Strictly Girl Talk

Alright, as if the title doesn't already tell you enough, I really doubt that guys will find anything of minute interest here. Actually, it might make them queasy.:)

So now to business girls.
Anyway, I'm just wondering when and how you were first introduced to the subject of sex. Not only that, but how in the world did you figure out how to use a tampon?(if you use them, that is). And did your parents talk to you about periods? What did you think of your first one?

Alright, hopefully all of this isn't getting too personal...but it just made me wonder sometimes, especially about the tampon thing. Hm..I'm guessing that with sexual education most of us watched a video? Where they then proceeded to hand out boxes of pads? Ugh..shudder. Not that I understood really what that was in the sixth grade anyway - I was quite naive.

Alright, maybe the tampon question is a bit odd for some of you. I mean, how possibly could someone not know how to use one, right? But seriously, it's not like they have directions on the boxes!! I didn't know how to use one until...this year recently, and I'm 16 and going to be a senior in the fall. And I must tell you though, learning about those things was painful, seriously. Sure, maybe I'm an idiot, but how exactly are you supposed to know these things?

Periods - my mom tried to talk to me about it after my friends had told me all the details, like...7th grade? Friends can really open your eyes, eh?;) But no, I learned about periods when I was in the third grade, because while visiting Korea I found some of my aunt's pads, and I asked if they were diapers. Then she talked to me about the whole catching eggs and stuff that falls out every month...but hey, I was ickle.

So yeah, anyone else that would post to keep me company here is quite welcome. Please!

well, i'm a guy so i guess it's different for me, but i started learning most of that stuff when i was around 11. thanks to my friends, overheard bus conversations, and a wonderous thing i like to call basic cable.

and honestly . . . i still don't know how to use a tampon.
and honestly . . . i still don't know how to use a tampon.
I saw them using one on Queer Eye for the Straight guy.But it wasn't how the directions showed from the box.

Besides, you can't use tampons when your pregnant or before your six week appointment.

I learned about sex in a few different ways:

1.) Health class: STDs, AIDS, human gestration period. Oh and why you should wear a condom.

2.) Parents: the birds and the bees, where babies come from and the episode that every child dreads and i won't elaborate on.

3.) Cable TV: Decifering scrambled shows does wonders at your birthday sleep over parties.

4.) Ft. Gordon GA Memorial Day Weekend 2001: Again, I won't elaborate except to say, El bless the USA.

One of my health classes was in 6th grade at a Catholic school and they told us the bare minimum including how everyone should remain abstinant and that sex is actually bad. Probably why I waited until I was 19 almost 20 and I've only been with one guy.

The other one was public school and they handed out condoms. Go figure.

My mom took me to get birth control before the memorial day weekend incident. She's pretty smart about some things I guess. Did that make any sense? Probably not, but it's late.

Well, that's it for now.

yes, hbo was a haven for me when i was entering puberty and starting to experience the effects of hormons, but the point of this thread is about female changes, not male changes.

i went looking in my mom's bathroom to see if there were instructions on the tampon box, but i had seemed to have forgotten that since she had her overies removed, she had no need for tampons. a useless effort. sorry.

I think I got the talk mostly from school and my aunt. My mom left everything to my aunt to explain. And she would. With joy. In front of several of my brothers. Talking about periods, oh fun.

When I got my first period, I asked my mom how many more hours it would last. What a shock I got.

