Box Hoy
So what's everybody's favorite Sonic game. I've got a poll of all the Sonic the Hedgehog games ever. Also, not on the poll, who is your favorite character from all the TV shows, Video Games, and Archie Comics. My favorite character would have to be Knuckles just because he can beat Sonic. Also, why hasn't SEGA done anything with the Super Emeralds seen in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles that make you able to go past Super into Hyper. Aanallein
Most definately the first was the best. I loved the original and still sometimes pull out my old Genesis and play it. I really enjoyed it. Although, 2 and 3 were also good. As far as the best character... I don't know what it is, I've always been partial to Tails. He is the faithful kid sidekick that just loves his hero Sonic. Ashura
I have a favorite sonic game that is not on that list i played it a gameworks ,i forget the name but it is a fighting game like tekken but it has all the characters from sonic its a fun game but i think its only i arcade but i dont know...
Yeah, it was only released as coin-op. It was called Sonic the Fighters (and sometimes Sonic Championship). People have been campaigning to try and get Sonic Team to release it on a home console for a while... Sonic is still my favourite character, even though his voice is horrible in the Adventure series (as well as Heroes). A close second is Shadow, basically because he's such a badass (especially in the Archie comics). Loved seeing him actually physically attack Robotnik/Eggman in the comics. He has a Vegeta feel to him, IMHO. Emerl would be third. I nearly cried when
Emerl died
in Sonic Battle. BTW, your missing out on a hefty amount of Sonic titles here. Where are Sonic Advance 1,2 and 3? Where's Sonic Battle? What about those MacDonalds toys (my friend would vote for them...)? If your gonna have one of these 'Your fav game' polls, you've gotta have all the games, not just some. So I'm just gonna say which are my favourites... 3D Sonic (at the moment) - Sonic Adventure 2 2D Sonic (at the moment) - Sonic Advance 3 Fav Sonic of all - Probably Sonic CD
My favorite character would have to be Knuckles just because he can beat Sonic.
Where has it been specified that Knuckles 'can beat Sonic'? From what I can recall, they've been pretty even.
Also, why hasn't SEGA done anything with the Super Emeralds seen in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles that make you able to go past Super into Hyper.
Because everyone's Hyper form was only thrown in to add something more to Sonic 3 and Knuckles. It wasn't included because it left too many loopholes in the storyline. Plus, it was pretty useless adding it for the 3D ones because Super was invincible anyway. Hyper just flashed purdy colours. :D
MaxSonic
I AM THE ULTIMATE SONIC FAN, BWAHAHA! My favorite Sonic used to be Sonic 3 & Knuckles, but now it's Sonic Adventure 2. You can fix the voice acting by changing the voices to Japanese. The Japanese voices are excellent. My favorite Sonic game may be Sonic Advance 3 soon. My favorite Sonic character is Sonic, then Eggman, then Tails. PH33R M1 S0N1C P0W4H!
Flashlight
Sonic, boy that brings back some good old memories. My favorite Sonic game is probably Sonic 2. First game to feature Tails, and the first game I got for my Genesis (Not to mention my first Sonic game ever). Sure, Sonic 3 was probably better (Except for the emerald minigame) and Sonic and Knuckles was a blast as well, but Sonic 2 just has that huge nostalgic factor, and that's what makes it my favorite. The Sonic advance games are pretty good, I still like 2D Sonic over 3D Sonic. My favorite 3D Sonic game is Sonic Adventure 2, I really enjoyed the Sonic and Shadow levels (Though, everything else proved to be a headache). I wish the roll hadn't lost all it's use though, it used to be one of my favorite moves (Though, the only other move really was the jump). Sonic Heroes was a bit of a dissapointment to me though. Guess I was expecting too much. There are so many Sonic spinoff games too, Sonic Battle, Dr.Robotniks Mean Bean Machine, and (My personal spinoff favorite) Sonic Spinball. Fun Fun Fun. :) My favorite character? I can't decide.
Manic Webb
My favorite Sonic game is probably 3 for the Genesis. I really enjoy playing as Tails, and unlike Sonic 2, you had full control over his flying ability in 3. Me and my brother used to team up in Sonic 2 and 3, with me always as Tails. I'd clear everything and grab all of the item boxes in the dangerous spots (because player 2 couldn't die or lose rings), so we really just breezed through the game. I loved Sonic Spinball. Granted, I never made it past the lava/factory level, but I'm just a pinball fan. I only played a demo of Adventure on my cousin's Dreamcast demo disc, so I never got the hang of that game. I only played Adventure 2's "vs" mode at a friend's house and watched him play one level alone. So my opinions of those games don't really count for anything. Still, I think they were alright. I bought Sonic Heroes last week, so I guess that's technically the first 3D Sonic game I've played. I'm a little upset that Tails is such a bad character to play as longer than 10 seconds in this game-- at least in my opinion. I just don't like Fly characters here. Other than that, pure fun. I also like the emerald bonus stages.
