:smirk:

The reason they use son is because Goku's grandpa was called Goku also. So to tell the difference they added son. It's not Japanese though.

San holds respect. Used for people around your age or above that you may not know so well.

Kun is used for males and only males. You cannot call your girl friend ____kun.

Sama is Mr/Ms. No, it is not Mr. Kami. Kami-sama means God in Japanese.

Chan is usually used with female friends. Or when youre talking to children. Or when little children address each other. Boyfriends and girlfriends and lovers can use chan to come up with cutesy names for each other.

To add more to that...

Gokou's grandpa's name was Gohan, not Gokou. Anyway, as I've said in the past, traditionally, the Japanese last name is said before the first name. (ie: Hamasaki Ayumi... Ayumi being the first name, Hamasaki being the last).... Son is simply Gokou's last name. Hence why his son's are Son Gohan, and Son Goten.... it's just Gokou's last name.

As she said, -san holds respect... whether it be female, male, kid, whatever... it's just a thing.

Kun is used for males, and in particualr boys. it generally is used to denote a boy, or someone younger... Junior... in DB, Bulma refers to Gokou as "Son-kun"... Son being his last name followed by the suffix -kun to denote he's a boy or younger...

Sama is often refered to as "Lord, Master, someone of higher authority" whether it be a man or woman. also refers to Mr. and Mrs in a total respective view... they are older, wise, stronger, smarter... etc...

Yeah... Navi said basically everything for chan... It's a feminine term used to denote feminity most of the time. By no means, as she stated, does it refer to ONLY females... it's cute :) Kawaii!
