ordered a bottle of water, and waited for the others to show up. Dagger
Helena passed through the airport without removing her headphones, instead lowering the volume just enough to hear nearby conversation. Chopin still played softly in the background, soothing her nerves as she steeled herself to meet the crew. On the plane she'd worn flats and a pair of slim drawstring pants, but Helena always felt more confident in gender-specific clothing. She slipped into the cleanest public bathroom she could find, taking some time to smooth her cornsilk-colored hair. When she had changed into a knee-length skirt and sharply pointed slingbacks, Helena hailed a taxi, carrying her bags herself rather than letting the driver handle them. Strikingly attractive in white clothing and high heels, Helena radiated unavailability. Perhaps it was the distance in her eyes. As the cab drove towards her destination, she stared silently at the busy streets outside, mentally reviewing what she'd been told about her future colleages. She had learned more about them than they knew of themselves, but it was now time to let that go and pretend that she knew nothing. Though outwardly calm, Helena was thrumming with excitement. She loved her job. After she arrived, Helena zeroed in on one of the building's many attendants, smiling warmly as she spoke. "Could you direct me to the meeting, please?" He discreetly glanced her over. "That way, ma'am. It's in the cafeteria." She picked up her luggage, inclining her head to indicate her thanks, and walked calmly down the hallway, her shoes clicking rhythmically against the polished floor. Radaghast
"Holy shit, that thing's a monster." Ralph stumbled out of the room that held the thing that used to be Sam Tiller. "Tell me about it. Your shift just end?" "Yeah." Ralph started to take his shirt off. On his face was a look of extreme disgust as he pulled the blood-soaked uniform off of his body. "Damnit, they're going to take that out of my paycheck." He continued to strip himself of clothing, but stopped when he got to his boxers. "Hey, Fred. Can you turn around? You know how homo-phobic I am." "No problem man." Fred turned his back, but continued to talk. "You know that feeling you get when you look at him? Even when he's sleeping. It feels like he knows all your secrets, your fears, everything. Pure evil." Fred raised his voice as his friend turned the shower on. "Why haven't we killed him yet? He's a hazard. Those things coming out of him get bigger day by day." "What, you don't think we've tried to kill him yet? It doesn't work. One of his old friends did it. I can't remember the name; it was something about being fat. Chubby, or something." "His name is Chubb. Honestly, don't you watch the news? He's practically a legend. I think there was this whole video scandal. Someone from the service was reviewing the tapes from the mission and found some....very adult moments. He posted them on the internet." "Yeah? How was it." "Man," Fred lowered his voice as his friend stepped out of the shower and started to put his clothes back on, "they were really going at it. Terrible lighting though." He heard his friend laugh. "They don't know who she was. There wasn't any record of her on the mission. They didn't find her in an escape pod, but they did find an empty pod. Anyways, she was really, really into it. Hell, I would pass up my wife for a chance with her." Fred laughed. "But don't tell Lucy that, OK?." Fred waited for his friends' reply, but only heard a soft grinding sound. "Ralph?" Fred turned around. Ralph's dead eyes looked up a Fred. They were cold, accusing. "What the hell?" Fred looked down his friends naked body. Or what was left of it. One of the creatures had been silently devouring his friend while he talked. "Shit!" Fred reached for his gun, and shot off one of the monsters multiple legs. As blue blood spurted from the stump of the leg, the monster advanced. Almost too quick for the eye, the spider-like demon climbed up the bank of lockers as Fred shot at the spot where the spider used to be. The thing lept onto his chest and began to tear the skin open with its legs. As soft gurgle came from Fred's throat as he fell to the floor. An alarm sounded.
