"There are heroes all around us; we just need to know where to look."

Basic Plot
The year is 1967 and in the bustling town of Key City, justice always prevails. It's resident league of superheroes, The Guardians have been successfully protecting it from criminals, super-villains and alien invasions for nearly three decades. But these Gods are aging. The sense of security that citizens of Key City once felt is starting to deteriorate.

A new dark menace has made itself known in the criminal underworld; and after a founding member of the Guardians is murdered, the call goes out for a new generation of superheroes to save the day.

This is where you come in. Your character is needed to help fight the latest threat to Key City, but whether or not that actually happens is up to you. As you will see, things aren't as they seem, and the real heroes aren't always wearing masks and capes.

What Is It?
It's going to begin as a collection of short stories, each one featuring a separate setting and character. The characters get to have super-powers, but they won't know which abilities they will receive until I assign it to them. This will take place secretly at the beginning of their "issue" (what the individual stories will be referred to as.)

The abilities given out will be based on the characters sign-up. Their powers will tie directly into their internal and external struggles.

I'm hoping there will be an incredible diversity with the characters introduced in this project: so there's no limit of what one could create.

The story is set in a skewed version of our ?real world.? The only real difference is that the world in this story is a comic book: full of superheroes and sidekicks. Most of the story will take place in Key City, a fictional American metropolis in the height of it?s silver age, the 1960?s. Your character is not a superhero, at least, not initially. The choices you make with your character may eventually lead them down that road, but for their first appearance they are just a regular person; as regular as anyone with ice breath can be, that is.

One issue might be about a preacher given the ability to control fire with their mind. Another might be about a man who can see into the future, and the only way to prevent World War 3 is by assassinating the President. Anything is possible, and I hope the participants take full advantage of the freedom they have. The events and the people are more important than the powers themselves; people need to realize that in order for "hero" to be a success.

Because it's not about having the power, it's about how you use it.

Initially the issues will be self-contained, but there is a major story-arc to everything from the very beginning. Just as the story evolves, the format will move from self-contained, single character issues to more complicated ones dealing with multiple players and stories at one time.

But that's only after the major players are introduced, and the plot begins to unfold.

Sign-Up Form

Name: Name goes here.

Gender: Man or Woman.

Age: A character can be any age, ranging from the very young to the venerable.

Biography: The character?s life story, from their birth up to the moment in their life when first their appearance in ?hero? begins.

Personality: Describe your character?s strengths and flaws: What makes them the person they are? What do they believe in? What is important to them?

Profession: What does your character do for a living? Anything is an option (although keep in mind that the story is set in the 1960?s and some modern professions just didn?t exist at that time.)

Physical Description: Self-explanatory. A sketch, or photograph would be appropriate, but is not necessary.

MyOtaku.com/MyHero

One of the more exciting features of ?hero? is that it will be launching simultaneously with a new myOtaku site, devoted specifically to the RPG. However, unlike most myOtaku sites, multiple users will be able to post in this one. Players in the RPG will post original stories, artwork, poetry, and anything else they want at MyOtaku.com/myHero. Their contributions will flesh out the universe of ?hero? as a whole, and provide the type of depth that a standard RPG cannot provide.

Also, with the way posting in the RPG will be initially, myHero gives all the players a place where they may collaborate. I will be using the site to post previews of upcoming issues, and to reveal some major plot elements before they first appear in ?hero.?

If you?d like, you could even post stories about your character before you are assigned to write about them in ?hero.? Be creative with what you post in myHero; it?s only an optional part of the RPG, so you should have fun with it. The more involvement the better.

Finally...

So I encourage you to sign-up, and if selected, to participate in the RPG and MyOtaku.com/MyHero. Feel free to post any questions or concerns you might have in this thread. I have no set number of players I?d like to include, and I?ll let in everyone I feel is right for the project. Whether or not that is a large number is entirely dependent on the quality of sign-ups I receive.

Name: Jack Graves

Gender: Man

Age: 18

Biography: Jack was born in a good family at a good time. He's fairly well off, and has always been well-provided for. His father was a high executive at the local car factory, making a hefty pay-check, while his mother was a homemaker, like most women of the time (it is the 60s).

From birth, Jack showed an exceptional grasp of language, and a high intelligence. He tested in the 99th percentile when entering school. His father's money and his own intelligence got him into one of the top schools in the country.

Despite his own intelligence, however, Jack pulled down grades mainly of the B range, mainly because he just doesn't care about school enough. To him, school was a trial and a pain, and he never applied his full potential to the job. He always fought with his parents about it, slowly driving a wedge between them. He started hanging out with a bad crowd, and his outlook on life became what it is now.

In his 7th grade year, Jack became infatuated with writing and the written word. He started writing almost constantly, and decided to become a famous author, again driving a wedge between him and his parents, who wanted him to follow his father's footsteps. Jack took a job at the Newspaper 3 years later, and has become a low-level reporter.

Personality: Jack is the kind of guy who looks out for number one. He generally says and does what he wants, and is not bound by the standards of social ettiquite.

However, he is also very intelligent and very crafty, and is well versed enough in the politics of Key City to know exactly how to act to get in anyone of imporance's favor. He has a strong grasp of politics, religion, and everything to get far in the world. And because he knows so much, he has very strong opinions.

Despite his sometimes conniving and sneaky nature, he is generally quite loyal and is very strong willed. His freinds and allies are very important to him. He is an agnostic, not believing in any particular religion, but believing there may be something out there.

Whenever his parents are brought up, Jack becomes sullen and bitter, moreso than normal, and he starts to lash out at anyone near by. He is cold and standoffish, sarcastic and cynical, but there still glimmers hope inside his walled-off heart.

Profession: Jack just got out of his last year of school, and has part-time job at the local newspaper as a reporter. He's doing it to fund his novel-writing.

Name: Lucas Algren

Gender: Male

Age: 24

Biography:

Lucas Algren had a strange life, mixed up and confused. He was born an Army Brat, his father a Staff Sergeant in the US Forces, he was a veteran of WWII, something Lucas was glad he didn't remember. Lucas' mother, a Phillipine woman, gave birth to him in Manilla, a city in the Phillipine Islands. There, Lucas lived for his years up until he was 10. Life there was lonley and boring. And so Lucas had a hard time making freinds in the next place he moved, Baumholder, an American base in Germany, nick named early on, the Rock. The days of Germany were normally cold or muggy. No sun shine, just clouds and rain. Generally unexcepted by his classmates in the American school. Lucas' asian heritage was looked down upon by both children and adults, and so he tried hard to hide it. Be still, he was unexcepted and victim to much bullying from the children. Calling him '****' and 'japo' all the time. It fell hard on his shoulders, and soon made Lucas afraid of confrontation of any sort with any human. So he soon found a strong bond in animals. Namely, his pet cat, Ming.

Lucas spent most of his time, playing with the cat, or petting it. Training it to be his freind. But pretty soon, the children at school found out about his strong relationship with the cat. Tempting to always make the young boys life miserable, the class bullies took Ming from Lucas' yard. The next day, Lucas found his cat's body hanging from a light post outside of school, the three bullies there, laughing hysterically at the now crying Lucas. Hard as they tried, Lucas' parents could do nothing about the death of Lucas' best freind, the other bullies parents just as snide and disgusted about the interratial couple as the children where about the unusual child. So Lucas' parents did the only thing they could do to make their child happy, they moved to the States, and Key City was that place, a bustling metropolis.

