Hi, everybody! (hi doctor nick!)

I was just wondering if anybody had any future plans for a more lengthy education. College? Community college? Trade school? Institute of cosmotology? I wanna know!

Me? I'm going to Michigan Tech. University to study Civil Engineering just like that Hung guy on American Idol. I will also get a minor in art.

Hopefully have my own consulting business someday...then open up an arcade...then make a manga of my own...

TELL ME YO' PLANS!

You want plans for the future? I've got several pages worth of scholarship essay explaining my plans for the future: where I'm going to school, what I'm going to study, how I'm going to finance it, where I'm going after that, my long-term goals and how they will better humanity. I mean, wow.

I'm going to the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) next year, where I'm going to do...something...with foreign languages. As I've told the people who've been asking me at home: They'll give me money if I major in German, so...hey, why not. (Aside from the insanity of majoring in a foreign language and whatnot.)

So...that'll be fun. Also, cold. Yay for spending the coldest months of the year in northern Minnesota.

I also want to run a florist shop on the side when i get enough money because i love flowers.

I am currently attending college here at the University of Georgia and majoring in Genetics. Man, it is a pain in the butt. I was going to change my major to Art after this semester, but then I realized that all of the core classes that I've taken (38 hours worth) would be absolutely of no value as an art major, since art majors don't need to know about Chemistry, Biology, or other stupid things, such as Psychology. Once I get my Bachelor's, I really have no idea where my plans are from there. I hope by then to be married, and if so, by then I'll be ready to start my family, i.e. have children. SO, do I go to grad school or become a loving mother? It would be VERY hard to do both, so as of now, at the end of my freshman year in college, I really don't know. Sometimes I even question why I'm in college. I seriously think the only reason I am is because I CAN be. Not because I really NEED to be. Or maybe I do. But then again, maybe I'm just wasting my time. You know, I really don't know, but maybe one day I'll be the one to give you some genetic counseling when you find out that you are a carrier for some awful genetic disease. Heh.

Well, I'll be attending Cal Poly Pomona next year, and I'll be majoring in Journalism, though Cal Poly isn't really known for being a Journalism-centric school, heh. It's more of an engineering school, really, but I liked the school well enough. Plus, I liked the head of the Journalism area of study...he was a cool guy.

After that, I hope to get some sort of job in the video game journalism industry, but you never know how that stuff will work out. I might not even end up being a journalist when it's all said and done, depending on if my skills as a short story writer sharpen and if I'm still being pursued by the creativity bug.

But, hey, as long as I'm doing something I enjoy, I'm happy, whether it's harrassing people and being a dorky journalist or writing crazy stories all day.

It looks like I'm one of the less ambitious patrons that resides around these boards these days. Everyone wants to do this or that, become rich and or famous and have a cool degree with all sorts of specialized crap everywhere. I thought that was the way it was going to turn out for me, too, but I don't think that's going to be how it ends up when it's all said and done.

I first realized that I was losing my ambition when I graduated high school and I didn't recieve ANY fricken scholarships and one little measley $500 grant from the state. If you know anything about college, it costs a little more than 500 bucks a year to go. Hell, it usually costs more than 500 dollars to buy books, let alone tuition and room and board. I was a 3.5 GPA student in high school, I got a 29 on my ACT and still, I got jack crap for money to go to school. I filled out tons of scholarship applications, wrote tons of essays (with my Honors/AP English teachings aiding me) and still, nothing. My family isn't rich by any means, but according to the government, I get no grant money anyway.

So I finally make it to college and I'm paying for it out of my pocket. I have to work part-time and go to school full-time so it's somewhat tought but still managable. At first I was all like "YIPPEE! College is great! I'm gonna major in Psychology and become a therapist and be rich and YAY ME!" Until I realized that college is a lot tougher than high school if you don't want to try very hard. It became apparent that college probably isn't for me but I'm going to stick with it until I don't think I can make it any longer. My goal is basically just to say that I have a college education because that alone is better than most of my family can say about themselves.

At first, my goal was to become a computer scientist. Then I discovered that that took way too much math for someone like me who isn't very math saavy, plus when I took a programming class in high school that didn't go over very well. Then I was decided I wanted to major in Psychology (which I still am now) but when I found out that way higher level classes were going to be too tough on me (especially graduate courses), I decided against getting anything past a bachelor's degree. Some of you might be thinking "What the heck's he gonna do with a BA in Psychology?" Good question since I can't do much with it. In fact, I'm probably going to become a Firefighter/Paramedic for a career and though I don't need a college education to do that, I figure that it can't hurt.

So yeah, looks like I'm gonna get a college degree so I can become a firefighter. Making 30 grand a year ain't that bad though. Do you really need a ton of money anyway?

Currently I'm attending Rutgers University. My desired major is English despite my uncertainty considering I want to do with it. I've always felt things out as they came my way. Life it already complicated enough without overcomplicating it more with plans and such. "Playing it by ear" has always worked best for me. I'll take the future as it comes. I'm probably bright enough to do a number of things so I try not to worry myself with specifics or keep myself confined to one path. In fact, I make an effort to take as many widely different courses as possible. English, writing, and art courses are the only constants as I go from semester to semester.

I finished college at Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Great experience, I tell ya! Stressful as heck, but fun!

I then took 2 years off, and became a bum.

Now, I'm heading back to school for a Pharm.D degree at Oregon State Univeristy. Yep. I'm on my way to becoming a licensed drug dealer.

I have been debating if I should go back to college. The major problems being money, time, my health and for what degree? I don't know, I will just have to play it by ear.

I graduated high school and got my Associates in Applied Arts and Sciences from Big Bend Community College at the same time. I had my college paid for while I was still in high school so I think I might have spent a total of $1000 on books and stuff at BBCC. I was very fortunate.

I then went through the vet tech program at Cedar Valley College. Worked in vet med for 7 years until I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and couldn't do the physical work anymore. So now I am working as an office manager for a Hearing Instrument Specialist. I work with senior citizens instead of animals. They are easier to deal with, they move much slower. I miss not being able to work with the animals and that has been a real bummer. Health wise, this is the best option for me right now. ::sigh::

So this brings me back to wanting to go back to college. Because of my health I am not sure if that it would be wise to try to seek another career. Of course I did just get an email talking about making millions on eBay!

Best of luck to all of you while you continue your education and get out into "the real world". :D