Gavin
Van felt his legs going numb from sitting too long and decided to go for a little walk around the room to get the circulation going again. Standing up he moved out towards the hallway before stopping and rubbing his legs to try and get the feeling back, he saw a young woman coming down the corridor, she was very beautiful even to a 71 year old man like Van. There was something about her that Van couldn't place his finger on, did he know her, didn't he or was she someone he recognised from the news. She was dressed in all white with very attractive facial features, pale blue eyes and shoulder length blonde hair. Her eyes met with his when they were about 4 meters from one another, she stopped and narrowed them as if she was scanning him, it was eerie in a sort of way and made Van feel quite uncomfortable. There was definitely military training about her, she had the posture and the look about her that just seemed to cry out that she'd been training with military precision. Her eyes moved up and down his body before resting on the name tag on the upper left side of his chest. Her eyes widened for a moment and then returned to a normal width neither surprised looking or suspicious. She spoke in a calm, clear voice with a hint of a French accent. Helena: Doctor Ambrose is it ?, that would make you Dr Van Ambrose Cheif Medical Officer of the Bladerunner 15 years ago. Van: Dr Ambrose is a bit too formal for my likings, but yes that's me. And you are ? Helena: Helena Bahbem, I'll be the Strategy Specialist on this mission. The rest of the crew are on their way here hopefully so we're having an informal meeting before the proper briefing. Van walking nodded to the person accompanying Helena who promptly left the too and returned to the outer perimeter of the building. Van put his hand forward to allow Helena to pass him as they re-entered the room, and they informed her where Allen and the others were sitting. Walking at a brisk pace Van poured himself a cup of Turkish Apple tea before rejoining the group as Helena finished introducing herself to the rest of the crew. It was then that he noticed another person had entered the room and was heading straight for them, she was dressed in a light grey suit and had dark brown hair and a had a look that Van couldn't quite determine... excitement maybe. Van stood up as he approached and held out his hand to meet hers. Lilia: Lilia Sethen, Communications specialist. Van: Dr Van Ambrose, Cheif Medical Officer.
Raiha
"I understand you were part of the original mission." "That I was, I worked closely with almost every member of the crew." "Then you knew Satell." "Yes, very well, she was my patient on several occasions. ....how do you know about her?" "My mother used to work with her. Awhile back, she was part of the same military division." She smiled almost egnimatically, her eyes seeming to shift from one color to the next. Van blinked, and everything returned to normal. He smiled congenially and took her arm, leading her to the table. The Captain turned and appraised her. She, never one to be looked down upon, stood and smiled in an almost heartbreaking way. For a moment, she reminded him so strongly of Satell that he almost gasped aloud. Then the moment passed and Lilia Sethen was holding out her hand for him to shake. "Captain Chubbs. Pleasure." "You're the Communications Specialist?" "The very same." "This will be interesting." "I certainly hope so." She bowed slightly, an aftereffect of being in the Orient for so long. The captain smiled slightly and Mr. Ambrose looked quite amused.
Hinata
Trini saw the expression come upon Allen's face and had no reason to disagree with the feeling. She saw the woman as well and her chin dropped to the table like a man fawning over a lady. She had to shake her head and remind herself of the events many years ago. A slight chill came over her and she stood up quickly and approached Allen. "Hey Trini," Van stopped her and introduced her to the young lady." Meet Lilia. She's our new Communications specialist." "Hello," Trini spoke as she extended her hand to the young lady. "I'm the Medical Assistant, Trini Angelos." "Nice to meet you Trini," the young lady said also extending her hand. The two of them gave each other slight reasuuring smiles before Trini began to get a horrible headache. She began to bend down slightly as she let go of Lilia's hand. "Are you okay Trini," Van said stepping closer to her, seeing what was going on. "I'm getting this really bad headache, like I used to get back then..." "Back when," Allen said also stepping forward to the slouching woman." When...." "When we were on....the ship....." The pain got slightly worse," After Satell.... healed me...." She panted a bit the pain hitting her like a woman in labor." It's.... Sam.....he's let one get out......."
