No_Regrets
Hi! I was wonderin' if anyone here had a list, or knew where to get a list of all the anime conventions in the united states. I know that there is one in my area, Iowa, in Des Moines in September. I got that from someone @ the arcade. And I'd like to know the date so I could finish my Rock Lee costume, Dead-angel's Garra costume, and Kenshin-sama's Miroku outfit on time! :( Anyway, anyone ever been to a anime convention? I havent yet but I'm thinking about goind to Anime Expo 2005 next year and that is my dream.....but I really want to hear about them if anyone has ever been to one!
Dagger
These types of threads are usually not permitted, as they don't generate quality discussion, and the creator's question can almost always be answered via Google. Unless you want this topic to be closed, I recommend that you edit your original post and invite members to talk about any aspect of anime conventions. Feel free to PM me or one of the other moderators if you have additional comments or concerns. Thank you very much. ^_^ ~Dagger~
Guest Gale
I don't know if this will help much, but my friend has been to one. She told me about it. I don't know about the dates of them or where any are at. Anyway she said that they had art galleries where different anime artists showed some of there work. Also she said they had, I think, a kind of theater with different anime characters. She said it was pretty funny. They sold books, dvds, toys, and a whole lot of other anime related items. There were a lot of people dressed up too. She told me the guy who created Vash was there, and he was even dressed up like him. All in all it sounded really fun to me. I want to go to one! Ohh, wait! She was even drawn as an anime character. She paid for the guy to draw it. Sorry, I kinda forgot to add that. I think the name of the convention was Yoshicon 3.(I THINK) I don't think I spelled it right, oh well. I hope I have helped, even if it was just a little bit. Bye! Flashlight
My Anime Con Tips!: -Bring a camera to photograph other cosplayers. Not a huge deal, it's just a lot of fun! -Bring a lot of money if you plan on visiting the vendor rooms. If there's something you really want, look for it right away since the more popular stuff sells out the first day. If there's nothing you really want, feel free to browse, but I reccomend you save a good portion of your money for the last day, as most vendors would rather give huge discounts rather than lug all the stuff back to their shop. Try bargaining. :) -Pack a lunch and bring some water (Or pop or juice, but I reccomend water if you're cosplaying as it's easier to get out if something happens to spill). Be prepared. -Though you don't have to register in the Cosplay competition to cosplay, I reccomend that you do. There are usually awards for workmanship, and for the skits (If you do a skit, or else you can just do a walk-on [walk accross stage, stoping briefly to strike a pose]). If you do wish to join the competition, make sure to register as early as possible. -If cosplaying, there aren't many places you can change, so be prepared to stay in your costume the whole day. I have a lot of tips of cosplay, but that's getting off topic. -There's tons of stuff to do at a con. Of course there are your standard viewing rooms in which you can watch various anime, but there are usually panels and many other events taking place. I'm not saying you should plan the entire day before hand (That could be boring), but have some structure so you have a slight idea as to what you're going to do. If your con has a sight, visit it regularily and look for updates. If you have some sort of plan going in, it's harder to get lost. -If it's your first con and it's a big con, make sure to stick with a group, or a least one other person. It's real easy to get lost, though people at these cons are pretty nice and will probably help you out if you ask. But, it's always better to have someone with you. Ask around here or on other message boards to see who is going if you need someone to hang with (Though, don't create a new topic on it, that could be seen as spam, just ask in this topic or another anime con topic). Let's see... That's all I can think of right now. I'll edit this post with more if I think of any. If you have any questions, even the slightest insignificant ones, always ask. :) Oh yeah, and most important of all, Have Fun! :)