It was in Lucas' teen years that he grew up in Key City. But this time it wasn't that he was unaccepted. He was just shy. And so he reclused his mind from others, never opening up to those around him in the somewhat ratty public school. Eventually, though, Lucas did open up to something. He was facsinated by the heroes and villains that seemd to populate the town's newpapers. Glorius Gods of the age. They were the celebrities of real life. They where a people that sent the imaginations of young men like Lucas wild. He was enthralled by their individual legends. And so, they where the vacination of Lucas for the remainder of his teen years.

Later on, after being accepted into a local and reknowned college, Lucas became the Assisstant Editor of a local newpaper, "The Key to the City". A cheesy name none the less, it was still highly successful in the large metropolis. Lucas still with holds his fear of opening up, having only few freinds, he barely even attaches himself to. Its as if he were merely a shadow on the wall, hiding himself from those around him...

Personality:

Quite and to himself, Lucas rarely speaks, and on those occasions, its simply to nervously notify his co-workers of the jobs they are to do. He often times speaks to himself, out loud or mentally. This sometimes causes a strange attention to be brought to him, which he then hides by sinking into his chair or leaving a room. He has a good sense of humor, none the less, he is a very sarcastic man. Cracking jokes about people when none are around. Afraid of confrontation of any kind, Lucas keeps to himself, and tries to stay secluded. The only other freind he has, is a newly adopted cat, named Miso.

Profession: Assistan Editor of "The Key to the City", a local newspaper.

Physical Description:

Usually can be seen wearing a crisp pair of trousers and a dress jacket with a fine-ironed shirt under. He rarely goes without wearing a suit, he thinks it makes him look like he is unproffesional, aswell, he didn't need to stick out anymore than he already did. And so he dressed in a mannor as to fit in well.

Sorry, couldn't find another pic. If my sign up needs work, please inform me.

Name: Galen Luckhoff (name attached to his crib left at the convent where he was raised)

Gender: Male

Age: 35

Biography: A self-made man who found his fame and fortune as a musician. The foremost concert pianist of Key City, Luckhoff has traveled the world three times over as a much sought-after soloist and chamber musician. He had humble beginnings as an orphan raised in St. Gabriel's Convent. He knows nothing about his past and has long since given up the search for answers.

At the age of 6, along with the orphans, Luckhoff was given basic choral lessons with the Sisters. They soon saw a spark in Luckhoff that they were determined to make a roaring flame. Luckhoff took to the piano as a cub to its mother, and could be found practicing at all times of the day.

He eventually found a teacher outside of the convent, a former touring pianist himself, Woodrow Berne. Berne eventually took Luckhoff out of the convent and into his home, where he became something of a surrogate father. Although the two got along extremely well during lessons and their discussions about music, Berne, who had never had children, was ill-equipped to deal with the many issues that accompanied adolescence.

By the time Luckhoff was 20, he was already in demand as a performer. Berne gave Luckhoff his inheiritance and sent him away on his first international performance. Luckhoff was gone for three months when he finally heard about Berne's death - cardiac arrest. Luckhoff was deeply affected for several months, but finally decided that the best way to honour Berne was to continue on the path that Berne had brought him on to.

Luckhoff feels as comfortable at a blacktie gala as he does at a soup kitchen for the homeless - which he volunteers at regularly. He makes no distinction between the millionaires and the penniless - only good and evil.

Despite his well-established career and healthy, though single, life, Luckhoff still feels oddly out of place in Key City. After 15 years of touring and performing, he is currently taking a break from touring and has been spending time simply wandering the city.

Personality: As mentioned above, Luckhoff understands the plight of the lower class, though similarly understands the stresses and expectations of the upper class. He inhabits that world of art which resides outside social norms. He is at heart a very kind man, and is quite benevolent in his distribution of his wealth, as well as his time and energy, to charitable organizations. Armed with a sarcastic sense of humour and biting wit, Luckhoff is not beyond the occasional practical joke. Despite his teachings at the convent, he is also not particularly religious. While he does believe in God, he's just another Catholic who doesn't practice regularly, unlike his piano.

However, Luckhoff is quick to anger and impassioned easily by the issues which are close to his heart - particularly those of neglectful parents. At times, he also has little patience for those who are not as quick as he, or as intelligent. Most important though is his struggle with his identity as an orphaned child. Most of the nightmares that haunt him revolve around that fact.

Profession: Thoroughly explained above.

Physical Description: See here. 6'0 and about 165 lbs. He is an good looking man, clean shaven, strong build. His hair is prematurely turning silver, though he shows no other obvious signs of aging.

EDIT: So I assume we leave you a note about the edit?

Name: Arik Through

Gender: Male

Age: 31

Biography: My life is a story not entirely untold. A man and woman love each other and all that jazz. They get married and BAM! here comes the first child. They loved it liked it was the only one in the world. You wouldn't see them walking down the street without holding the baby itself, or the diaper bag. It really was a nice thing, and everyone in Wisma thought so too.

In my opinion, it was a shame for all that to shatter. As the happy family was walking home one day, a drunk driver tore out of the Happy Hills parking lot. As he recklessly drove on the sidewalk, the family was walking on the opposite side, whistling and talking. As the two groups passed each other, the driver got a glint in his eyes. He thought to himself, "These people are happy, I think I'll help that along."

Well, in his opinion of help, and theirs were two different things. As the man pulled a quick U-Turn, and drove back towards the trio, the dad had dropped something in the road. The dad never knew what hit him. Sadly, the drunken driver was still unaware of his fatal mistake. He hopped out of the car and offered the mom a ride home. She was still in shock from seeing her husband's body laying in the street, and the car sitting on it.

He repeated the offer and in his mind, he was turned down. He suddenly threw his arm out and grabbed the child. The mother screammed and slammed the diaper bad over the guy. He dropped the baby into the sewer drain. After that, the mother become hysterical. She had tears running down her face, her hands were moving freely as she yelled at the man. He began to get a headache, and so to stop it he grabbed the clipboard sitting in his car and hit the woman. She fell down dead.

The man then got in hs car and drove off, only to be caught by the police five minutes later.

The ironic thing about all this is, that I had drank beer in the first place. I mean I had never tasted a beer in my 28 years of living, but for some reason I felt compelled to do so. After my second can, I passed out. I woke up when my body was hassled by the police. I still have no clue what happned to me.

Profession: Prisioner

If this is too violent, I can change it.

Wow - I hate to be a total *** - but just looking ahead to when the story begins - could we all make sure to make paragraphs? It's incredibly overwhelming to scroll to someone's post to see a giant immovable monolith of words.

Thanks

Name: Gary La Rue

Sex: Male

Age: 42

Biography: Gary's father was a poor French artist called Maximillion La Rue. He immigrated to America, and Key City after the Depression, when he saw it as a shining beacon of hope and wealth after the hard-hitting poverty of the previous decade. However, when he arrived, with nothing to his name except a black satchel carrying his stand, brushes and paint, he was dejected, and depressed with what he saw. He worked out on the land for sometime, picking for orchards and performing other duties, but always he ached to paint, and to draw. Eventually he had saved enough to be able to rent an apartment in Key City, for a few months. His time there was short, because although he visited every art-dealership in the city, none would take his work. In the middle of winter, he was 'ejected' from his apartment, and was discovered later that week by patrolling police-officers. He was dead in an alley, naked.

One could say that Maximilion had not wasted his time though... in particular, his energy. He had frequented the "Borget on Trentley", an ex-hotel, which had been converted into a whore-house. His preferred partner was a woman called Honey Rider, or that was her pseudonym at least. She kept a record of who and when she slept with people... for she never knew her own father, and did not wish that for any child she may have 'acquired' to have the same suffering.

