Lord Rannos
Does anyone here practice Celtic Magic or any other sort? I got a book about it and my brother is helping me, but I need to figure out other books that would help me with my studies. I'm also getting a pendulum and some stones for focus. Any suggestions for what I should try next?
oshi
What kind of skills are you looking to strengthen? Celtic magick is steeped in legends, so it would probably do you a lot of good to look them over. Are you trying to stay only in Celtic, or are you okay with learning other types, too? Because Silver Ravenwolf is probably the best writer around, with a lot of books geared toward teaching and just plain understanding magick. Out of any author, I'd recommend her if you're beginning. Also, for help with will and intuition, Tarot cards, Ogham sticks, rune stones are all good. Only thing is, they all need to be used with responsibility. You have to remember that if someone really believes in one of your readings, you might potentially ruin their life--whether your reading was accurate or not. If you're just learning, try making an assortment of cards with different symbols on them: triangle, square; things you recognize and have meaning. Have someone else cover them one at a time with a cloth, and then you concentrate, and attempt to see what shape they are without removing the cloth. Trust me; it sounds a bit out-there, but in time it gets very easy to do. oshi
AzureWolf
I've got a really cool Celtic Font on my computer. Is that part of the practice? If so, that'd be really cool if you could learn that. You'd probably win handwriting awards for it if you could (and if there were handwriting awards). I like the Celtic Font. Sorry, but I had to say something! Okay, now with that said and done, I can get on to the real subject: I follow an ecclectic path which as you know basically means I pull whatever traditions I like the most and use them. So I really can't help you and your brother too much in that respect. Like Oshi said, the path of Celtic magick is full of traditions. Have you studied on other traditions and decided that this one is right for you? Or does someone in your family also folloow the Celtic path? If the later is the case then maybe you can ask that relative for some help. The best advice I can give as an Ecclectic witch is try your local occult shop and see if they have any books on the Celtic path or traditions. I really can't think on any titles at the moment tho. If you don't have an occult shop near you, or your occult shop doesn't carry books on your tradition you could try a local bookstore such as Barnes and Noble, Walden Books or, Borders. There's a good chance of finding something in the New Age section of these bookstores. Well, that's about all the help I can give. instantramen14
I follow an eclectic path as well. When I plan on calling a specific god/goddess to a circle, I research him/her. So learning the culture/ledgends is great. ^^ Its also great to learn other kinds of magic to supplement what you are learning now. I like Silver Ravenwolf's books and Cunninghams books (if your intrested in wicca or magick with herbs)
MarkM
I have never before heard of celtic magic in my life. I will have to google it up and see what I find. After im done with that I'll post some sites up so people (like me) will know what it is. -Mark EDIT: I found a really cool site! This celtic thing (to me) is a way to express your mental powers, its acually quite cool. Here is a page that shows wands, pendents, ect: http://www.celticmagic.co.uk/ and here is one that shows some spells and secrets: http://www.secretsandspells.co.uk/ They seem to be very cool sites. Of course, I usually tell people that they should read about it before they say something, but it doesn't always work out that way. The funniest thing is when people try to say that the devil is tricking you by saying he doesn't exist. Oh, adn thinking that my husband is a Warlock since ppl seem to think that's what a male witch is called But now that gets us off topic. one site you could try is Pagancollege.com. they give classes, I guess. Silver Raven Wolf and Raymond Buckland are good starts. You could also try Books that center on just teh celtic path since that's what you seem to be drawn to. Of course, if another path calls to you, don't be afraid to investigate that as well. That's all from me Blessed Be CHibi Horsewoman
