Panda
I have been fighting off the flu for the past 3 weeks and have missed several days of work. I have run out of things to keep me from dying of boredom so I need your help. When you are at home to sick to go to work or school, but not sick enough to just stay in bed, what do you do to keep yourself from being bored? I have been marathoning some anime, watched tv, looked around on the internet and worked on my personal website. What else can I do to keep myself occupied until I am feeling well enough to go out again? What do you do when you are stuck at home sick? Thanks in advance for any suggestions! :D
ChibiHorsewoman
Let's see, few years back I was home with the flu for a week, so I really sympathize. as for what I did well: first I marathoned anime, then movies, then tapes of shows I had taped when I was out. Then I tried to do the New York Times Crossword Puzzle. Let me tell you, if you want to cure boardum and then pass out, Do the NYT x-Word. Then you can do the word finder, the word jumble and the x-word in your local paper. You can try drawing I think I ended up with the beginnings of a manga by the time I was done with the flu. and if you can't draw, you can try writing. You can write letters to the editor, fanfiction, your own stories, you can do those thank you cards from Christmas. I don't know what else to try, maybe reading. That was good too.
yalborap
Personally, I reccomend gaming. Nothing kills flu based boredom like busting out your atari/NES/SNES/anything you haven't played in a long time and enjoying the old school goodness. Kanariya
If I'm homesick..I play my Play Station 2, surf the web, watch TV, eat saltine crackers, and drink as much soda I can possibly can. That's basically what my life revolves around anyway, so...yeah. I'm a technology freak, so that's all I do. But I reccomend making little doodles, reading some comics out of the newspaper, writing stories, or listen to music for a while. But I do wish I was you; I wanna be off school too..
Godelsensei
As long as I'm not dying, I actually enjoy being sick. It's one of those times where you don't have to do anything, and you have a valid excuse for being sleepy and lazy.^^ When I'm sick, I usually write stories that I decide I hate the next day. Heh. That and spend alot of time updating my several websites, experimenting with colour schemes, drawing and marathoning series I haven't watched in a while. And reading...planning my DnD campaign, too. Maybe even doing some of the homework that was assigned last month... PS: Wasabi, I LOVE your avatar!!^^
Lady Macaiodh
If I'm actually sick enough to stay home, I lie in bed with a barf bucket next to it, feeling sorry for myself and watching TV to get my mind off the discomfort. I'm really not good for much else. I feel crappy pretty often, though. My health isn't the greatest because of all the drugs I used to do. I have to be resigned to the fact that it's going to take awhile to get back to normal, and push through it like a regular life.
Narius
What I do, draw a lot. and I mean a lot. Understandeable since I intend to go proffessional in the not too distant future. Oh and find my old forums that I was a member on a long time ago and see how far downhill they went, then say something, then make fun of the people who are far too aggressive for their own good who reply whining about me posting my opinion. Wastes a good couple hours at least.
Panda
Lots of good suggestions. I have started a few posts on the message board here which has been quite entertaining. I will probably turn on the PS2 for some .Hack a little later just to raise a Grunty or two. It's hard for me to concentrate on games when I am sick so Grunty raising might be the extent of my gaming abilities. LOL I haven't read a good book in awhile or done any art or writing. Of course, when I am sick I am not going to do my best work which ends up just frustrating me. I think I might do something I haven't done in years....a puzzle! Thanks again for the suggestions! DeathBug
When I'm sick...I hardly ever stay home. I'm incredibly stubborn, so if I come down with something, I'll go to school anyway; spread the germs around, I guess. If I should ever be so sick that leaving the house isn't possible, I'll still refuse to lie down. I'll work on...something. Anything. School work, chores, whatever. Basically, I have to be clinicalluy dead to just lie around watching TV. ^^; Like I said, stubborn...
Guest Crimson Spider
Being that I have a bad case of Asthma along with a compensated Immune system, I'm home sick all the time. Just this week, I was home Monday, and Friday last week. Each time I get certain colds/flus, I sustain week-long fight to breath. Often times longer. Right now, I'm still weezing and coughing. Firstly, I sleep my good 14 hours of sleep. By the time I wake up, the time I would've been at school has passed. But when I'm awake, I watch TV, surf the net (includes going here), play videogames, do chores, and listen to music. I mean watch everything on TV, read everything on the net, play videogames for each system I have, and listen to pretty much ever radiostation my area picks up. So I keep entertained for long periods of time.
