This is just a basic beginning to my manga I'm creating. Any questions about the anime, such as their ages and such I will post later. Hope you like this beginning introduction.

?Grandpa, do you know where the big Egyptian book is?? Lyn asked as she looked through several books on her grandpa?s large shelf.

?You tell me.? Her grandfather said turning around. ?You?re the one who arranged them Lyn.?

?Aw man, where is it?? Lyn said to herself, but something happened to catch her eye.

A brown book, worn from age, read at the top ?Golden Griffin Clan? and at the bottom was a small picture of a gold griffin.

Surprised to see this odd and fascinating book she had never seen before she race out of her grandfathers study and to her room.

?Did you find it Lyn?? Her grandfather called out as he noticed her running with a book in her hand. ?Apparently so.?

Closing the door behind her, Lyn jumped up on her bed and opened the book. Inside were many different things about this Golden Griffin Clan. Every word was clear to her as she read about this clan. Of course, Lyn had always been a quick study. Ever since she had been taken out of school in the second grade and home schooled she had learned very quickly. The home schooling made it easy for her parents to travel to the different parts of the word in their expedition. But it was mostly because she was a helper of her grandfather. Helping him with his work in Egypt would help her to become a good archeologist as well when she became older.

In looking at the book she was now reading, she had begun to think it might just be a fairy tale or perhaps a myth. The griffin clan, as the book described it, was a clan of people, but of people who were could become griffins. In fact there was one time that they were all just griffins. But Lyn wasn?t able to finish the rest of the page as her grandpa knocked on the door. Lyn quickly slid the book in her black and yellow backpack, grabbing it as she did, and ran towards the door.

?Mr. Hemps, I hope your findings will be a lot more promising then last weeks,? Mr. Boss said. He was the vice president of the Carlton Museum in England and head of the archeological dig in Egypt. ?I trust your grand daughter will show equally as promising effort in her work today hmm.?

?Yes Mr. Boss, me and Lyn will work very hard in order for this museum to be a hit,? Lyn?s grandpa said anxiously.

?I do hope so Shisho, I do hope so,? Mr. Boss bowed and began to walk down the hall towards the doors going outdoors. ?Good day.?

Lyn and her grandpa just stared as he exited the building, wondering if anything they did would ever satisfy his high standards.

?Lyn, do you have everything ready for the archeological dig today?? Grandpa Shisho asked.

?Yes grandpa.? Lyn said happily as they made their way toward the door to outside.

Upon arrival everyone greeted both Professor Shisho and Lyn. And soon they began their dig.

?Professor! Professor!? Yelled a man in a dark tan colored shirt and pants. ?I think I may have found something!?

The professor and his helpers ran quickly towards the direction where the man had found something important.

?It appears to be an ancient form of jewelry,? The professor said, holding the jewelry. ?But it seems to be almost new, as if it were made just yesterday.?

Everyone stared in amazement at the piece of golden jewelry. The jewelry had obviously been someone else?s who had just buried the treasure as a prank. But for some reason Lyn had a feeling about the jewelry. She didn?t know why, but it seemed almost like she knew where it had come from.

Usually when one of her grandpa?s helpers had found something ?important? they would sit and talk about it for hours. These were the times when Lyn just kept to herself and found something to do quietly by herself. She preferred finding things that were awesomely extraordinary and then finding another. Maybe if her grandfather didn?t take so long to find out how exactly something works he would get more of his job done.

Lyn began digging, hoping to find something she could show her grandpa so he would turn his attention her and not the findings of one of his students.

?In discovering you are learning and in learning you are growing. So there for, my dear, you are growing each time you are discovering and in this matter you will always be discovering.?

Lyn?s grandfather?s words always seemed to be right there in her head when she needed them most.

Lyn kept on digging, trying her hardest to find something, anything she could find. No luck, she was unsuccessful in her searching. And worse was that her grandfather and his crew still hadn?t finished looking at the piece of jewelry.

Lyn decided she might as well read some more of the book she had gotten from her grandpa?s study. But she would need somewhere quiet to read, away from the loud conversation of the crew. So very quietly and cautiously Lyn walked off to a sandy hill and looked over head to see if she could find a place to sit and read. She began to walk down the hill on the other side, but suddenly lost her footing and rolled down the hill. Oddly enough she didn?t stop going down hill from their. She kept rolling, and rolling, but this time she fell down a narrow hole into a large pit below, leaving her unconscious for a few hours.

She awoke later that day dazed and confused, wondering where exactly she was. She tried to get out of the rather large pit many time, but each time resulting in failure.

?Oh, how will I ever get out?? Lyn asked herself. ?I need a plan. I need some way I can get out of this?

Lyn suddenly realized a large tunnel leading somewhere. But where exactly? Eager to get out of the pit and possibly up for a little adventure, Lyn took a match from her backpack, and using the little light she had from the narrow opening at the top of the pit hole, took out a flash light and began to make her way towards the tunnel, hoping, as she took each step, it would lead her back to her grandpa.