So, this is how Gary became known as Gary La Rue. He was taught by Hans, the 'landlord' of the Borget about basic maths, english and history. This was a condition imposed by the prostitutes upon Hans- they would work for him, if he looked after them and their ilk.

Gary was, for a time, the lead singerof a little-known band called 'The Platelets', who toured through some of the bars and other waterfront dives of Key City. They never made it anywhere. So, where is Gary now? He stacks shelves at a supermarket, during the night, and is a street cleaner during the day. This broken man has no hope for the future, but a will not to die.

Personality: Gary has a quiet personality, but will not be pushed on certain issues. He can be stubborn, but flexible. Gary originally wanted something from life.... he still had the same pre-occupation and false beliefs of his unknown father, in that he saw the world as a beacon of hope. After the collapse of 'The Platelets' Gary became disheartened with 'it all', and now seeks just to survive. He has realised that there is something more important than getting ahead in life. And that is getting to the end of it.

Profession: A street-sweeper by day, a supermarket drudge by night, Gary is the man behind the scenes.

Appearance: Medium height, slightly muscled from heavy lifting and physical work. His has dark, tousled hair that is going grey on the sides...but raggedly, certainly not the distinguished look. He has sparsely stubbled cheeks, and commonly wears a plain white shirt, rolled up at the arms, with rough brown breeches. He also has an old tweed suit at his apartment which he shares with a druggie and a dole-bludger, but he wears that rarely. It is his 'best gear'.

This if finally up! Like I said I would, I'm now going to apply. (This is going to be good...)

Name: Jolinda Marilou Goode, born Benson, alias Viveca deVita

Gender: female

Age: 21

Biography: Hailing from the Middle States, Jolinda Marilou Benson was brought up in a small town called Redeem, very typical to the area. Her family consisted of a farmer father who was overly religious, housewife mother who was overly subdued, and seven elder brothers. In her childhood Jolinda was hard-working and strong-willed - she had to be if she wanted any attention in the family she had - , but there was always she felt was missing in her life, and that thing bothered her. So when she reached the age of eighteen, she decided that her life was somewhere else than in Redeem. The road led her to Key City.

When she first arrived to the city, she thought it would devour her in an instant. Then she noticed posters of the latest movies being played in local theaters, and a whole new possibility opened in front of her. From that moment, when she stared at the posters of "Monster of the Blue Lagoon" and "Much Ado About Anything", she decided that she was going to become an actress. The road led her to Parasol Studios.

A year and another passed in auditions and doing minor roles in minor movies, but Jolinda didn't give up. There was no returning to Redeem now. Finally fate interfered, and Jolinda met the man of her life: Larry B. Goode. Larry showed her the tricks of the show business, and in no time Jolinda starred in her first leading role in "Uncanny Casanova". The fame surrounded her instantly. She posed in the front page of several magazines, and moved in with Larry B. Goode to a luxurious penthouse downtown. Finally the road led her to marriage.

Third year in Key City passed, and Jolinda Goode, now known as Viveca LaVita to the public, enjoyed her life in the spotlights. She starred in three more movies, and they all were big hits. Then came the fateful day when the postman brought the morning newspaper. In the front cover was printed a large photograph of the famous manager Larry B. Goode fondling what seemed to be a prostitute. "SCANDAL!", the headline glowed. In no time the press had poor Jolinda surrounded to her penthouse appartment. The only possible road led her to the roof... and this is where her story really begins.

Personality: During her three years in Key City Jolinda went through a metamorphosis in this area: from the diligent and honest Jolinda Marilou Benson to the spoiled and self-centered Viveca LaVita. Her dreams of fame and fortune ultimately crushed her old self - one of the oldest stories in the world. The common people worship her, but to her colleagues and even to her husband she appears as a pretty pathetic figure, and in her darkest moments she feels the same way. Despite growing up in a very religious environment, her beliefs are only superficial. In the end of the day she's not even sure that the life in luxury is what she really wanted...

Profession: As said in the biography, Jolinda is a semipopular filmstar.

Appereance: This is the picture I did of her earlier today, showing her in her filmstar outfit. Her true haircolor is dull light brown, and her features are pretty at the most, far from beautiful.

Well, I certainly gave my best! I'll stay and wait for the result...

Name: Chris Dennett - Referred to just as Dennett

Age: 28

Biography: Hi. The name's Chris. Or you could just be like the others and call me Dennett. It's my surname, but am I not capable of understanding my first name? It's this new damned era we're living in. During the war everyone stuck together, or from what I remember. There was no real differentiation, and now I'm treated like an outsider. Anyway, what's the point of me ranting? You probably don't give a damn.

Where do I begin? I was born in England, about half an hour away from London, so I got hit pretty hard by the bombing. Of course I didn't understand it at the time, but that was probably the only time I had fun. Shrapnel flying everywhere, ricocheting off of the gates. It was just like a free firework show that hit close to home... literally. You know the deal. As I grew up I attended a public school and I think I did pretty well. I got decent grades and always stayed committed, so sometimes I wonder how I ended up here.

My family was a pretty strong and stable one. I had a strong hearted mother and middle class father, with a younger brother to teach me responsibility and all of that. Too bad my parents got divorced about two years before I came here. I don't care really, but to others it seems like a big deal. Apparentley it's socially unacceptable to split up when you're living in an unhappy marriage, which only leads to an upset family.

Anyway, I left school at about 17 to pursue a career in photography. Great load of good that got me. It seemed England didn't really use photography in the media as much as it did here, so that was a stupid decision. However, I had heard about this place.

"Key City - The metropolis of opportunity." Yeah right. But being in my naive state of my mind, I immediately set my heart to take this supposed chance and begged my parents to leave. That's when everything sank. "Idiot boy! You think you can leave the household and come back!?" Yeah, that's pretty much what I got for an answer. But do you honestly think I wanted to stay in a broken home? So I scoured my room at aged 18 and with the change I found from my job that I had on the side in the store down the road, I had enough money for a ship journey to the city. My brother helped me out a little though.

I guess my brother's my only friend. At the moment he's got some high classed job as a lawyer. Good for him. We speak occasionally and he even popped through once or twice, every time offering me a hand financially, but I'm too stubborn for that. He probably feels ashamed to have a brother like me.

So as I was saying. I got to Key City. I must admit I was a bit taken aback by how tall and busy everything was. And I absolutely loved it at first. The sights, the people, the culture. Everything was just so modern. Too bad the higher your hopes are, the harder they fall.

I went around looking for work as a photographer but each time I was just told the same thing, "Go freelance." What's so great about freelance anyway? It's just a lucky way of living where you either make it big or you miss the shot completely. I made it big a couple of times but it was ashame I was in debt every single time. That, and smoking's pretty expensive.

Had to sell my only companion on the way to my job. My trust ole' camera. Took it to a pawn shop and he gave me forty lousy dollars. I was desperate and so I had to do it, but as soon as I walked outside that metallic fenced door, I felt like a whore. I felt like I had sold myself and my connections to home. But it was until one day I bought that newspaper with the ad looking for a Private Investigator. 'No qualifications necessary, just persistence.' I was the man for the job and so I took on my first mission which involved me spying on some guy for some wife. The loose ends didn't tie together and so I now find myself in this situation.

Locked inside my apartment with some crazed, possessive husband armed with a machine gun firing away at my door... Another highlight to my life.

Personality: Having suffered from many hardships and losses, Chris is looked upon and immediately given the reptuation of a 'loser'. With no ambitions, the PI has a very negative outlook on life seeing that you can't change the flow of anything. At first he comes across as being very cold hearted and sarcastic, but deep down he does not mean it. He just feels isolated in a world that knows nothing of him. He's just an ant in the ant ill. Surrounded by others who care about no one but themselves as after all, it is survival of the fittest. At least that's Chris's outlook on it. There is one thing he longs for though and that is a reason to live... To be a hero to someone, anyone. Perhaps that would unlock his heart.

