i liked 9's the most where you had to learn everything... and 7's was good as well cause you had to decide between STR/DEF, # of materia slots, combination of materia, or just plan looks :), thou some of the older ones are good to where you just learn a move at a certain level :) PE for example

Grandias!

Oh wait, i forgot, Grandia has absoulty nothing to do with Final Fantasy...

for Final Fantasy i'd have to say, 9's was the best so far, 8's was just to complicated....

for one, 8's didn't suck, its people who didn't take the time to learn how to use it..that made it look worse then it was.. its really nice actually

tho i do like 3's, where once you have learned the spell from the esper your character knows the spell :) thats very nice..

7's materia system was interesting.. i wouldn't say it was the best though

i havn't played 9 so i cant really judge on that yet

After reading your replies I was beginning to think none of you have played FF6 ><, ::hugs jcgoudy:: FF9's....yeah that was good, but I don't think any of them could match 6's complexity. I love 7 and all, but the weapons, accessories, and armor in 7-9 just arent as diverse (and as for 8 armor? accessories? nope none of that, and 'weapon upgrades', pfft). W/ 6 there were endless combinations (I want 2 accessories again, argh), tons of weapons, etc. and stuff. It aso happens to have my favorite maic/ability system, with everyone having some unique ability like blitzes, or swdtech's, throw or dance, it forced u to really think about who you take in your party. In 7 you could switch all the materia, in 8 you could switch everything. 9 was very close to 6 in individuality, and it made magic more character-specific, but the weapons just went up in strength and that's it =\. At least FFX still has MP.

eek, FF6 a remake of 3?!?! heh where've u been coolkam007? Ok lemme try and...summarize or something, in Japan there's 6 Final Fantasies on NES and SNES, FF 1, 2, and 3 are on NES, 4, 5, and 6 are on SNES. Whew, ok anyway 1 came over here, since it's the first FF duh they named it FF1. The Japanese FF2 and 3 never came over here (altho you can play translated ROMS, they're freakishly hard tho). The Japanese FF4 was the next to come here, so they named it FF2 since it's the 2nd one, and I guess you can figure out that FF6 was the next to come out, which is y it's called FF3 here. Not counting Anthologies and stuff which goes back to Japanese numbering ><. Either way, hope that helps a little bit. Either way yeah Espers were awesome teaching spells to the individual, 26 (or so) different summons, mmmmmmmm.

>.<' .. heh.. ironic bit is that i just learned this after i posted that.. sorry.. my bad.. lol

so.. ff6(***).. is really 3(us) and.. ff6(us) is a remake of the ff3(us)?.. O_O *falls over dead and confused*
Nah, that's not confusing. Try to understand this:

When the first FF came out in Japan on the Famicom (the NES, in the US) they also released it on the NES over here in the US. Then, when FFII & III came out, they never released them in the US. Then finally, they made FFIV for the Super Famicom (the SNES in the US) they also released it in the US, but, since the US had only gotten the first FF, they named FFIV, FFII. Then they released FFV, also for the Super Famicom, in Japan, but not in the US. Then came FFVI, which was the last FF game on the Super Famicom/SNES. When they released it in Japan, they called it FFVI, but in the US, there were only 2 other FF games, so they called it FFIII. Then when FFVII came out in Japan and the US, they decided to ditch the US numbering and go with the actual number. Awhile later they re-releseaed FFIII together with FFV on the PlayStation as FF Anthology, but instead of calling it FFIII, they went back to the Japanese numbering and called it FFVI. Then, they decided to also re-release FFII and Chrono Trigger as FF Chronicles, but, again, they went back to the Japanese numbering for FFII, calling it FFIV.
Got all of that?

Okay, here it is, nice and simple:

FFVI is a re-release of FFIII, only they added FMV movies. Other than that, it's the same game.
FFIV is a re-release of FFII, only with a better translation and FMV movies. Other than that, it's the same game.
See? Simple.

Hey Jcgoudy,

the actual best combo (imo) is the thief's glove and the offering. On locke :D or genji glove and thief's glove.
Yeah, but with the Offering and Genji Glove on Celes, using the Atma Weapon and my other best sword (I forget what it's called) I can do max damage or more with those 8 attacks (added together). I don't really use magic with her anymore.