?Where in the world does this tunnel lead?? Lyn asked herself as she walked along the tunnel, tearing cobwebs out of her way. ?You?d think it would have stairs to get up and? Ahhhhhhhh!? A huge spider about the size of her hand came crawling towards her as she leapt in the air and screamed, hoping no body heard her because then if they found her they take her as a fool and an amateur who didn?t know what she was doing.

The spider ran off just as quickly as it had come and Lyn continued her journey down the dark tunnel. It wasn?t long before she came to a large door with a giant picture of a griffin and a human. It looked suspicious, but Lyn was willing to take a chance if it meant getting back to the surface. Lyn put her hand on the vine covered door and felt a strange aura coming from the door, but still determined to get out of the dark tunnel she pushed as hard as she could and soon found the light at the end of the tunnel. Unfortunately this tunnels light just happened to have a city connected to it, a really big city, filled with people and? GRIFFINS?

Lyn couldn?t believe her eyes, was this the ancient city of the Golden Griffin Clan. She began to walk out into the city and down a street. The city was covered by a thick stone wall that surrounded it in every corner. But despite this the cities streets and shops seemed to be spacious and full of life. Except for the fact that the people were all wearing ancient clothes of Egypt and were either all human, half human and griffin, or full griffin.

?I never would have thought that this city really existed,? Lyn said to herself as she walked down the street. ?I guess the book was right, but now how will I get back to the surface? Huh, I wonder why their not wearing modern clothes. And if they?ve lived here for centuries, how do they get food? The book never mentions that. I guess the use the hole I fell in and fly out of it. Hey! Maybe I can ask one of these griffins to fly me out of here through that hole, they seem friendly enough.?

Lyn walked towards a tall man who happened to be talking to another equally as tall man and asked very politely ?Sir, I was wondering if you could help me by flying me out of this city??

?What? Are you not a griffin?? Asked the man with a confused look on his face.

?I ah....no of course not.? Lyn said with a smile. ?So can you help me??

?Oh we can help you alright!? The man said sternly. And then aggressively he grabbed Lyn and began to take her towards a large building.

?Hey! Let me go!? Lyn said loudly. ?I didn?t do anything.?

?Quiet human!? The man yelled loudly as they entered the large building. They went through a large hall and then through huge doors that led to a large room filled with people. And at the end of the room, a lady ,maybe five years older then her, sat in a large chair wearing a white dress and golden jewelry along with a head band she wore in her red headed hair that had a topaz jewel in the middle and in the back was golden feather-like ears looking almost like a griffins, as if they were her own.

?My Queen, we found this human in the city,? The tall man said as he threw Lyn to the ground in front of him. ?Apparently she found her way in some how.?

?Hmm....? The Queen thought as she played with her a strand of her red hair. And then thought to herself. ?This girl must be special in some way if she was able to find a way to get in her, even my most skilled warriors could not penetrate the walls that bind this city, and my priests have given up trying to find an exit. She must be exterminated or who knows what could happen to this city. Hmm...Maybe I can make this a bit interesting.?

?My Queen, what should we do with her?? Asked the soldier.

?Take her to my bother,? The queen said aloud. ?Let him deal with her. He always seems to scare off every girl he meets and he shouldn?t have a hard time getting rid of her. Give him my orders and he?ll know what to do. In the mean time, get the girl dressed in something clean, I don?t want her dead body looking like we just killed some peasant girl.?

?Yes Queen Akila, we will do as you request.? The soldier said. And taking a scared Lyn with him, along with other soldiers so she wouldn?t get away, they made their way towards the wardrobe room where Lyn would be dressed by several servants into a fashionable, ancient dress and jewelry. They then dragged her to the brother of the Queen Akila?s room and threw on a large white rug.

?Stay here, your executioner will be here soon.? Said one of the guards with a grin as he left the room.

Lyn just stared nervously at everything in the room. What was going to happen to her? One moment she was excited about finding this place and then the next she felt like was going to faint.

Suddenly a great wind came in from the window, and with it a figure who seemed to have flown into the window with great black and red wings.

Lyn gulped as the figure walked towards her, revealing his face so she could see it more clearly. The face, tough and cold, showed no signs of kindness or of letting her go. And his jagged brown hair seemed to tell her he was an assassin and a criminal.

As he stared down at her with his dark brown eyes she felt more scared then ever and almost felt the need to cry. Sensing her fear the boy lighten his face and dropped her backpack in front of her, the one the soldiers had taken away from her when they sent her to the wardrobe room. She stared at it meekly and then back at the boy, who was now kneeling down beside her holding the golden griffin book in his hands.

?This book,? The boy said in a calm manner. ?You can read it? Every page??

?Um...Yes.? Lyn said softly, still very scared.

?Hmm.? The boy thought for a moment as Lyn just stared clueless at him. ?How would you like to join me on a quest? I know you know how to get out of here.?

?Um...I ...I want to go home,? Lyn said with a scared look on her face.

