Godelsensei
Life's full of irritations, but what things do you find to be simply the worst? That is: what pisses you off the most? I'm not reffering to things like the lack of world peace here, because all the answers would end up the same. I guess you'll get the gist of what I'm saying from my own answers... People who make fun of special ed. programms even though they don't understand them. For any one else who's ever been in one, I'm sure you'll share my sentiments. Actually, this applies to people making fun of things they don't understand in general. However, it's really the specific scenario I brought up that makes me want to bash their sorry faces in, regardless of whether it was myself or another group who was mentioned. Shouting. Especially when it's used to try and get people to be quiet. I cannot stand having some one bellow out their aggression, and as a DM, I am often the subject of their anger, whether it was my fault or not. *sigh* Shouting is just disruptive, unless it's in order to cheer for some one. When you raise your voice to such a degree, in order to communicate a negative message, all the other party hears is, "BLAH BLAH **** BLAH **** BLAH *****!!!!" You lose your argument and your voice. Shouting just makes wherever you are less pleasant. People who constantly victimize themselves. It's simply enfuriating when some one acts as though they are the only individual with problems on the face of this Earth. This includes inventing problems that really don't exist, just to attract attention to yourself. I've gotten sick of it lately, and am hell-bent on avoiding said action. Whining. Eugh. The squeaky tone of voice, the lack of the ability to accept that you're not always going to get your way...ARGH. Well, there you have it. Oh, and chainletters, too. *mutter*
Farto the Magic
I hate people who try to use embarrassment to get you to do something. One of my teachers walked into Study Hall and told me that I have five math assignments to do. He yelled it from across the room. I wanted to beat him with an inflatable monkey. Worst thing was: I was working on my math at the time.
Shinken
Ah, annoying things... Well, I've got plenty of them. Vertebrains: The people who seem to go above and beyond just to be stupid. To gain a more complete understanding of what a vertebrain is, let's break down the word: The "verte" portion refers to the vertebrae of the spinal column, and the spinal cord itself (which has complete control of reflexes, but is not involved in conscious, rational thought). "Brain" refers to, well, your brain. That fleshy sac of protein you use to formulate hypotheses, opinions, and plot revenge against that special someone. Now, combine the words, and you gain the knowledge that a vertebrain applies almost no thought, rationality, or intellect to anything they say/do. (I'd add think, but that'd be a flat lie.) Examples include, stereotypical jocks, airheaded bubble-gum 'teenies', and... punk-rock skatas who have small locks as earrings (I KID YOU NOT). "Jesus Freaks": No, I in no way discriminate against Christians, being one myself. I use this term to describe those who decide to jam their religion down everyone's throat, berate you for disagreeing, and fervently attack anything that they view as 'sinful'. Take the Westboro Baptist Church for example. They attempt to justify their anti-gay hate crimes as 'picketing' and 'religious expression', going so far as to send to the UN a request for all member nations to 'illegalize homosexuality and impose the death penalty!!!!!!' (Again, I KID YOU NOT). (My definition of Jesus-Freakism does not apply only to theists, it also applies to atheists who berate you for believing in a religion. Like Danakar, my deleted 'friend' from NationStates.) PETA: We all know 'em, we all love 'em. As a source of entertainment. While I agree that animal abuse is a dumb, pointless thing, I don't see how eating meat is a sin, but they somehow made the connection (which snapped instantly). In a classic move, PETA decided to put up a billboard stating "LARD HAVE MERCY: Gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins. Don't eat meat and BE SAVED!!!". This is where the "logic" fails. By this statement, Jesus is in hell because he ate meat (Fish, to be precise). Which makes absolutely no sense. Well, these are a few of my favorite things. I favor them as far away from me as possible.
