Is it just me or is there an ad at the bottom of each page now?

If it's not just my imagination will it be better integrated into the next version of the boards and what cookie info is it sending away too google?

As far as I know, the ads on OtakuBoards will be a temporary reality. If you have been reading the main page of theOtaku.com, you will know that Adam recently upgraded our server's RAM. This was a one-off expensive cost that wasn't part of our regular expenses. So I assume that the ads are in place to cover that.

You'll note that the ads are text-only and that they are at the bottom of the page. We have also refused to use pop-up ads. So if we must use ads at various stages, we will always do so in a way that does not impede the services that we are trying to provide.

Shinji googles cookies already track you when ever you use google.com(.au/.nz) or any of its affiliated sites. The only reason people aren't all paranoid about their privacy is because well to put it simply the google bunch of people are insane and fun so they have an air of trust in the general community.

The only reason I quested what info was going where in this case is that this is an off google.com site and the ads could really be served from anywhere and be adding extra, non google controlled, cookies.

James, ah okay; if it's in the interest of maintenance or giving Adam back some thing for his constant work with this whole thing I have no problem at all with it. (Not that I'd get a choice in it, hehe.)
