egutsu
Id prefer both manga/anime. I think both of them have different ways of explaining the story .Sometimes the manga has more details than the anime .Like the hellsing manga. The hellsing manga has things that the anime doesnt have and explains more of the story. But i think anime is good too because you can see the characters in action and not motionless like in the manga .So the animes give it more life too it. Guest Kai Lover
i would have to say manga. one is that i think that i gvies you more info then the story line. and i also think that the manga is easyer to understand. in most of the anime i watched there are many charaters and sometimes it will show one for a long time then out of noway a different one. there is also less to an anime. the one anime i watch doesn't show as much as the manga of it does. it only show half of the charaters that are importint to the story. Guest Beyblade Master
I Choose Manga. For one, Manga doesn't leave anything out, it's the orignal deal. Anime is something Manga puts into TV, and they make it edited and they leave out alot of material. Plus Anime makes uncut versions expensive to buy. Manga you can have on you at all times and read what you want when you want. People have their own opinons, but I like Manga better then Anime. :animeswea
Guest Cyclone Windz
I like them both. Manga because it's the real deal. Nothing left out. Anime because everything is detailed. The fight look more realistic than in the manga. If I must choose, It would have to be manga. :animestun
randalion
I would say it goes both ways depending on the manga or anime you are refering to. Like a show i watch called Hellsing, but before i learned of the show i came acroos the manga, it barely says anything and the art was just so wild! So you dont even know whats going on, but of course the show clarified it all and i turned out buying the manga with all those wild pictures and and enjoyed it because i then knew the story. Same thing with manga, it can clarify what the show is trying to say. :animesmil
Guest juzzam
I think it depends on the series. Example 1 I watched Naruto and thought it was terrible, but the other day I decided to give it another go and bought the manga. I love the manga but hate the anime. (same with Trigun) Example 2 When I bought the Naruto manga I also bought some bebop manga. This one was the other way round. Cowboy Bebop just doesnt work aswell in manga form as the anime version. (I personally think its because it didnt have music which is a big part of the series) If I had too choose Id have to go for manga, for reasons people have already posted. elflord9d
Depends on the series. Usually the manga though.
MeianHakasawa
I like both... it really depends on the series. Like the if the dubs or subs suck or whatnot. or If the manga isn't drawn nicely but the anime makes it more outlined or something *hintInuyashahint* Umm... But I guess I'm an overall Manga fan, just b/c the series I really really like and am attached to are just mangas and haven't been made into animes. (Which hurts my feelings!! You mean people you don't want produce them as animes!!!) jk hehe
Darker Alucard
I'm Sorry if i copy anyone because i only read page one passed my look on 5 and read page 8. you see animated pictures are funnier to watch than BD, but the again you got to see anime is based on manga series. besides Black an white drawing is better. i got to agree last exile is like the best written and drawn anime series ever. Manga is the heart and soul of japanese designing. it's deeper (and bloodier but thats not a plus nor a minus) i go for manga.
Renegade Minx
Since just about all Animes in America seem to be way over-edited and extremely badly dubbed, I am faced with either the Manga or subbed Anime. It's not that I don't enjoy subbed anime, because I really do. They have moving people instead of just comic frames, which is nice, and I get all the details of the storyline. However, I never was a fan of reading movies. It doesn't suit me. So, a couple months ago, I decided I'd try out Mangas. I borrowed my friend's Chobits set and was totally amazed. The mangas are amazing, and the dubbed Anime seems to take out alot of information, or delay in in some cases. The art in the manga is good enough to rival the graphics of the anime. So, I figured I'd try out a few other mangas--- Imadoki! for example, which I'm not sure if the Anime is avalible in America yet. Yuu Watase wrote it (if the name's familiar, it's because she wrote Fushigi Yuugi and a few others...) and it was a masterpiece. The manga was beautifully drawn and the onomotopeas were thouroughly entertaining. That's something the Animes don't have. I'm sure that when a dubbed version of the anime reaches me, I'll most likely be disappointed as I was with Chobits and Fushigi Yuugi. However, in the case of D.N. Angel, the anime was, somehow, more enjoyable for me than the manga. I'm not sure why, maybe it's because I haven't read the manga in ages, but the anime was really brilliant. There's a few others I'm forgetting that are like D.N. Angel, and since I often lean towards Anime, subbed or dubbed since I'm too lazy to read, I think I perfer that to Mangas. Mangas are amazing, they really are, but for a bum like myself... meh, I dunno... ^^
Master_J
Honestly, I prefer anime (I like to buy the DVDs :D) but I like manga too. Usually if I like a series, I'll read the manga so I can see the difference. I also buy manga if a certain series hasn't been brought to America yet. Starwind
I've always been a more consistent collector of manga personally. It was only later I fell into anime, so I am a little biase. But all in all their aren't any complaints, but given a choice I would always fall back on manga
QuikSilver04
Weeeeell, it depends on the series really. I don't prefer one to the other generally. Manga's good because it can go where ever with you requiring no electronics and sometimes the art's prettier, but anime's cool because it has music and voices :animeswea . I like them both, can't choose :p .