I tried to put in a tampon once... my mom made me cuz we were swimming. I put it in wrong (don't ask) and I haven't tried since. (I had a friend who once put it in the wrong opening... O_o)

PMS sucks. It really does. Please, make it end.

hmm...lets see. when did I learn about sex? was it the third grade?yep third grade..*sighs* I had friends that knew a little more than they should've and they completley just explained it all to me. O.o; WooHoo good for me. Newho, I asked my mom about all of the stuff they told me and she completely freaked! boy..I'm never doing that again!lol

periods......-_-; why r we cursed with such things???I had my first about a year ago, and I'll never forget it..We were in Super Rama( me and mom) and all of a sudden i got a REALLY bad stomache cramp, I bent over and my mom started laughing. I said there wasnt anything funny about it, so she came back with a smart comment "Now, do u remember all of those days u laughed at me??hahaha pay back!" good lord was she right......

tampons...hate em cant stand using them! I had to once cause i was going swimming, and it bothered me the whole time. I didn't even wanna swim...the way i learned?hmm.. I know this may sound gross but I walked in on my best friend once while she was putting it..u know..in her, and she went on and taught me how.good thing cause it really sux to run out of pads!lol :D so yeah...there u go...

but what i dont understand is why girls have to go through all of the pain!! We have to give birth and have periods, but what about guys? basically the worst thing they can get is a hemroid, and maybe B.B. if u dont know what that is, its blue balls, they get really turned on then they dont do anything about it and it hurts them...bad...well thats what my ex boyfriend told me it was,so if im wrong guyz excuse me...

PMSing SUX!!!!! I wanna go on strike against PMSing :cussing: stupid,freaking,moco,periods.....ok im done!

I learned about periods and sex from my mom. We laughed about it, though, mostly because I thought it was so disgusting at the time.

I learned to use tampons from the instructions in the box. They seemed pretty clear to me.

I'm a girl, and I'm grossed out just typing that. :P

Ok, first off, with guys posting in this...I'm kinda disturbed, but hey, moving on.
I learned to use tampons from the instructions in the box.
Where are the instructions? Seriously, I was looking on some boxes, and I can't find any. Thus, my extreme difficulty on learning how to use one. How'd I learn? Several odd trials...and one was painful. When I finally learned correctly, it was at church in the bathrooms, listening to one of my friends explain it to me, and even then it was pretty freakin hard. Not to mention, I was terrified. Some of my friends told me that you could lose your virginity by pushing in a tampon in too much, and that completely scared the crap out of me. Especially since I've heard that losing your virginity hurts, and you bleed. Which wouldn't help my situation if I'm trying to use a tampon in the first place.-_-
The other one was public school and they handed out condoms. Go figure.
They actually handed out condoms to you? I'm amazed. Actually, I didn't even know that they did that at prom either, until this year.

Oh, and does anyone have weird stories about periods? I mean, frankly I think I'm lucky that I actually knew what they were before I had one. Seriously, you have to feel sorry for some people. Take my mom, for instance. I guess in Korea they're really not into talking about that stuff and all...so she didn't get it explained to her. In fact, the first time she had a period, she thought she was dying, and ran out into the street screaming. Then her mom explained it to her. Ah, and when she tried using tampons, she had to go to the hospital because it got stuck in wrong or something...

Which makes me wonder...maybe my own confusion with them is passed to me through my mom.;)

I'm lucky my mum is really open about sex-sometimes too open!!!!!
I learnt about it all at about the age of 5 when my mum gave me an usbourne facts of life picture book and told me to come back if I had any questions and by age 14 she had me practicing putting condomns on bananas!!!!!!!!

Because I go/went to a Catholic school their isn't much focus on sex and womens problems except for science and the one hour talk we got in year 8 by the school nurse. This is probably the reason why my school has the highest teen pregnancy rate in are town

I would say magazine are a good source but they lie. All my teeny bopper mags said that You would not feel your period when you were one and that when you first start it is very light. YEAH RIGHT!!! I always feel it when I'm on especially standing up after sitting down and when i first started I though I was hemmroageing. It didn't help that we hand no sanitary towels in the house so I had to make do with tissue until i got to the shops

Tampons are evil tried to use one but it just wouldn't work. My friends sister's went to the doctor because she had bad stomach cramps and further investigation found that she had a tampon stuck inside her!!!!

Your right, us dudes are lucky. We can pretty much get kicked in the balls and that's it. BTW, Blue Balls is when a guy is about to do it and gets really turned on but ends up not doing it and then theres seminal backup. Your balls don't actually turn blue but I'm sure it still hurts like hell.......

