Politicians - Truth or Lie

Ok, so with everything going on right now, like with war, taxes, bills, conspiracies, lies, and all the other stuff, how do we know we're not being brainwashed. We trust the Politicians, but are we trusting them too much. If you study history, it's all the same. The high and rich people at the top think of us just as skum and than they decide to keep cheating us and making us beleive it's all for the good, but it's all lies. And now we have TV. When we listen to the news, we believe that there being honest with us, right? But they get all there information the same place we do. From the minds of the Politicians. Some times it seems that they have the best weapon of all TV News, that they think we're like a dog and a bone. So what I'm wondering is, are they telling us the truth or are they telling us lies, are we trusting them too much? Think of what you've seen already.

Only a fool would take anything they read in a newspaper or heard on television at face value: every educated person over the age of five ought to know that the media is anything but un-biased.

Something that few people seem to realize is how hard most politicians do work. To be at a high position within the government takes an enormous amount of your time: you basically give up your own life for the benefit of the country.
It is a crooked few who totally screw up this image.

To elaborate on my first point, only a fool will take news from only one source. Par example if you were to read a story in the Toronto Star, then watch it on CNN, then read it in the Post, you'd get a much better idea of what was going on than if you settled for just one source. (or you could do the smart thing and just read the Globe and the Star...)

As long as you're aware that everything is a business, you'll do okay.

This isn't really an issue for debate. Some politicians are honest, hardworking people, some aren't. I mean, in the end, elected officials are people, too. You can't just generalize all of them as being one way or another.

By the by, there's an easy way to tell the honest, hard-working politicos from the greedy, dishonest ones. The ones that agree with me are honest, and the ones who don't xcan't be trusted.

Just do like I do. (and obviously what any intelligent person would do) Don't trust everything everyone says. Question everyone and everything you hear. Get information from more than one source. And don't take anything at face vaule.

As for politicians I really don't trust any of them. They make a livingtrying to get people to do what they want. Even the ones that I vote for I'm still wary of. Yes, I have great trust in our government.

I'ts true, that some politicians are respectful, truthful people, who try to their best by saying the truth, now, does this mean that ALL politicians are like this, now are they? NO, some politicians lie, and lie in the most noticable, way, some have could have whole lying conspiracies for all I know; and still, some people eat those lies, like a big sandwich. Some politicians are lying, dirty rats, like the government in my country for example, who has gotten away with lies, trickery and deceit (Not to mention murder...) and others, are respectfull truth-tellers, who say the truth, even if it sometimes is against them (But, some politicians lie in these cases...)

NEVER trust everything you hear on TV or radio, or read on the newspaper, even though some of the news you hear/read are based on fact, most of them aren't, and most of the media often changes things to suit them. Anyone above the age of 7 should know not to trust everything people say to them, and it's something that should always be kept in use.

So, in conclution, some politicians are truthful people, others are doulbe faced...

Politicians are human.

They lie and they are honest. Some more honest than others and some that lie more than others. After all they are people and some people are more honest than others, some lie more.

You can't say that one person is completely honest or a complete liar.

Also what Transtic said is true. No one in society today can get to where they are without some pushing of buttons so to say. Society calls that determination now a'days. Doing whatever you can to get the job done/ get what you want. Lying is no exception to that rule.

So politicians are the same as everyone else. All lie; all are honest, but some more so than others.

I tend to stay away from politics all together because its too general now a'days. One side represents one belief, another side represents the other side. Theres really not much of a middle man. Sure the green party *rolls eyes* but we see how successful those are.

Democrats and Republicans...A donkey and an Elephant. Yes we have a jack *** or a thousand plus pound mammal leading our country...God bless America

Oh and on re-reading everything the first comment is quite..biased. You are generalizing way to much about the rich people and such. Many rich people started out as the "skum" you are talking about, and many rich people contribute to society more than you do probably. To me that seems more of an uneducated assumption than anything else, but I guess everyone pulls what they want out of society.

Its true that some people think that, but as I said before. Everyone is human. They have every characteristic in them somewhere. Some more than others. I'm sure there has been a time when you've snubbed somebody. Ever walked passed a homeless person and scorned them, or laughed with a friend about someone who smells because they don't have alot of money?

Depends on whose side you're on.

If you're an Liberal Party Supporter (note for Non-Australian citizens: Current ruling government is the "Liberal" party, the irony being they are extreme conservatives) who likes what Little Johnny Howard is doing at present and you read newspapers that tell you what he is doing that you approve of, then I think that's going to be telling the truth for you.

But, if you are like me, and don't approve of the government, nor most of its policies, and you read things that are approving of the government, you're not going to think that's the truth. Personally, I'm more of the persuasion that I'd trust a Greens senator more to tell the truth rather than any other one. But that's just because I'm a dirty hippy.
