TheShinje
I am a newfound fan of the Flaming Lips. Tony (Semjaza Azazel) posted a thread here once about the Flaming Lips , and when I saw their CD, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots for hire at my local library, I decided to hire it out and give it a spin. I generally give anythign mentioned in MM&TV a go, to see if it's as good as the thread starter implies... I didn't know what to expect, but it was really good, to say the least, Fight Test, the first song that is on the CD is one of my favorites, along with "Yoshimi battles the Pink Robots pt1 and 2" and "All we have is now" I foudn the general flow and harmony of YBTPR to be quite relaxing and enjoyable, a definate must-have. do I sense Anime elements influencing the CD artwork? So are there any other Flaming Lips fans out there? And what other CD's from this band would you reccomend to me? What part of this band really stands out to you? (be it images or the flow & sound etc.)
Semjaza
I think it was actually Genkai that started the Flaming Lips thread... although I think I actually made one too, now that I'm trying to remember it all lol. Yoshimi is an awesome release. I'm not always in the mood to listen to it, but every so often it makes its way into my playlist again. It's important to note that new Flaming Lips is actually quite different from the older stuff... so I'm not sure how big you'd be on their other releases. In any case, I'd check out The Soft Bulletin. I would consider that their best.
Genkai
I love them I still haven't gotten my hands on Zaireeka, though I think it will be the **** when I do. I personally find Yoshimi to be their best, though my favorite song of theirs is Kim's Watermelon Gun. Anyway, they're just amazing. I suggest you go out and buy all of their albums. But that's just me.
