Dan Rugh
I searched to see if there was a thread on this Gainax series since I have been too busy with work to come to OB anymore and... no thread!!! For some reason, not a lot of people are watching this. It's a real shame because Kono Mini is a really great series. The 12th and final episode just recently aired and it ended a bit unexpectedly for me. T_T Well, I'm going to tell you all about the series so you might become interested enough to download the batch files on gotwoot. Kono Minikuku Mo Utsukushii Sekai translates to "This Ugly and Beautiful World" and follows the story of Takemoto Takeru and several friends who work together at Takeru's Uncle's business. One night Takeru and Ryou find a girl in a coccoon of light stuck in a tree. He names her Hikari (... it means "light") and brings her home with him. It turns out that no one, not even Hikari herself, knows who she is, where she came from, or why giant monsters continue to attack her. Most of the episodes follow Takeru showing Hikari what it's like on Earth and him protecting her from monsters with his newfound transforming ability. As another young girl appears in the woods, the group begins to wonder what their reasons are for being here. Hmmmmmm.... Watch Kono Minikuku Mo Utsukushii Sekai! If you saw a few episodes and got turned away because of the fan service and bits of nudity, give it another chance because there is a really great story mixed in there. You'll definitely get attached to the characters in this anime, at least. I'm hoping for a sequel. :)
Okita
I actually did saw the first episode for this series, but got turn off by the very 'onegai sensei' feel of it, the series looks so much like a no brainer bump & rump that I burnt it to disk and forgot all about it... I currently have all of AKeep's sub for the series, but don't plan to watch it soon. Your comment have intrgue me somewhat, so i might give this series another go, but it's first impression wasn't very impressive, and made doubly worse because I just finish watching the first episode of Yumeria and was dying from tooth decay.... Hittokiri Zero
I tried watching the first episode of this series yesterday but it hurt... I had to try to force myself to keep watching this series. Well to be honest I didn't even watch the entire first episode I just stopped that's how painful the series was becoming. The plot and what not just did not seem the least bit motivating. After I pump myself up on caffine again I'll probably force myself to sit through the first couple of episodes but if I don't like the series anymore then i'm not sure what i'm going to do (it's kind of odd actually... now that I think about it the animation or music wasn't bad, characters were somewhat bland :/ but for whatever reason I wasn't enjoying this series from what I saw of the first episode... maybe it was just the mood I was in >_>' or it could be that Naruto Ball Z is reverting me back into a Dragonball Z fan =X). Dagger
*laughs nervously* Yeah, it would take a lot to make me give this series another shot. I can tolerate certain types of fanservice--for example, The Melody of Oblivion is brimming with shapely women and strongly suggestive camera angles. However, the show as a whole deals with some powerful sexual symbolism, and so the fanservice not only avoids feeling incongruous, but also contributes significantly to MoO's overall atmosphere. I just didn't see that in Kono Mini. The nudity irked me becuase it was random and basically pointless. I couldn't connect with any of the characters, and the artwork wasn't really my type of thing. For a while I felt tempted to continue watching Kono Mini in hopes that its entire cast would die brutally horrible deaths... but sadly I don't think such an event occurs. ;) ~Dagger~

The second half of the series has barely any blatant fan-service like that because it is getting more into the story. I'm not gonna tell you whether or not everyone dies, though. haha
