I was looking at my public profile and noticed...I'm missing around 70 posts! It said I only had 435, but I remember becoming a Member (500 posts) just before v.7 came. I noticed that the Yu Yu Hakusho forum is gone, but I'm almost posotive I didn't pour sixty-some posts into that fourm. I'm wondering this because (A) Will I have to re-earn those 65 I lost, and (B) Where did they go?

Tony's right; various old threads were moved and removed over the development cycle for V7.

In any case, I wouldn't worry about "re-earning" these posts. What you need to earn is quality content, rather than quantity of posts. Post counts are no longer displayed on posts and they have very little bearing (virtually no bearing at all) on your user status. Posts only determine when you become a Member, from being a New Member. There's nothing more to be gained beyond that. This is why we've given members a second title, to modify as they see fit. The idea is to take the focus away from post count and focus on post quality instead. So I wouldn't worry about any lost posts; most members (including myself and other staff) lost some number of posts as a result of this upgrade process.

The thing is, unless there's someone who would go to everyone's user profile, no one is going to see the post count anyway. It has no real relevance at all anymore, except perhaps when you go from "New Member" to "Member". And my take on those different titles is so that we know who are new, and we can guide them.

Basically, there's no need to worry about your post count anymore -- there's nothing that comes with it. No new titles, no little extra bits. It is an extra bit, itself, now.

The emphasis in these versions is shifting its perspective a little bit so that it now focuses almost solely on quality, rather than quantity, heh.

So don't worry about it. Just sit back, relax, and let the good times role. ^.~

I think all psot from v.3=v.4/5 are deleted. Since I don't see my very OLD posts anymore in my post searches. I think most accounts that are unactive or banned are also deleted.
Well I lost 700 and even though the title system is there, I liked having a lot of posts just for the thing that you have a lot of posts lol.
"I lost 700 pounds from subways!"

I was thinking about that when I saw your messege X_X. Anyways, it's like for me, the more post you have, the mroe powerful you become. I was thinking about an RPG hack at that time so yea.

"Post counts are a different story, however. As the upgrade process goes forward, we'll be going through every single forum and making adjustments -- some forums will be removed (I've already mentioned them in a previous announcement) and various threads will be reorganized. As a result, people's post counts will be affected."

Says right there what happened to your posts, right in the announcements...

Anyway, the posts you probably lost were in crappy topics or like RPGs or something that shouldn't matter anyway cause it's all crap. Anyway, I probably lost more posts than you, although I have no idea since I didn't care to begin with. I could never understand why people cares so much about post counts.
I, for one, am infuriated.

How am I supposed to lord my superiority over new members without my 5000+ post count?!?!

James, I hate you.
Well.. for one, I think having Moderator privileges might show some superiority, eh?

Oh wait wait, what about being a Team Leader and showing that superiority under your user name?

*takes privileges away*

 • 5 months later...
I didn't want to create a thread so I posted here. Just have one concern.

I went to see my profile today after a long while and looked at my post count, it says 80 something. Then I go to read all posts I created and it says there are a about 190 something posts. I know post counts don't matter but could that be a bug in the system? I joined somewhere in May or June I think so version problems should not apply right? And I've never posted in the Battle Arena...

Anyway, was just concerned...or...something ^_^x

Some forums(such as the Art Forum) when posted in don't increase your post count, which may be why when you do a search it says you have 190 posts when your post count says you only have 80.

Posting in the Art Studio does increase your post count, if I recall correctly. Posting in the Art by Request sub-forum should not.

I'm not sure why your post count is off, nor do I really care to investigate why as well.

Chances are, one of the forums you've posted in does not up your post count.

vBulletin has a script that allows me to fix, or update, all post counts. I'll run this when I get a chance. Seeing as with v7, posts counts don't matter, give it a week or so.
