Semjaza
I was going to ressurect the old thread I made for this band... but I didn't realize I posted it way back in November. I figured I'd just make a new one instead of bumping up something that old. Instead of getting into what makes The Cure so great, I figured I'd just talk about the recent news involving them. They already reformed to play at Coachella rather recently. They also appeared on Leno to debut their new song "The End of the World", which is going to be on their upcoming CD entitled simply "The Cure". It's an all new, 14 track album that's due out this June on the 29th. The single is out on radio waves now and a website is putting an official download of it up tomorrow. I'll edit that into here when it's up. Here is the tentative track list for "The Cure": "Lost" "Labyrinths" (working title) "Before 3" (working title) "Truth Goodness and Beauty" "The End of the World" "I Don't Know What's Going On" "Taking Off" "Anniversary" "This Morning "Us or Them" "Precious Advise" (working title) "Jason #3" (working title) "The Promise" "Going Nowhere" More on the album: http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000500179 The Cure is also gearing up for Curefest this summer. It will be officially announced this coming Monday, but bands are already supposedly confirmed for it according to prominant Cure fan sites... AFI and Mogwai are apparently definite and Rapture, Interpol and Muse are all still rumored. Should be awesome however it turns out.
Shinmaru
Sadly, The Cure is one of those bands that I know of, yet never really listened to their music all too much. I've heard a song or two of their's on the radio (I used to listen to the radio constantly, so I was bound to hear a song or two of their's sometime lol), but I don't remember which ones. The song they performed on Leno was extremely good, in my opinion; excellent performance.

Stupid Cure sites heh. Still an awesome lineup. The second stage has some seriously good stuff... Muse, Cursive AND Cooper Temple Clause? Wonderful. I just hope they all play here on the Chicago date lol.
future girl
I, sadly, missed the appearance of The Cure on Jay Leno and nearly sobbed because of that. I got the song from Tony though and I have to say I really like it. They're as good as ever. A lot of bands change drastically over the years and although you can't say they're exactly the same they never lost what made them The Cure. The song is perfect, nobody does a love song the way The Cure does a love song. For a long time I had this fear that I would never be able to see them perform. And now that they are and I will have a chance, I'm complete in so many ways. This is going to be insanely expensive, but it doesn't matter. It's The Cure, it may be a once in a lifetime sort of thing. I love them, just because they're so timeless. Just perfect.
Genkai
I love the cure. So much. It's not funny. As with alot of people, I was introduced to them with Boys Don't Cry, but now I'm a HUGE fan. I'm sort of afraif that their new album is gonna suck. I don't have much hope, but Maybe I'll be surprised. My friend has been to all of their "last concerts". :D

Most Cure CDs can be found at used shops for pretty good prices , since they've been around for decades now. Three Imaginary Boys, Boys Don't Cry and The Head on the Door are probably the other best Cure CDs out there. I'd recommend Bloodflowers as well, which is their most recent material preceding the upcoming CD.
future girl
The Cure was one of the bands I grew up listening to and so for a long time I could never name an exact cd, but I knew every song by heart. The first cd I remember getting into with a passion though was Wild Mood Swings. It lives true to it's name, there are extremely depressing songs on there and exact opposites. It's a great listen because of that, I especially enjoy Jupiter Crash from off there. A lot of the music has a sort of oriental-ish sound to it, it's really very good. Also, Staring at the Sea is really good, it's a compilation of the Singles so you cover a broad range of time. (For a while I referred to this cd as the one with the old man on the cover) It's really good for someone who just got into the band because it gives you a really good idea of what they're all about. Amorphous
I as so many other people here have stated, love The Cure. I really do, they are just one of my absolute favorite bands. I'm hoping they might think of traveling to Canada for touring.. or if not at least going to Seattle to play so I can see them since it's not to long of a drive to get there. As for the new Album. That's great, I've been waiting for a new one to be released anyways and more music means even more of The Cure and it just good that they are still releasing more and more albums. I still have yet to hear the new song though sadly, but I will eventually.
Semjaza
I forgot to post the cover for the album. I think it's awesome heh. I'm a little upset that the US version will have less tracks than other countries. I'm used to it by now, but it's still really aggrivating. Europe gets two extra tracks and Japan gets one of their own. I forget the titles. Amorphous
Actually that is quite an annoyance, I guess I'll be downloading those extra songs. It's not like I'll be be going out of my way to buy them, when I can barely even get my hands on CD's released in the U.S. and Canada. Either way, I still look very forward to this album. Oh, btw I agree with you that album cover rules.

Guest eightiesfeen
I am so excited that the new Cure album is coming out on June 29th. My friend at Universal gave me a stream link for their single "The End of the Wolrd". http://boss.streamos.com/wmedia/geffen/the_cure/audio/the_cure/the_end_of_the_world/00_hi.asx It rocks! I heard they're also going to be on the WB tonight for the pepsi concert special! I can't wait! :D

wrist cutter
I'm a little upset that the US version will have less tracks than other countries.
I'm a little confused. What is the album supposed to contain? The 14 tracks you posted at the beginning of the thread? It seems like adding on bonus songs for certain countries would screw up the intended flow of the album, if you know what I mean.

Then other countries get a couple extra tracks in addition to that. This actually happens constantly. I can think of dozens and dozens of bands that have offered more tracks on imports than their US versions. Most of the time they're some sort of b-side style track that has no real consequence on the rest of the album, though.