?What! Listen, you?re the only one who knows how to read this text,? The boy said in a steady voice. ?I need you to navigate for me. You?re the only one who can do it.?

?But I?m not suppose to be here, I want to go home.? Lyn said to him as she began to cry.

?I know you must miss your family, but if you want to return to them you must follow my order and become my navigator. I promise to release you once we have gotten the item I desire.? The boy said sternly. Lyn looked away and wiped her tears off her face. ?It?s either that or I will be forced to kill you.?

?Okay, I?ll help you.? Lyn said nodding her head. The was a knock the door as the boy called for the person to come in.

?Niu, are we all set for the quest?? Asked a boy about the same age as Niu.

?Almost, this girl has agreed to be our navigator.? Niu said standing to his feet. ?We just need to go into town and get the necessary supplies for our journey.?

?Hi, I?m Jabari.? The boy said as he held out a hand to shake Lyn?s. He wore a head band patterned in a triangle design that held up his black hair along with a robe-like jacket almost the same as Niu?s. ?I?m guessing your not a griffin. What is your name??

?Lyn Hemps.? Lyn said as she stood up and shook his hand.

?Hey Jabari! Don?t be getting any ideas about her.? Niu said sternly. ?And I hope your not think about taking your little girlfriends on our quest.?

?Of course not.? Jabari said smiling and waving his hands in the air to signal he was telling the truth. ?But I don?t see why you?d make such a big deal about liking Lyn, unless you got dibs in her. Besides, girls just naturally love me.?

Thank you. I am pleased to get some good feed back. Hopefully my art is a sucess as well. I have almost finished my other chapter. I will post it soon. For now I'll put in a summary a put together in the last minute. How you guys will get a better grasp on the history.

Griffins, unlike most mythical creatures are amids. Creatures born with the charraristics of more then one animal. In a griffins case, a lion and an eagle. But that was not how it all started, and how it all ended in being. The griffins originally originated from phoenixes instead of eagles, but because of the closeness between eagles and sometimes even other birds of prey such as the hawk, the griffin quickly became known as just the half lion, half eagle creature. No knowledge was even remembered by the people, only a distant myth that slowly wisped away as time went by. Of course the griffin clan wasn't just a solitude or neutral clan. Griffins felt a certian duty to protect the Pharaoh of the land, or at least the ones who originated from Egypt. The pharoahs of each generation gladly accepted their offer in protecting them from harm, but they felt they should give a gift as a tolken of their gratitude. As the generations went on the griffin clan grew stonger and more powerful, becoming one of the stongest creatures in the world. The pharaohs feared this power the griffins had developed, but still greatly respected them. In one such generation the Pharaoh believed that if he gave the griffins a gift more precious then any other given, and passed a decree have all other Pharaohs after him to do so, he could protect his empire from the power of the griffins even after he died. So the Pharaoh offered up the most precious of things to the griffin clan in exchange for the safety and protection of the clan. He gave up his daughter. Several generations passed down, each one obeying the decree and giving up their daughter so that their sons could become Pharaohs. The Griffin Clan had no intention of just keeping girls, and they weren't about to eat them, so the clan agreed that each girl they recieved after each generation would become their new queen. And by using a special magic they were able to make the girls half griffin, but still human, in hopes that some day their clan would become almost human like the Egyptians. In time the clan did begin to change, and soon griffins could not only look like griffins, but like half griffins and full humans. But that was all.

U did a good job so far! It needs some editing but it's great! I think u should describe the locations and people a little more like...

"Lyn found herself in a huge elaborate city, with humans and griffins everywhere! The city looked almost as if it came out of ancient Egypt itself with two-story adobe homes for peasants and huge golden buildings for the rich! It was beautiful and glowing, gold everwhere. The people, griffins and half griffins all wore grand jewlery rich and poor, and they all wore pleated, linen kilts and dresses...etc."

Sorry I get a little carried away sometimes ^-^. But u really have to research the subject too, the only reason I know all that is cuz I had to write a huge final on ancient Egyptian culture for a drama project. But it's kinda cool because when u research it u find out things u never knew and come up with ideas on how they will be dressed when u draw them. By the way I love to draw original characters myself if u ever need an artist to draw some of the characters look me up! ^-^ I'd be more than happy to draw a character for u.

Chapter Two- The Hidden Temple and the Griffin Staff

In making their way through the crowd Niu gave everyone a list of things to get for the quest telling them not to say anything about it or the Queen may find out.

While Niu took care of things like the weapons, incase they were to encounter something along the way Jabari took care of the food and water supplies, food was scarce down in the underground kingdom, but because of a special mystical force the place not only provided light for the griffins to be able to see, but for the plants as well. And as for the water, an underground spring was found and provided plenty of water for everyone in the kingdom.

Lyn?s task was simple, but putting it into act with out getting caught because she wasn?t a griffin was difficult.

?Excuse me ma?am,? Lyn said in a soft, kind voice. ?How much are those cloths and these blankets??

