Best Death

Woah. When I first saw the title of this thread, I was like "You sick person! You enjoy deaths?" But cartoon ones? Otay :^D

I'd say that
the Forest Spirit's death in Princess Mononoke was the best. One clean slice of the head and it's gone. But it didn't go out without vengeance. Then again, it didn't really die, did it? I think it just went with the earth. Why not?
But yeah, that was totally zy-zigga!

EDIT: For some reason, the spoiler tags didn't work for me before :( But I was aware of them, mind you ^_^

Best Looking:
Tetsuo
from Akira.

Most Grizzly:
Tetsuo's Girlfreind
in Akira (squish).
The Elder Valentine Brother
in Hellsing (to shreds).
Chapel the Evergreen
in Trigun (suck?).
Kaworu
from Neon Genisis Evangelion (...like a Pez Dispenser).
Gendo Ikari
from NGE (...crunch and munch).
Bernie
from Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in a Pocket (stab and grind).

Most Elegant/Meaningful:
Nicholas D. Wolfwood
in Trigun (...Eden).
Spike Speigel
in Cowboy Bebop (...Bang).
Lala
in Mobile Suit Gundam
(...LALA!!!).

The Oniwaban Group
in Ruroini Kenshin (...Leader!).
Haku
in Naruto (...stabbed).
Bernie
from Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in a Pocket (... see above).
Legato Bluesummers
in Trigun (...do it).

Best Death Ever:
Ron McDougle
in Outlaw Star

Now let me diliberate on this real quick.
The guy was dying slowly through out the series. First starting with the robotic arm, then the robotic body, and then he sacraficed his body for the woman he loved, just so she could run off with Jean.
So that was a pretty good death. But the main reason I choose this is because I cannot come up with a better one. This may be temporary.

Ummm... wouldn't this be in either the TV Section or Anime Section? Oh well I'll post:
Vegeta's: He even said it was for Goku aswell! This was not only moving but... great... the lone cold Saiyan Prince did it for the Earth, and everyone he loved, then blew himself up. It was really great!

Kevin Mask's: I haven't really seen this, but I know it was great. I can't explain much...

Terra's: Right... well TT isn't really anime, but this was one of the greatest death's I ever saw... brilliant.... loved it totally!
I don't have many... because England get's little anime.... damn it!

EDIT: Opps, sorry about not using spoilers Dagger ^_^;;, but thanks for editing the post.

Everyone else, be aware that this post contains spoilers for Dragonball Z and Teen Titans.

Welcome to OtakuBoards, Mider. :) The next time you choose to start a topic, I'd like you to put more thought and effort into your opening post.

I'm rather irritated that none of you used spoiler tags (actually, reading Dragon Warrior's example shouldn't affect a person's enjoyment of Princess Mononoke, so I let it stay as is). It took me quite a while to edit your replies. You're all fairly old members--I'm sure you know how aggravating it is to stumble across the details of a certain anime's biggest plot twists as you innocently skim an interesting-looking thread. Regardless of the circumstances, please, please add spoiler tags whenever you post sensitive information.

I've 'seen' quite a few good deaths in my anime and manga (we can do manga correct?) enjoyment.

Most Tradgic Anime death :

Nuriko
from Fushigi Yugi

I think it was one of the most touching and heart warming as well because he
Died while protecting MIaka from (dammit I forgot that seiyuu seishi's name). Also the night before he actually cut off his braid because he wasn't going to go around dressed like a woman anymore. Therefore he put his sister to rest before he contuinued with his duty as one of the Suzaku seven. In the end, right before he died Nuriko also told Miaka that he loved her. (which may have made some people sick.)
Nuriko's death was so sad that
I ended up crying along with Tasuki and the others.
Most tradgic Manga death

Lethe and Mnemosyne
from SailorMoon Stars

They were two sisters whose
home planet had been destroyed by Choas. Galaxia tricked them and they ended up fighting the senshi. (Eternal Moon, the Starlights Kakyuu and ChibiChibi.) I forget how some of this goes. But one of the sisters tries to convince the other that they shouldn't fight the senshi. Just as they do that Phi and Chi attack Lethe and Mnemosyne killing them. They die holding eachothers hands.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to go get a tissue after those two. :bawl:

Funniest Anime Death

Kaori/ Kaolinite from SailorMoonS

It's probably awful of me to say that this is a funny death, but it was:
One minute she's standing behind professor Tomoe saying all this stuff to him and just gushing over him. The next thing you know Mistress9, proving that Hotaru is somewhat inside her, Strangles Kaori/ Kaolinite with her hair and electrocutes her.

