Xai
Level 16-18 is good for this battle. I used Shion, KOS-MOS, and chaos. It's a good idea to transfer healing ethers to other characters just in case you need an extra healer. I suggest that you don't use your A.G.W.S, they are a little too slow for fighting it. Try to stay high in HP. Shion's Medica All works well for healing everybody at once. When you need to, use an Ether Pack S to replenish lost EP. Take out the two Oudogougues first(they both have 1000 HP), because they can heal him and they use an ether attack called Hell's Flash each time that damages the entire party. Use close range attacks(KOS-MOS' R-DRILL works nicely) to beat them. Each time you beat an Oudogouge, Gargoyle/Cherenkov will power up. When the Oudogouges are gone, the battle will be much simpler, even though Gargoyle is fully powered now. He has a strong physical attack called Obsidian Claw and another called Hell's Lance. If you get the status effect Physical Def. Down, get rid of it as soon as possible! You'll recieve much more damage while in this status if you get hit(there's a good chance you'll die, too). Remember to heal and/or revive when needed also. chaos' Heaven's Wrath and KOS-MOS' R-DRILL are useful in fighting him. Shion is best for healing/curing status effects. (sorry if there's anything I missed, I haven't played in a while) Whoever moved this, Xenosaga is not a Square Enix title. It was done by Namco and Monolith -- Semjaza
Guest eyes_of_flame_8
um.......How about that one monster in the Miltia flashback that reacts to Shion and Jr.'s consciencious? I hopelessly lost!
SephirothNIN
Is that the one that analyzes the slot? My advice would be to keep resetting until the slot he analyzes is the stat+ or the no effect one. If he gets the critical he'll almost always do critical damage. And fighting him on boost is insane, I got a game over because he kept counterboosting. I don't remember when you can get the Braveheart accessory, but if you have it by then, use it! It increases your strength as your HP go down. For a lot of the game I'd keep the braveheart on someone like Jr., then use a hemlock item to bring his HP to 1, then you can do 4-5000 damage with his deathblows mwahaha
Ariadyne
The Militia Flashback (also known as the Encephelon) Boss inside the Church may REALLY suck if you don't know what to do. You have to actually kill it TWICE, HOWEVER if you do not deal the finishing blow with either Shion or Jr, you'll have to fight it AGAIN. When it reacts to Jr, it doesn't really do much damage, but when it reacts to Shion it can be quite annoying, so what you do is to keep fighting it, but keep an eye on it's HP, once it gets low, only attack with Shion. It won't be able to use Ruined Earth then. Once Shion destroys it, it will recover like, 5000 HP or something, so keep doing your favorite battle strategy with it again until it gets down low. Attack with Jr then and it will be destroyed. I always use KOS-MOS, chaos, and Shion. KOS-MOS is NOT in your party and you HAVE to use Jr, so my party consisted of Shion, Jr, and chaos. LEVEL UP ALOT by going back and fighting the Gnosis wandering around if the boss's attacks are REALLY hurting you. I always level up. It's all I do (besides Xeno Card). My chaos had "Heaven's Wrath" as a High-Speed attack, and I ALWAYS use that (or Angel Blow if I gotta take down alot of dudes, but there is only one enemy as the boss here, so stick with single enemy attacks) and my Shion's "Spell Ray" was a devastator, but that's probably only good for me because I had used it since the beginning and continued to level it up and set it as my high speed long distance attack. Jr, I had never really used him so I just quickly leveled up two of his attacks and made them High-Speed. And, I do NOT reccomend using A.G.W.S. in this battle, because the boss will react to Jr and knock them out (I don't use them anyway). I hope that is good enough for ya, I could go into alot of details, but it's my strategy and it might not work for everybody else.
Guest TheTrueKOSMOS
What lvl. would you adivse the char.s to be before they fight the Boss? In the future, please add a little more substance to your posts. In this case, more details about where you're at in the game, what level your characters are already, and stuff like that would've been helpful. Very short posts are often considered spam, since they rarely add anything to the thread. - Desbreko
Ariadyne
Just want to know if this:
What lvl. would you adivse the char.s to be before they fight the Boss?
Is refering to Tiamot (or something like that); the boss in the Encephelon's Miltia area. If so: I've only faught the boss twice because I only played through it twice. The first time I stopped and trained a bit until I was at about level 33-35 then went in a didn't have the slightest problem with Ruined Earth as I saw my friend have when I was at his house, but when I played through it the second time I didn't stop to train because I wanted to know if I could beat him at a lower level. I was only around level 25-27 and I never had any problems. If you're not sure, just do what I do and spend a few hours straight fighting the local enemies until you're god, then go show the boss exactly who should be boss, *lol*. Guest TheTrueKOSMOS
Lol Thanks. I don't think I'll train to where the char.s are at lvl 33 - 35,it would take quite a long time since their only at 22,on avg.,and that kind of time is not easy for me to get. Anyway. Thank you very much for your help, and as a warning, since you were so helpful,I will be bugging with more questions later on in the game :D
Guest ScirosDarkblade
I hear that the person who wrote the music for .hack//SIGN and Noir is scoring Xenosaga Episode 2. While I'm upset that it's not Yasunori Mitsuda (the best video game composer in my opinion), I am somewhat consoled by the fact that it's still somebody competent. I am guilty about not paying attention to the "Xenosaga News" as of recent times so I haven't heard of the composer change, but it's quite possible. Don't know how much the game will change with the difference in composers since I've only seen my friend play .hack//SIGN once and can't really remember the music that was playing. Regardless, Episode II: Beyond Good and Evil is definetly gonna be on my "to buy" list once August rolls around anyway. :D
Guest ScirosDarkblade
I just d/l'd all of IGN's Xenosaga Episode 2 hi-res videos, and the music is pretty decent. All except for the main music, which you see in the opening trailer/cutscene. That stuff I think sucks. But yeah, the new soundtrack will probably be worth getting ahold of. I especially liked what I heard in the longer, end-of-the-demo trailer.

