AppleCore
I found out about this show the other week and I love it, I think it's my new fav. Does anyone else here watch it? Anyway, does anyone know anywhere where I can d/l episodes 3-10 from?
Dagger
I'll let this thread stay open since we have no pre-existing Tokyo Mew Mew topic. However, the next time you start an official series thread, it would be nice if you said more about the show in question (or at least summarized its plot). Be advised that OtakuBoards does not permit linking to fansubs or sites which host them (although there's nothing wrong with mentioning the names of fansub groups), so your request is likely to go unheeded unless you ask someone to private message you with the information. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or one of the other moderators. By the way, that's a really cute banner. :) ~Dagger~
Nwolf
tokyo mew mew :D i'm looking forward to watching this series. I hear it's being dubbed, i think it was 4 kids or funimation. Someone like that, i remember seeing a petition to have them bring it out subbed and dubbed.
AppleCore
Hey Dagger, sorry for not knowing the rules properly. I guess I'll start again. I have only seen the first 2 episodes and am not very good at explaing things but I'll give it my best shot! In Tokyo Mew Mew the world is threatened by aliens which take on the bodies of normal animals and turn them into super killing animals. These aliens what to kill all living things on earth and have it for themselves. A couple of guys set up project mew mew to fight these aliens and recruit 5 girls whose DNA is fused with that of Red Data Animals (endagered species) to give them super powers. :wigout: Hope that description is okay, like I said Im not very good at explaing things. Also I would really like to see more so if anyone knows where I could get hold of them could they please PM me :) I read somewhere that they are making a dubbed version which will be on Fox in america later in the year. Lucky americans :(
Dagger
I read somewhere that they are making a dubbed version which will be on Fox in america later in the year. Lucky americans :(
Like almost anything from 4Kids, the TV version of Tokyo Mew Mew will probably be at best a mixed blessing. ^_^;; This company is infamous for mutilating otherwise decent series: changing plot twists, totally re-writing various episodes' scripts and adding an absurd amount of localization. For a brief period of time, they changed Tokyo Mew Mew's title to Hollywood Mew Mew--but thankfully reneged on that decision. It's anyone's guess as to whether or not the show will receive better treatment than, say, Shaman King or Yu-Gi-Oh. On a side note, thanks for describing Tokyo Mew Mew. ~Dagger~
densuke
TMM is a fairly good-looking mahou shoujo series, but nothing amazing as far as I have seen. I keep thinking I will someday watch past episode 5 or whatever, but I really don't have any compelling reason to do so. One thing I dislike about the show is that it was done by Studio Pierrot. Pierrot's older mahou shoujo offerings were better. Series like Mahou no Magical Star Emi, Magical Angel Creamy Mami and especially Mahou no Stage Fancy Lala were simultaneously more light-hearted and deeper. Fancy Lala is licensed and fansubs of the other two (unlicensed) shows are available. BTW, Tokyo Mew Mew is still being subbed. I am not naming names, but people who want the episodes should just google for them.
AppleCore
Apart from the ones already mentioned made by the same studio what other anime shows are there similar to Tokyo Mew Mew?
densuke
Apart from the ones already mentioned made by the same studio what other anime shows are there similar to Tokyo Mew Mew?
That would be anything listed as mahou shoujo (magical girls) anime. Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura are very well-known; they were broadcast and released on home media in North America. There is currently a Sailor Moon dorama (live-action) series, broadcast and fansubbed since last year. Here are some shows which are unlicensed but fansubbed to a greater or lesser extent: Akazukin Chacha, Ask Dr. Rin!, Full Moon o Sagashite, Hime-chan's Ribbon, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Magical Fairy Persia, Mary Bell, Mermaid Melodi Pitchi Pitchi Pitch, Miracle Girls, (Futari wa) Pretty Cure (there is a thread for this series here in OB Anime Lounge), Super Doll Licca-chan. Lynn Luck
I was looking around the Anime Lounge, and I was surprised that there wasn't a Tokyo Mew Mew thread.Especially since 4Kids' slaughtering it. It's a very good anime compaired to Inu Yasha and such. (Not that I don't like Inu Yasha, it's just way to popular.) Well, I think it's very good atleast. Then again, I've always liked the magical girl genre. And chibis. And cats. ^_^ Anyway, it needed a thread. Oh, and don't call it a Sailor Moon rip-off. It may be very simallier to it, (Especially Sailor Moon R/Season two.) but that doesn't make it a rip. Personally, I like TMM alittle bit more then Sailor Moon, but that's my opinion. Ok, now I'm rambling...