Well, I learned the basics of sex and pregnancy at age 8, from my mother. She, being a nurse, isn't embarassed about it all. I suppose that's how I got my attitude towards it, I'm not embarrassed in the slightest. I learned all the dirty terms, positions, blah blah blah, over the years from various sources. I got my period in 5th grade (sucks to be me), and pretty much used pads from then on. I tried a tampon once, and I really didn't have any trouble figuring out how it got in or anything * o_O; *, but it felt strange so I don't use them often.

I first learned in health class, fifth grade. And yes, the handed out pads and deodorant. lol.

I really don't think there are any directions on some of the tampon boxes either (I know there used to be, but I haven't used them in a long time - I don't like them). Books do really help with using them - that's where my instruction came from. Ever read The care and keeping of you? Yes. Exactly. XD

I used to be really embarrassed to talk about period and sex and stuff, but a whole.entire.marking.period of health will change you quickly. V_v; It was really funny, some of the discussions we would get into at the end of the year (4th MP was when everybody had health).

Oh, BTW:
Especially since I've heard that losing your virginity hurts, and you bleed...[/COLOR']
I don't know if it hurts, I'm still a virgin. :/ but yes, you do bleed. Ever heard of the expression "popping the cherry"? The hymen breaks, and there's some bleeding. (Sorry if that's gross - I'm just trying to be informative).

See what I mean about health class?!? *mumbles loudly* Damn it.

I'd have to say, though, that this health class was the most straightforward. I think it's because I'm now in high school. I mean, come on, who else had those strange, awkward health classes in middle school? Heh.

i don't know about girls, but after a guy has sex his first few times, his balls hurts like ****. i've also heard that during your first time, if you continue after you've finished, you will bleed (guys) but i don't really know.

Especially since I've heard that losing your virginity hurts, and you bleed...
Well, I won't lie, it does hurt a bit. But only the first and second time. And then again after you haven't done it in a while. Oh, and after you have a baby and they've sewn you back up and then after six weeks when your OBGYN give you the green light to have sex again. Of course that last one is only from a book Called Pregnancy Sucks, What to do When your Miracle Makes you Miserable. And my best friend who ever since she lost it seems to tell me some things she would have choked on when we were in High School. And after you've done it a few times again it becomes less painful again. Just stock up on KY Jelly.

I don't know what to tell you about the bleeding myth part of it since I was near the end of my stupid period when I lost it. Now there's a story! Uh..nuh.

I never get really bad cramps during my period...I get them before my period and those are usually no where near as bad as my menstral migrains.

However, If you want to talk pain prior to birth, let me tell you about Braxton hicks. That's the name they give to these cramps or false labor pains you get in the third trimester. Those are enough to make your eyes roll back in your head and wish someone harm.

Giuys get off easy. I've heard that the closest a guy can come to experiancing labor pains is passing a gall stone. Blue balls really can't be all that bad. I mean, there is a cure for that. And it's not that hard to do either. :flaming:

I used to have some modesty when it came to talking about sex, but now I really just have to restrain myself to not go over board. I know Lincoln talks about it a lot. This one guy who's around his age over in Iraq who's also married and has a kid says he should stop talking about wanting it and grow up. Lincoln's reply was. "Call me crazy, but I thought one of the signs of a healthy marriage is to lust after your wife." It's nice to know you're wanted, isn't it?

I never had much modesty talking about my period. Mostly because IU wanted to gross out my brother.

As for the tampon instruction thing:

The intructions are usually included inside the box of tampons.

If you're a first time user I'd suggest trying the playtex gentle glide or the Tampax Pearl. The light days are probably the best to go with as well and so far as I know only tampax makes those.

The first time they will feel a bit odd. The key to knowing you've got it in right is that you don't feel it.

Personally, I prefer tampons to pads because you can swim in them and they don't go all over the place like pads do.