Corey
Got you covered Baron. --- Allens eyes shot wide open. He gripped the metal table hard enough to make several of his digits pop with age and stress. His face drained of color and his heartbeat tripled. Lilia turned to Trini. Lilia- "What?" Allen- "No..." He sprang up and threw the plexiglass door open. It struck the wall on its hinges and spiderwebbed from the inside out. Allen bolted down the hall just as the alarm began to sound. Everything was moving too slowly. The pulse of the red lights seemed ages apart. The pounding of his feet on the cold metal floor seemed too far apart and weighed down, almost like running beneath the water. Several armed men sprinted into the hall that Allen was in, nearly knocking him over. They ran in front of Allen for what seemed like minutes before turning down another hallway. Allen turned with them, entering a portion of the complex with no windows and a dark metallic blue sheen to the walls. ???- "Delta team, move in!" Half of the armed men sprinted forward and ran into an open door. Screams followed along with a sheet of crimson blood exiting the door. "Bravo team, load explosive shells! Move in!" The remaining men ran into the room. Several explosions were heard beside several screams. An inhuman growl rose up, making the hair on Allens neck stand up. Someone grabbed his shoulder, making him yelp with surprise. He turned quickly, finding Trini there and the others running down the hall behind her. The growl sounded again, making him turn quickly, eyes alight with fear. One long, insect-like leg stepped out of the room. Then another. They made clicking sounds against the metal floor. Allen- "Oh God..." The rest of the monster stepped out of the room. It's rather small body was supported on six long, and extremely strong looking, legs. It's body was the shape of an overstuffed backpack. Three beady eyes looked out from the 'face' of the creature, filled with pure malice. It growled, four long, serated appendages extending from a gaping opening in it's 'face'. "No..." The monster looked at him, seeming to calculate his danger, and advanced. Trini- "Allen! Run!" He heard Trini pounding down the hallway. He tried to move his legs. but they wouldn't budge. It was like his joints had been filled with fast-dry cement. His eyes remained fixed on the creatures eyes. It stopped less than a foot in front of him, a gleam in it's un-natural eyes. Small drips of yellow saliva hung from it's mouth. It let out another growl. Allen shut his eyes, the only thing he seemed able to do. A loud bang sounded, making Allen jump, his joints magically unfroze. He stumbled backwards, landing on his ***, and snapping his eyes open. The creature was crushed under a large metal bookshelf, blue blood leaked across the floor and splattered on the walls. A beast of a man stood on the opposite side of the monsters corpse. ???- "Mr. Chubbs?" Allen nodded, shocked. "I'm Nathan Rahl, your security officer." He extended his hand to help Allen up. He took it and stood on shaky legs. He tried to compose his face, eyes darting back to the creature every so often. Allen- "Ahem... Well, Mr. Rahl... I'd say you're doing an excellent job." He almost fell over and was steadied by Nathan. Several armed people were coming into the hallways. "Let's go back to the meeting room, shall we?" He threw his arm over Nathans shoulders so as not to fall again, and slowly guided him back to the room.
Baron Samedi
[OOC] Bit off the ball KOTR :p. I am a free man now] [Just remove the handcuffs. And I am Nathan Rahl] Nathan helped the shaky Captain over the wreckage. He had known something was up as soon as he saw Chubbs rush to his feet and out of the Cafeteria. He had barrelled down the corridor, pushing the other crew members out of the way. Skidding around the corner he watched as the horrible spider-creature scuttle towards Chubb. He had stepped forward, and kicked it in one of it's bulbous eyes, which gave him a few extra seconds to pull down the bookcase. This was something weird. Sitting Chubb back down at the table, Nathan leaned forward and said, in gentle tones. "What the **** is this mission really about?" Allen took a deep breath and leaned back in his chair.
