This year, Ozzfest '04's line up preety much sucks. www.ozzfest.com this is the line up. With Slipknot, again, on second stage with a buch of suck bands, Lacuna Coil sounds like a cheap Poison rip off. That and a bunch of old foggies are on main stage. Judas Priest, Slayer, Ozzy, Dimmu Borgir ( okay they're not old), Super joint ritual, and of course Black Label Society. I could go for Cradle of Filth headlining 2nd stage again but they're in the studio for Nymphetamine. What are your opinons?

I suppose Poison is comparable on a superficial level... if you totally ignore the subject matter, tone of the instruments and the fact that the songs are mostly sang by a female (Christina Scabbia) with a few done by a male (Andrea Ferro). Christina is defintely the better of the two, but I do like the vocals overall anyway, despite Andrea's throwback to older rock bands.

I agree that there's nothing too special about this lineup overall though... but Lamb of God could be fun.

I dont mind lacuna Coil that much. I'm surprised that they made ozzfest, because they aren't that heavy of a band. I'm not surprised that slipknot made it, as I picture they will continue to make the list for years to come.

I agree, the line up isn't as good as it has been in past years. I wish they would have Otep, even if just for 2nd stage. Them, and maybe Mudvayne. The vayne has been quiet for awhile though.

::remembers blood pig video and cringes:: Man, that girl from otep scares me.

I am going to this years Ozzfest. Why? Because I want to see Ozzy live at least once. I don't expect him to be doing the Ozzfest or touring in the near future for much longer. That and I need to get away from my house at least once this summer. The only other band I may enjoy is Dimmu Borgir, but they are getting annoying lately.

It Would have been great if Cradle of Filth had headline the second stage again. But they are making there new album, which I am looking forward to. So I'll go and see them in concert some other time.

Dude you picked the wrong thing to say about slayer!!. There not a bunch of old folk. Sure they have been around a few good years but they have got the greatest guitarist in the world KERRY KING. Slayer still do great music and the same thing goes for slipknot. How are they old??? Anyway back to the subject The rest of the line up pretty much sucks. Ozzfest used to great but know with ozzy selling out to MTV things just anit the same!

Slipknot has been around since about '97-'98 and they've always sucked. I wanted to see an all black metal line up this year. But stupid ozzy's gettin' to old and then he'll swear that kelly has the greatest vocals in the world but he's fried from coke and the booze and nevermind about that. I wanted to see Cradle of Filth, Immortal, Enslaved, and Sacramentum
I could accept Atreyu, they're okay, and System of a Down ( okay they're not black metal) SOAD has been on the tour like 3-4 times already, they too might also be in the studio, let's hope, hopefully not making another spinoff of Toxicity.

They didn't really even need any studio time to make Steal This Album. That's why it was titled what it was. Half of those songs were already available on their import singles and the rest were just mastered versions of crappy demos floating about. I'm sure whatever they make next won't even be related... but if you're hurting for System material, they have an entire CD length set of music that was never released for some reason. It's not too hard to find online.

In any case, if you're hoping for some full underground/black/death metal concert, I don't really know why you'd go to Ozzfest in the first place. By its very definition, it really has to appeal to all sorts of audiences.

I notice that when metal bands tour over here, they always come in groups anyway (King Diamond, for example, hit some places here with like four or five other bands)... perhaps the smaller, cheaper venues would be better to check out.

Personally, I really like this line up. I'm a big fan of Ozzy, Judas Priest, Black Label Society, Slayer, SlipKnot, Hatebreed, and Otep. So the front line up consists of mostly old bands. I don't mind, since they're all some of my favorite bands.

The second stage line up isn't that good, I'll admit though, but everything else I like.

What is this, "second stage is teh crapness" BS that I keep on hearing? I serously doubt that you guys would say that if you had actually heard Every Time I Die. Now, I really shouldn't say "OMG, you'll love this band", but they are freaking awesome. With that said, if you haven't heard them, I think they are they best thing on the bill. Oh, and they are more of a hardcore band than metal, if you can make any distinction from that.