Chi_16
Xenosaga for me was a tad bit challenging I looked in the guide I bought a wally world and I still had some minor glitches. But I finally beat the game! I thought it was good but it had a load of movie shorts in it. Im saveing money to buy the Second Xenosaga and did you know they are thinking about makeing it an anmie? Any way what were your thoughts on the game? Did you like it, Hate it? Shuiri
I -still- haven't beat Xenosaga. I was distracted heavily by an increasingly large number of games; But, frankly, I almost finished it. I think so, anyway .[30 hours in, or so.] But I liked it quite a bit. Granted, there was generally more watching cutscenes than actually playing the game, but that didn't bother me in the slightest. Given the easy option of skipping the cutscenes, it was an interesting concept, for lack of better word. Not much in the way of combat-heavy - Moreso on the story-heavy, which I generally enjoy. Once I wade through all these games I have lying around, I'll eventually beat it. Eventually..
Xx_Chaos_xX
Xenosaga fighting stytem was off by millions, so i took the game back. it was to slow and boring to play throught. You had to read like 15 pargrafs, go through 3 hour cut-sceans, just to play a game with clunckey controls, and lacking gameplay. Not wroth it. First of all, you do not have to read through 15 paragraphs at any point. You can, yes, but it is optional. There are loads of dialogue, which whether you feel you can take or not, are still there. So, no, you don't have to read 15 paragraphs. You sure can - But it is optional. And, mind you, I did not see any cutscenes ranging around 3 hours. Each was 45 min. or so, but nowhere near 3 hours.(They're skippable, as well) The lacking gameplay, however, is arguable - That of which stands as opinion. Same with clunky controls - But, honestly, what in the hell is clunky in regards to controls? There wasn't much gameplay, but I don't recall controls being unresponsive, or anything of the like. Refresh my memory on that.
Anime Pet
Hear, hear, Shuiri!! I completely agree. Xenosaga was one of the first PS2 games I got when I got my PS2, and I managed to make my way through it until the Song of Nephilim. THEN I had to go find the guide - I couldn't understand how to make the three color pillars work! Xenosaga 2 was a bit short, and heavy on the movies, but the ability to replay through the end with a completely new storyline is rather nice. I have a question: Scarbelle, in Xeno2 - how do you BEAT it?! The guide is no help at all, and I can't find a decent strategy anywhere. Just when it looks like I'm making progress: BLAMBLAMBLAM!!! It KILLS me!!!
Dagger
I started playing Episode I about a week ago, and I don't think I've ever been this focused on getting through a game. I love almost everything about it, including the absurdly long cut-scenes; the intricacy of the storyline is also a big plus, especially since it still pretty much makes sense. This is also the first game I've played in which I've liked using all of the characters--which is a good thing, heh, since I think it would probably make you deploy them in a pretty balanced way even if you didn't want to. I wouldn't be able to pick a favorite party. I especially like the fact that although the characters' strengths lie in different areas (which makes them individually interesting), there isn't a designated healer-type character or anything like that. Everyone can deal out some good damage. It's fun to get new tech attacks, but I don't use the characters' ether abilities very much except for healing and occasionally fixing status effects. I do wish that Shion would hurry up and get an all-enemies "Far" attack, since at this point
(I'm in the middle of evacuating people from the Foundation)
all of my other characters have them. Ah, well, I can't wait to find out what happens next. :animesmil ~Dagger~
Aberinkula
Ummm Dagger. This is a dead thread. No necromancy? Or is it Ok? Well if so i liked the game. Episode three will be out soon. I actually forgot about this thread! :animeswea I beat Xeno I a few times, since I kept missing stuff, but finally got 100% comp. Dagger
I finished last night. It took me a while to beat the final boss--it was really demoralizing to lose and have to
go down that stupid elevator
all over again. Plus, the
final final boss kept owning me with Dark Omen until I equipped better accessories and resigned myself to attacking solely with KOS-MOS.
Oh, and I guess I lied about not having a favorite party, haha. I ended up using chaos, KOS-MOS and Shion for most of the last dungeon (as well as the boss fights that followed). Anyway, the ending was good, albeit very Fellowship of the Rings in terms of showing you how little of the overall plot you've experienced. But I started Episode II this morning, so that should soon be remedied. ~Dagger~
Anime Pet
Really? I thought there was a save point after that elevator........Maybe you weren't leveled enough, because I was able to beat the boss my first try! :catgirl: My fav party was actually Jr, KOS-MOS, and Ziggy - I think I used Shion at the end instead of Ziggy, though. :animeswea
Sangome
Sangome used Max Revive! Xenosaga Episode I thread regained its health! I bought Xeno in March, played some of it, but then got distracted by the wonder that is KHII. Since I recrntly beat that, I started Xeno from the beginning, and lemme tell ya, I'm adoring it so far. The graphics, though released about three years ago, are very bright and good. I love the characters (save for some), and the story...well, I need to actually play more into the game. I'm stuck
in the Woglinde, when the Gnosis attack. I can't figure out how to escape...I'm lost.
I suck. XD Any help? Anyone? >.> But yeah, that's my input so far. More will be added. Tekkaman
Man, I haven't played 'Xenosaga: Episode I' in ages! I bought the game when it first came out and became smitten by the graphics and, best of all, the story line. I loved the game so much during that time period, I played it until I got 100% and was able to OWN the [final] bosses easily. When Episode II came out however, I was so dissapointed in the changes that the game took that I [literally] cried, never putting the game back into my PS2.