Profession: A freelance Private Investigator.

Appearance:

The only problem with himself is his lack of self esteem for he is actually a very attractive man. Though many don't realise this as the sunglasses generally stay on.
Since this is the silver age of comics , I just wanted to ask are Villians going to get to have colorfull names?
Right. The heroes and villains are going to have some very colorful names; although I'm hoping that the players will take them seriously.

Good work on the sign-ups so far. I won't close the sign-ups for at least a week, so there is plenty of time to tweak and improve upon what has been posted already. I'd like to stress that I'm expecting diversity among the sign-ups: ethnically, socially, etc. I want these characters to heavily differentiate from one another, and more importantly, from the typical protagonists you would read about in a comic book. Try to use your imaginations, guys.

Name: Meriel Colubra

Gender: Lady

Age: 23

Biography: Born in Suburbia, Meriel has always been given oppertunities to test the waters. She went to elementry school, recieved satisfactory grades and continued on to secondary school. There she tilted between extremes. In math and science, she barely scraped by. But in english and art, she mopped up the class room with every other student and sometimes even the teachers. This has led her to take multiple courses designed to improve her artistic abilities.

While in college, she continued to use her skills, often appearing in art shows when the oppertunity presented itself. Since then, she has sold over 100 paintings, drawings, sculptures, and triptichs. She recieved her degree in Arts and Humanities after four years of study, and continued to explore her options privately and otherwise. Meriel has travelled around the world with the money generated by selling her art, studying the masters and learning everything she presumed was out there. One could say she's married to her work, because she certainly never entertained the idea of having a signifigant other. This solitary life-style has somewhat alienated her. But then again, how else could she procure the time necessary to keep on doing what she loved?

She moved to Key City, stationing her studio downtown, close enough to most art facilities and art afficionados. In time, she hopes to make a big enough name for herself, to travel again, this time with young artists. She always respected the Guardians, and now she wonders if she will be able to continue her work without interruption. Meriel would do anything to protect the art she loves and would probably die if she lost her passion for it.

One thing that is perhaps her only quirk, is her obsession with snakes. Her last name, Colubra, Latin for snake, certainly affected her love for the animal, but her art truly illustrates it. In her stuido, she keeps several on hand, merely to watch them and better portray the fluidity of their curves, the sensous curl of the tounge, the way the tail locks around the tree limb, anything to show the world what she loves. As you can see, obsession is present, but it has not become destructive yet. Mind you I said yet.

Personality: Meriel is strong in will, force of mind, but she lacks the ability to distinguish between the best choice and the good choice. At times she can be horribly indesiscive, but more often she simply picks the ho hum choice that would lead to mundane results. She's learned that when she makes rash desiscions, it's most often regretted. Meriel believes in hard work, independence, and the importance of being your own person. She would rather give up her limbs than blend in with the crowd.

Profession: Artist, often asked to paint murals in the city and sometimes comissioned by private companies.

Physical Description: see attatchment. Displaying both her shy and tender towards snake side and not-so-shy without snake sides. As you can see, she isn't muscular, but she doesn't look weak either.

You want a "different" sort of Superhero character? I got yer "different" sort of Superhero character right here! *shakes fists*

Name: Aaron Miller

Gender: Male

Age: 28

Biography:
Once upon a time, a young prince was born in the heart of Key city...his name was Aaron.
Unhappily, somewhere in the divine cauldron
Where mysterious forces fabricate life,
Something went awry for Aaron,
And in the soft circuitry of his brain,
An infinitesimal welding failed!
Oh...it was only a tiny microgap between unconnected tissue...
A little cell, perhaps
That filed to form
Or died too soon!
But it left, forever, a flawed engine,
An imperfect instrument
Inside a healthy body.
So Aaron grew up handsome and bright
A Princeling who seemed destined
To inherit a secure place
in the kingdom of humankind.
And then, one day in early manhood
The chemistry that fuelled his brain could no longer deal with the flaw,
And a short circuit occurred,
Unfelt, unnoticed by irrevocable!
Gradually, unreasoned, terrible fear
Mingled with the grandiose dreams in the turgid, boiling plasma of his mind.
And this struggle brought him pain.
Soon the agony became so debilitating
That he succumbed to it...and he withdrew into himself more and more!
At last he lost touch with reality.
In time...the pain subsided, leaving him
With a numb fear of people.
Finally, he moved to 55 Droopsie avenue
Where he could live his life in an anonymity commonly provided by the tentament walls,
And sustained by his a small remittance
From a distant relative.
In this sanctuary, he could make
His own world and populate it
With creatures of his own invention.
Aaron was now, truly, a Prince
In an Enchanted Kingdom!

Physical description:
Aaron is a man
Tall of stature and thick of jaw
Handsome,
Rugged.
He carries himself stooped,
Bentbacked, like a shepherd's crook,
To protect himselff rom the battering
Undending rain of reality
Upon his uprotected head.
He wears robes of rags,
A discarded dustercoat becomes his cape
A wooly hat his crown.
A man of many mannerisms
He gesticulates wildly when he talks.
His hair is a rat's nest of blonde locks,
Framing a square face,
Hawkish nose
High cheekbones,
And his eyes holds
A rupturing intellect
Shackled by a numb mind.

Personality:
Aaron, in his Kingdom, he lived...
In a murky world populated by the great,
The famous,
And the powerful -
Aaron engaged in an endless dialogue.
Often he wrote long letters of garbled brilliance
And convoluted reasoning
On subjects of vague import.
Letters that were never mailed, but which
Nonetheless
Reflected a stagnant pool of intellect
In an imprisoned mind.
And should he speak to people
(Though those times
Are few and far between),
He speaks as if caught in limbo
Between hysteric fear
And blatant, bold arrogance
And as for 'them',
The invisible,
Sinister spies who maintained
An inexplicable surveillance on him?!
They needed watching.
So in his magical cocoon,
This sanctuary from reality,
Aaron dealt with the uninvited thoughts,
And the ectoplasmic Mages
That filtered out the gloom!
Sometimes at night, when he contemplated the magnitude of his infirmity,
Aaron addressed God...
And always these conversations ended with an exclamation
A shout,
A scream!
And then nothingness...

Profession:
Prince to an invisible kingdom.

Wow...this sounds....amazing....

Name: Jamie Nesbitt

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Biography: Jamie was raised in a pretty normal household from when she was young. She had two loving parents and on the outside everything fine in the family.

In actual fact, it was not. Although Jamie was not aware of it at her young age, her father was having an affair with a mistress he had 10 years ago. Her mother had promised not to divorce him so that they could hopefully sort things out and stay together so that their child could grow up in a normal 'loving' environment.

When she was 14, she found out that her father was having another affair with a woman that was 15 years younger than him. She was convinced that her father was being used but said nothing because she knew that she would not be able to change his mind. Later in that year she was told that her mother and father were getting a divorce and that she might never see her father again.

Ripped with despair from this news, Jamie turned into a solitary, cold young girl. Before she was popular and well liked but she eventually lost all her friends, wanting nothing more than to be left alone to think by herself.

In the next few years her grades increased because all she done was study, that's all she had left to do. No TV, no Internet and no friends, her mother was worried about her but was pleased with her progress so she paid no mind to it.

Now Jamie is on her gap year, preparing for University next year where she is hoping to start a new. She wants to make new friends and bring back the happy, carefree young girl that she used to be before she gets down to hard studying.

