JC Goodwin
Oh yeah i play guitar to. I got two guitars. My first one which i learnt to play one was a Yamamha Pacifica. That is a nice guitar but really its quite bulky and heavy. I also own which is my pride and joy a KERRY KING WARTRIBE 1. That guitar is a BC Rich. They are my favourite type of guitar because i dont think any thing sounds as good as a bc rich and it also just screams metal. Kerry King and BC Rich teamed up to make it and it is such a beautiful creation. The body is made of bass wood. The neck material is maple and the finger board is made of rose wood. Its got 24 jumbo frets and the scale length is 25.5". The headstock style is beast like on the worlocks and it colour is black with red tribal graphics on the body to. The hardware colour is black to. The tuners are sealed diecast BC Rich and the controls are 3-way toggle,2 Volume,1 Tone. I love that guitar. Im also hoping to get my hands on a NJ series worlock too. I was going to get a worlock but got the wartribe instead because Kerry King is one of my favourite guitarist and proably the best. Slayer are also my favourite band and it cause of listening to guys like Kirk from Metallica, King and Jeff Hanneman, Mick Thompson, Toni Iommi from Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix (R.I.P) that inspired me to become a guitarist. There anit nothing like ripping a good few hard riffs and a ear melting solo.
Dragon Warrior
I have an acoustic guitar I selt-taught myself on. I'm getting better (didn't start too long ago. At the beginning of this year). I do write songs on the thing (which people seem to like), but I haven't gotten around to writing them down yet. So far I've written three major songs: Wandering Warrior Life Left Behind Umm... Shoot XD I forgot my other song's name. That just goes to show how good I am. That and it was my newest song so didn't really stick in my head. But I do know how to play it. Currently, I'm working on this wicked Spanish-like song :)
Oceanborn
Hmm, I'm playing for two years and I'm more like into speedy stuff. Yngwie Malmsteem, Sonata Arctica and stuff. Lol. Well, it's fun. (wides yawnly) Yo, that's it! Yo, I'm c001,man, yo!     ./31337! qzx_r00t!82. ^_____^ -------------- Ye ol' geezer. (I imagined myself, a 15-year old geezer. Heaven's Cloud
I have been playing the guitar for a little over six years now, although I don't get to play nearly as much as I would like. I think you made a good choice by going with an ovation because they aren't terribly expensive but you can play most of Ovations series anywhere and for nearly any circumstance. My only recomendation is to buy a fundamentals book early if you are going to teach yourself. I tried toteach myself just by playing tabs and sheet music and I regretted it once I realized how much it would have benefited me. Have fun. Fall
I used to own a Fender Skull and Roses. I don't tend to like the colour of it... though that's another story. I played that for a few months, about seven, until mum bought me a new one, a Jackson DX6 Dinky. I haven't got the hang of this one yet... nowhere as near a good as I do with my Fender. Dad actually wanted to get me a Jackson KE3 Kelly for my birthday but there's no way I'm expecting him to get it. It costs way too much. If he gets it... I'm going to have to find some miracle way to pay him back for it. I can only play little pieces, mainly the start of songs released already or the ends of them. For instance, I can play the start of Nothing Else Matters, The More I See, King Nothing, and The Memory Remains (somewhat), all by Metallica, I can play the start of Chop Suey and Aerials by System of a Down, and I'm in the process of picking up the start of Trust by Megadeth (it's damn hard). I usually only play the electric guitar when I've got nothing to do, I'm at home being lazy. That usually the only time I pull out the guitar and amp. I will at other occasions, but hardly ever, and only when someone asks me to play a bit.