DeathBug
I don't really catagorize the types of people I find offensive; I think most of us agree on what's annoying. However, the one thing that infuriates me no end: those who do not take responsibility for their actions. You know them; nothing is ever their own fault. The fat who sue McDonalds. The neglectful parents who don't know why their children misbehave. The lazy who are being 'kept down'. God forbid anyone admit that it might be their own fault that they're in a bad situation. The greatest problems today are caused by a lack of responsibility.I see it, and it drives me nuts. Narius
People who assume they know more about what you mean than you do. Par example; When you say one thing and cut it off rather bluntly and don?t continue on the post, but leave it as a basic generalized statement that could technically mean a lot of different things, then people get pissed off at you for something you didn?t even say, but their pissed off because it sounded to them like that may have been the direction you were going in. That pisses me off. Overtly stubborn people. A certain degree of stubbornness is fine, but to take it to a point where when you assume something and are corrected on it, but refuse to stop arguing a point you were already corrected on, that?s just annoying as hell. Farto the Magic
I hate more people: Those girls who cry and scream when they see famous people. GET A LIFE! The people who think you can't hear them and say bad things about you when they're two feet away. Those girls who mess around and think it's a great thing when their friend gets pregnant. Teen pregnancy is a really cool thing. Morons... People who tell you to shut up and then go and talk to their friends. DAMN HYPOCRITS! People who parade around school when they find out that they got a D- on their report card. People who drink and then come to school with a hangover every monday and complain. People who think you're an idiot because of one or two things and then always treat you as such. People who call you names and hit you and, when you want to tell them to go **** themselves, they tell you it's a joke. People who act like they're going to die if they have to take a test. STUDY. People who wait until three in the morning to finish something they could've gotten down a week earlier. People who think that, when you offer to do their homework for money, that you're going to do it wrong. Boba Fett
Things/People I dislike strongly: Social Security: I disagree with the entire concept of the government getting involved with the people?s money. If you?re going to give someone a secure retirement, sending him or her a measly check in the mail each month is not the way to do it. Social Security is an unnecessary retirement supplement that brings us closer to socialism. It?s not a terrible thing, but it strikes me as a terrible waste of government time and money as far as administration is concerned. Medicare and Medicaid: Government run healthcare should be total or non-existent. The current system we have is not only unfair in its distribution of medical assistance, but represents a drastic redistribution of wealth. Both of these programs should either be expanded into government run health care, or scrapped altogether. Ted Kennedy: Only is Mass. would this guy ever get elected. Ted Kennedy is one of the most radically liberal senators of all time, who takes every opportunity to bash Republicans for both real and imagined reasons. Mr. Kennedy has made a habit of spouting blatantly untrue statements in order to rile up his political base. For example, he accused Dick Cheney of assisting Halliburton get US government contracts. There is no proof of this whatsoever. Also, he accused the president of concocting the war in Iraq before September 11th and doing it solely for political gain. There?s no proof of that either. Ted Kennedy is a liberal liar who, more than anyone else, deserves a big L on his forehead. John Kerry: One word can sum up this man: waffle. He?s changed positions on almost every issue he ?stands on? to date. I think President Bush put it best when he said, ?The candidates are an interesting group, with diverse opinions: For tax cuts, and against them. For NAFTA, and against NAFTA. For the Patriot Act, and against the Patriot Act. In favor of liberating Iraq, and opposed to it. And that's just one senator from Massachusetts.? I don?t like waffles? People who disagree with the war in Iraq: So our intelligence was faulty and there were no Weapons of Mass Destruction. The rest of the world was wrong too, as were all of Saddam?s generals. I've talked to a veggie at my school quite often. She says she doesn't eat them because we torture the animals and kill them brutally. Now see here......there just is NO way to kill something in a nice way, and for seconds, we don't kill animals cruelly. The send an elctrical shock into the temple knocking them out. then they slit the throat. They don't even feel it. And for the torture. She said the placing them in pens before we kill them. The holding pens where the animals ar put for like 10 mins before they are killed -_-' . Veggies.......gotta hate'em.........or at least some of them. It's obviously easy for someone to misunderstand your point if you don't even finish it. Leaving some vague ending to your post, based on my experience, encourages people to make a fuss over it. They always will. Anyway, I don't like very many things at all. The things I do like, however, I'm very passionate about. In terms of people, I tire of many of them very quickly and the many others I dislike from the start. It takes a lot for someone to be on my good side. Not that I'm amazing or anything, but it's not like people have to like me either lol. In terms of specific things, I just dislike fake people. I don't pretend to like people I don't. I'm as nice to them as is necessary to get through my day. I don't like when people put on a front that makes it seem like someone is their new best friend, but then they talk badly of them behind their back. This also ties into people that lie about things in order to look "cooler" to others or say they don't like a something when, in fact, they know nothing about it. It happens a lot with bands. If you don't know a band, just say so. It's not that difficult. So either of those earn almost instant contempt from me. Of course, things can change... but first impressions are rather binding. DeadSeraphim
