Stolen Fanart

[SIZE=1]As there seems to be constant concern over this topic, I'd like to see if we can't keep all reports of art theft in one thread.

This thread deals with plagiarism on [b][url=http://fanart.theotaku.com]theOtaku's Fanart site.[/b][/url]

If you have a complaint or report of stolen art, please submit the following:[/size]

[list=1][*][b]myOtaku username[/b] of the artist in question. (Who you're accusing.)
[*][b]Link to the image in question[/b]: This would be a page like [b][url=http://fanart.theotaku.com/view.php?action=get_pic&pic_id=18590]this[/url][/b], to use one of Willow's pieces as an example.
[*]And the [b]Evidence of theft[/b] that you have. This can be the stolen image in it's original context, the original artist's site, the presence of someone else's signature on the page, etc. [/list]

[size=1]Please remember that theOtaku staff, while they may seem godlike, are only human. Art is uploaded on the honor system--art is assumed to be legit until seen otherwise. Theifs are dealt with as swiftly as possible, but they have to be pointed out first.[/SIZE]

:love: I'm so glad you set this sticky up! It makes reporting easier. I'm costantly seeing stolen stuff, and wanting to notify you guys, but it's a hassle usually...until now ^_^
I don't know why, but I'm monitoring fan art now >_< I know you guys can't dedicate much time to it and it's almost impossible to prevent, so I'll help you keep this place honest, k?

I notified the real artist.

The pictures are even of poorer quality than the originals.
She put her name into the picture, but they still are not hers. I supsect if I looked hard enough, I could find the other pictures in her gallery on deviant art as well.
There is even a person in her guest book compaining about showing her a picture, and she riped it. the post was asking for thier picture to be removed.
Pleas get rid of this thief!! :flaming:

Never minding the fact that you can't delete your account without having your password.


Also: [b][url=http://fanart.theotaku.com/view.php?action=get_pic&pic_id=22786]This image[/url][/b] is a fairly well-known piece of art. After being accused by several persons of having stolen it, the user said a friend had drawn it, and he'd asked permission.

Again, stealing artwork. I don't know if you guys already IP banned her, but it looks like there is just one more of her accounts that needs to be dealt with. She's really being problematic.

You can just look at the gallery to know it doen't belong to them as well :P no where near the same as the rest of the gallery. Who did they think they were kidding! :laugh:

For now on, if you wish to report plagiarism please use the link next to the piece of fan art in question. Give as much detail as possible in the form that will popup, and we will investigate as soon as possible.