Hayama
Here's my story on the subject: I started out watching anime. Sailor Moon, DBZ, whatever was on TV. Then I saw Kodocha and Evangelion subbed. Then Inuyasha came on TV. So I went out and bought Eva and Inuyasha manga because I already knew I liked them. Then I bought Fushigi Yuugi on a whim. Then I bought some CLAMP stuff. Then my friend bought me Love Hina. Then it snowballed from there and I can safely say I have over 100 manga. (I have heck of a lot of DVD's too... between that and gas money I'm always broke... LOL) Anyway... I've come to the conclusion that I usually like manga better than anime. I love love love the anime, don't get me wrong. It's awesome to hear the voices and music and see everything in colorful action, but there's something about manga. I've been a bookworm since I was a little kid. There's something about the feel of a bound rectangle of paper in your hands... You can read it at your own pace too (which in my case is pretty fast... it pisses my imouto-chan off). A good manga will flow so that slow parts read slow and action packed parts read fast, a flash of well-flowing panels. Another reason is that the manga are USUALLY longer. They usually take a manga of about 20 volumes and make a standard 26 episode anime. Examples: Kare Kano, Fruits Basket... Megami Kohousei (Candidate for Goddess/ Pilot Candidate) is a 12 episoder that's WAY different from the manga. There are some cases where I do like the anime better: Wolf's Rain- it's much longer and more complete as an anime because the anime came first and the manga was sort of an extra project. Evangelion- My favorite anime. The voices are soooo important in this one and the Eva action! Gundam--- whatever (SEED, wing)--- I have read some manga but they really just suplement the anime. Giant robot action is best viewed animated!
Guest oX Ayame Chan X
I def. say anime. But manga sometimes do have the better of the story. Like fruits basket i would pick the manga. animebitch01
-_- //??//?/////?/////........................................... aren't they the same thing, i mean manga and anime are very similiar. and there are different styles of drawing manga/anime (to me it's the same thing.)so don't tell they are drawn different. I'm just started to get into the anime world for a year now (yeh i'm new, so i apologise if i speak from my view :animeswea ) and i can't really judge anime and manga, both are really so similiar but manga started it professions earlier. whether they are anime and manga (same thing), i doesn't matter at least they rock at the graphics combined with plot and the music are just beautiful. they are loads of manga and anime series that are good, but rather i would judge the series of these cartoon then the whole thing, cos if i choose manga or anime, it will be like judging the overall thing (containing both crap and awesome! cartoon) it wouldn't be right to put those good cartoon in the bad section. Starwind
My only real complaint aganist the anime/Manga crossover process (The way in which a manga is turned to anime) is so clumsy sometimes. For example, I'm a fan of the Love Hina manga, yes I'm a guy so laugh it up, but not the anime. It just seems like they try to change it to much sometimes thats my only real grievance. P.S. Naot all anime is based from Manga, sometimes it's the other way around(examle is Neon Genisis Evangelian, if you read the ending commentary to volume one of the manga they mention the series was already half way to completion by the time the manga wa released. Thought you'd want to know.)
Mikako Kazuke
Well I really don't know because if you think about Anime is really good but the Manga is more informative but We dub the version so the quailty is taken away abit.
geekinthecloset
Another big reason that I prefer anime is because I go through manga extremely quickly. I'm a fast, highly visual reader--when the images are provided, I can gobble up an entire series so speedily that it almost feels as though my cash was wasted. So manga and manwha have to hook me with something other than the promise of an interesting plot, because I need them to demonstrate a lot of replay value (in a manner of speaking). Anime generally comes in twenty-three to twenty-five minute episodes, which means I'm guaranteed to get a certain amount of viewing time for the money I paid. Whether or not that time is enjoyable depends on my intelligence as a consumer. ~Dagger~
I have to agree with Dagger, I just run through the manga so fast I feel like " that was about half the price of a dvd, and the dvd would have given me about another hour and a half of entertainment!" While I do enjoy the more extensive plot of manga, I think I can fill in the gap left by the anime! (Does that make sense?) Here's alittle math problem for you... I buy a manga that is 13 vol, say I pay the msrp of $9.99. I finish all those within 6 hours. I buy the anime 4 vol set at lets say $18.00 dollars apiece. It will take 5 hours to watch the anime (that's a definate.) So which is a better deal for my money? Yeah, figure it out now you know my answer... Anime all the way!!
Guest HeavenlyDemonic
Well....this is a pretty hard Question Even though anime is awsome,it leaves out certin parts that you only read in Mangas. but then again,A manga might not make sence. As in anime it makes more sence then it did in the manga.like FLCL for example. In the manga, its pretty hard to actually undertand whats going on. As in the anime, you get whats happening. But Like Full metal Alchemist, there are far better parts in the manga that explains more about there past then the anime....and its shorter then the anime. So for me....manga/anime is a 50/50 for me.
