A scream echoed in the still halls of the ancient temple. A beautiful young woman ran into the holy room, with a dark entity in close pursuit. The dark force sneered, "Young Endela, you are foolish to believe you can possibly stand against me". Endela ran in front of magical barrier and began to chant. A white light enveloped her and a holy aura filled the room, ?You do not scare me Rinaro", she glared at the beast, ?if you are to get the Light Gem of Fazon you must get through me and my allies!" The room flooded with energy and creatures of light appeared to aid Endela. The creatures dashed forward at Rinaro from all directions. Rinaro uttered a sentence in the dark language and creatures were obliterated by a wave of darkness. Rinaro began drifting towards Endela, a look of satisfaction and victory dancing in his eyes, ?Such futile efforts, Endela. You know that I am the dark spirit. You know I am the controller of the shadows. Yet you are ever so persistent. No matter, I will take the Gem into my possession and your pathetic crusade against my legion of dark knights and I will have been in vain". He grinned and then lunged towards Endela, impaling her with his claws. Endela screamed in pain, but Rinaro took no notice and continued talking," But... if you kindly hand over the Gem from that magical barrier...maybe I'll spare your life. Maybe". Endela winced in pain and grabbed the Gem," Heh,heh...Rinaro, you want this Gem badly don't you?" she looked at him mockingly. Rinaro became confused and stared quizically,"Do you jest? Of course I want the Gem of light. For then, and only then I can bring my dark forces into Fazon." Endela nodded and smiled sweetly, staring down at the Gem in her hand. Rinaro suddenly caught on," What are you....no, do not harm it!!" His plead was not headed for at that second Endela smashed the Gem into 16 pieces and with the last of her strength, scattered them to the furthest reaches of Fazon. "Now you will never posses the Gem of Light--" her sentence was cut short as Rinaro split her body in half. He grumbled under his breath and flew off into the night sky.

Elsewhere....

A gathering was being held for the Elders of Fazon. The Elders had been discussing the threat Rinaro passed in the Room of the Mystics, when a dark aura settled upon them. The High Elder, Gantra, placed his head in his hands, overcome with grief. Another elder, Turoway, stood up and and frantically yelled at Gantra, ?High Elder! That horrid feeling just now, what was that?!?" Gantra raised his head, his eyes filled with sorrow, ?The life force of Endela, our beloved Gem Defender, had faded from this world and gone on to the next. Rinaro can be held responsible for this foul deed". The Elders stirred and began talking amongst themselves. Gantra cleared his throat and the room fell silent, ?But do not fret, for not all is lost. Though Rinaro has taken away one dear to us, Endela would not succumb to him even in her dying moments. Before her life was taken she managed to crush the Light Gem and scatter it's pieces--" A roar of outrage escaped another Elder, Noryu,"You speak of this as if it were something to celebrate! The Light and Holy Gems have always kept the dark forces out of Fazon. Now that the Light Gem has been shattered, the Holy Gem's power will deplete in a matter of days. Then what will become of us?" Gantra sighed, then shook his head,"Noryu, Noryu. You speak in anger and you allow that anger to blind you. She saved us by crushing that Gem. Had Rinaro gained possession of it his powers would have doubled, and we'd be powerless to his will. As long as we retrieve the shards of that Gem before Rinaro does we should be fine". He stood up and walked towards a box with ancient symbols engraved upon it, ?Since we must stay and channel our own energy into the Holy Gem, we must give these other Gems to warriors of great skill. I have decided the perfect way too...we shall hold tournaments for great warriors to come from all over and compete. Let us make haste, for there is not a minute to spare..."

And far away the dark spirit, Rinaro, smiled,".....a tournament....two can play that game..."

Lance was walking along the streets of the city. He was looking for a cheap inn to stay in, for his pouch of gold coins mysteriously vanished into the night."Damn, petty theives", he growled under his breath," When I found out who stole my money---" He held out his hand as rain began to fall."Great. If only I hadn't been downing all that beer at the city's pub. I woulda' noticed some one stealin' my gold if I was sober...." He began recalling the earlier events of the day.

He had just wandered into this town when he decided to go for a drink. Everyone in town recommended the local pub located at the west of the city. He ran into some pretty suspicous locals along the way who seemed to follow him around, but he took no notice of it. Once he made it to the pub he ordered a beer and flirted with the waitresses. He was really hitting it off with one of the girls, so he figured it was his lucky day and that a few more beers wouldn't hurt. After a while he blacked out, and when he awoke he was face down on the street and his pouch containing his gold was gone.