Rikku
Well, if I'm not puking my brains out, I play video games. IE: Final Fantasy. I try to either finish all the sidequests, or just start a new game if I've completed the game already. Another fun thing is to go to a fan fiction site and read some fics. I've spent hours reading Harry Potter and Digimon fics. :o

eleanor
I really have no idea why some people sick at home can play video games all day. It's gives me a horrible headache and I feel like my brain is about to explode. Same goes for too much TV or computer when I'm sick. I mean, the best thing for you to do is sleep. It's healthy for you and you pass a lot of time. If you're healthy enough to run around playing video games and getting hyped up about them while not getting a headache, I don't know why you're not at school.
DeadSeraphim
Whenever I'm sick its videogames, net or writing, though its probably gonna be videogames because when I'm at home sick I have the chance to monopiilze the tv, and can play for a good four hours or more. And to answer your question maladjusted, people aren't always sick enough to warrant a day sleeping. A sore throat can knock you out of school for a day, but its not like the medication makes you sleepy or you need to lie down to heal.
Gelgoog Pilot
Hmmmm its sad really...........whenever I am actually sick and stay home I never feel like videogames.........it seems like the more i play them while Im sick the worse i feel. Most of the times this is true others it isn't
Angelus_Necare
I can't manage videogames while I'm sick either. well I suppose it's how sick I get, sometimes I can just lay on the couch with a glazed look in the general dirrection of the television with the slightest hint of life. but when I'm not two steps from dead I'll chat with other sick people online and we'll try to figure out who's the sickest (you all do it, admit it), and then sleep dominates the majority of my home time. And sleep really is the best, I mean, you have the best dreams when you're ill, they may not be the prettyest but for me they're ultimately brilliant and they have credits at the end! um, I suppose that's all I do when I'm home sick, other than visit the OB, like we all do ;). Godelsensei
I draw. And draw, and draw and draw and draw. Well, I do this anyway, but when I'm sick I have more time. I also marathon anime, write and update my many sorry excuses for websites. Heh. I'd read, but it gives me a headache when I'm sick, usually. It's weird how typing doesn't do that...O.o
Shwa
Yeah I basically go to mymom's bed 'cause there's a lot of space there for me to move around and stuff, then i basically watch t.v the rest of the time. but morning t.v isn't that good so i go play some PS2 for the rest of the time. But if I need to get any homwwork done that'll be a good time to do it, if not then its web browsing for me :D
Panda
I am finally getting over my cold. It has been hanging on for over 3 weeks now! :flaming: It is very true that daytime tv isn't that great. I have watched all of X, Hellsing, Noir and caught up on a ton of reading. I even tried my hand at updating my website and designing my very first banner for this site! I played a couple of games on the PS2 but it was hard to concentrate on gaming when I was coughing so much. Those of you who are at home, enjoy having parents to take care of you when you are sick. There are times that living on your own is great, but when you are sick is definately not one of them! Feeling terrible and having to get up and cook and clean is no fun. Thanks again for all the suggestions, I have put many of them to use while fighting off this 3+ week cold. :D
Guest ScirosDarkblade
When I'm sick I do what I normally do except I skip even more class and don't go to Taekwondo. In other words, I draw, play video games, work on my website, and study. The usual.
Ryan
I stay in bed and watch tv, all day. It gets boring after awhile because there really isn't anything showing then. Just paid programming and advertising and stuff like that. Other than that, I play my xbox or read, or most of the time listen to music. And make up work of course.
Guest wrestlemaniac40
When I'm at home sick I usually sleep or lay down. IfI'm not tired I'll play videogames.(cough*porno*cough)
Theodore
If Im ever sick Im out for a week but its on rare occasions when I get sick. When it happens though I usually crawl over to my moms room and lie in her massive bed its so relaxing. I also watch TV and the best thing when your sick is when your cat/dog/pet is lieing or sleeping with you

Posthumous
I get sick alot, but usally only just a runny nose or coughing. I don't like missing alot of days of school, although I think school is just an excuse for our parents to relax once in a while. If I miss a day of school I know I'm missing alot of stuff. Same thing with work. There's never anything to watch during the morning/early afternoon on TV. Except for stuff like Baby Looney Tunes of course. My mom is always doing something where she doesn't pay attention to me. So I could just do some other stuff like play games and she wont care. I also like to just sit around and think about current events with myself. For some reason I never talk but if it's just me and one person, I talk alot. I just missed 3 days of school because of an ear infection. The pain was like someone cutting of my ear. P.S Please put more effort into a post Yisan.
