QuincyArcher
so i rented this movie with a few of my friends today and i was expecting it to be really good because i love horror/psychological thriller flicks, but this was outright one of the cheesiest and most predictable movies i've seen in a long time, it was almost as bad as session 9. if they hadnt gone so far out of their way to give it a 'happy' ending it could've turned out to be a decent movie. the very end of the movie especially pissed me off, it made it out to be some kinda stupid Sixth Sense knock-off anyway, has anyone else seen this? if so what did you think about it? DeathBug
Gotjhika is one of the worst pieces of trash I've ever had the misfortune to view. Halle Barry can't act, the plot was predictable and stupid, and there were far too many lapses in logic to forgive. I was also unfortunate enough to see it in a theater with a girl, whom informed me that same day that we should "just be friends". At least the rejection wasn't as painful as Barry's acting.
QuincyArcher
i have to agree that Barry's acting was horrible, it seemed like Penelope Cruz was the only person in the entire flick that knew how to play her part well. on top of that, Robert Downy Jr. mumbled so many of lines that it was impossible to understand half of what he was saying.
Semjaza
I didn't like the movie whatsoever. I suppose it started off fine enough, but it basically just debased itself into
a evil child pornographer film
instead of what the entire film seems to be trying to lead up to. I don't know, but something about that just seemed out of place and just stuffed in in a lame attempt to shock people. The ending was absolutely awful as well and really didn't make sense to me.
Can she suddenly see other ghosts? Is she suppose to help other people now? Why would this happen if the other one only happened to her because of her link to the people involved?
. It seems like this was just stuck in so they could have an open ending.

bimbo69
I watched this the other day and i really hoped it would be a good film. I was very disappointed! It was the most predictable film i've seen in a long time and it wasn't in the least bit scary. I can't believe that people in the cinema screamed and jumped, though it was funny when they did. lita
I Thought It Was Horrible, There Was One Part Though That Scared The P*** Out Of Me, It Was When Berry Was In The Cell And Then She Started To Look Around And The Ghost Girl Pops Out Of Nowhere I About Shi* My Pants.......... Xyandar
I finally watched it the other day at my friends house... It wasnt too bad but it disappointed me. Everyone said it was great movie and it ended up not really being scary. My friend had the volume on 2 and that P'ed me off because that took nething that coiuld have been scary in the movie, out of the movie. It was an alright movie though.... I can name 10 other movies better though lol.. Oh and lita, you might want to edit and put a spoiler in there for people who havent seen it yet.;)
kenshinsbabe
I thought that Gothica was okay. It wasn't horrible, but I kept jumping. I was a bit disappointed myself. The trailers made it out to be some huge horror movie, and it was just a ghost/murder flick. Not the best, but I don't think it was the actors' faluts. Stop swinging at the actors and direct your attention to the director and the storyboard people. They're the ones who wrote the thing. I'd give it two stars. Albane
I agree, the movie pretty much sucked in my opinion but Hally Berrie was in this flick so that saved it from being one huge train wreck.
DeathBug
In my humble opinion, Halle Barrie helped make it one big train wreck. I am very, very sorry, but that woman cannot act. She has all the emotion of a two-by-four; I could forgive an actor/actress having a problem in a role requiring a large spectrum of emotions, but all she had to do in this movie, for the most part, was be scared. It was laughable.
coconuts1977
I didn't think Gothika was TERRIBLE per se. It just fell to peices in the end though. It's sad really, I adore the director. I loved him in Amelie as Nino and I thought his direction in the French film The Crimson Rivers was very very good. With what the actors had to work with, I think they did an overall good job. It's just that the script got very messy.
BlueGender
Wow it seems like everyone hated the movie except me. It wasnt the best movie ever but I didnt hate it. The ending reminded me of a mix between Unbreakable and the Sixth Sense.
The whole child pornography thing
changed the whole movie around I was expecting it to be a movie about a crazy women and it turn out to be about something completely different and I guess that was disappoint but I liked it. I dont really remember much about the movie session 9, but, again, that wasnt that bad a movie. Course, keep in mind these are just my opinions. The end was kinda...not right. they could have made it much better.
Purple Haze
I have Gothika on DVD and it isn't that bad. I mean it wasn't scary but the story was ok. The whole time I when she was thinking about "not alone" and she figured it out I thought it was the guy that was councelling Halle Berry. But it was really the sheriff. Halle really didn't show any type of emotion that the character should've had. But overall it was a pretty good movie. I would give it a 7/f
Nut
Gothika was a huge disapointment for me. I've always loved horror movies, and I didn't find Gothika scary considering I could predict most of the movie. I had more fun throwing popcorn at ppl than watching the movie.