Profession: Working as a waitress in a local cafe to build up some money to support herself through Uni.

Name: Larry Friar

Gender: Male

Age: 47

Biography: Larry Friar grew up in a well-to-do neighborhood of Key City. His family was not by any means rich, but they got by on what they owned. Larry?s father was an electrician, and often worked late doing jobs for large companies. Being a kind man, he spent his days applying his trade to the various family-owned shops and diners in the city, free of charge. He was always on the lookout for the underdog.

Larry?s mother was the typical housewife, managing the home and children while her husband was away. Larry was the middle child of five, with two older sisters, a younger sister, and one younger brother. Every now and then his mother would take a job knitting some item of clothing or another, bringing in a few extra dollars. She was an excellent cook, and was very well appreciated by her family.

Time passed, and Larry?s family had grown up. His father was retired, and his mother still did the occasional knitting. His sisters had opened up a bakery on the far side of town, which Larry?s mother frequented. Friar?s Pastries is was called. The sisters hadn?t wanted anything to name it anything spectacular. ?After all,? they said. ?It?s just a bakery.?

Larry?s brother, Timothy, grew up and got a scholarship for football in a nearby town. He had tried out for the quarterback position, but wound up tripping in a gopher hole and breaking his leg. Not only did he fail to get the position, but his scholarship was revoked and he was kicked out of school; as the family could not afford such an education at the time. Worst of all, a distinct lack of physical care and a feeling of apathy (both results of the accident) led his leg to becoming infected. A month later, it was amputated. In his own eyes, Timothy?s future was ruined.

At the time of the accident, Larry was working at a shipping company, unloading and loading cargo on the docks. It was heavy labor, and Larry was the fittest he had ever been. When he heard about his brother?s accident, he fell into a bit of a depression, and he slacked off of work. He began to spend more time at Friar?s Bakery, consuming cupcakes and Danish as a way to ward off the gloom. Larry grew guilty of mooching off of his sisters, and decided to work off his feelings in the kitchen. In his spare time, he talked to his mother about cooking, and learned the tools of the trade from him. Working as much as he was in a bakery and having quit his job at the docks, Larry began to put on weight.

A few years later, Larry and his sisters made the decision to change the bakery into a well established diner. They still kept their baked goods, but expanded on the building. Booths were put in, and meals were to be served. Larry himself put together the menu. Such a family venture had never been done by the Friar?s as far back as can be remembered. It would be the beginning of something great.

Friar?s Diner was open, with the ?Fat Friar? at the grill.

Personality: Larry loves his family, and would do anything for them. His sisters hold a special place in his heart, as a result of working everyday together. He has grown somewhat distant from his father, but he keeps in constant contact with his mother and brother. Timothy is now an alcoholic, and lives in a run-down apartment paid for by welfare. Larry pities him, and visits every Sunday.

Larry enjoys the new diner immensely, and loves the constant influx of new people just as much as the regulars. Working with food makes him happy, especially since he?s surrounded by family. Larry is a strong believer in loyalty, and would be crushed if anyone deceived him. His diner and his family make up the things he loves, and he knows little of religion.

Profession: Head chef and manager of Friar?s Diner.

Name: Nikita "Merciless Pantera" Venicci

Gender: The role of a woman

Age: 20

Biography: Have you ever felt the feeling of being ripped away from someone? To become this unknown person in this significant person's life? Have you ever felt this raging anger that you just want to keep on battling and fighting? To have this feeling of animosity towards the world? I have. I've felt the anger, I've felt the seperation, I've felt the ignorance, and I've felt the animosity. I've felt it all after the death of my parents. I blame their death on me, I honestly blame myself for their death. Why, you ask? I was there. My name is Nikita Venicci, my father, and many others, calls me the "Merciless Pantera". I am 20 years old and I am calling my revenge on the man who murderered my parents.

My mother, Arianna Percelli-Venicci, and my father, Antonio "Tony the Mischief" Venicci, had met at a club by the name of "Musica e Succo", which is italian for "Music and Liquor". It was love at first sight and the two were the most opposite people that the world would have known. Yet, they managed to cherish and love each other. They married at a catholic church, moved away from the small town to Key City, and a year later...I was born into their world.

Throughout my life, I had done extraordinary things. At the age of 10, I was reading books like "Law and Punishment", "Jane Eyre", and books that were advanced for my age. I had also began to create an interest for poetry, music, and literature. By the age of 12, teachers were astonished by my great knowledge. They were also astounded with my knowledge in Math and Biology. By the time I entered High School, the work that was given to me, I had already known. The work was not amusing and I began to lose interest in my classes because of the fact that they were much too easy. Later on, I signed up for AP classes and Honors classes. They had caught my eye and I was intruiged with the amount of new knowledge that was given to me. 3 years later, I graduated as Valedictorian.

Before I became a Valedictorian and my interests began to grow, my parents were murdered when I was at the age of 14. I was there when they were murdered. I had seen the gun, heard my father's curses, my mother's calm voice, and the gunshot. I even heard the killer's name, but I never saw his face. To this day, I still take revenge on the man. I am 20 and I attend Key City University. I chose my major as Law and I want to become either a Prosecuting Attorney or an F.B.I. agent. But then again, my father wanted me to take over his club and my mother wanted me to become a photographer, yet I am choosing to work with law so that I can find my parents' killer and let their soul at ease, as well as mine.

Personality: Daring, dangerous, living life to the fullest, that's who Nikita is. She accepts her fears and troubles as they tackle her and learns from them so that she may become a better person. Yet, after her parents' death, Nikita had become distant and alone. She spoke to no one, trusted no one, and never let anyone open her closed heart. She had always thought that since her parents' death, she had to take care of the family business, she had to become independent. After their death, she became emotionless and distant, filled with hatred and anger, but longing for closure on the death.

Miscellaneous: Nikita was given the nickname "Merciless Pantera" because at the time, she was in the state of anger at herself and at others. She was given the name Merciless Pantera by her father, who thought her ways and persona were like that of an independent panther, waiting to attack those who oppose upon her. She also keeps this name because she will allow no mercy upon the murderer of her parents' death.

Profession: Attending Key City University, yet holding a job as a photo-journalist by day and an agent intern by night. (Don't know if they had those back then...hmm. Wonder if they had assassins?)

Name: Amaranth

Gender: Woman

Age: 16

Biography: Amaranth was born in France, but her mother, Sandra, is from Portugal and her father, Miguel, from the Canary Islands. They met in the traveling circus he was a founding member of. She was a run away in search of a job and with a background in gymnastics, he was a fire breather. Several years after an on and off relationship Sandra got tired of the unstable life the circus offered her and the equally unstable romance she found herself in and left both during a special performance in Paris. Several months later she found out she was pregnant.

Amaranth never knew her father. Sandra didn?t spare her any detail on the type of man he was though. They had a very unsteady affair, but Miguel was an admirable man nonetheless. Because of the nature of his career though, Sandra was never able to contact him and tell him about his daughter. Amaranth grew up hoping one day the circus might pass by and she would finally be able to meet him.

At the age of seven Amaranth spent seven hours waiting for her mother after school. Eventually a neighbor came to fetch her and told her her mother had suffered an accident. While crossing the street a car had hit her and she fell into a coma. She stayed that way for almost six months before her brain died. With no known relatives to take care of her she was admitted into a catholic orphanage.

Amaranth managed to keep several pictures of her mother and father and at the age of 12 after several hard and raucous years of catholic schooling she ran away. She lived on the streets for several months before she found someone to take her in. Twenty-one year old drug trafficker Ezequiel offered her a job as a dealer and she took it. She saved all the money she earned and began searching for her father on the off-time. Through old friends who salvaged some of her mothers letters she recently came into contact with a sister of his.