terra
I picked up guitar sometime in high school ... maybe four or five years ago now. I'm not that great at it, not in the least because these days I leave it at home and don't even to bring it to college because I hardly ever play. Haha, I'm horrible enough that I don't even remember the brand of guitar I have, though I know it's an acoustic :P. I taught myself like most people seem to have ... I've been playing music, er, practically since I was born so at least I got some of the basics down. I have no idea how many songs I've written. Plenty, almost all of them crap. A lot of them were written on the piano as well (my first and best instrument). Actually I used to, heh, be in a band and I wrote half of the songs on a CD that we made for ourselves and our friends. Ah, that brings back some memories. Man. Anyway, yeah, guitar's a great instrument.
bishonenNEKO
Oh I play sometimes, Im not overly impressive, but i can play folk songs and such from memory, not into playing all the Rock though, i like to listen to it, but i dont like to play it. TOTALIMMORTAL
Hell ya, I play! I love playing the elctric guitar, it's my favorite hobby next to skating. I don't really like acoustics, I'm much more into the heavier faster sounds. I'm getting pretty good. I have two electric guitars: A Fender Stratocaster and I just recently got a B.C. Rich Warlock. Just like James Goodwin, I love BC Rich. I almost got the Kerry King but instead I got the Warlock. I'll put a pic of it at the bottom of this post. Well, playing the guitar kicks ***, Rock On Everybody!!! This is the package I got.

DetectiveMikeRS
I play both guitar (Fender Squire) and bass (Ibanez), (in addition to piano, flute, autoharp, harmonica and mandolin). I can play the opening riff of Don Henley's Last Worthless Evening on the guitar, but not much else yet. I am still learning that's why. I can play bass like Geddy Lee though, and have written some very advanced bass lines for my band. I'm a pretty good songwriter too, and wrote all the words and music for my band as well. Guest Sean
I play Guitar aswell as Piano, i can play tons of stuff of Guitar, e.g Maiden, some SOAD and Blink 182. Blink 182 a 3 year old can play so thats not really something to be proud of but Maiden and System of a Down am proud of. Oh yeh anyone who stays in Fife get ready for Stickmans Revenge, We'll be playing soon, lol. But what else can people play aswell
Syn
Heh, I wasn't going to post because I thought this thread was pretty much dead but I really had to. Different makes of guitar arent any easier to play in general, although granted people have their personal preferences, its all the same. The only thing thats different is that accoustics are easier to start out with. Accoustics arent as brutal as electric guitars, if an accoustic is slightly out of tune, you cant tell, but with an electric, it really shows. And something else, this is just my opinion, but BC Rich are so over priced its un true. They're not bad guitars in general but on the whole you're paying for the trademarked designs. Anyway...I dunno if that really had any preference to anyone but back to the topic. I've been playing the bass for over two years now and the guitar for one. I have a cherry red SG, epiphone. Though im hoping to get a BC Rich mockingbird i've seen going cheap (second hand). Since bass is more my thing I dont concentrate too much on equipment for my guitar, but I use a Zoom amp, I got it for its built in effects. And later on I bought a Boss Metal Zone pedal. As for songs, im in a couple of bands, we write our own stuff in both. I'll try and tab some out if I can be bothered sometime :P and covers, I did a lot of metallica, guns n roses, velvet revolver, blink 182 (because as mentioned before, a 3 year old can play Blink stuff and its fun) but im getting into playing Avenged Sevenfold and Killswitch Engaged songs now...i'll play anything, depends what mood im in. Sorry if that made no sense at all...I forgot what the topic was about half way through so I had to do a varied reply x_X;
Guest Vash331
Man i'm in highschool marching band it's pretty much required that i play the guitar, but i probally would anyways. I've been playing for a little over a year and just recently got my first real guitar, and Epiphone sg special, and a practice amp. Right now the damn amp is in the shop so i havn't been playing much lately. And i'm not yet good enough to make up my own music yet so i pretty much just get tabs off of mxtabs.net , i really reacommend learning to read tab, it's really easy, and useful. Rock On!
BL00p d3 L00p
I just started playing guitar like 4 months ago, but then didn't have time to practice because of school. -_-' I have my own guitar too. It's an accoustic and an electric guitar. So i have two. Usually i practice playing em every weekends if i don't have any stupid chores to do. The first song that i know how to play is this song...i forgot what it is but the song was sang by Paul McCartney. (Have to ask my dad what the song is x.x) And, yeah, my dad is my guitar tutor. =D It's not really hard to play the guitar. but to me, it's kinda hard, but it's a challenge. =P