?The cloth is three coins each and the blankets are five. Hmm, weren?t around here this morning?? Asked the old and very suspicious lady. She appeared to not be able to see very well with sagging eyes and skin. ?I know I recognize that voice from somewhere?

?Uh...Probably someone else,? Lyn said as she took the blankets and gave the old woman the coins she had received from Niu.

?You know you look just about my grandsons age.? The women said just as Lyn was leaving. ?He?s a mighty warrior and I?m sure you?d make a good wife.?

?Uh....? Lyn was speechless with the old woman?s words. Could she be serious, she was only fifteen. Suddenly a familiar voice was heard.

?What is it now,? Niu said with stubbornly. ?Is this old hag giving you trouble.?

?Oh I beg your pardon, I didn?t know you were Niu?s girl,? The old woman said kindly.

?She?s not my girl!? Niu yelled as he bopped the woman on the head. ?Why does everyone think I like her! She?s my navigator and nothing more.?

?You know you really should respect your elders Niu,? The old woman said angrily. Lyn could only watch as she blushed because of the ladies words. Suddenly the woman handed Lyn something, and looking down Lyn could see what exactly it was. ?The beautifully crafted necklace, having a golden charm of a griffin holding a topaz was truly a sight to behold. ?Here you are my dear.?

?What?s this?? Lyn asked the woman who smiled meekly.

?This is a golden griffin necklace,? The old woman said wisely. ?It contains a special power inside of it, this power can only be truly awakened when you are able to unlock it. Until then, it will help to guide and protect you through your journey.?

?What! Hey have you been listening in on our conversation?!? Asked Niu angrily.

?Uh...No, of course not!? The old lady said aloud smiling.

?Excuse me, how exactly do I unlock the power and exactly is it that?s inside?? Lyn asked hopefully. The lady just scratched her head a few times before she finally gave her answer.

?I really don?t know. Sometimes its by battling your hardest, other times it?s through love, and then there?s always beauty. I like to think I got mine that way.? The old lady said as she brushed back her hair.

?I think this lady has totally lost it.? Niu said silently.

?I heard that Niu!? Yelled the old lady.

?But what is that power? You never told me that.? Lyn?s patience was growing then and so was Niu?s.

?Were in a bit of a hurry.? Niu said as he turned away for the old lady.

?Aw, going to find the golden griffin staff I see.? The old woman said with a huge smile.

?What!? Niu quickly covered the old ladies mouth. ?How do you know about that??

?I don?t know..Uh street talk I guess.? The old lady said as she tried to catch her breath.

?Please, tell me what the power is?? Lyn as again, trying to be as kind as possible.

?Hey you guys I got the food and water.? Jabari said loudly. ?What did I miss??

?Nothing. Come on lets go.? Niu said turning around once more, this time walking forward.

?But I...? Niu just grabbed her arm and took him with her.

?Come on, we don?t have any time.? Niu said as he began to walk faster.

?Good bye and good luck you three.? The old lady yelled. ?And Lyn, make sure to take good care of Niu, he can be a bit of a handful.?

Lyn just smiled and then gasped. She hadn?t even told the lady her name. Was that the power she had received? Was she a psychic?

?Did you know that old woman?? Lyn asked Niu as they walked quickly through the city.

?Uh.. Yeah. Her grandson, her oldest one, was almost married to my sister.? Niu said not even bothering to look at Lyn. ?Where is it you entered through to get here??

?I went through a large door covered in vines...Over there.? Lyn pointed to a small building. As they moved towards the back they could clearly see the large door in which Lyn had been talking about.

?Huh... I?ve never seen this before.? Jabari said with a puzzled look on his face.

?I know, It?s like it just appeared over night.? Niu began to reach for the door knob and pulled so the door opened and revealed the tunnel Lyn had traveled in the day before. ?Okay, now we just go through this tunnel??

?Yes,? Lyn said assuredly. ?And at the end you?ll see a narrow hole at the top.?

?Then what are we waiting for,? Niu said and began to run. ?Come on it?s almost day break.? Lyn had almost forgotten she had been there for quite a while and had not gotten any sleep since. But it wouldn?t matter now if she was tired now or not, if she didn?t listen to Niu or Jabari?s orders she might be killed and not be able to return to her grandpa or her parents.

They kept running through the tunnel with out even stopping to stare at even a spider in their way. At least Niu and Jabari had no problems with spiders.

?AHHHH!? Lyn screamed. ?Ew...Gross.?

?What is it!? Both Jabari and Niu asked as they turned around and pointed their torches towards where Lyn was.

?A spider!? Lyn said as she backed away from it.

?A what? Come on, it could have been a cobra, but no it had to be a spider.? Niu said very annoyed. He sighed and stepped on the spider with his shoe. ?There is that better??

?Thank you.? Lyn said as smiled.

?Yeah whatever,? Niu said as he continued to walk. ?It wasn?t that big of a deal.?

