AzureWolf
I was just thinking... There are far too many SPAM and/or closed threads bogging up a few of the forums, pushing down some of the real, noteworthy threads. So, I was thinking that threads closed or right-out SPAM could all be moved to a separate forum. That way, the person could go and see why his thread was closed, WHILE still keeping the forums clean. That entire forum could serve as an example of what to do and what not to do.
Semjaza
I've personally just been deleting threads in my sections that were worthy of being closed. If I feel something needs to be said so that the original poster knows why it was removed, then I PM them. People seem to get the point though. I do agree with you, however, because I think there a bit of it clogging up the anime section in particular heh. I don't think a seperate forum is required though... as people are supposed to read the rules when they register anyway.

I personally have my own forums and it's simple to move a topic to another board. But I do believe that this would be a very good idea. There are some threads which just about beg to be deleted, but I'm not sure what to do about the rest of them (especially those started by new members who seem to have overlooked the rules). I think I'll start doing the same thing as you, since it really annoys me when crappy threads crowd out the higher-quality topics. As for your suggestion, AzureWolf, I'm not sure whether having a spam/closed threads forum would send the right message. I've encountered message boards that had sections devoted specifically to spam (supposedly so people could get it out of their system, or something to that effect). While a "spam" forum would clearly have a different purpose at OB, some people might interpret its name the wrong way. ~Dagger~

I don't think there is a need for a forum of posts showing people what not to do. That's what the rules are for.
Gavin
That's what the rules are for.
Well since I'm not a moderator although I've joked with James about it a few times, I would have to agree with Semjaza here. First of all the main point of the Rules page is to avoid such mistakes like spam threads. However I don't believe that creating a forum consisting entirely of such material would to anything to promote better posting quality if not promote the opposite. What could be done and has been done by The Harlequin in the Adventure and Battle Arenas and the old Dragonball Forum is that a specific thread of what to post and what not to post could be created, and thus save on sending out some PMs. It may not be applicable on all Forums but would work on most and may prove useful in both the short run and the long run respectively. I think James and everyone else has had their work cut out to them with V7 and I think asking them to go and create a Forum to store Spam is pushing it. I agree with Semjaza's idea of merely deleting the thread in question and PMing the poster, it seems to me to be the most logical way of working through the problem.
Retribution
well, I think that a Spam forum would be a good idea. I mean, it should maintain OB integrity, but It should be a place for people to get the spam outta their system. It might also clean up OB on the non-spam forums. The Newbie Lounge and Picture Forums are good examples.

I mean, it should maintain OB integrity, but It should be a place for people to get the spam outta their system.
That's exactly the kind of misunderstanding that I was referring to. If a closed thread has absolutely no instructional value, then there's little reason to keep it around. Those which show people what not to do are probably most useful when they're kept in the forum where they were created. EDIT: It's not so much that I think it's a bad idea... I just don't feel that a spam forum is really necessary at this point. But, yes, I do realize that members wouldn't be able to post in one. ~Dagger~

Retribution
I think that I was misunderstood... I DID NOT mean that you should put closed threads in this forum. What I mean't was different than what Dagger means. I meant to say that people should be able to post the WAYYY off topic things here, so that they aren't posted elsewhere... I DID NOT mean that it should be an example, or otherwise. I understand that you mean that OB doesn't need a spam area. I guess thats the mod's call. not mine. Sara
Altron, it's not that anyone misunderstood you, it's that you misunderstood Azure. There are hundreds upon hundreds of other boards you can post at if you really must "get the spam out of your system." There's no place for that here. :whoops: I think this topic has been adequately explored. /