I highly recommend it to people who enjoy the Magical Girl genre and/or cute anime.
BlackTigerGurl
I know I'm going to get hated for this but i have to say it. I think Tokyo Mew Mew reminds me of Sailor Moon. The way they transform and the way "Zoey" acts is kinda similiar to Serrina(sorry if I spelled her name wrong) I still like it only because Sailor Moon is not playing anymore. But I like the comics better than the series. I hate the fact that they changed the names to English instead of keeping them the same. :animesigh: I do think it's a cute anime but still.... ChibiHorsewoman
Ok, I just watched the first episode of the dub MewMew Power. Honestly it wasn't all that bad for a dub that doesn't even have it's original name! They have a Meg in the show, promising. But I can't understand why some dubs insist on changing the names. The show reminds me of SailorMoon. Zoey- the first MewMew girl even has this device that looks nearly identicle to SuperSailorCHibiMoon's Twinkle Bell from SailorMoonSs. scary! So yeah, not bad for a dub, but I can't wait to go and buy a DVD for the original version of it. Tokyo MewMew
Mikako Kazuke
Well I've been watching the dub of the series although I love the Manga better right now. I'm not all into the changing of the names....
xxMissAsukaxx
Well, Tokyo Mew Mew is a very good series when it comes to the manga, but the Anime can not even hold a touch to it.. The Dubbed series is okay. I dislike how they changed the names a lot and didn't stick with the original ones.. Ex) Ichigo becomes Zoey and Masaya Becomes Mark.. But, what can we do?? WHen anime comes to american it does become a bit americanized. I reccommend the original with subtitles!!!

Guest MurdocLuva
I LOVE TOKYO MEW MEW!!! My favorite character is Ichigo. If y'all didn't know, Ichigo means STRAWBERRY in Japanese, which is my favorite fruit. My younger friends (mom's friends with lots of women with young children and I always play with them) and I have a little roleplay of our version of MEW MEW. I am Mew Ichigo. There is even Mew Meron(melon;dna of lemur) and Mew Ringo(apple;DNA of dog)! :catgirl:
Gentle
Well, I'm a cheap person without a job and I have bought a total of one things anime. I've only seen the dub slaughtered version, Mew Mew Power, from 4Kids and I guess, it's a fairly decent show. I'll like close to anything and romances just grab me. After seeing the first episode, I just continued to watch because it reminded me so much of Sailor Moon which was one of my favorite shows when I was younger. The plot is so-so, I haven't really figured out the whole thing yet. I love Renee and Bridget. They're like my two favorite characters. Happily to say, this is the first anime where they're weren't any good main characters that I didn't like. They all have good attitudes that match themselves pretty good. Only one I can't stand is that short Cinaclon. (No clue how to spell that.) Must he forever be talking? The show is pretty alright though. I have yet to miss what has come on so far.
Guest Mew36
I love Tokyo Mew Mew! Except I never watched it. I watch the Englsi hdub, you know Mew Mew Power. It is the same except in English.
Drifting soul
I recently started reading the manga since I don't want to watch the english dub because I don't want to support bad dubbing. I like it a lot since it also has a message about saving the planet and endangered specis- something i'm very interested in. In my opinion it's better than Sailor moon. Also i'm a little confused as to why 4kids decided to dub it. 4kids make kids shows and some of the mew mew's outfits are well.....a little revealing! :animeblus
Guest mewmewgurl
:catgirl: I know a little bit about Berry from Tokyo Mew Mew a la Mode, but can someone tell me more about her? Thanks! :animesmil I wanna kno if anyone here didn't like the ending to ep. 52? Cause I think it was a little evil how they left it off like that!I hope they put a la mode on tv! I'll be quit now... :animeswea
