I used to really like Linkin Park. I listen to a lot of different stuff now but they used to be my favorite band. They're still really good my taste has just changed. The songs actually had some depth to them. The best part was being able to blare it cuz it didn't have swearing. lol. And why the hell did Chester Bennington shave his head? It was cool when it was a mohawk for awhile but now they all look old. It's quite sad. Mike is still hott. I still love One Step Closer which was very different from all their other songs. I love Papercut and Forgotten. Faint was one of my favorites, too.

My BF will kill me if I didn't like Linkin Park! lol Just kidding. I like Linkin Park, I think their music is really good. I like to play it really loud! Their music does get a little repetitive though, the sounds are really similiar so I could never go out and buy the album for myself (I bought it for my BF). I like to have my music varied. If it's on the radio I'll really get into it though. I like Numb. Most people seem to like that song...even my 8 yr old sister agrees with me and we don't normally agree on music!

lol shhh dont say that:P LP is my ALL TIME FAV band! They have been since before Hybrid Theory came out! Chesters Screaming and singing is soo good, even Live! Usually good singers sound crappy live but they sound perfect!!!!
The problem that chester had. Something happened with his stomach, i forget what organ but it was failin so he had to get surgery to get it worked on(or get it out).. Hes all better now though:).

I hate hearing everything like they breakin up cuz I get soo mad even though I know its not true. I like them soo much and if they broke up I'd lose it all!!!! lol

My favorite songs would have to be.....Papercut, In The End, Somewhere I Belong, Numb, One Step Closer.....etc... Practically all of Hybrid Theory, most of Reanimation, and All of Meteora. The only thing i didnt like with Reanimation was the rappers... Im not into rap and they tried to make LP music sound like rap... I didnt appreciate it lol. Hope this is a positive post you are lookin for:D

What I have to say has already been said before.

They were good the first few times I listened through Hybrid Theory, and still are at times, but I find there's much better music than them out there. Their remix album, which the name escapes me, was a big let down for me. It just sounded way too rappy for me to ever find level ground in it. I mean, some of it was good, but most of it wasn't.

And their newer CD I didn't even bother with.

The bottom line is this: there's just better music than this out there, folks.

I would have to agree with you Mitch, except for a little bit more of a negative outlook on the whole Linkin Park music situation.

First, I can honestly say that I liked them back when I heard their first released singles because they seemed fresh and new on the scene and that's always a good place to start if you're going to become famous. Their stuff from Hybrid Theory was fun to listen to and when I first got a car and the radio played a little LP, I would crank it.

Keep in mind, though, that I was 15 years old when I first heard of them and I was not a huge music fan at the time. I was in band and all, but I was hardly in tune with what popular culture had to offer so hearing Linkin Park and having most of my friends drool over how cool it was made it a fairly attractive endeavor for me.

Over time, though, I have really lost almost all of my fandom for Linkin Park. Ever since they released that remix album and then Meteora, I discovered that their "new and fresh" style of music wasn't really new or fresh anymore. Whenever I hear the intro to a LP song, I can always tell it's them even if I've never heard the song before and that's the problem. In my opinion, using the same music style for 95% of your songs can get repetitive very easily and can also become annoying, which it has for me.

Basically, I used to like Linkin Park when they first arrived on the scene and when I was 15. As I matured and started to listen to all kinds of music and start to make my own judgements, I found that they weren't really (in my opinion) anything TOO spectacular. What I like is a band who can make each of their songs quite unique and can do that every album they produce. My expectations may be too high, but I feel that there are many other bands that get closer to accomplishing that goal than Linkin Park does.

So yes, I agree with Mitch. They aren't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but there are better things out there.

Over the years, I have realized this same thing. But the thing is, LP isn't something you can easily discard...at least it is to me. I have been listening to LP since I was, maybe, 10 and when I heard 'In The End', I felt my suicide tendency to withdraw. I didn't know why but I just dropped the knife and listened the song...so...really, LP is one of the few things keeping here.

I think they're spread too thin. Their music isn't as inventive as so many have fooled themselves into thinking. Some of their music is catchy, but it's shoved in your face so much it's hard not to get tired of.

However, I will say they are incredibly smart when it comes to single selection. Then again, I think their remaining album material is terrible which motivates me to avoid buying much, if at all from them.

However, they'll continue to be incredibly successful for two reasons:

1. They pump out cheesy angst-ridden lyrics.

2. They buy into that rock/rap combination which is an infallible combination considering what their target audience consists of.

The first time I heard Linkin Park I was completely rapt with them. And then I moved to a place where you couldn't get commercial radio and started listening to Triple J (alternorock). Then we moved back into commercial radio land again *shudder* and i was shocked to find the songs sounding ALMOST exactly the same.