The last he was heard of the circus had disbanded and Miguel had traveled to Key City for an undetermined amount of time. That had been almost three years ago, but Amaranth decided to take the bait.

Personality: Amaranth believes entirely in karma. As a drug dealer she only sold to those who deserved to die from an over dose. She has a very big problem with authority and is generally very rude and abrupt in dealing with the law. Other wise though she?s very sociable. She wants a normal life, the type of life she couldn?t have as a little girl and the type of love she missed out on, which is why she searches for her father so desperately.

She always sides with the under dog, the poor, the sick, the unfortunate souls just trying to survive. She relates with them and so fights their fight. Although she acts very tough, inside she?s a ball of confused emotions. All she really wants is to be taken care of, but until she finds someone she can trust to do that, she won?t allow herself to get attached to anyone.

Profession: At the moment Amaranth is searching for a legal job in Key City to aid her dwindling funds.

Physical Description: Amaranth is 5'2 with wavy chin length black hair. She has a dark tan on her arms and legs and a very hard and well toned body. Her eyes are green and her mouth is always slightly open.

I thought I'd tap into one of my history books for this one...

Name: Julien (French pronounciation of Julian) Payette

Gender: Male

Age: 27

Biography: A not-so young étudiante from Canada, Julien grew up under a shade of darkness during the Duplessis régime in the Canadian fifties. Having understood the impact World War II had on the world, everyone believed that the Quebec Provincial Minister, Maurice Duplessis, had the right of way in his methods, that society should make its own descisions, and that assistance from the government was not necessary. Duplessis' words had proven to be a double-edged sword, as he soon used his power in office to make poor choices, including the underfunding of the education, health, and arts in La belle province, as well as using his power to sell contracts to large companies in exchange for votes from their employees and clients. Due to this time of darkness, Julien was unable to earn himself a proper post-secondary education in his twenties, due to the outrageous prices of college and university under Duplessis. However, in 1959, Duplessis died, supposedly of heart disease, and the newly-elected minister, Monsieur Jean Lesage, began what was known as the "révolution tranquille": "The Quiet Revolution", and made the exact opposite descisions as Duplessis, funding the colleges and universities around the province, and providing a plausible post-secondary education system, which provided affordable college-level education to the people.

There was one small problem, Julien was originally born in Ontario, and was left with foster parents in Quebec when he was 12 due to his biological parents' substance abuse problems. His foster family believed he was already too old to begin speaking fluent French, and could never enroll him in a proper course of education for the language. Therefore, he could not be accepted into a "cegep" (College d'enseignement general et professionel) due to his inability to speak fluent French. However, his foster father was a veteran of World War II, where he worked as a field medic, and decided that it would be useful to teach Julien some simple medicine. Julien, for only a few years after Duplessis' death, learned some older techniques from his father, before, at the reccomendation of the "cegep" office, he left to study further in America. The cost of living, at the time, was still very high in Canada, and the unemployment rate was still rather large for a still-developing country, so Julien, like many other Quebecois before him, Julien left for the U.S.A. He carried with him some medical journals of his father, which he intently studied while riding on the train to the U.S.

Upon his arrival in Key City, Julien decided immediately to spend some time searching for a suitable college, when, much to his pleasant surprise, he learned that Key City was also home to an excellent quality medical school, but required quite a bit more post-secondary training than Julien had already acquired from his father. Not one to give up, he decided to rent out a room in a house not far from the school, and, not a few months later, found a city college that would accept him and give him the proper credit required for the medical school.

Now, Julien has finally begun to chase his dream, as his college education has served ihm well, as he now goes to the Key City Medical University, when he studies intently to become a heart surgeon, and save lives as his forster father once did. Never one to forget their kindness, Julien writes his foster family on a regular basis, and practices his French everyday, even opting to continue using the French version of his name.

Continuing his journey, one step at a time.

Personality: Julien, having lived his earliest years with drug addict parents, never likes to obsess about the past, and sees every mistake he makes as an opportunity to improve and make himself better. He never forgets what he does wrong, and always remembers the faces of those few who are good to him, always repaying favors and keeping good correspondence. Julien, however, is never really the most cheerful person, and some say that he is even difficult to talk to, but underneath a very serious and dire exterior lies a very warm and friendly person who would always to whatever he could to help those in need, even total strangers. Julien is very serious about his work in med school, and everyday, studies and studies to exhaustion, so he usually does not go out very much or try to fraternize with others. He also shows a minor interest in the study of foreign languages and culture, especially Quebec, and loves recieving the occasional newspapers from Quebec, courtesy of his foster family. Julien is, for the most part, a very focused individual, but when he has nothing important to do, his mind usually wanders as he tries to recall the memories of his biological parents and his family in Quebec, and people usually say that once his mind begins to wander, it usually has a habit of staying gone until someone rouses him.

Profession: Student at med school in Key City. Studying to be a heart surgeon.

Description: Julien is somewhat on the tall side, standing at about 6' and as a very thin body. Julien has mid-length brown hair, which he usually combs back and cuts frequently for it to be as uniform as possible; "to look professional" says Julien. He also has a pair of pince-nez reading glasses which he carries in a case in his back pocket, but his eyesight is fairly good otherwise so he only needs them while studying or reading fine text. Julien's face is rather thin and chiseled, and seems to have the perfect long nose for his pince-nez glasses.

Julien usually wars a white collared shirt and a black tie that was given to him by his foster father. On cooler days, he wears a dark beige vest, or a larger sweater of the same colour, and carries a black umbrella for when it rains. Julien also wears dark black curduroy or pleated pants and always the same pair of dark leather dress shoes, which he shines himself on a regular basis. Julien is sometimes seen carrying a notepad with some medical research, or, more commonly, an outdated medical journal or Quebec newspaper from his father.

Please excuse the introductory history lesson, I thought it might help explain Julien's situation.

Name: Elizabeth Richards.

Gender: Female.

Age: 43.

Biography:

You sometimes hear stories of little girls who love adventure. They grow up in a small town, watching the people arond them leading their mundane lives, and they yearn for something bigger. Something better. Perhaps they become friends with the boy next door, and the pair of them vow to grow up and have marvelous adventures traveling the world. And somehow, in a wonderful display of the power of the human spirit, they break away from the dullness and repetition of their small town lives, and go on to fulfill their secret (except from each other) childhood dreams. And they all live happily ever after.

Elizabeth was born in the small town of Mount Pleasant, on October 24. The year was 1924. She doesn't really remember her early years of life, and when the Great Depression hit during her childhood, she had nothing with which to compare it. She grew up during those years, and was a relatively happy child.

Her mother was also born in Mount Pleasant. She grew up there, went to school there, and married her first teen sweetheart, settling in down the street from her in-laws (and two block away from her own parents.) It wasn't an isolated incident...that was how people in Mount Pleasant lived. They grew up in the small town, lived there, married there, and raised their children there. No one ever left. Nothing every changed. It was the town that time forgot.

As a girl, Elizabeth was terrified at the prospect of growing up and never leaving Mount Pleasant. She made elaborate secret plans to run away...become an actress, a writer, anything that could take her away from Mount Pleasant and its generations of faceless inhabitants.

When she was a teen, Elizabeth met Robert. Originally from the city, his family had moved to Mount Pleasant to live with relatives during the depression. Desperate for reassurance that the whole world was not like Mount Pleasant, Elizabeth talked with him often, and they became friends. Both saw the cycle that lives in Mount Pleasant took, and neither could imagine living there any longer than they had to. There was a world out there somewhere, and they were desperate to find it.