He stopped beating himself up over earlier events and noticed he was standing in front of two signs, indicating the start of tournaments. One was the Elder's Battle Arena and the other was Rinaro's Brutality Competition. The tournaments would both be divided into seperate competitions featuring two preliminary rounds, than three rounds in the tournament. Hmmm....Lance looked over the flyer. A certain sentence caught his eye.The prize is....50,000 gold coins and another mystery object if you compete in the Elder's competition!! Who cares about the mystery object, but with that amount of gold I can get an inn anywhere! I can buy as much beer as I want! I can start my voyages as a treasure hunter again! I'm definitley signing up to that one He grinned to himself and memorized the site where it would be held,City hall of Baron....tommorow. With that he decided to just grab the flyer and walked off towards City Hall.

OOC: Alright, your first post can be devised any way you'd like, but you must either hear of the tournament or read about it somewhere. Depending on what Gem you have you'll sign up to either the Elder's or Rinaro's competition. Mage, Speed, and Spirit Gems you go to the Elder's Competition. Soldier, Armor, Flight and Dread go to Rinaro's competition. Rinaro's will be held on the desolated island Naratorina. The tournaments are broken up into four different parts. Each different part is based on the Gems. Ex: The Elder's competition will have the Rune tournament, Mage tournament, and so on and so forth. Just to clarify if you get a Gem from the Elder's your good, get one from Rinaro your bad. But during the RPG you can switch sides. By the end I hope to have eveyone be a "good guy"

"It's alright Raziel, here, take this." Fu Man-Chu held out some paralasis pills for his friend to take. "I know you hate them but it will stop the pain for awhile." He was doing everything he possibly could. As soon as things started to look better for Raziel, they only worstened. Fu was starting to lose faith in how much longer his only friend could hold on.

No, I won't give up, never. Not after all we've been through. Fu felt the tears coming on, but he held them back. He had known Raziel all his long life and he planned on living the rest of it with him. Raziel was his life, and without him Fu would simply cease to be. But he had to do something. He had to get the Dragon's Eye somehow. Why does He have to have it of all people? That bastard knows I won't ever have that kind of money. I should have killed him when I had the chance. But I can't because.....because of my oath. Fu had made an oath at an early age to never kill anybody. He had witnessed the death of both of his parents when he was only 9, and oddly enough, instead of swearing revenge, he swore to make sure he'd never let other people feel the pain he did.

When Fu said He, he meant of course the famous treasure collector Golga, owner of the Dragon's Eye, the only cure for Raziel's disease. But Golga said he would only sell the Dragon's Eye for no less than 40,000 gold. And nobody had that kind of money. I would do anything for that money!!!

"Anything?", bellowed a mysterious voice out of nowhere. Fu spun around from his tending to Raziel only to see what seemed like nothing more than a shadow. It soon rose up from the ground and took the form of a human-shaped figure in a completely black robe, with the face covered by the hood.
"Who are you?!", Fu yelled with both anger and fear at the same time.
"Who I am is of no concern to you, all that matters is what I am offering. I know of a way you can get the money you need, and much more."
"And why should I trust you?"
"Considering the situation you are in, you don't have a choice but to trust me. Now listen, and listen closely. There is a fighting tournament being held on Naratorina Island, not too far from here. There is a cash prize of 50,000 gold if you come in first place, which should be no problem for a man of your skill. It is being held by the great Rinaro, who I'm sure you've heard of. All you have to do is show up there in one week and you will be entered. Good luck to you....." And with that the shadow disappeared into the ground without a trace.

"Alright Raziel, I have to go away for awhile, I'm entering a tournament. If I win I will get what I need to help you." Raziel bowed his head with approval. "There is plenty of food left on the island, so you will be fine by yourself. If the pain becomes too unbearable, then take one of these." Fu Man-Chu set the rest of the paralasis pills near Raziel. He then hugged the large red neck of his dragon friend, and set off for Naratorina Island in his trusty row boat. He waved once more to Raziel as he set off for the voyage ahead.

OOC: The guy that told me about the tournament is one of Rinaro's "Shadow Messengers." There will be much more of these if it's alright by Yotska.

