Okay, so I've researched this whole lounge and I haven't seen an official Get backers thread so.... I decided to make one.

So, Get Backers. This series is really cool. the character designs are amazing. every thing is heavily detailed. Even the battle scenes are top-class. But the things that really catch the eye are the characters. Everyone looks so cool!

If you guys have anything to say about this series, feel free to post absolutely anything.

You can post:

etc.

Heh, you're right. I don't see an official thread or anything. Alrighty then, since I enjoyed watching GetBackers, I shall contribute. :D

But then again, I've only seen up to episode 15 *sad* However, I do plan to finish watching the series this summer, hopefully.

What do I like about Getbackers? Well, I enjoy watching it because is has action and comedy, at times. It's fun to watch Ban and Ginji working together to solve those cases. At times tose guys are so different yet so alike. I can't really narrow my scope as to who my favorite character is, but I know it's definitely BOTH Ban and Ginji.

Ban is genius. Period. One wonders where he gets all his knowledge. Man, and he plays the violin too. Very bishilicious ^^

Ginji. Well, he ranks hish at the top of my "favorite cutie bishies." Ginji is soo adorable. It's soo cute when he yells out for Ban, "Ban-chan!" Ock, soo adorable. And then there's Ginji's darker side that you definitely DON'T want to mess with. Hehe...it kinda reminds me of Kenshin [Rurouni Kenshin] who sometimes switches to his battousai mode. Yes, Ginji is quite the cutie indeed *^^*

Has anyone read the manga?

I've flipped through the first volume of the Get Backers manga. It has great fanservice (for both girls and guys!), but I didn't find it particularly funny or appealing. The television series is an entirely different matter; I'd only downloaded four episodes before it was licensed by ADV, but I really liked what I'd seen. Once it's released on R1 DVD--which will presumably take place fairly soon, since Get Backers is a pretty popular anime--I plan to start working my way through the rest of the show.

I have a couple questions for those of you who've watched Get Backers in its entirety. Does the quality of the animation remain consistent throughout the series? I don't really care about that kind of thing so long as the characters stay on-model, but it'd be nice to know what kind of action I can expect from later episodes. Also, without giving too much away, were you satisfied by the anime's finale? It seems as though most series nowadays either fizzle to an end or just stop without providing any proper closure.

I know that the manga is still being released in Japan. So therefore the ending, isn't really an ending. There's more to the story [like Fruits Basket, Groove Adventure Rave].

I've only started reading the manga but i'm already in love with all the characters (including the busty beauties ^_^) and the humor touches in the perfect spots. I think Gingi is my favorite just because when he gets in chibi mode I "awww" over the cuteness of it...and that's just not my style haha

I can't wait to see the anime!

The anime remains pretty entertaining through out it's entirety it's amazing how many time Mido Ban can use his "Evil Eye" and it never gets old. I was somewhat dissapointed by the ending though a little more closeure would have been nice =/. As for a favorite character -_o... Not sure but Ginji is pretty pimped when he goes into his Thunder Emperor mode, however often times there are alot of scenes between him and Akabane in which he goes super SD which while funny at first gets somewhat annoying later on . Kakei Jubei is another great character, atleast from a character design point :p.

I've read one part of the first Get Backers comic (in a magazine. Right now, I'm saving up to by the actual comic), and I have to agree with Hittokiri Zero. Everything looks so well done. I have to stand up and give a round of applause to the creators of this wonderful comic. Only about four pages sent me to say this, so I have to stop and think how good the entire series of manga is going to be!!!

Ive only read the first novel of Get Backers. It was my friends and we always switch mange with each other. Anyway, I thought it was extremely hilarious! I cant remember though, witch one of the guys has the power to control electricity? and the other one has his "evil eye", reminds me of Hiei. I recommend it to anyone who loves comedy.