And somewhere along the way, they fell in love.

As the two children became young adults, they made plans to marry and move back east. It didn't occur to them that settling down right away was something they had both vowed to avoid...after all, they were in love. Robert had an uncle in Pennsylvania who was willing to give him a job (after all, family is family.) It seemed like it just might all work out.

But it was not to be. Robert was drafted in 1942, and was killed three months later. Elizabeth stayed with her parents for another year after that, distraught by the loss of her best friend and first love. She eventually moved out and began helping out at the town school.

She never left Mount Pleasant.

Personality: Elizabeth is a weary woman. She has been teaching for over twenty years and now teaches the children of the students from her first classes. Mount Pleasant is still the same..a little newer, a little bigger...but the same tired spirit of the town permeates everything. She'd like to believe she could make a difference in someone's life--what teacher doesn't hope that?--but nothing every changes in Mount Pleasant. In another twenty years, the students she's teaching now will be coming to her parent-teacher potlucks and chaperoning class field trips.

She doesn't like to think about her past, and no longer dwells on the fact that she's become exactly what she feared she would be. She doesn't have time for specific regrets...there are papers to grade, library books to file...and the aura of regret hanging over the entire town is enough.

Profession: Elizabeth is a fourth grade teacher and the school librarian. She is no longer at the same building where she began teaching (and went to school herself); that was destroyed ten years ago to make room for the new building. It is now called Thomas Jefferson Middle School, and parts of it will probably never be finished. Old construction materials clutter certain hallways and closets.

Physical Description: Please see attachment. As a hopeful student in the forties and a jaded teacher some years later.

Name: Marque Jones

Gender: Female

Age: 24

Biography: Born into the rubble and chaos of the early 1940s, Marque never knew her father, like many other children of WWII. Though he was an honest, brave soldier and a good man, he was also a black man. Divisions like his were sent out on suicide missions to parachute into enemy territories, steal German intelligence, and destroy the nearly impenetrable Axis compounds. While a rare few of the black divisions managed to win the day and come back in a blaze of glory, most were slaughtered. Marque?s father was one of the slaughtered. All she and her mother got in return was an officially stamped letter from the President and his sincerest sympathies.

For a long while it seemed as though the two Jones women were destined for misery ? they had made the mistake of being poor, female, and black in a time were all three were held in low regard, if any at all. It took all they had to keep their father?s little corner store from going under. Thankfully, Marque?s mother was a careful, clever lady and her business acumen saved them many times over.

Luckily, the woman?s ventures did not go unnoticed. A prominent figure in Triton (the small shore town Marque grew up in) and also in business began making regular stops into their store. At first, the Jones women thought he was just another white vulture, swooping down on them in order to buy them out. But as they saw more of him they discovered that their previous suspicions were only half true. While Mr. Markson had initially planned to do that very thing, his continuous visits had also lent him a different perception of these women, especially Marque?s shrewd mother. By the time he made his move, his plans had changed entirely, and he was secretly developing a bit of a crush on Mrs. Jones. He offered the woman ownership of one of his own stores in nearby Key City, as well as continual ownership of her late husband?s store, if the two businesses merged together.

And so just after Marque?s nineteenth birthday, she and her mother hired a manager for their Triton store and moved to Key City in order to begin a new life with their new business partner. Marque loved the city instantly (though Triton would always be her home) and eventually enrolled herself at the local university. Life still wasn?t easy for the two Jones women, but they had no doubt that they had made the right decision.

Currently Marque is in her fourth year at the university, majoring in business. She helps out at the store as much as she can and also does her part in a certain Civil Rights movement that has spread like wild fire across the country. Although she isn?t always accepted because of various racial or gender reasons, Marque continues to fight and prove herself ? something she learned from both her parents.

Personality: Marque is a very willful woman with a strong sense of right and wrong. She grew up under her mother?s guidance and because of her father?s store, she knows what hard work is and isn?t afraid to get her hands dirty. She?s also learned to fight for what she believes in and for what she knows is right, even when it seems like the whole world is against you. Both her parents were fighters and really, her life was exactly like that ? one battle after another.

She also feels very strongly about civil rights and lends tons of time and effort into the cause, though she doesn?t believe that the different riots and street skirmishes between blacks and whites are the way to do it. WWII, though now decades old, still shadows much of her life and if there?s one thing that she desperately wants to stop, it?s that kind of brutal violence and discrimination. Because of her involvement in both the movement and with Mr. Markson, she?s also learning that gender and ethnicity are not standards to judge a person by and is striving to remember that.

Despite that, however, Marque has a strong dislike for the government and especially for the military. She strongly disapproves of their actions in WWII (including her father?s suicide missions and later the dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki) and sometimes finds it hard to conceal that disgust when working towards change.

Profession: Ms. Jones is currently a student enrolled at Key City?s local university. With a major in business, she hopes to eventually join her mother and Mr. Markson and continue the dream that her father once had. On the side, she?s an activist for civil rights both on the campus and in the city itself.

Physical Description: Dark-skinned and fairly pretty, Marque leaves an impression on most people she meets. Her dark hair is short and slightly curled and her almond shaped eyes are a deep, warm brown. What gets most people, however, is her smile ? always big and bright and friendly. Tall and graceful, she?s a practical dresser, but can look comfortable in just about anything.

Name: Lawrence "Larry" Moore Jr.

Gender: Male

Age: Eighteen

Biography: Born January 30th, 1949 to Maria Flores, a Mexican woman, and Lawrence Moore, a white man of mixed European heritage, Larry Moore Jr. has lived around Key City his entire life in one of its more Chicano neighborhoods. Larry showed an aptitude for learning from an early age, always eager to delve into books and absorb as much information as possible. He was also an extremely charming person, kind to everyone he met and always very humble. The people in his predominantly Mexican neighborhood loved him; they saw him as someone their people could be proud of, an example of what everyone of their race could strive to be if they worked hard enough.

With this intelligence, however, came many burdens. Larry was pushed extremely hard by the local residents of the neighborhood and he felt very awful if he thought he slighted them in any way when it came to his academic studies. Though his teachers loved him, and pushed him just as hard as the residents of his neighborhood, the other kids resented him, because they felt he was given special treatment due to his race. His peers resented the fact that he always seemed to get "A's" on his papers, while they were relegated to lower grades, despite the fact that they felt they worked just as hard as Larry did.

Even with these problems, though, Larry tried his best to enjoy life. He fell in love with baseball during middle school and played on his high school's varsity baseball team all four years as a center fielder. Though Larry did not thrive on competition as much as the other players did, he enjoyed the game as much, if not more, than they did, as it presented a fun challenge and an escape from the extreme rigors of his everyday life.

Now, Larry is in the middle of his freshman year in college. He graduated from his high school as the valedictorian of the Class of 1966 and gained entry to a private college, one of the most prestigious schools in the state. His mother, along with the other residents of the neighborhood, cried tears of joy when "their little boy" walked during graduation as the valedictorian. His father, perhaps sensing that his son was not truly happy, decided to keep a low profile and simply smile at his beloved son as he walked down the graduation ramp.

However, Larry's college life is not as his parents or anyone else is imagining it. Larry told his parents that he would go to college to study as an architect; in reality, his major is undeclared and he's trying out for the baseball team, attempting to simultaneously achieve his dream of playing baseball and finally getting the chance to grow up right. For most people, college is the rite of passage between youth and adulthood...it is no different for Larry, as he simply wants to be a real adult, instead of the fake he's been his entire life.