?Hey guys I think I see the narrow hole Lyn was talking about.? Jabari ran to where the hole was and waved his hands in the air. ?Come on you guys, last one up is a rotten egg!?
Jabari quickly transformed into a half-griffin and began flapping wings as he flew threw the narrow hole.

?He?s always a pain to have around,? Niu said as he stood underneath the hole. ?Are you coming or what??

?Yeah,? Lyn ran towards Niu and allowed him to pick her up so he could fly her through the hole.

?About time you guys got up here,? Jabari said as he looked out at the rising sun.

?Get out your book Lyn, I think I saw a map in it.? Niu said in a commanding voice.

Lyn pulled out the Golden Griffin book and began to flip through the pages. Finally finding the map they needed to find the hidden temple where they could find the staff, Lyn pointed in the correct direction and they began there quest to retrieve the golden griffin staff. Why they were getting the staff Lyn did not know, but she couldn?t do anything about it anyways.

Both Niu and Jabari transformed into their full griffin forms and began flying towards that direction.

?Um guys?? Lyn didn?t want to be a pain or make them mad, but if she couldn?t fly she would need a ride.

Niu and Jabari stopped in mid air and turned around to find they had forgotten Lyn couldn?t fly. So Niu, even though he seemed as if he resented it, let Lyn ride on his back.

?So what exactly is the golden griffin staff?? Lyn asked as they high in the almost lightened sky.

?The Golden Griffin Staff was one of the few objects the former golden griffin queen had,? Jabari said as Niu?s eyes widened. ?The object had the ability to make anyone even the holder a half or full griffin, so even say there are other forms as ?

?Jabari! Maybe it would be better if you just kept your mouth shut.? Niu said aloud with a cold look in his eyes.

Lyn began to notice Niu?s beautiful feathers and his fluffy fur as she sat there with nothing to do, the feathers and fur intertwined together to form a beautiful coat.

?Lyn! How long til the next turn,? Niu?s voice shook her a bit as she turned to her book.

?Not very long, just to that rock hill, then you turn left.? Lyn closed the book and put it back in her backpack. She pulled out some binoculars and began to look to see if she might be able to see the next stop from their.

?What is that?? Asked Jabari in amazement.

?Oh these? There binoculars, you know?

Jabari just starred at her blankly. Niu only starred straight ahead, apparently not interested in what Lyn had to say.

?You mean you?ve never seen a pair of binoculars?? Lyn asked Jabari.

?Uh.. There?s a pair? Where?s the other one?? Jabari asked as he looked in her backpack.

?Hey, Jabari it?s already heavy enough without you get of.? Niu grabbed a hold of Jabari and threw him off, sending him floating off in the sky.

Lyn just slumped down as she put her binoculars back in her backpack.

?Heavy enough as it is?? Lyn thought to herself. ?I?m not that heavy am I.?

?So what exactly do those things do?? Jabari asked with a smile.

?They allow you to see things that are far away.? Lyn said with a meek smile. ?But how come you don?t know what binoculars are? Do you even know what a T.V. is??

?Uh....no. Is it something I can eat?? Lyn just starred at him with a blank look. ?This is the year 1860 right?? Jabari asked hesitantly.

?Um...no. This is the year 2004.? Lyn said with a fake smile.

?WHAT?? Both Niu and Jabari just starred at each other and began to laugh.

?Hey what?s so funny?? Lyn asked.

?You and your silly theories,? Niu said with a grin. ?When you fell through that hole you must have hit your head harder then you thought.?

?But I?m telling the truth,? Lyn said angrily. ?Really, it really is 2004.?

?Well if it really is 2004,? Jabari said wiping the tears of laughter from his eyes. ?Then I want so proof.?

?But I already showed you proof,? Lyn said as she pulled out the binoculars and showed them to Jabari once again.

?Hmm, that is true,? Jabari said as he looked at the binoculars. ?You know Niu maybe she?s right.?

?Hmm, I don?t think so,? Niu said as his face became serious. ?When I last checked, just before the closer of out clan?s kingdom, the year was 1860, and it?s only been one year since then, but for some reason I can?t seem to remember why exactly out clan was sealed underground. But that won?t matter once we have the rod. We?ll retrieve it and bring the kingdom to peace once again.?

?What do you mean?? Lyn asked curiously. ?I thought your kingdom was naturally underground.?

?No, the kingdom, as I vaguely remember it, was set in a high rock form.? Niu said it a slight grin. ?All I want for our clan is for us to live in peace. And somewhere in my mind, I feel as if this kingdom was cheated out of it?s rightful queen.?

?Huh, what do you mean Niu?? Jabari asked with a confused look on his face.

?Just forget about it. It was just a hunch.? Niu said. He then turned to Lyn. ?What?s our next sign we need to follow??

Lyn quickly pulled out the book and searched for the map to find it. ?Our next sign is? Wait, I think were almost here. All we need to do is find a large rock formation shaped like an elephant.?