Ashura
Yeah, Sonic Heroes was pretty bad. It pissed me off that to make the teams actually work, they had to tone down character's moves, or remove them altogether. Plus the fact that you'd be hanging out for a part where you could just let loose some speed with Sonic, and then be forced to stop 5 seconds later to take out some enemies with Knuckles or (*shudder*) Tails. The team system just broke up what Sonic games were supposed to stand for...crazy action at breakneck speeds. Plus, there was basically no story, they made a mockery of Mecha Sonic (which is an insult to all Sonic fans worldwide) make you lose lives when the game stuffs up (repeditively), and had boss fights that mostly relied on luck, not skill. Adding Espio back to the staple of characters was a great idea, but the rest of the Chaotix just got on my nerves. Plus I was hoping for a Team Classic (Sonic as Speed, Ray the Squirril as Fly and Mighty the Armadillo as Power) as a tribute to SegaSonic the Hedgehog (the first Sonic arcade game). Grinding was insane in parts, frustrating in most others. Characters didn't look as good as their SA2 counterparts (they looked like plastic, and lost some of their edge) and Special Stages were buggy and crap. The only level that impressed me in the slightest was Act 1 of that level with Eggman's fleet. Seeing all those damn ships surprised the hell out of me, and the initial drop and grinding session only fueled my belief that this level was made for Sonic's abilities. I was wrong. Dedicated to Tails and Knux (as are the rest). Pure boredom. The only reason that I kept this insult to harcore Sonic fans is to make sure my collection as complete as possible. Sonic Battle and Sonic Adventure 3 well and truly made up for it, though.
You can fix the voice acting by changing the voices to Japanese. Shinmaru
Even though the theme of that game is really old..I kinda like them all. :tasty:
But why do you like them all? By simply saying you 'like them all', you're not really adding very much to this conversation. You don't have to write a graduate thesis on the subject, but at least elaborating a little would be nice...
sophic
Sonic Adventure 2 all the way for me i love playing with chao's its so fun and i love how they both go with each other the hero and the bad but its fun to play right now i have sonic battles and i play v.s. with my friend all the time its so glitchy but its fun to me ^_^. Ashura
Yeah, the Chao's in SA2 were pretty fun. I borrowed my friends copy of SA2:Battle a couple of months ago (as my Dreamcast has been pretty temperamental as of late) and had heaps of fun building up a Super Sonic uber-chao. So much fun! I was so pissed when they got rid of it for Heroes, but I can see why (with that whole GBA connection thing, and Sonic Team wanting all three versions identical)... Guest Z fighter
Sonic adventure 2 is way better on the dreamcast then on the NGC.
Ashura
How so? SA2:Battle has a few extra options than SA2 (except for the online component, which was pretty useless anyway) like the more distinct differences between characters in 2P mode, more 2P levels, a slightly better Chao Garden setup with connectivity with the Sonic Advance series, the Shadow theme (which I believe was the only one you couldn't get with the DC version), and slightly better graphics. I can't really see any reason to say that the DC version is better than the GCN version, except if you are a huge Sega fanboy. BTW, I'm not trying to bag you out with this comment, as I'm a bit of a fanboy myself. But it is fairly obvious that SA2:Battle is a superior game. I actually used to believe that SA2 was a better game when I first played Battle (I felt that the grinding was a little too sensitive).
Semjaza
For those of you that care, the Sonic Mega Collection for GCN is only $15 at Circuit City this week. Good deal.

There used to be a rumor, I believe originated between the releases of Sonic 2 and 3, that there was a game called Sonic Crackers. It's not about Sonic eating Crackers and from the screens I've seen (2D) Sonic and Tails are holding rings like in the ancient 32X Genesis game: Knuckles Chaotix. I don't know if its a hoax or not but if anyone knows anything about it tell me.

It was codenamed Crackers for some reason (probably to disguise the fact it was a sequel to Sonic 3 (or Sonic and Knuckles if you prefer :))). The only release available to the public (in ROM form) is very buggy, and only features two levels (that aren't very playable because they weren't finished). Many Sonic fans believe that when the 32X (another add-on for the Megadrive/Genesis) was released, Sega wanted a killer title featuring the Sonic style of gameplay, so Yuji Naka moved the idea of Sonic Crackers to the 32X, and Knuckles Chaotix was born. Note that this is just speculation - there is no concrete evidence to say this is so, but with the fact that both games use the 'combi-ring' gameplay, it is pretty safe to say that Sonic Crackers was a precursor to Knuckles Chaotix. There are a few sites somewhere that look at all the Sonic games that were never released, as well as many levels that never made the final cut. I can't remember the url at the moment, but I'll have a look around and see if I can find it...
Box Hoy
That's alot of info. Thanks. Anyway. Another question for all. Does anyone collect the Sonic comics and if so who's is your favorite artist. i personally like J.Axer. He lives in my state (Oregon) so he's like the Sonic rep for it, I knew about him before he was actually drawing for Archie Comics. My only other is Spaz. He does really good covers with tons of detail to each character. It stinks though because they abandoned the occasional 48 page speicals for some reason. And I was wondering if anybody caught the entire space adventure. It started on comic #125 and ended when Sonic returned. I can't remember what number that is but right now they are working on #139 is my memory serves me right. Anway that's all
SonicSlash
I think my favorite sonic game was Sonic the Hedgehog 2. My bro and I used to play it every day, I would be sonic, and he would be tails. I think it was very innovative of them to come up with the multiplayer aspect that they put into it, and it is, to this day, my favorite sonic experience ^^ Meanwhile, I'd have to say my favorite character is Sonic. He just has this attitude that nothing can get in his way, and he can do anything if he tried, and quite frankly, he's my idol ^^ The only thing I hate is when they give him a voice, he always sounds too masculine...he's a hedgehog :o but oh well. Sonic is by far the coolest in my opinion.