Self Sacrificing manga death which is almost tradgic, but not really

Kikyo from InuYasha (duh)

This death doesn't need spoilers because it's at the begining of the story...unless you've been bad and didn't read the beginning, but why would you do that? Of course,if you haven't bothered to read or watch IY, I'll do the spoilers
Kikyo shoots InuYasha with one of her arrows and pins him to a tree so in a way she kills him. Then she ends up dying as well and takes the jewel with her.
In a way it's not so much self sacrificing as it is giving way to a whole story.

Worst and Stupidest deaths ever.

These deaths have been deemed to be completely avoidable or just plain uninteresting. After I give my examples, others are asked to contribute[/b]

Worst over all manga deaths which happened to one person countless times:

Chiba Mamoru/ Tuxedo Kamen of SailorMoon

I'm convinced that this guy has a sign that says Please Kill me Then Bring me back to life taped on his back that only SailorMoon Villains can see. He died during the Silver Millenium. He died in the Dark Kingdom arc of SailorMoon twice
first he was brought back to life by Queen Metallia then he died and was brought to life by the Guginshu/Silver Crystal.
Then he died twice in the SailorStars Arc
Once when Galaxia stole his star seed then again when she pushed him off a cliff...or maybe that was a fanfic
 either way, his stupid deaths are some of the worst ever.

Stupidest anime death by a female villain

Sailor Lead Crow from SailorStars

Maybe it's just the SailorMoon characters, or maybe it's me. But Lead Crow could have saved herself. Instead she was
Sucked into her own black hole
Stupidest anime death by a male villain

Rubius SailorMoonR

He died when his space ship exploded with him inside. If the guy had just managed to kill off one of the Senshi, maybe Esmuraude would have brought him back with her.

Well, there you have it. Maybe after I read some more manga and anime and remember some more things maybe I'll have some more death for you.

I must agree with ReFlux.
Haku's death in Naruto was not only absolutely beautiful, but so touching! Especially since he had such an effect on Naruto. Naruto couldn't help but voice everything that the audience also must be thinking - how could Zabuza be so cold?!:( Zabuza's demise also added to that event in its entirety, and was one of the most touching ones that I've ever seen.
lol, this is such a funny looking post.

I'd have to go with these.

Reika Meshima-Rahxephon:
Well this was a pretty odd way to die, or disappear or whatever the hell happened to her, but either way I was pretty angry that it had happened because she is a cool character.
Lalah Sun-Mobile Suit Gundam (UC 0079):
Oh hell yes you knew that was coming, but in the english dubbed movie only, omg is it dramatic. I was really depressed about her getting killed and to protect both Amuro and Char from each other, though I think that if she had known that if those two would continue to fight each other until they day they died like the way they did I'm sure she wouldn't have done that. Btu I'd have to say the conversation she and Amuro had while the gundam and her Mobile Armor seemed frozen was very gripping.
Dr. Mikimura- Mobile Fighter G-Gundam:
Personally I never saw that one coming and I really didn't think he deserved to die that way, especially since he was only trying to protect his daughter.
Kyoji Kasshu/Schwarz Buder- Mobile Fighter G-Gundam:
One in the same but still the last moment when Schwarz begged Domon to use the God finger to destroy both him and Kyoji along with the Devil Gundam and it happened, it was really sad just to see them die like that. I really had hoped that Kyoji could have been rescued.
Master Asia from Mobile Fighter G-Gundam:
Jeez, I really liked him, the fight that had happened was really awesome and dramatic but Master's death was even more so than the fight. At first one had wondered if he was actually under the Devil Gundam's control but once he was on death's door he revealed that he in fact was under his own free will, again I emphasize it was a sad death but majestic.
Gonna be a lot of spoiler tags....*groans*