Get Backers is a very nice anime.anyone who knows RAVE should notice that in the episode:"natsumi does her best" three characters from rave became extras.it was the booty shakers who were the extras.
they wer planning to rob a jewelry store, but was interrupted by natsumi who was trying to retrieve a lost memento.during the search she was left alone by emishi cause he went to buy some food, but never came back for a long time.then emishi while buying food met kazuki.then emishi came back with kazuki to rescue natsumi of course the booty shakers lost to kazuki and emishi.
In the future, please attempt to use proper punctuation when posting at OtakuBoards; it'll make your replies much easier to read. Also, be sure to include spoiler tags if you plan to reveal the events of an episode that some members may not have seen. All you need to do is type [spoiler*]text
, but without the asterisk. Thanks! ^_^

Hehe. The reason for this is because BOTH mangakas from Rave and Getbackers are very good friends *^^*

I haven't seen that particular episode, but I'm not too surprised either. The 'Jiggle Butt Bandits' are hilarious!

Also, the mangaka from Getbackers drew a Rave fanart that appeared in one of my volumes of Rave. ;)

I haven't seen much of Get Backers, and I've only read a little manga. But so far, I really like it! It's really funny, and all the characters are really cool. BTW, how has everyone seen so much of Get Backers? I thought that it just got licensed. The only way I saw it was fansubbing(before it got licensed of course.)

First I have to say that Get Backers is an awsome anime that I stumbeled upon by chance. Thanks to one of my friends and link removed a collection of bitorent downloads for anime. This place is sweet thats how I get most of my anime now, and how I have seen up to episode 40. I wish still to see the whole series but they licensed it befor I could get the last 10 :( . But oh well its an awsome series that I need to finish. And I have to say tha one of my favorite characters is Akabane Kuroudo.

In the future, please don't provide links to illegal material. People can always PM you if they want to know the website's URL. Thank you very much. ^_^

I can understand where you are coming from dagger but link removed is not filled with illegal material. All of the subbed anime does not stay up after an anime is licensed in the states. Also all of the material is eligable for all audiances there is no pornography or any explicet material on this site. It even has a statement about there torents. So sorry for the inconvence I caused I do know not to put up these kind of sites that you were talking about. But still animesuki should be known about and they are not an illegal site so dont wory.

Thanks.

OtakuBoards doesn't allow double-posting, m'dear. In any case, I appreciate your response, but it would have been better if you had PMed me the contents of your reply so as to avoid dragging the Get Backers thread totally off-topic. However, I guess I'll take this opportunity to articulate my position on the subject of digisubs.

OB's Rules state that "Posting threads/posts with the intent of selling, distributing or advertising copyrighted materials is prohibited by OtakuBoards. We do not offer any trading post services at OtakuBoards.com. Furthermore, posting links to illegal ROMs, full episodes of movies or any other such material is unacceptable."

I download from the site you mentioned quite frequently, but that's a personal choice and doesn't make OtakuBoards the right place to propagate the spread of fansubs. Digisubs are thoroughly illegal regardless of whether or not the series in question is licensed. Most people at that site's forums admit that to be true.

It's not as though the listing isn't widely known; just about any anime fan who uses Bittorrent will have encountered the site at some point or another. Anyway, this discussion is supposed to focus on Get Backers--the manner in which you acquired the anime should be more or less irrelevant. You're perfectly welcome to tell your friends about the page you mentioned and similar organizations via PM.

Whoa...things got a little off topic in this thread. Well I really love Get Backers ad I just can't skip this one.

Animation: Amazingly lovely. You don't get to watch a good animation like this everyday. The quality of animation all throughout the series is wonderful and consistent.

Characters: Very original. It's superb how each character was given much details and different personalities, styles, and weapons. I especially loved the idea of Kadsuki's string weapon. Who would have thought strings and needles could be used as important weapons?

Story: Not too easy and not too complicated. Interesting if you're into computers (like me!) It's where Technology (Makubex, Archive) and nature (Ban's Snake Feature, the Beast Master) coincide.

Ending: Sudden. The last mission was very abrupt. I recommend having another season of this anime.