?Okay then, we may need to fly lower for this one.? Niu said as he tilted his wings toward the ground so he would get less air and come down. But Lyn wasn?t exactly ready for such a low drop and held on really tight. Jabari, holding a lot of the supplies, tilted his wings a little slower and soared carefully down to where Niu and Lyn were.

?I wish you would have warned me before you did that.? Lyn said as she loosened her grip.

?Hmpf... You?ll get used to it if you stick around long enough.? Niu said with his cocky, cold grin.

Lyn just stayed still the whole ride and only talked when Niu asked where to go next.

They finally arrived at the temple, the underground temple, and began to look for an entrance to temple, but no such luck.

?Lyn, are you sure you looked at the map right?? Niu asked as he looked empty space of sand. He transformed into his human form and began to look even harder.

?Yeah, I?m positive.? Lyn said as she looked around as well.

?Maybe it?s buried somewhere,? Jabari said as he began digging in his human form.

Niu kept running around and looking for any signs of the temple. Unfortunately something caught his eye, well actually caught his foot first, tripped him, and then caught his eye, or whatever eye he had left since he practically smacked his face in the hot sand.

?What the? Hey you guys come check this out!? Niu said as he rubbed the sand out of his face and eyes.

Everyone rushed to where Niu was standing and stared at the weird pointy object he was pointing at.

?Hey, I bet it?s part of the temple!? Jabari said excitedly. ?Come on, lets dig it up.?

?I don?t know. Maybe we should look for a trap door or something.? Niu began feeling the sand and banging it in hopes to hit some sort of stone.

Lyn began to look around and began digging for other pieces of the temple. Lyn didn?t get very far before she reached an empty space in her digging and then accidentally fell into the empty space that happened to be the former temple.

?Help!? Lyn cried as she rubbed her swore head. She had already fallen into a hole once and she was not to happy about landing into this one. She quickly took out her flashlight from her backpack and shined it on the temples entrance. Niu and Jabari came quickly flying down.

?Well, well Lyn, it seems you have a good talent for finding places hidden underground,? Niu said with a grin as he took her flashlight. ?Especially if it involves entering through a hole. Hmm...and what exactly do you call this device??

?Well it?s a flashlight,? Lyn said with a smile.

?A what light? This seems like a simple torch to me.? Niu began waving his hand over the shining light. Lyn touched the surface of the glass where the light came from and watched as both Niu and Jabari looked in amazement.

?It?s not at all like a torch. You see, I can touch it with my fingers without being burned.? Lyn said with a look of genius on her face.

?So how do I use this flashlight anyways?? Niu asked as he tilted it downward and began shaking it. Lyn quickly grabbed the flashlight and pointed it towards the temple.

?Like that,? Niu only glared and turned towards the ancient temple.

The temple was very large and had a huge entrance, one of which was not to be ignored by Lyn?s curious mind.

?Wow, this temple is incredible,? Lyn said as she looked at the white marble arch way. ?I?ve never seen a temple before.?

?Come on Lyn, we can look at the temple later.? Jabari said as he walked past Lyn. Niu, who was already way ahead of them was studying a wall and looking to see if there were in chances of traps.

?What are you doing?? Lyn asked while she shined the flashlight on Niu.

?I?m checking for? Oh never mind, just get that flashlight out of my eyes.? Niu said in a mean tone. He turned back to his work.

?But don?t you need to see what your doing?? Lyn asked, but Jabari put a hand on her shoulder.

?You obviously don?t know much about griffins. That?s easy to understand, since your just a human.? Jabari said win a grin on his face. Lyn was appalled by the response he gave her, but said nothing as he kept talking. ?Griffins, unlike human, have a special night vision, this allows them to see in the dark.?

?Oh, kinda like other animals right?? Lyn asked as if she was really interested, of course she wasn?t.

?Yeah, I suppose.? Jabari said with a smile. ?Hey Niu, you find any traps.?

Niu just sighed and turned around to face Jabari and Lyn. ?If I had I would have told you.?

?Sorry I asked.? Jabari said as he rubbed his arm.

Lyn only stood there thinking. ?Why is it these guys haven?t given me any respect, they treat me like I?m a slave. I mean sure I?m a prisoner, but that?s still not excuse for the way they?ve been treating me.? Lyn suddenly noticed something in the dark as she flashed her flashlight at where it was. Small holes had been made in the ceiling, about a two inch circumference, perhaps a trap. She?d have to warn Niu or he and Jabari would walk into the trap and who knows what next

?Um Niu I think there may?

?Lyn, I?d appreciate it if you were quiet and didn?t say anything.? Niu said in a tough manner.

Lyn just looked up at the ceiling and then looked at Jabari who could only shrug as he stood their in silence.

?Okay, I think I?ve checked every inch of this passage way, it should be safe to go through.? Niu said as he stepped into the darkness. Lyn quickly flashed the light on Niu and yelled for him to watch out. Several arrows came darting down from the ceiling where the holes were located. Each one came down with great force and most were aimed directly for Niu. Lyn and Jabari could only watch as the air came pouring down. Niu?s having griffin ears, wings and a tail, because he was half-griffin at that moment, was able to hear, dodge and destroy the arrows with a single magical flap of his powerful wings. Niu land on the ground and looked at Lyn.

