Ok I'm not here to say Manga is better or Anime is better. I wanna say that both are extremely awesome. Both have there good sides and there bad sides. Manga is black and white. Noe some people dont like black and white pictures, for me personally I am used to black and white and wouldn't have it any other way. Anime, almost all the time comes from a manga already made. Anime is just going to another level. Most producers add their own twists and change the plot a little, so even if you read the manga there might be some changes and things you might not expect. I love reading manga and watching anime its one of the things I like doing. Most of my friends think anime and manga is stupid and think I'm weird with a few of my other friends who like manga. But like hell I care what they think.

This is a tough descision for me. Hmmm....well anime is good because if you dont have a great imagination then well here you go. Also if your into action i mean..the fighting scenes wont be as great in the manga because its black and white and no moving motion. Manga is good because well...its good fro you to read :animeswea Also when you read manga it lasts longer and sometimes the series go longer example Love Hina. In the anime...they didnt show where they got married and in the manga they did. so..tough call :animecry:

Actually for me it depends. I usually like the manga because its the original story, meaning less fillers, usually less plot-holes, and the art is usually more to my taste. Plus, I like to imagine how the characters will sound and with the anime, I might not like their voices. For example, with Full Moon wo Sagashite, the manga story is much sweeter and more touching. It delves more into all of the characters' background story where the anime only tells us about Takuto's and Mitsuki's. But then Takuto's story is a lot more emotional in the manga, and to go along with the art... Its a lot better.

However, with anime, the music really adds more atmosphere and more feeling. I love that aspect of it. For example, Cowboy Bebop with the music just... doesn't seem like Cowboy Bebop to me. Its also easier to understand whats going on whereas in manga, its sometimes difficult. Its also nice to hear how a character really expresses something. (And I agree with dubs... I don't mind them, granted its not 4kids or earlier Funimation. Or Nelvana. Its a lot easier to listen and watch, rather than listen, read, and watch.) I mean, One Piece is a lot more fun to watch than read. (The sub at least. 4kids really screwed it up.)

So I'm also one fo those who don't mind either one. They each have their advantages. I'd probably buy the manga though because it costs less and its easier to flip through to view the art. >P

I'm partial to manga. Many of the series I enjoy that have been made into anime (Fruits Basket, Rurouni Kenshin) don't come on TV often enough. Even when Kenshin does air, I rarely get to see it because I'm very absentminded. I like the dubbed versions better than the subbed, but the voice actors in a lot are so idiotic, I can't stand watching one for too long (.hack//LOTB, Shaman King). And some manga I like haven't been made into an anime yet (Naruto). Then there's the name change factor. Why would Monkey D. Luffy be Ruffy? That seems pretty dumb. I can't watch anime in school, as I can read manga while I'm done with (or apathetic towards) my schoolwork. Most manga is cheaper than anime, too, so it suits my jobless teenager budget perfectly.

However, some of my favorite anime don't have manga (at least available to me), like .hack//SIGN, Geneshaft, and Read or Die. In this case, I can just purchase DVDs.

Er, right. Blah.

tough choice, if i really had to make a choice, i prefer manga over the anime because the manga is much more detailed than anime. and some animes storyline may be different from the manga.

One such good example is samurai deeper kyo. i like the manga very much. its very detailed and it covers alot of characters.

The anime was very dissapointing. it ended on 26 epsiodes. quite a number of characters in the manga never appeared in the anime.. and the storyline is quite different from the manga, actually its crap for those who had watch samurai deeper kyo anime and had read the manga. Luckily The manga is still on going :animesmil

I see what every one means, but look at these pictures, they are oh my goddess, the first ones manga and the seconds anime, look at the art work:

i really enjoy watching anime. i know that the manga is truly how its meant to be in terms of storyline but i think the anime is more appealing. i cant imagine going through the series im watching right now by reading the manga. two big titles in my mind right now are Naruto and Beck. naruto does such a nice job hitting all the emotions that humans possess.

in naruto i laugh, cry, get angry, etc. this is because watching the characters interact with great voice acting and excellent music delievers such an amazing experience. the sad flashbacks with the piano music totally makes me care about what each and every character has been through (cuz it pretty much happens to everyone).

Beck is all about music and the anime did such a nice job. the band plays really good songs and i love it whenever Koyuki sings. his songs are really such a nice thing to listen to that and reading the manga doesnt deliver that experience. thats it for now!

anime is definitely more "showy" for lack of a better word, if you asked a normal person, they'd most likely go for the one on tv, people just expect to be better, but I don't really think thats the case, the manga stories are awesome, and unless you spend tons of money on anime DVD's you can't watch it all the time, but manga is always there, even so, its still a tie for me, each has its pro's and con's, and I don't really think I could choose if I had to, cause I'd enjoy one, but miss the other :(

First off, I've always been more of a book person anyways.

Second off, most of the time, the manga is the original work as the creator intended. Anime may get censored to appear on Japanese TV.

Third, I see manga as having more variety in their art styles.

