The Mysterious Hat!

For a long while I've been trying to figure out what type of hat this is. It can be seen being worn by David Spade in [u]Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star[/u] and various other places I can't remember. It was popular in the 1970's and could possibly be a type of Panama Hat (yet, when I look up Panama hats, none look like this). It looks like a Fedora Type Hat, but I think--NO! I know it's not a Fedora.