Corey
Allen scanned the room, glancing distractedly at a personel sheet he had been given. Everyone was here... Except for one Adam Faulkner. He looked around again, making completely sure he wasn't in the shadows as Rahl had been. Allen- "Mr. Faulkner?" A few looked around. "Adam Faulkner?" The door opened and a man stepped in. "Adam Faulkner I presume." The man nodded and took a seat, a small blush kreeping up his face. "Ok, we're all here." A knock sounded at the door. Allen sighed. "What!?" A man in a suit came in. It was... "Nicholas... Why is it I expected you here?" He smiled his smug smile. Nicholas- "I have as much right to be here as any of these people. You see, Mr. Chubbs, I'm accompanying you on this mission." He handed Allen a piece of paper with a few paragraphs on it. He read it slowly, letting each word sink in, glancing up at the smug man every few seconds to reiterate the fact he was standing there. Allen- "This is bulshit." He crumpled up the paper and tossed it at the man. It hit him in the right shoulder and bounced off, onto the floor. "You're not coming with." He picked up the paper and carefully distributed it into the wastecan. Nicholas- "I am, Mr. Chubbs. And unless you don't want to go, you have no choice." He sat in the last remaining chair and leaned back, extremely pleased with himself. Allen glared at him for a minute longer before turning back to his crew. Allen- "Ok, introductions all around. I am Captain Allen Chubbs." Trini shifted a bit. Trini- "Trini Angelos, Medical Assistant." Van- "Van Ambrose, Physician." Lilia- "Lilia Sethen, Communications." Helena- "Helena Bahbem, Strategist." Nathan- "Nathan Rahl, Security." Adam- "Adam Faulkner, Engineer. I'm sorry for being late." Allen nodded. Nicholas- "I am Nicholas Wylde, a repres-" Allen- "I do not care who you are. Neither does my crew. You are here against my will and therefore a nuisance to this mission. If you say another word, I will shut you up." Nicholas' smile faultered momentarily before regaining it's smug composure. He look out at his crew. "This is not a rescue mission. This is a mission to cure a good friend of mine. His name is Sam Tiller, for those of you that do not know him. He's been 'infected' by a disease from another dimension. I'd go into detail, but we have none. All we know is that he is spawning creatures from the other dimension.... And we cannot kill him. Nicholas held out a manilla folder to Allen. He snatched it and passed out the photographs inside. "This is what seems to be a gateway to the other dimension. It is in the exact same spot where the Event Horizon was destroyed fifteen years ago." He watched Van and Trini visibly shiver. Sam screamed down the hall. "This little piece of pond scum sent a ship to investigate, but they believe it was sucked in. Nothing is coming out, so we assume it's a one way. We also believe that it might be Sam's only hope of being saved. The Red Party, who he works for, has people that have senced this. Psychics. I've never known a psychic to lie, so I do trust them." He cleared his throat and looked at Nicholas. "If you've lied to me I will kill you." THe man nodded submissively. Allen turned back to the others. "We are to go there and attempt to draw out the 'disease'. Perhaps make it go back home. It won't be easy and the risks are high. If anyone doesn't want to go through with it then speak now and we will get you a plane back to your home." No one moved. They just sat silently. Allen- "Ok. Our ship is docked in the New Madison Spaceport. We'll be leaving in two days at 0600 hours. That gives you just under 48 hours to get everything ready to go. Rest up, and have fun. It might be the last time for a while." Allen stood up and walked from the room.
Raiha
Lilia Sethen rolled her eyes and set her backpack on the table. As far as she was concerned, there was absoutely nothing to do until that point in time. Her family was content, she had no pressing social engagements, and certainly nobody to impress. She smoothed down the sides of her pants, they had been slightly creased in her rush to be on time, and looked up. For the most part, the people had dispersed, leaving herself, the Captain, and a rather bemused Mr. Van Ambrose. She shrugged and picked up her tea. "Lovely start to the day, don't you think? Mutated bugs, a bookshelf, and a *****." The two men in attendence looked at her. Her voice conveyed a sense of both sarcasm and deep amusement, but on the exterior she was looking as cool as...god knows what. "Quite. Where are you staying?" "Nowhere in particular. Why?" "No reason." "....oh."