Tara walked through the forest on the night of a full moon; she was happy to be away from the public. She was confident that there would be no werewolves around... All around, she occasionally saw glowing eyes, but that didn't seem to bother her. To test things out, she muttered something and placed her hand on the trunk of a nearby tree. She closed her eyes then opened them again, and as she walked away, the tree gave way and fell over. She then smiled, thinking she was well-prepared for anything that would come her way.

But a few minutes later, the moonlight falling on the forest started to dim... Tara shrugged, thinking it was just a cloud blocking the moon or the trees getting thicker. She once came across an angry wolf, but it magically became paralyzed and fell over, wincing in pain. As she walked on, something caught her attention: the light coming from above started to turn purplish... As Tara looked up, the moon has taken on a mauvish glow... "Lunar eclipse..." she thought as she walked on. But then she heard a shout from above. She looked up and saw the shadow of a man on the moon. For a moment she stood there, confused, but then the shadow grew bigger and nearly landed on top of her. But instead, it snatched her and enclosed her in some sort of bag. Then, she was carried away...

Tara did not scream; instead, she boiled over with rage. But then, something weird happened: the bag she was in caught on fire, and Tara was surprised by this. A hole was quickly burned in the bag, and she managed to jump through it, though she was burned slightly. The shadowy figure stood by her, never speaking. Tara winced and stared at the floor, also silent. Later, a hand was placed on her head, which was tilted up, enabling her to see the faint outline of a large man about twice her height. Finally the man spoke...
"Will you come with me?" At this Tara stared at the man in disbelief, thinking she was going to be kidnapped or something. But then the man picked her up and floated off... He headed across the sea to a desolate island...
"You are truly fit for this competition," the man mentioned to her in a weird, complimentary tone. "I could see it in your eyes..."
"What competition?" Tara asked coldly.
"One held by Rinaro, this evil..."
"I know who he is," Tara interupted.
"Anyways," the man continued, "It's a fighting tournament with a 50,000 gold prize."
"I don't fight," Tara muttered, "and I don't need money."
"You will get a special gem as a prize as well, just like the Light and Holy Gems you may have heard of, except... different." He wanted to say "weaker" instead of "different", but he figured that that would shift Tara's interests away from entering.
Tara said nothing; she thought of this one weird stone she saw once and kept, but then she just shook her head.
"I suppose," the man broke the ice, "that you do have certain powers that will help you in this competition... you are aware of those? What if I told you they will grow stronger with two of these gems?"
"Two?" Tara wondered. "There's two?"
"The gems of Dread and Chaos await..." said the man as he floated off towards the horizon...

"Wait a minute..." Tara thought, "The tournament, of course! I remember, that psychic once told me! I guess she was right! She said... what was it? Oh, it was, 'In six years, you will be beckoned by one of my minions to a great and somewhat dangerous tournament. Win this tournament, and a gem awaits you--a special one like the Light and Holy gems... Go beyond that, and you shall earn a second, and then, a new power is in your hands... I see a dark, catlike creature with your eyes and aura...' Hm... What does it all mean? That was awfully vague... The catlike creature can't be Rinaro; he, she... OK, it, is not a cat. That I know. But wait, what if Rinaro has other forms...? That can't be true, the cat must be a girl like me... Hm..." Tara spent the next few minutes trying to sort it all out, but she didn't succeed...

A shadowed figure approached the great signs, which stood in grandure within the walls of the city. Garbed in a long cloak, the figure's features were shrouded in darkness as he gazed upon the messages written clearly upon each sign. Reaching forward he grazed his fingers across the ink of the sign indicating Rinario's advertisment, only to withdraw his touch suddenly, as if burned. Hesitating, the figure moved to study the sign of the Elders. Grasping his cloak he withdrew the hood away from his head, resting it upon his shoulders. His features were powerful and regal as he studyed the message before him, with a firm set jaw and strong, high cheekbones. He appeared to be slightly aged, though youthful at the same time, giving the man a paradoxical appearance. Dark brows were knitted tightly in concentration and he nodded in what appeared to be satisfaction.

Taking hold of long wooden staff, which he had rested between the two signs he decided to make his way to the town hall, the meting place for what was known as the Elder's tournament. The spirits had told him of this place, and of what he must do. Not only for his own honour, but for the honour of the temple and the praise of the spirits must he venture to this ring and defeat all in fair combat. So it had be spoken, so it should be.
