xmystic_silverx
I was watching MTV news last night and it happened to bring up the topic of same sex marriage. For those of you who have been watching the news, the government is deciding wether or not to make an amendment to the constitution to allow this. I asked my mother what she thought of it, and all I got was "Its wrong!" and then I got a lecture about it. A lot of people who go by the bible say its against what God wanted. What do you all think? Shippou
this is one of the things that makes me the most mad. there is nothing wrong with same sex marrages. it is the choice of the person who wants t6o get married. the fact that your mother said that it is wrong is just terriable. that is the same as forcing your beliefs on some one. it is just like saying "belive in god because it is right". people like you mother (no offence) who are trying to stop them have no right it is not there choice, just because they belive in different sex marriage is fine that is their choice but trying to stop beople from doing something that does not affect them is unfair and immoral. just because the majoraty of people are straight does not make it wrong to be a minoraty. if the majoraty of people were gay were gay than your mother would not like different sex marragies. she is mearly assymalating to here surroundings doing what she is told is right. I apoligize for being so hard on your mother but I am very passionate on thisa subject and please post the lecture that your mother gave you i am interested to hear what her arguments were. Shippou And for those of you who are wondering, no I am not gay I am very straight.
Xander Harris
Yes. the Bible is against homosexuality. According to the Bible, God wiped out Soddom and Gamorrah because they were filled with practicioners of homosexuality. Hebrew law explicitly states that homosexual behavior is forbidden. Many jewish laws are no longer followed by Christians, which brings us to the New Testament... Romans 1:26-27: "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence [sic] of their error which was meet." It drives me nuts when people try to pretend that the Bible doesn't say what it clearly states... of COURSE homosexuality is condemned in scripture. However, I am equally disgusted by Christian leaders who act like homosexuality is the greatest sin possible, and like their mortal enemies are gay people. We're all sinners. There is no reason to treat homosexuals any differently than any one else. As a conservative christian, I believe homosexuality is a sin, but that doesn't mean I hate all gays. Some gay people are quite intelligent and talented. We should treat gays with the same respect and kindness we would give any other fallen human being. That's my two cents. James
For the sake of this site's sanity, I'm not even going to entertain the idea of allowing this topic to continue. This isn't because you guys haven't put any thought into your posts -- because you have, and it is appreciated -- it's because we've had this topic so many times before that it's quickly becoming redundant. Right now I can almost list off every OB member and tell you, in detail, their views on gay marriage. However, I do not want to entirely eliminate discussion on this subject. I strongly recommend searching for similar threads to browse over (so that you get an idea of where your follow OBers stand). I also recommend using Private Messaging and myOtaku to discuss the issue. I am sure that this thread will come up again in the future...and I don't mind. But let's give it a bit more time before we rake it over the coals again.