Dagger
48 hours, Helena mused. I suppose some relaxation would be nice. If that monster was any indication of they had to face, rest and sleep would soon become scarce commodities. She left the building quickly, bidding farewell to the doormen with a brief, bland smile, and began to make her way downtown. As she strode down the sidewalk, brushing her way past pedestrians without ever veering from her course, she switched on her cellphone and made a call to a hotel. Helena spoke discreetly, reluctant to inflict her conversation upon others. This day called for shopping, cat-napping, and perhaps a low-key evening at the nearest bar. How long would it be before she walked the earth again? Though the hotel in question should have been fully booked, Helena charmed her way into an empty room. It was small and cramped, equipped only with the bare essentials: a bed, a TV, a clean but tiny shower. "My last night on the planet," she murmured softly, unstrapping her shoes and tossing them neatly into a corner. "Wonderful."
Hinata
The meeting ended with no complaints on Trini's mind, but she knew rest and fun was going to be the last things on her mind. She stood in the hallway and waited, she wanted to speak with Allen and Van for a moment but they stayed inside the room speaking with Lilia. She stayed put a little longer before she began pacing and her mind racing with the thought. She heard it. The monster but even lower she heard a biwildered Sam. She couldn;t leave her teammate like that, but she knew she couldn't visit him alone either. She'd wait...she's have to wait... "DAMNIT!" She yelled hitting the wall not too far from the meeting room. She kept her hand there for a moment , ignoring the pain and feeling the helplessness once again gather in her soul. A helplessness she had hope she left far behind. She kept the hand there turning the helplessness into anger, something she had did many times before and she found it to be an easy way out instaed of hating herself. She removed her fist from the wall revealing four spots of blood where her knuckles connected with the wall. She turned back to the room and walked in disturbing the conversation between the three people still located in the room. She sat beside Allen and tried her best to remain cool. "I need to find all of Sam's correspondence immediately?" "What do you want em for Trini, I've already looked over them, there's nothing but him speaking of what's been going on to him within the books." "I need to find them Allen, I don't want to sit here for 48 hours doin nothing, I need to see if there is something in there that I can use to-" "To what?" "I heard him Allen." Allen's eyes stared blankly at her. "Heard who-" "Sam, he was speaking to me, lightly enough but I heard him." "When, did you just go to see him? Is he-" "No," she started, " when the monster came out, I heard two voices, the monsters as well as Sam's he's still in there Allen, we have to try to speak with him."
Baron Samedi
Nathan brushed in front of someone as he left the civilian side of the restaurant, stepping out onto the pavement, delighting in the swirl of hot air from exhausts. Putting his head down, he walked unhurriedly down the footpath. Damn it, he knew he had done and seem some horrible stuff in his life... but those creatures! And they kept coming out bigger. How were they going to keep Sam under control on the ship? So many questions. This was freaky. On the other hand he was free from jail. Unrestrained. He could just leave right now. But he wouldn't. Loyalty prevented him from it. The same loyalty that confounded the CIA as again and again they beat him, shocked him, trying to make him tell them about his employer. Not a word passed Nathan's lips. Watching from the corner of his eye, he watched as a pickpocket edged closer and closer to him. But wait... the pickpocket was putting something inside his coat pocket. Nathan walked onwards a few steps, pretending not to notice, but when he spun around... the pickpocket was gone. Sitting down on a splintery bench, he pulled out the note. And his face blanched. On it, depicted in blue ink, was a finely detailed picture of a wolf's head. Staring down at the paper, he didn?t look up as the man sat next to him, nor did he flinch when the cold prod of iron nudged his ribs. So, it was like this hey? ?The boss believes you have been compromised? said the grim man seated next to him. ?Well, you know what you can tell the boss?? said Nathan. Then, moving with a speed hardly credible for a man of his size, he spun around, slapping the pistol against the back of the seat and slamming his other hand into the man jaw. Blood spurted everywhere. But Nathan could not bring himself to kill this man. Not with Dyleksthin running in his system. He couldn?t. Nathan sprinted to the underpass, and emerged out on the other side of the busy road moments later. Hailing a taxi, he drove off. Lying on the bench, blood dripping down his face, the mystery man grimaced. ?Nathan, you fool. You can?t escape. Once in, never out. We?ll be on the ship. You poor fool. Watch your friends?? The man passed out, as uncaring people hurried past. [Clues for you all ;) ]