?Why didn?t you tell me there were arrows?? Niu asked. Lyn tried to answer by telling him she had tried to, but Niu just continued talking. ?Never mind, lets just hurry before another trap is set off.

The all ran threw the large temple, looking at each hieroglyphic covered wall to see if any would help them find the staff quicker. No such luck was with them as each of them, including Lyn who had studied many ancient hieroglyphic books.

?I think I may no where it is.? Lyn said aloud. Jabari turned to face her, Niu however had no interest in what Lyn had to say. ?I remember, in several of the books we had the prized objects were usually found at the temples end. That would mean we would need to go straight.?

?We?ll then what are we waiting for, lets go find the staff.? Jabari said as he ran through the temple.

Lyn just sighed and smile as she walked behind him, but suddenly notice Niu wasn?t with them, she tried finding him back where they were, but was unable to locate him. She finally decided just to go on without him and ran the direction Jabari had taken.

Running through the temple alone made her feel uneasy, and even though the two guys she traveled with didn?t really like her because she was a human, she still sort of wished they were there with her, that way if she ran into a snake or maybe something even scarier she would someone to protect her, or at least be there. But she wasn?t gonna let something like a scary, dark temple scare her.

Lyn walked into a room and flashed the flashlight around, to see what was in it. The temple seemed to be quite different from other temples. There were many rooms and traps found inside, almost like a pharaohs tomb, except this tomb had no mummy. Lyn turned around and found herself starring face to face with an ugly creature. Of course Lyn screamed and several seconds later Niu came running. Finding Lyn was screaming a statue he grins and shows her the true beast form by taking the flashlight and shining it on the statue of a griffin. Lyn could only stare as Niu dragged her out of the room.

?I thought that was a real monster.? Lyn said as she shivered.

?Griffins are not monsters, you humans only see what?s on the outside and never the inside. And every creature you can not tame becomes a monster to you.? Niu said as he continued walking and looking in rooms.

?What? We look at what?s on the inside. And the only reason some people may think griffins are monsters is because they have been known to eat people.? Lyn said softly.

?That?s not true at all. We?ve never eaten a single human, only fish!? Niu said scornfully. ?You should never, however, underestimate a griffin.?

?I?m sorry, I didn?t know, until just yesterday I never even knew griffin?s existed.? Lyn said quietly.

?Hmpf, that?s surprising since you had the Griffin Clan book.? Niu said as he exited a room he had just viewed. ?I think you?re theory my be correct, the griffin staff probably is at the top.?

?Um..Niu, why is it exactly you want this staff? I know you want to bring peace to you clan, but why is that?? Lyn asked meekly. Niu only sighed and looked down for a while before turning to her.

?I just want my clan to live in peace, without having to live underground. My sister may be the queen, but she?s not the true queen, somehow I just know she isn?t. And if my sister finds out we found an exit to the outside world, she would have he soldiers guard the exit so she could keep every griffin locked up. She only cares about power and not what?s best for the clan. That?s why I have to get the staff, go back to the clan and challenge my sister for the rights to the clan. Of course, in order for me to seize full control of the clan I will have to marry, since only females can become leaders by law, but that will be a small task, compared to the happiness of the clan.? Niu said with out blinking for a second.

Lyn was not only confused, but concerned. She was confused about why Niu would even care about the clan if he was so cold hearted, and she was concerned because of what may happen to the people...a griffins if they weren?t able to find the staff.

?Hey you guy?s I think I may where it is!? Jabari yelled as he signaled for them to follow him through the room ahead of them.
They quickly ran as fast as they could and ended up at two large doors, twice the size of anyone of them, created from a thick mixed of who knows what that was hard it seemed as though they may not be able to enter.

?If we can?t push or pull I?ll just knock it down,? Niu backed up and transformed into his full griffin form. Then using all his strength hit the large doors with a bang. The doors didn?t even budge as Niu prepared to attack once again. Lyn could help but feel there was some other was to get in to the temples last room. She began feeling for the door and looking for something, maybe a knob or a lock. She looked to the left door, and then the right do. In not finding anything she began to look else where, like to the side or possible the floor, but none seemed to hold the key she needed.

?Hmm..If I were the former queen I was...well she must of had wing. That?s it!? Lyn said and turned to Niu, who was still trying his hardest to knock down the door. ?Niu! Do you think you can fly me up to the ceiling??

?Yeah, why?? Niu asked as he stopped smashing the door and flew to the ground.

?I think the answer to our problems may be up there.? Lyn pointed the ceiling and looked for an answer from Niu.

?I?m trusting you to be right Lyn.? Niu said with an unsure look. ?Okay then, hop on my back and I?ll fly you up there.?

