I was just wondering whether the lead singer of Nirvana had a eating disorder, it is a project for school, If i'm not mistaken he had anorexia but I can't remember what the name of the song he wrote about it was called... if you know can you please let me know... I feel bad not knowing as I love Nirvana!!!

Hmm...I've actually never heard that...

He did have stomach problems all through childhood and into his adult life-I don't think they ever figured out what that was. Not to mention he used large amounts of drugs...

The only song I can think of (off the top of my head) that might point to your anorexia theory is [I]Pennyroyal Tea[/I]:
"Sit and drink Pennyroyal Tea/I'm anemic royalty" and actually, anemia and anorexia are to completely different things (Anemia=low iron in blood) so it might be that someone misheard it and started the rumor.

A lot of people don't know the difference, so don't feel bad (I have anemia, and everyone I tell that too always tries to give me an intervention... :rolleyes:)

Then again there might be another song out there that I missed.

[color=darkblue]First of all, Kurt was just sort of naturally short and scrawny to begin with. He got picked on by jocks a lot in high school.

Second, he was very poor and starving before he got famous.

Third, he was a notorious pill junkie and had bad ulcers, so it was hard for him to eat anyway.

Fourth, he was a heroin addict, and heroin addicts don't eat much.

Being probably the biggest Nirvana fan you'll ever meet, you can safely assume what I say is true when I tell you that Kurt never wrote any mainstream song about anorexia. He might've written some obscure B-side about it that I've never heard of, but I doubt it.

I'm a huge Nirvana fan too and I can't think of anytime he sung about his eating disorders. Maybe "And I forget just why I taste, Oh ya I guess it makes me smile." From Smells Like Teen Spirit. I dunno, just brainstorming here. I'll write sum other lyrics. "When I'm feeling tired, she pushed food through the door." -Paper Cuts. "They live a lifetime that is comfortable, They travel far to keep their stomachs full" -Swap Meet. "Sell the kids for food, weather changes moods" -In Bloom. "Polly wants a cracker, I think I should get off her first" -Polly. "Chew your meat for you, pass it back and forth, in a passionate kiss, from my mouth to yours" -Drain You Oh wait, I found something! This might have something to do with an eating disorder "And I'm living off of grass, and drippings from my ceiling, it's okay eat fish, cause they don't have any feelings" -Something In The Way. That's all I can think of, hopefully this has been some help. If he talks about having anorexia in a song then my guess is it's Something In The Way. Well, later!