Personality: As mentioned earlier, Larry is an extremely intelligent young man. He's quiet, reserved and very humble. He is also not happy with his life. Throughout his developing years, Larry was pushed so hard by his family that he felt he had to accelerate his growth process and become an adult quicker than the other children. Larry never had an opportunity to experience the trials and tribulations of adolescence; it was as if he jumped from being a child to an adult, without any of the fun in between. He's never kissed a girl, much less had one as a girlfriend, and he never had any true friends that he could hang out and mess around with.

The only outlet that Larry had to express his adolescent yearnings was baseball. On the baseball diamond, Larry felt free from the pressures and bindings of everyday life. He didn't have to be an adult, he didn't have to live up to any expectations, and he certainly didn't have to do things that other people wanted him to do...he was free to be himself and to have fun. Larry has done more growing up on the baseball field than at any other place during his short life.

However, his athletic life was frowned upon heavily by his mother, who felt that baseball was not an adequate field of work for her only child. She reasoned that because he would be discriminated against his entire life, he would never be given a chance to succeed in baseball, so he should just give up and find a line of work where he could really make others proud. Larry's father attempted to intercept this line of thinking, and wholly encouraged Larry's love of baseball, because, as he put it "there's no better time to be a kid than when you're actually a kid".

Larry's entire life has been spent doing things because other people told him that he should attempt them; next to nothing Larry has done has been of his own free will. Larry never had a chance to grow up, he just went to sleep one night a kid, and woke up the next day as an adult. He's tired of doing things for others, because it's what the majority thinks is "right". Larry has taken his life into his own hands, and making his decisions based on his own wants, needs, yearnings and desires; he views his decisions not as "selfish" but directly representing his own needs as a human being.

Larry wants nothing more than to be human.

Profession: Larry is a freshman in college, with an undeclared major. He is trying out for his school's baseball team and hopes to hone his skills enough so that he can eventually play for a team in the major leagues.

Physical Description: Larry inherited the dark skin and black hair of his mother, and the blue eyes and wiry frame of his father. Unlike his father, though, Larry is actually fairly muscular, though his muscles are more of the skinny, fast-twitch variety than the bulging muscles of professional weightlifters. Larry is of average height and is fairly handsome. He doesn't consider himself to be a knockout, and his looks are more understated than noticable. You really have to get to know him before you realize how handsome he is.

Well, I'm thankful that I finally stopped being lazy and wrote this, heh. Even if I don't get in, this was a fun bio to write...I really like this character.

Interesting little RPG Shy, very interesting (Do I say that too much ?). Anyway I hope this is good enough as I've not RPed in a while.

Name: Victor O'Donnell

Gender: Male

Age: Early 40's

Biography: Victor Edward O'Donnell was born just outside Clonmel town in the County Tipperary region of Ireland in February 1923 to parents Michael and Bridget O'Donnell. His father Michael was a schoolteacher who had believed heavily in the I.R.A. fight against British, to the point of joining the group in the War of Independence. However after Victor' birth he decided to relinquish his position in the I.R.A. although he stayed on as a vocal supporter of the group itself. His father as an educator was a well-respected member of the community and the birth of his first child seemed to increase that respect, since he used to say had fought for his son's future. Victor' mother Bridget was a simple housewife and some ten years younger than her husband, she was a loving and dedicated wife who was famous for her cleaning abilities. Unfortunately for Victor and his mother Michael was killed in a revenge attack by Anti-Treaty I.R.A. troops in the closing days of April 1923 when Victor was only just two months into life. This had wider repercussions than just leaving Victor without a father as it also left himself and his mother without their sole provider of income.

Bridget was heart broken at her husband's death and seemed to lose all hope for life, save to see her son progress into manhood. However neighbors around her saw her slowly wasted away during the following months, and she too was to pass away before Victor was even old enough to remember her clearly in December 1925. And so Victor was left and orphan with no living family able to care for him in Ireland, it was so decided that for his own benefit and the chance of a better life he would be sent to Key City in the United States to be raised by his Aunt Mary and Uncle Thomas along with their young two daughters. Just shortly after his second birthday in 1925 Victor finally arrived in Key City with his uncle Thomas and was so taken in to be raised as one of their own. Thomas was a solicitor of law in Key City and was pleased to finally have a son that he could bond with, since he had not had the chance to do so with two daughters. Mary worked part time in a local store but spend most of her time looking after their new arrival.

So Victor had what could be described as a slightly bumpy childhood, although the details would not be provided to him until he was old enough to understand. He was a happy and imaginative child and was enrolled in the local Elementary school by age 5. Victor proved to be a particularly clever child in school, completing most assignments with ease to the surprise of his teacher, he made friends quite easily and was content in himself. Year after year passed and he was soon finished Elementary school and moving on into Key City High as a junior, and event he'd been looking forward to with a sense of excitement. Victor soon became acquainted with his new surrounding and was helped on by his cousins Elizabeth (Elsie) and Lillian (Lilly) who were 3 and 4 years older than him respectively. He found he had an instant liking to the one of his new subject, chemistry and often spend hours of his free time just reading through his book on what was coming next. By 18 he had finished High School and decided that he would go on to study Chemistry as a career as a teacher. His Aunt and Uncle ever supportive of their "son" agreed with his choice and bestowed their blessing.

Victor began his new studies with the same determination and pleasure he had shown in previous terms of education, and also showed that he had both a natural flare and talent in his choice of career. Victor had always been a shy and quiet person most of the time but he seemed to be in his element when training to be a Chemistry Professor and became more confident in himself. It was this newfound courage that made Victor a happier person capable of finally dispelling his inability to go out on dates. He was beginning his third and final year of his subject when the Second World War broke out, an event who's building he had watched with some interest. The War's intensity and sheer carnage disturbed Victor greatly as it brought his mind to dwell on his the true facts of his birth on the events that led to him being raised in the States. He often wondered what he life would have been like in Ireland had his father not gotten involved and stayed as a simple teacher, though such thoughts he realised were pointless his mind dwelt on them from time to time.

Life continued on for Victor, at 22 he got his diploma and become a certified Chemistry Professor, bringing to an end one of his larger hurdles in life. He moved back in with his Aunt and Uncle for a while before he was able to apply to Key School High as the Assistant Chemistry Professor. He decided to move out and try and find somewhere of his own, somewhere where he could call the shots and to make his mark. This "quest" led him to rent an apartment in the middle of Key City, it was a large and comfortable place, one which Victor found he had an instant liking for. Just over 20 years on and Victor is still living in the same apartment though it is more modern and adult looking before. He is now the Chemistry teacher at Key City High a step up although it took nearly 10 years, he is a dedicated teacher though he is still single due to his lack of a social life, something he endeavors to correct. He is happy in his life although as he himself has said he wouldn't mind some companionship beyond his dog Cú.

Personality: A kind, honest, thoughtful and intelligent man Victor O'Donnell has become a well-respected educator in his own right. Quiet and sometimes shy but not completely silent Victor enjoys to listen to people rather than talk, though this can sometimes lead to a one sided conversation and the words "You'd get a better response from a brick wall" being muttered by his cousin Lilly. A caring and compassionate man he has a great affinity for animals and regularly visits the local animal shelter with food he collects. Those who would mock him (though there would only be a very small number) would say that he is an idealist who sees the world as it ought to be, a man who lacks confidence in himself, and a man who can sometimes lose touch with reality for the sake of work.

Profession: Chemistry teacher at Key City High.

Physical Description: As seen in this photo although without the scary background and monster at his side. Stands about 6'1 in height and weighs somewhere in the region of 150 lbs., athletically built and physically fit. He usually dons a pair of small rectangular spectacles over his dark blue eyes. His white lab coat and garments underneath it are kept free of all stains as humanly possible.