My post is getting a bit long, so I'll wait a while before I discuss some more emberassing stuff like Yeast Infections.

Ok the first time I got my period was in the summer before 4th grade. I was trying on clothes and all of a sudden my stomach started hurting like hell. For days, I didnt tell my mom because well, I dont know I was very ignorant and naive. I guess I didnt tell her because, since I am the only daughter she has she doesnt want me growing up too soon and she's not comfortable telling me about sex or periods. Anyways, at the moment I thought I was really sick or something which later I learned that my mom thought jus the same because her mom didnt tell her what it was so my mom thought it was a disease. She eventually found out (by going through my things and of course washing my clothes and found the stain). She got really worried (she always gets worried) and took me to a doctor. OMG such pain they caused me!!! I had to go through tests and crap. And at first a guy was gonna check what was wrong (in my vagina). I got all scared and crap I was like "I'm not gonna let some perv touch me where the light doesnt shine"!! Eventually they got some woman to (which was really really disturbing)!!! Then they made me get my bladder full so I could do some test and I had to drink LOTS of Gatorade. IT WAS HELL!! I cant tell you how much pain i went through. Then I asked my mom how long I was going to have and then she was like "FOREVER" I was like "nooo I'm cursed for life". Now i have had it for 4 yrs and used to it altough I tend to get in really bad moods at everyone >.<. Later on I learned all the dirty talk (by friends and sleepovers) and of course gossip about these things. Altough to this day I dont plan to push a Tampon in there NEVER!! I cant imagine having anything in there no matter if it moves around or not!! Anyways I got to go I'll explain more later. The terror stories will return...

I'm not really sure if I want to add much to this conversation yet, (it's not that I don't have any stories to tell, I'm still just a little embarrassed about some of them,) but I might put them up later. Right now, I just wanted to say that I can be a very, very mean person. My little sister hasn't really gone through any of that stuff yet, but she's scared to death of it all. Do you want to guess why? Yep, that's right. I couldn't help telling her horror stories about all of this stuff. Like I said, I can be a really mean person. (Don't worry, I'll tell her the truth before she actually goes through some of that stuff.)

I'm not very good at talking about this kind of stuff, when my mum first told me I was nodding, and I hate telling this kind of stuff to other people, heh, so I won't stay much...

I don't really like talking about sex, unless it's the not-so-serious kind. It does get really annoying and embrassing, though I'm a little "preverted" myself. Cloud Strife knows what I mean... poor little (note to Cloud: It's an expression ^_^;; ) guy had to go through my "Annoying, disturbing,Sanity Saving Quotes". It's a strange thing about me, there's no stopping me tell horrible disturbing quotes about certain cartoon characters and certain people, but I won't talk about myself or serious sex.

The lads seriously get it easy, I mean... we always get the annoying stuff and the hard work, and I bet you there are more men in history than women. It's probably correct when you all say the worst thing for them is getting kicking in the nuts, but if it's a really nice person who's like one of those complete good guys (or just nice) and never get kicked in the legs then they have it too easy.

I don't really want to post anything about myself here, because I'm a little.... well you get it anyway. I would post some Annoying, Disturbing, Sanity Saving Quotes, but there's a 50/50 chance I'll get ban for have the stuff I post

first time i learned about sex was maybe.... around pirmary or something like that my friend told me about it but not in full detail (thank god!!) anyways i think im the only person in this thread that actually uses tampons the whole time during the *period time* I find them to be really comfortable. Whenever i wore pads i felt like a was peeing constantly. The think you've gotta look for is the type of tampons (you gurls probably already know this but I'll just say it anyways) there are some that are called biodegratable or have biodegratable applicators whatever you do DON'T GET THOSE!!! They're hell trying to put in, hurts alot. The best ones I'd recommend would be the tampons that have silk written on the box somewear or the tampax compact. I highly recommend the tampax compact. Tampons are great you don't feel like your wearing a diaper you just put it in and get on with your schedule.
