Sara
My idea of a perfect afternoon involves running to the mailbox and finding an envelope with my name on it. I just love getting mail. One of the saddest things I can imagine is an eternally empty mailbox. That being said, I take precautions to prevent said empty mailbox. Frequenters of myO know that I periodically request (and even receive!) free stickers by post, thus combining two of my favorite things--mail and stickers. Be still, my heart. Anyhoo, I also have several pen pals. My family, school friends, and teachers all know that I am constantly writing letters. (I love writing, too, so this works out pretty well.) I usually have a couple letters going at once--some people require longer replies than others, so I'll start and finish a shorter letter to one person while in the middle of a long one to someone else. But anyway, I probably have half a dozen pen pals right now. I have 'contacts' in five (or so) states and a couple in other English-speaking countries. *waves to them* Next year, I'll also be writing to a girl in Finland and (possibly) two others in Taiwan and Germany. (The last two were exchange students who were at my school this year; whether or not we write each other next year depends on what happens this summer.) (Err...I've gotten a couple PMs about this, so I guess I need to say that I am not currently, uh, accepting applications for new pen pals. Especially if I don't know you--sorry!) So, does anyone else have pen pals? Where do they live? How long have you known them? How did you become pen pals? Anything else interesting that you'd care to share?
Queen Asuka
I also LOVE writing letters. I usually write letters to a few people, even though not as frequently as I would like. I know that you, Sara, have sent me a few things, and I owe you something. It's just a matter of finding the perfect thing to send you! My favorite thing is just to write random letters to Ryan. When I was still in high school, I used to just sit in class and write them and then hand them all to him on the weekends whenever I saw him. Now if I write him a letter, I make sure that it's long and meaningful so that it's worth the 37 cents that it costs me to mail it. I also have written tons of letters to John aka PiroMunkie. We were doing really good a while ago sending them back and forth, but I haven't recieved one in a while. I guess now that summer is here, there will be more time for writing letters, as long as working doesn't interfere too much. I also write little letters in cards to Jenna all the time because she no longer frequents to OtakuBoards and I don't want to lose contact with her. Last thing I sent to her was a card that had two old-fashioned ladies on the front and one was blonde and the other a brunette (coincidentally), and it said "Some people think they look as good as we do. But they are wrong." I thought it was pretty funny. ^_^ At Christmastime, I sent out over a dozen cards to people like Josh, James, Tony, Sara, Kenneth, John, Jenna, Deborah, and others. This year it seems that I'll be sending a dozen more. ^_^ Speaking of Tony, he still owes me APC stickers.
