OtakuSennen
Yes, I was very bored tonight, and decided that my Johnny the Homicidal Maniac theme had run its course. I then thought that creating a set of Witch Hunter Robin banners (plus an avatar to match) would be worth it, if done well. This is the first one I made, and is in my opinion the best one. I took a screen shot from the opening Witch Hunter Robin sequence, added the logo, and put in a second screen. It worked out rather nicely. The logo is sort of scratchy looking.. It pasted in and kept part of the border, which made a bad effect. The second Witch Hunter Robin banner. It doesn't have a border, and I know I'll be scorned for that (particularly by AzureWolf and Kazuko), but it would have looked too closed in if it had such a thing around it. This one took the shortest amount of time to make, probably because I didn't do the black background with feathering of the image. I like how this one seems very solemn and dark. The image alone was very dramatic, but adding the black border and lightening the background behind Robin's back added to the feel. This one is certainly good. Oh, what a poor job I did on this one. I resized my current MyOtaku icon, and it did not turn out well. It's far too small to read the logo and the quality got smashed when it went from .PNG to .JPG. I then made this one. Its dark blue and gray hues match the banners more than the bright orange in the other avatar, plus it seems to be of higher quality anyway. I added a regular 2-pixel black border, and decided to leave it alone. Adding any text would clutter it some. So there you have it, the three banners I will have circulating in my signature (In a random image PHP file, of course), my new avatar, and a reject ava that shall never see the light of day again.
Haze
Awww...that poor avi...never to see the light of day again? poor it. I love them Sennen. I think my favorite would be number 1. I like how there are 2 layers to it....kind of like one of them is thinking of the other...but not. ^^ I do agree that the logo got fuzzy. It is also a bit too small to read. THat is really the only thing wrong with any of them. Number 2 has me in a conflict. I think there should be a border on all banners, but on this one....it just wouldn't look right. It would box it in too much. So I would just tell Azure that it has a white border. x__x I love the third one. It looks kind of dark and mysterious. Sulky in a way too. It looks great. ANd you pretty much already said everything for the avitars. You know, when you comment on your stuff, it messes stuff up for us that comment. *nods* All I did was really rephrase a bit of yours and a touch or two more than what you said. Arcadia
I've talked to you about this show before, and I forgot to mention that one of the things that appeals to me about it is her hair. o_O It's just so cool looking. So I kind of like the second banner, just for that, but I think I have to agree with you and say the first is the best. Perhaps if you put some sort of border on the second, it would look even shnazzier. (Yes, I've made up a new word, just for your banner. :p) Both avatars are very pretty, although I do like the one you have on your mO better. I think it's just because of the effect of the gold and the black/dark grays together. That, and his expression is so cool. Heh. Lovely work, Senny! ^_^
Shinmaru
Earlier on today when I tried to see your newest work, I got the dreaded "red x's of doom" but since you were so kind to provide me with a link to this thread, I see that they're back up again :) I think your avatar is very well done. I like the misty, hazy effect; looks quite fantastic, I think. Good job with it, heh. And, since I love your avatar so much, it's kinda obvious that the first banner is my favorite of the banners. Just a very well done banner, I think. Not much more I can say. The last two banners are also very well done, but I simply prefer the first one. The lack of borders on them doesn't really hinder them, I think; if you had added a border it would have done more bad than good. At least, from what I can see (I'm looking at them on a crappy monitor right now, bleh). Overall, good work. If I were inclined to give out number ratings, these would score plenty high. Dagger
1. This banner is a little too small for my tastes, but I love it nonetheless. The thick, blurred border gives it a unique look and feel, especially seeing how as most people just use borders composed of one or two pixel lines. I particularly love how you blended the two screenshots, making the final image seem very soft and dreamlike. The Witch Hunter Robin logo is well placed, but the banner would be better off without it. 2. Meh, the stock image you used here just doesn't appeal to me. Try brightening it up a bit and adding a border (no, I don't think it would look overly closed in). 3. Almost perfect. If you could soften the banner's corners, so that they don't seem quite as sharp (at least in contrast to the rest of it), I'd like this one even more. The show's logo fits better here than it does in either of your other two banners. As for your current avatar, the two pixel border makes its appear somewhat divorced from the various banners that accompany it. I'd prefer a stronger blurred border, similar to what you used in #1 and #3. The stock, however, is very pretty. ~Dagger~
AzureWolf
Dagger's right: you can't get a divorce this early in life. Like everyone else, I think the first one is the best one. The border style has a Photoshop nature to it (i.e., people who use PS mostly make those kinds of borders). I really like it. The pictures are very cool for some reason, but the border is probably what takes it over the top. :p The second one is probalby the worst of the three (but is still good). Seriously, I think it's the border that helps with the banners. I mean, the "shadowed" effect it makes works with the Witch Hunter Robin theme, I'd say. Of course, choice of pictures and how you enhance them are primary, but the border is also part of the picture enhancement, I'd say. Your myO pic looks great as a myO pic, but sucks as an avatar. Conclusion: very nice work. You know how to theme anime's with their mood, it seems. Even better, you are finally not doing Eva, so that's always a step in the right direction. ;)
