Burori
I got this small piece of work published in my town newspaper :P Enjoy! The Meaning of Life and Death by: K. C. Davis What is the first thing that you think when you hear that a loved one passed away? Do you cry? Or do you curse that, which is forsaken to curse? My whole thought to it is why bother? Life and death although they are complete opposites they both need and have to be together. You live and then you die. The obvious fact is every human being dies and lives so why do you have to hate or grow scared of it? Of course loosing ones that you love or cherish is painful and sometimes the pain grows into something far worse than what it originally was. In the end everyone must look away and move on with their meaning of life. I myself became victim to the harsh realities of Death?s affect on a loved one. Her name was and still is in my heart, Sarah. She was one year older than I was when she passed away that night. She was only eight while myself was seven. When I learned of that moment I was stuck within a room of some sort, frozen to the world trying to piece together the information that I was given and later on faced the fact that she was never coming back. However, from her death I learned many things from it. The first is how to trust others than to trust yourself. She was always there for me in good times and bad, she also enjoyed playing some practical jokes at me sometimes to teach me the bad as well as the good. The second and most important thing I learned from her is when after she died, we all are not immortal. Then I began to think of a question as I grew up that plagued humankind from the day that they all were able to think, What is the Meaning of Life? Of course no one can truthfully say what it is but I feel that the Meaning of Life in my opinion is to do what you are supposed to do with the time that you are given. I also began to think another thought, what really does happen to those who do die? Do we end up as nothing in the end? Do we go up into the heavens and guard or return as those that we wish to guard or protect? Or do we do something much more? I have read many forms of Mythology from many cultures; Roman, Greek, Celtic, Norse, Egyptian, and the Natives but the one that brought the answer that I felt most truthful is the tales the Egyptians thought and wrote of. The story of RA seemed most enlightening to myself and further proven my thoughts on what happens to us all. It went off as RA, being the God of the Sun and ruler of all the Gods, rode across the naked sky in his Chariot also portrayed by the sun itself, travelling from the West to the great East, which the Egyptians portrayed that as where the underworld was. When RA would reach the East he would do battle with an immortal Serpent sent by his rival, Osirius. In the end of the battle RA would be eaten each time but with the aid of Anubius he would break free to start the next day anew and have to fight the Serpent again in a never-ending limbo until the Sun itself never shows again. The Egyptians also believed that if you die only your body is the object that disappears and rots, while your soul lingers on to a new and incredible journey. The mind and the soul are split apart as they make the journey then they rejoin clean and new for the next trip back into the days of life. There the individual will do what he/she was destined to do until the day that they have to take that journey again. Death is so common why do we fear it? You can die, I can die, but the only thing you must truly fear is how. Death comes in all sorts of forms: Accidents, murder, suicide, old age, medical problems, physical problems such as heart failure and such, and of course there is also the type of death that seems completely useless like what we all witnessed on the day of 9:11. I notice many people are too afraid to die. What they should fear is what they are meant to do with the time that was given to them. I await the day when Death comes knocking on my door. However, I sense that day is far from this day. I will make mistakes in my life but it all comes down to what you do with your life. Making people happy or sad, Helping those who need help or helping them without asking. Death holds no power over me however, life does as it should. To fear Death is to fear that which is destined to occur. Life after all can not be anything without Death.
