oshi
My school doesn't even have enough money right now to properly heat the building. In my health class, we were given a bag of flour in a burlap sack--with a face painted on it. Try nurturing that. I do love names, too. I name all sorts of things, and I give my friends nicknames, too. Fish, Yoshi, Bee, Mori-chan, and Virgo-boy (he doesn't know about that one). Each of my characters have about three different names, too, depending on which one of them is talking to the other. Uilleand is Uilly, Lea, or Butter, Kanuz is Ka, Kannie, or a**hole, and so one. *smile* Names for people? Well, I don't like ordinary names. I would not name my child any name that I would give my characters, but my characters are all happy with their names. Girls Isbel Shae Valmai Yue-Liang Mayonaka Alione Lilitu Sian Ophiel Boys Tristam (okay, this one is the one I want to use for my boy) Zaid Yasir Gavin Lynn Ewan Shanker Chester Nagaraka Kitsune Vinegar Tom I like last names better, actually. You can stick in some more meaning behind them, and just make them sound cool without everybody always having to call your character by some long, intricate name. Like these: Agaliarept Andromalius Dantalian Cimeries Sambula (I didn't make these up--that makes them more fun; if you can find words that no one's ever heard of. It makes for interesting namesakes.) Anyway. That illustrates my point. I don't want to give away any more of my precious names . . . precious, precious . . . . Guest Midnight Rush
Names are cool, rather popular to have a name though... In a lot of places peoples names were there occupation or their accomplishments. In Rome for example, a citizen would have their regular (prae)nomen (ie first name), and then a surname. But if they did anything great they'd get a cognomen (ie- Scippio "Africanus" was the man who conquered Roman Africa). In Feudal Japan most non-Samurai (not all though) were known like 1st Housemaid from Kyushu. They didn't have personal names, just there occupation a number and origin usually. People in certain "service industries" had names that reflected their particular 'talents' and 'skills'. Male: Dirk James Dante Lucius Julius Nelson Patrick ^_^ Arawn Yoshi Don Sun (as in Wu, Pin, Tzu ect.) Malcolm Marcus Angus Female: Angelique Joelle Ann-Rose Kiku Ryoko May-may (I read waaaaaaaaaay to much Clavell at times ^_^) Mercedes Carrera Jennifer (cliche perhaps, but a good name) Halle Lucy Alex(sandra) (sp? lol...so sorry) O-ren For a dog: Interceptor (FF3/6 anyone?) Huan Carcharoth Jormungand Inu-yasha Valentine (not val-en as in hen but val-en as in elegant) Taki Yoshimitsu For a cat: Bob Feles Shelob Tiara of the Damned Iggy Yikolomaritsugaga! Ok now its deteriorating, but anyways, that is what I would name things. Cool topic btw. People should give more thought into a name, not just look at the most popular names lol. That person will be stuck with it for a long time, unless he/she takes legal action.