TRIGUN/
Legato: just the way Vash did it kinda made me feel sad for him. kind of like he is relasing Legato's pain. But Vash had to do it to protect Milly and Meryl
COWBOY BEBOP/
Spike Spegiel: That just really p'oed me. That got me SO angry. But when the birds flew by, that was pretty
NARUTO/
Zabuza: That was a cool way to go out. The thing that touched me was the snow falling when he was laying there
TRIGUN/
Knives: That gave me release. I've been waithing all this time for Vash to confront his uber-sadistic brother and all his Hitler-esque "planetwide genocide" (hey, that rhymes!) stuff and just blow him away with the Angel Arm. But, he used Wolfwood's gun, and thats A-OK with me ;)
TRIGUN (again, yes)/
Wolfwood: *sniffle* He was bleeding all over and praying and leaning against his gun and then he was thinking about Milly and his child and Vash and Meryl and how he wants to go to paradise with them all and*sniffle* WAAAAAAAAH! It was soooo sad! I balled my eyes out! And he finally got the apple!
And he said it was delicious!
AKIRA/
Tetsuo: Weird. Just weird. I...I dont understand it.
Hey iggypopD, in Trigun
Knives didn't necessarily die. No fatal shot was made in the first place, Vash merely shot him in a spot where he wouldn't be able to move his limbs. It is still very possible Knives is alive. Aswell, Vash said he would "Save Knives", which may have meant to kill him, but more than likely show him the way to the light and a better life. So unless he is shot in the head, I'm not buying his dead (aswell seeing as how much injury Vash has put up with, I doubt for bullets to unlethal spots will put him out of it).
And now you know.

Oh, and sorry about not posting spoiler tags, Dagger. I assumed that the nature of the thread was warning enough. My bad.

Death with the greatest meaning:

Anyone, in Grave of The Fireflies:
None of the deaths in this movie were unique, or interesting, but they certainly had the most powerful meaning behind them that any anime had. There was no good-evil relation to the deaths, and nothing that got close to a glamorous death (like Spike in Cowboy Bebop). Only the truth, and the horrors of World War II. No other anime has ever hit that close to reality.
Most lingering death:

Mirielle's family, from Noir:
This is one death that comes back to haunt the main charaters, and the viewers at the same time. Most episodes contain a short glimps of their deaths, which contines to become longer each time, until the final revelation about it is reached around episode 17 (I think that is the right one). Plus it has that link to the pocke twatche's song, which is often the trigger of the flashbacks.
Best overall death:

Spike, from Cowboy Bebop:
What can I say, this is just an awesome death. What could be more fun then punting a live grenade into a tower lobby, followed by the twenty story shootout, and ending with a double death?
Two more deaths that I feel I have to address because nobody else has are the lovely anime deaths of Zoisite and Kunzite from Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. I'm warning you this has two big fat discriptive spoilers.

Zoisite's was a combination of tradgic and just plain beautiful.
After Beryl had shot him with a blast of energy he ended up in some other area with Kunzite. He was laying on this slab of rock and leaning back on Kunzite. Then he asks Kunzite to do him one favor. Kunzute says 'anything.' Zoisite says: I want to die pretty. So Kunzite makes this field of flowers appear and Zoi sighs and dies in his lover's arms.
That one was so sad I cried during both the DiC and the original version. and it was then that I decided I really didn't like Tuxedo Kamen
After all Beryl did attack Zoisite because he tried to kill Tuxedo Kamen. What a waste
Kunzite well...that death was a bit I don't know how to describe it too well, but let me try to do the best I can. I'd say his death was a combination of comic and touching.
The reason I say it was comical was because he was killed by his own attack. His energy boomerangs were flung back at him by SailorMoon, one got stuck in him and he ended up dying.