Ah! I still remember when I bought GetBackers, the first two DVDs were used at this game store near my house and I bought the first one and watched it and I fell in love with Ban and Shidou and then I went back the next day and bought the second one. I haven't had a chance to buy the rest after that but I will soon because I watched the first sixteen eps over again.

I don't really like Himiko too much, especally because she wants to kill Ban and I didn't have a crush on Kadsuki until I found out for sure he was a man. Hevn scares me too. Her boobs could knock out a cow. O__o.

You know, seeing as how I now have access to faster Internet connection, I was truly looking forward to finish watching this series over the summer. *^^*

But alas, the licensing of the show has taken it off from my downloading sources.

Will I ever finish this show? THAT is the question.

I ended off with episode 15. How will things end with Makube X? *sighs*

Volume 1 (which will contain five episodes in English and Japanese) is set to come out on August 24. You can either buy the single-disc version or the disc plus artbox set. I think the first artbox looks wonderfully spiffy, so I included a picture of it below.

Best of all, the R1 DVDs--like the Japanese release--are going to be in anamorphic widescreen. I believe that ADV plans to split the series into ten discs, with two separate artboxes. This means the individual DVDs should have excellent episode counts, considering that Get Backers is almost fifty episodes long. :)

Sounds good. Saiyuki is about 50 episodes long and split into 2 boxes. I don't know...I'd like to finish watching it but my funds...are draining away. *sighs* We''ll see what happens later on ^^;

That box looks SO cool!

This show looks so freaking good on DVD. I can't even begin to stress how glad I am that I bought volume 1--obviously its video quality is infinitely better than those of the fansubs, but the changes go beyond just that. ADV's version of Get Backers, which is identical to that seen on the R2 DVDs, blows the television broadcast out of the water. Not only is it in gorgeous anamorphic widescreen (though I mentioned this in an earlier post, I still can't get over it), but also boasts extra footage and--if my eyes aren't deceiving me--subtly cleaned-up animation.

That's not all; Get Backer's dub is one of the best I've heard in quite a while. Honestly, I think I prefer it to the Japanese version (no more Engrish!). From the very start of episode 1, every single character sounds perfect. Ginji and Ban in particular are exceptionally well acted.

Although the box is the crappy folded type that ADV gives to most non-GONZO series, at least it has some nifty artwork. In all other regards, Get Backers volume 1 is a fantastic product and more than worth its price for almost any fan of action and comedy.

I agree. Get Backers' animation is really gorgeous, no? Probably one of the best animations I've seen.

Anyway, I haven't seen the dubbed version but what I really love about the Japanese version is how Ginji always calls Ban with the additional '-chan'. I think that's one thing I need to hear while watching the show. I assume the English version don't use 'Ban-chan'?

Unfortunately, nope. Although to be honest, it always makes me feel a little uncomfortable when dub actors use Japanese honorifics. :p

Anyway, I'm really happy that you posted! I recently watched the third volume (which contains episodes 11 through 15), and it was incredible. I nearly cried like a little baby when I realized I wouldn't be able to finish this particular arc until whenever the next R1 DVD comes out (sometime in February, I think).

The whole concept of the Limitless Fortress is very interesting and well-done. The comedic sequences with Ginji and Akabane had me in stitches, especially when Ginji kept desperately trying to escape from him. There were also some great serious moments, and I finally got to catch more than a fleeting glimpse of Makubex--Mitsuki Saiga's character!--as well as Jubei, whose character design is just awesome.

So I definitely want to learn more about those two... not to mention Kazuki, another one of my favorite characters. The part when
some expendable bad guy impersonated him and pretended to betray Himiko
completely fooled me, haha. I started shaking my head and thinking, "It's always the quiet ones, isn't it?"

On a different note, Akabane seems to play the same sort of role as Hisoka from Hunter x Hunter, or even Yami no Matsuei's Muraki (evil doctors, anyone?). I love guys like that. ^_~