Things that annoy me: Commercial Radio There is only so many ads I can listen to on the 'non-stop' hour before my head implodes. Idiots Define idiot, you ask? Those who pick one or two physical flaws on a person and use that as the basis of the 'teasing' (said tentatively) for the rest of their life. Seriously, when someone is telling you you have a big head, there's not much you can do about it. Ge-net-ics. They act as if you could put your head against a cheese grater and take some off the top. Bush I won't say much on this, as it is probable it will get said shite-loads of times anyway. In short, Bush annoys me. I thought the War in Iraq was a farce to carry out his daddy's failed wishes. That is all. Spammers Not email spamming btw, but the people who insist on talking like n00bs or berating you with stupid crap. Case in point: I had a Shoutbox on my site. Some **** decided they would spam it. They said **** using a name I usally use when chatting in Shoutboxes. And later on called themself 'Master Hacker'. Pathetic. Zealots More specifically, Christian zealots. I have no problem with Christians as a whole, but when they demand to know why you don't believe in Jesus then it starts getting annoying. There is only so many times one can explain their... let's call it faith, to the same ignorant people before one wishes they carried around a samurai sword. James
Hm, interesting thread. As I was reading through people's responses, I failed to come up with my own. There are small things that annoy me (ie: answering your mobile phone in the middle of class -- the height of rudeness and disrespect, especially if you are in a lecture). But really, those things are pretty trivial. I guess that one of the things that annoys me the most would have to be intellectual dishonesty. In other words...doing something or saying something that you know is wrong or factually inaccurate, but you do it anyway, to further your own agenda. One example would be people like Benny Hinn, a man who preys on the ignorant for his own financial gain. I absolutely love it when they say "please send us a love donation". In other words, "please send us cash in an envelope". It makes my internal moral compass snap in half (especially because the guy who is asking for your "love donation" is apparently wearing a jewellery store full of gold all over his hands and arms). ~_^ The same can be said with regard to journalism. There are quite a few people out there who deliberately slant things in order to present information through a prism. Intellectual dishonesty at its finest. Another example would be various Creationist organisations (especially in the United States) who use "junk science" to fit the proverbial square peg in the round hole. It's really the most unethical behavior I can imagine. So I guess a lack of ethics and intellectual honesty are probably my two biggest annoyances. Other than that, I guess there are small things (like the mobile phone thing), but most of it is relatively trivial as I mentioned. In regard to the Iraq war and other political issues...I am constantly annoyed that the people who are the most vocal are also the most ignorant (whether they are appearing on TV or whether they're giving live speeches). Isn't it funny that people who know the most about these situations seem to get drowned out by those who have already jumped on the ignorance ticket? *shrug* Annoying, yep.

Shinken
Oh, and I found another thing that completely annoys me. "Gangstas": You know, those scrawny, wiry little guys who think that listening to rap makes them bonafide 'gangstas'. There are more than enough of those guys at my school. Do you have any idea how funny it is to see a seventh grader walking around the library with pants down to his knees, a white tanktop, and a hawaiian-style shirt three sizes too big? Lemme tell you guys a little story: I was sitting in the library, doing my homework, when I see the aformentioned kid walk by. Seeing him gave me quite a laugh, so I had to chuckle. Apparently he noticed, and nodded to his friend. The kid's equally short, pudgy, with his hair slicked back with a good inch of gel. He's dressed almost the same way, which is apparently a very intimidating style. He walks up to me, hands together in front of him in typical bouncer fashion. The larger one then looks at me and goes "You think somefin's funny, punk-ah?" while his friend stands back watching with apparent amusement. As I said before, I was sitting. Was. I proceeded to stand up, thus shutting the two up and allowing me to get back to my work. (I'm not tall, but they were very short.) "Enforcers": I'm sure that those of us still in school have had a few run-ins with this type of person. Basically, what they do is, well, enforce. Specifically, they're the oh-so-popular morons who somehow have a stranglehold on what/who the masses perceive as popular, cool, etc. If they haven't heard of it, then it can't be cool, I guess. Thus, anime, intelligence, and any spark of originality is frowned upon by the social status quo (at least in my school).