Now if all he had done was die right there without something endearing to say this death would have been resigned to go down with Rubius. However, right before he died and was sucked into a black hole or whatever Kunzite cried out: Zoisite, lead me to the place where your spirit rests!. That's why his death ended up as being touching as well.
Okay so I didn't cry over Kunzite's death, but maybe I would have.
If he didn't in effect get killed by the senshi. Okay, just SailorMoon after making a big speech about how he was going to kill them.
You know this is going to be another strange looking post

 • 3 weeks later...
My favorite death was probably Raditz and Goku (kind of) in dragonball. This was when Goku held him still and Piccolo fired the new attack that he had never used and took out both of them.
That was good and set the stage for everything else.

Okay, for me,
Legato's death was the best. He was the epitomy of evil, and while most people would be relieved to know he was dead, let alone make him pay themself, Vash was put into a situation where his morals were on the line, and everything he strived to be and thought he was, vanished from his mind with the pull of a trigger. I don't think any death scene was as powerful as this one.
Thanks for colouring the text so as not to spoil it for anyone, but there is a straight
tag to make things easier ^_~ -Solo

The saddest in anime series is in X the TV series.
In the last episode Kamui gets kill by Fuma/other Kamui because Kamui save Tokyo from destraction by Fuma/other Kamui and the others with his life. :( That is one of the saddest death and ending I ever saw in anime. Also I cry alot at the end of the series because Kamui died and I thought the series was the same as the movie but it isn't. It is alot different from the movie.:) But I still like both the tv series and the movie alot.:)
In the movie
everyone but Kamui dies in the movie.:( Well at the end of the movie Kamui kills Fuma/other Kamui by cutting off his head on Tokyo tower crying:( . But everyone in the on Kamui team dies except him:( and everyone on Fuma/other Kamui dies too and everyone in Tokyo dies too.:( It's sad that Kamui is all alone don't you think.:( I do.
FEEL FREE TO PM IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT X THE TV SERIES OR THE MOVIE, YOU CAN ASK ME. When he died, a little part of me died too.
Added
tags. Please be careful when revealing the end of a series, even if you might not think it to be a spoiler.

And please try and add a little more detail to your posts- this is very short. -Solo

2 deaths I feel were cool were in Cowboy Bebop and Ninja Scroll.
In the Cowboy Bewbop episode Peirrot La Fou I thought it was hilarious that the psyco demented guy was killed by the giant animatronic bear that stepped on him.
In Ninja Scroll I thought that the first guy they encountered and killed by impailing him with his own weapon was awsome.

Another sad death I saw in anime was in "The Dog of Flanders."
It all started right after Nello Grandfather die of old age or he got sick. Then Nello gets accuse of setting the windmill on fire (which he didn't do it). Next Nello loses his job as a milk carrier and now Nello and Patrash(Nello's dog) have no money for food, so Nello last hope for surivival is the prize money from an art contest, but Nello loss the art contest to a rich boy. :flaming: Now Nello and Patrash wonder to Mr.Coset's house and they find money in the snow which belong to Mr.Coset(he's one the people who accuse Nello for setting the windmill on fire and he's not very nice to Nello throughout the movie). So Nello return the money to Mrs.Coset becuse Mr.Coset was out in the snow looking for his money he drop. Mrs.Coset thank Nello for returning the money to them and Nello leaves their house and goes off to try find shetter becuse Nello loss his house (he couldn't keep up the rent(Nello loss his job and his Grandfather die). Last Nello and Patrash goes in a church and fell asleep in front of Ruben's last painting and both Nello and Patrash die of hypothemia.:( After watching this movie I cry for alot, it is really sad movie and I hope everyone could watch this movie and fell sorry for Nello's family, I do.:(
I think in my opinion this movie is one of the greatest movie I ever saw. :) FEEL FREE TO PM IF ANY QUESTIONS ON THE DOG OF FLANDERS, YOU CAN ASK ME.
