Does anyone Love Raymond?

Yes this is a really dumb play on words about a TV show on CBS Called Everybody Loves Raymond.

While I may not love the show, I do like it. Hell I've been watching it since the show came out.

My favorite episode is the one where Frank, Ray's father, drives a car through the front room. Debra yells and Marie goes. 'Debra watch your tone.'
Debra replies, 'My tone? My tone? You just drove a car into my house and you're worried about my tone?'

So does anyone else watch this show and want to comment?
I honestly can't stand that show and it boggles my mind how anyone can like it. It's just not funny. Why do people think it's funny?
I find the character of his mother charming and colorful. Actually, the entire supporting cast is pretty good in general (with the exception of the children who completely lacked personalities whenever I?ve happened to catch it on television). They all have their own quirks and the chemistry between them is entertaining. It's the main character of the show that proves to be its downfall in the end. Raymond's nasally drone, combined with the unconvincing idea of him portraying a sports writer are bad enough. Yet, it?s my lack of fondness for his humor that proves most detrimental to my interest in the show. I just don?t find him interesting or funny.

Otherwise, yes, the relationships shared by the characters are fascinating and some of the situations they?re put in are enjoyable because of their sharply contrasting personalities. The conflict, although cartoonish in its exaggerated execution, seems genuine and even warm on some level. It?s not a show I like, but I can see it appealing to older women or something.

And hey, Peter Boyle, comedy legend, come on. I couldn't see anyone else playing the father on Everybody Loves Raymond. Boyle has a sharp delivery, a great physical comedic presence (just check out Young Frankenstein), and generally, he's a really solid character actor.

Everybody Loves Raymond comes on Channel 4 over here in the UK. While the show lacks storyline and continuity, it doesn't disappoint in the comedy factor, which basically is what the ultimate aim of Everybody Loves Raymond is about - to make you laugh.

The setting is extremely basic, as it mainly takes place in the family home where Raymond is joined by his mother, father, brother, and wife (?), and the plots are usually dumb witted and fairly predictable.

In contrast to Raymond's parents, they are two very different people. Raymond's mother portrays the more sensible side to the family, looking out for her son's well being and overprotective, while on the other hand Raymond's father displays a more radical person who tends to sit in front of the TV with a beer in one hand and pulling a wise crack every now and then.

Overall, to me, ELR tries to show how everyday life for a nuclear family is (minus the dog, plus the wife), just in a more humorous context.

I LOVE EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND!!!!! :D :D :D It's one of my favorite non-anime shows!!! I just find it halariously funny how they all sometimes look like idiots!! :D

My favorite character would have to be Ray's father, Frank; he's like the supporting character that's keeping it real :box: ; he portrays the normal, everyday American man, on the other hand, another of my favorite characters, Ray's mother is totally the opposite, she's colorful, cheery, happy, sweet, caring, she's on the moon soemtimes, and her comments are often out of place (which makes it funny :) )...but, she's one of the best supporting characters I've seen in any show.

My favorite episode is when the entire family gets to speak with the school psychiatrist, even though I don't remember every tiny detail, I still remember it was quite funny, I saw it on an airplane, and I remember the guy behing me threw me every pillow he could get his hands on, just so I'd shut up!!! :toothy:

Saddly, though, they don't show it here, but's it's still one of my favorite shows!! :D