So I *usually* prefer the manga over the naime, but that doesn't mean I dislike anime. As someone else said, the movement and the voicing give the characters personality. :animesmil

umm....that is a toughie...I've found to like both alot.

I like mangas because they are cheap, tell alot of the story, and can be bought relatively easy (my borders is loaded with mangas)...and if you want to try out a series...manga is the best place to go. you can tell by the first book (as oppose to the first or second DVD) and it only cost $10 if you ended up not liking it (as oppose to $25 for a DVD)

animes: are beautiful. You see the action better (I still can't read action in mangas...i do it all wrong...and animated versions of those fights make me realize that ) the characters have color and voice.

I have more manga than anime (because of my income) but I tend to like to watch the anime if given a choice.

I do have an order...I have to read the manga first before the anime....and not the other way around. When they repeat things that were boring to wade thru the first time....I am more tolerant to resee them in animated form...than reread them thru a manga....hence I tend to skip alot of the manga and feel jipped.

For the cheaper part (manga) i wanted to say something, as internet has been a widely spread tool being used in daily life, i believe animes became much cheaper to get. I can buy the complete series for 12-20dollars in DVD format (which makes 24-38 episodes) whereas i buy a manga (a single book) for at least 4 or 5 dollars.

It's kinda either/or, because with the Manga, it gives you straight info and facts. While with th Anime, you can see the stuff live, instead of veiwing it in a book. But Anime usually has alot of plotholes. So that's a downside.

I prefer manga over anime. One, manga is cheaper. I think the most expensive manga I bought was $12. Two, you get a more in-depth story from manga. There is so much happening within the story, that anime, sadly, leaves a lot out.

I think manga has more complicated plot which at times can't be shown in anime because of the visuals. But anime is much more fun because you can actually see what the characters react animated which is awesome. I think I like both and can't really decide on whether I prefer one from the other

Well i don't really know.I don't want to say manga because I've read more mmanga than I've seen anime.Let me refraise that Ive read more manga series than aniem series.I usually stick to the manga when the anime is no different becaus I ohaven't bought a DVD yet.I plan on getting Magic Knight Rayearth and Read or Die the Series though.I guess if I had to choose I'd say manga because the manga tends to stay the same and not wear out as bad as long as you take care of it and it doesn't matter how many times you read it because sometime VHS and DVD's wear out after extensive use.

i probably would read far more manga than i currently do if i had oodles of cash. i mean, w/o a constant source of income, and a high dislike of being broke, i'd rather watch fansubs! but i've read all the naruto manga there is available to me and i think i enjoy it alot more than the anime. but yu yu hakusho, one of my fav animes, just wasnt all that great of a manga, even though i didnt read too much of it. and i love the full metal alchemist manga and anime on pretty even levels, well maybe i like the manga more...oh well i just like ed!!! DAISUKE!!! :animesmil

it's really impossible to say one is better than the other. just like it's impossible to say blond hair is better than dark hair or something. there's too many virtues and vices to each.

I prefer manga over anime. With a lot of animes, they don't show many parts of the manga that I liked and things tend to be out of order. The manga is how the mangaka originally wanted their work to be and making them into animes can change the whole feeling. take for example Ceres: Celestial Legend (Ayashi no Ceres). In the manga, Shuro is one of the main characters. She is in many volumes and becomes good friends with Aya. In the anime, Aya meets Shuro in one episode and she dies in that SAME EPISODE. It's...disgusting. Really.
Fruits Basket is another example. Well, my example is a spoiler...so...I won't say it...I'll just say the manga reveals something about Akito that the anime doesn't. It's something rather important, too. Also, two characters who are members of the zodiac (the horse and the rooster) aren't in the anime. I found that odd. How can they completely cut out 2 characters, expecially, ones of the zodiac...?
And DNAngel is yet another example. The anime took parts of the manga and rearranged them in completely different orders. I hate that anime with a passion. I love the manga.
I also like manga better because you can hear their voices in your head and their voices sound like whatever you think fits their personailty. If you read a manga and then watch the anime their voices are probably a lot different and well i don't like that IMO. Example: Yuki from Fruits Basket. In the Japanese anime he...well, if I didn't know it was Yuki I'd say it was a woman. It's...terribly feminine. In the english version it's more man-like (Eric Vale ^_~) but it sounds sort of monotonous.
Manga's draw the story out more than the animes do. Sure they are longer and take more time to finish but they are also a lot better. There are many volumes of Ceres: Celestial Legend that are completely cut from the anime. I can't remember which volumes but the one about the white dog and such is not in the anime at all. It makes me really mad to see important parts of a story cut out of the anime.
Also, most English voice acting sucks arse. And watching them in Japanese is a pain because if you blink you miss what someone says.
The art in manga is always more beautiful than in the anime. Take Kyou Sohma from Fruits Basket for example. He looks a lot better and a lot more detailed in the Manga than the anime.
Plus, you can take manga with you everywhere you go. Can you take a DVD player everywhere you go? (Well, maybe if you have a portable one, but shh!)
And so goes my wonderful explanation of why manga is better than anime.
^o^