My problem with them is two fold. They are repitive. One can predict the flow of their songs before you hear the second bar. And that is usually shout, whisper, sing, shout whisper etc. Secondly, they have been classed as nu metal, of which there is many bands that do it much better. Korn, for example, uses the shout etc. format but just by listening to the first few bars its flipping hard to pick one song from the next.

Like Mitch said, Linkin Park aint bad, there just not as good as a lot of stuff out there.

Post Script: I liked them once. Honest. :)

Linkin Park are okay, I usually don't mind listening to their songs the first few times. But they start to annoy me very quickly, for two main reasons. One, is that commercial radio stations grab hold of a song when it's released and play it over and over again until just hearing the first five seconds of the song makes you feel like banging your head against a wall (which is why I rarely ever listen to commercial radio anymore). And two, Linkin Park songs tend to be one teenage angst-ridden whine after another. If it's angst you're after, Trent Reznor does it a whole lot better.

Agreed. Although I'd refer to what he has as more of a backlash of anger and confusion due to deception and betrayal... But there's some hope. I wouldn't call it straight out "angst", but that's me heh.

I've never gotten the whole "No one else seems to like Linkin Park as much as I do!!" thing that comes up here. Nevermind the fact that they have probably the biggest threads here on a single band and they've already sold millions of albums... they must be unpopular.

MarkM, please put a little more effort into your posts. Don't just name two of your favorite songs. You have to have more to say than that.

I'm going to have to agree with a few people here. While I did like Linkin Park when they first came out, and I enjoy listening to their songs in doses, they just get a little redundant. (I would've said they were repetitive, but that sentence would just be dripping with irony.) When you listen to their lyrics, you get the same sense of betrayal and rejection. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of their songs were about the same person/s. I'm not asking that they start singing about sunshine and lollypops, but a little less angst couldn't hurt.

I'll stand alone as one of the few people who liked the rap elements of Reanimation.

Personally, I love Linkin Park. The band is one of my favorites, mostly because I enjoy and can relate to most of their songs in my own way. My favorite song by them is Breaking The Habit. I really like the way it sounds, and it sort of reminds me of the way I used to be. It's also given me inspiration for scenes in stories I write, as do Numb and Points of Authority, my other two favorites. The angst in their songs sometimes helps me deal with issues going on in my own life at the time, and I waver with my enjoyment of some songs based on my mood and the events going on in my life at the time.

Although, as much as I like all their songs, the only ones I really listen to any more are the three mentioned above. As Manic stated, they tend to get redundant after listening to them too often. I just think that Linkin Park should come out with some new songs, because they're getting to be overdue in my opinion.

LP sonically are really really irritating. In fact, I for a long time hated them. At least until I saw them live last summer.

Their music, lyrics, and all around goal as a band suck, no questions there, but their live performances are without a doubt, really really really fun to watch.

Anyone hating them, go ahead, but dont let them pass your town without seeing them at least once. They are that fun.

I kinda know what you mean, Darius_Stomu. 'Somewhere I Belong' and 'Crawling' mean more to me than anyone will ever know. Especially 'Crawling'.

I will always be a big fan of their's until they get to a point where their songs really do sound exactly alike. It's agreed that they are redundant as far as material goes, but creative enough not to get at that point of "that's Crawling with a different beat" just yet. I haven't gotten Meteora yet, but I hope to, soon as I get my first check.

I also would like to correct Manic, I too loved "Reanimation". I have "Its going down" with the X-Cutioners, an awesome song, and Reanimation gives some unique touches on their earlier works. I love the remixes of Papercut, One Step Closer, With You, Crawling, Caught in the Act, and Pushing Away far better than the originals, and My December is a great, heartfelt song. But I hate pointless interludes.

Oh and by the way:

High Voltage
Man, I hate this song
High Voltage
Worse than an old man in a thong
High Voltage
What were they on the bong
High Voltage
During the making of this song?

lol. I hate that song, barring the line "That's why I have to wear ruby quartz glasses" (an X-Men allusion for those who don't know.)

Get Meteora and you'll change your opinion. I think they took the idea of their songs being redundant into consideration and did a whole ew style. Meteora has so many awesome new songs on it. Amazing stuff. To me, they're not redundant. Just getting better. I just think they shouldn't of let those rappers sing in their songs in Reanimation. I don't like rap too much and my friends already gives them enough crap about them being rap.

Still... they're my favorite band ever and backing them up is the other band "Live" :D

I personally like Linkin Park. I can relate to most of there songs. I prefure Evanescence more though. I can relate to "Somewhere I Belong" the most.
