Cyriel
Anyone read this lately? It's a series by Mizuki Hakase, and so far I think there are four books out. However, I've only read two of them, and I'm trying to find the others. I'm not sure if they've been released yet though. Anyway, I must say that I absolutely love this series so far. It starts with 15-year old Chiaki inviting Ororon, the King of Hell, into her home to live with her. Promising to stay with her forever, the meeting of the two begins a kind of sad, compassionate, double-bind relationship between them. Of course, chaos ensues, but it's mixed with bittersweet feelings and a very interesting plotline. The artwork is also quite to my liking. The characters look sleek and graceful, and Ororon looks like a work of art in his suit. Chiaki is innocently beautiful, I think, but not in the typical kind. Instead, she has a clear, clean-cut look to her, and it complements Ororon's demonic evil. The only problem I have is that some of the characters look very much the same, and I found myself skipping over their names as I got continually tired of them. However, major characters you can't miss, and it's an absolute joy watching their escapades. I'm completely drawn into the story as it progresses, quite violently I must say. Still, even with all the...gore...it has a nice balance between the bloody action and their struggle to find their own place in life. Not to mention, all the politics of Hell and Heaven are quite interesting. Comments, anyone?
Jaganshi
I absolutlely love this manga for all the reasons Cyriel mentioned and more. The characters are stuning and so is the artwork. If the plot was completle trash I'd probably pick it up just for the artwork. But that is not the case. I haven't been able to get my hands on the second volume just yet but as soon as I get paid it will be one of the first things I buy. And it'll go about the same when the other to volumes come out in August and November.
Annie
This manga has got to be my favorite out there, that I've read so far. The characters are very well built and the idea of the manga's story line is awesome. The style of drawing is something I've never seen in any other manga. It's modern and abstract, yet shows the character's emotions to a sharp point. I'll give you a small, basic idea of the story. However, I won't give too much because it would ruin it for you ^_^ The manga is about the King of Devils (Ororon) and an arc angel crossbreed (Chiaki). The two meet and fall in love. They battle demons that have come to kill Ororon. And being the sweet, passive angel she is, Chiaki struggles to cope with the fact that Ororon has to kill as well. The two are complete opposites, but have one thing in common, love. The more that single factor grows, the harder it is for them to be with eachother. Will Chiaki ever accept that Ororon has to kill to survive? Who knows, I'm reading it ^_^ So far, there are only 2 volumes out in the US, and I have both. A manga I definately would like to give props to. Totally, check it out.