Lyn got on Niu?s back and held onto his fur as he flew he up to the high ceiling of the ancient temple. Lyn began flashing the flashlight at the ceiling and searched for anything that could possibly open the doors. She found a weird square shaped dent in the ceiling and thought for a moment a what might fit in it as a key. The dent had to be some key to the opening of the doors, but what was square that she could fit in the dent. Lyn looked around to see if she could find anything that might be square, without any luck she tried to think of something else. Perhaps if she just stuck a book in there about that size she could balance out the length with the exact sized book. Then it hit her. The Golden Griffin Clan Book, that was the key to the unlocking of the doors. She pulled out the book from her backpack and turned it face up towards the dent.

?Did you find anything yet?? Niu asked impatiently.

?Yep.? Lyn put the book in the dent and pushed hard. Suddenly a loud rumbling noise came from the doors and they began to open.

Lyn quickly took out the book and placed it in her backpack as she knew Niu would be more then eager to go through the doors and get the staff.

Upon entering the room, Lyn, Niu, and Jabari could only stare as they saw what was inside.

The huge room, created from the purest of white sand and walls covered in beautiful ancient pictures depicting griffins living with humans, had several statues lined up and leading to the staff that all looked like griffins. The stone in which the staff was made of golden sand and the staff itself was truly a site to behold. Ironically there even seemed to be a line of light streaming down from the ceiling to the staff, making it?s beautiful golden and crimson linings shine even more with the fascinating image of a griffin?s head atop the staff.

Niu began to walk towards it and went up the stairs to the staff. He reached for the staff and grabbed a hold of the it. Suddenly a sharp shock hit him from inside the staff and sent him to the ground.

?Niu!? Jabari yelled. ?Hey Niu, are you okay??

Jabari and Lyn both ran towards Niu and checked his pulse to see if he was alright. Without warning Niu suddenly rose up and rubbed his head and arms.

?I should have been in my griffin form.? Niu said as he got up.

?Here let me try,? Jabari said, about to reach for the staff.

?No, wait!? Niu said ?There?s no since in getting us both shocked. Lyn, look in the book to see if there?s a special way to remove the staff.?

Lyn began looking through the book, but was unsuccessful in finding anything on how to remove the staff.

?Well there?s got to be some way we can remove the staff.? Niu said as he thought.

?Maybe the staff can only be touched by females?? Lyn thought as she looked the staff. ?If the queen was of course a female, she or someone else probably made it to where only a female could possess the staff.?

Lyn reached for the staff, hoping that her hunch was right.

?What are you doing?? Niu asked as he grabbed her arm. ?We can?t have you touch that staff, even if you are a human.?

?Why is it because I?m a human you don?t respect me.? Lyn said a bit mad. ?I know what to do!? Lyn pulled her hand away and grabbed a hold of the staff. As she pulled I out, everyone could see that Lyn was indeed right because the staff had not shocked her at all.

?She pulled out the staff.? Jabari said with a smile.

?That?s good, now hand the staff to me.? Niu said. He tried grabbing for the staff, but before he could even reach it the staff shocked him once again. ?What is the meaning of this, why did it still shock me even though we have retrieved it from the block it was in??
?I think because only females can hold the staff.? Lyn said as she looked at the staff which seemed to be very heavy. She let the bottom hit the floor as she rested her hand, but something began to happen as the staff hit the floor. Lyn suddenly began to glow, kind of like when Niu and Jabari changed forms, except this was a lot of glow. Suddenly Lyn herself began to transform into a griffin. Niu and Jabari both watched as she changed from a human to a beautiful white and gold griffin. Never in there life had they seen a griffin like this before. White with gold tips on her ears, arms and legs, tail, and the tips of her wings, neck and stomach was truly a sight to behold. Lyn looked at herself and gasped for a while.

?What am I?? Lyn asked as she looked at her paws.

Both Niu and Jabari were to stunned to say anything, but were unable anyways because of the rumbling sound that came from the temple as the large doors began to close on them.

So what do you guys think. Just post any comments, criticisms, or ideas you may have and let me know what your opinion is. I mean I can take. So come on, come on. Eh, eh! Go ahead and reply. Thanks!

In answer to Inuyasha_Pro's words. I myself think the manga does sound a bit like Atlantis, but if ya stick around, as the story unfolds you'll find it to be a bit less like Atlantis.

I'd like to thank everyone for the comments and criticism they gave me, it really helped me a lot. I guess I should post these pictures too, that way you can see what the evil villan looks like (top one) and the other evil villans boyfriend looks like.(bottom one) Hope you like them, well except for the one of manu at the bottom(I was kinda tired.) Please let me know what you think of the characters look and not really the artwork, cuz I can definatelly draw better. Oh and the character Gahiji a.k.a. Guy at the top, his look is mostly undecided, so it may change some.

Okay now I've edited the character Guy or Gahiji and pretty much this is just another idea of what he could look like, the hair anyways, as for the clothing, he wears both the white robe and the red shirt at different times in the manga. Kinda confusing, huh?
