JCBaggee
Name: Jonathen "Jonny" Arthur Gender: Man Age: 22 Biography: Jonathen "Jonny" Arthur was born into a regular family just like everyone else. His family doted on him, he exceled in school...literally the pick of the litter, despite the naggings and hounding of his siblings and schoolmates. High School changed that. Desperate for acceptance, Jonny began to experiment with various drugs, skip out on his schoolwork, ignore his parents...he became the rebel that his Generation so desperatly strived to be. But a run in that ended in his best friends death changed all that. Jonny has since left his family and friends, leaving them no word on where he is. He's been living in the Midwest, working various mill jobs and living a solitudical existence. Though he's been off drugs for sometime, he still feels that dark temptation to go back to his old self. Any side effects caused by the drugs have yet to be seen... Personality: Jonny has walked to the edge of life, looked death straight in the eye and survived...only to find he didn't really want to. Though he feels compelled to do whats right, he still fears what he has been in the past, and what he inevitably may become. He hasn't maintained true human contact for years, only speaking with those he must and spending his free time holed up in his apartment. He's chosen to erase his past existance, taking on the name Aaron Delgado in his new home of Key City. Profession: Jonny has been working several odd jobs for the past years. He mainly sticks to work in mills, doing jobs that keep him indoors and out of the public eye. Physical Description: Jonny is a tall, wiry man with jet black hair and downtrodden brown eyes. Since he has no desire to appear as his old self, he has not shaved or cut his hair since his departure, and sports long hair and a shaggy beard. Though he dresses like a bum and maintains the appearance, the years working in various mill and contruction jobs have clearly made him quite strong. Woot! There we go ^_^ I"ll be keeping an eye on this one...
Shy
Sunday, July 11th will be the last day to post your sign-ups. The following day, July 12th, I will announce which players made it into "Hero" and assign the first "issue" in secret. The myHero site is up and running. For the most part, this is what the finished product will look like. I'm very excited about the prospects of Hero and it's companion myHero, and I'm really hoping that players in the RPG take some time to work on original content for the site, and see what can be done. Um, yeah. The more sign-ups the merrier. I haven't really "chosen" anyone for the RPG yet, and I haven't read many of the entries. There is still time to give it a shot. -Shy
AzureWolf
AzureWolf will not be online for 2-4 weeks (or whatever 10-20 business days amounts to). I am posting on his behalf. Name: Rock & Xia Gender: Male & Female, respectively Age: 19 & 9, respectively Biography: Rock was born to a middle-class family. Since he was the last child of four, he was favored and given the best care. His other siblings always envied him a little bit, but at the same time, cared for him sincerely. Two siblings even passed their interests down to Rock: his brother influenced Rock to learn martial arts, and his sister stressed the violin. The oldest child, Robby, was already in business and did not visit home often enough to make an impact. Still, Robby would never miss a chance to send money: birthdays, holidays, and random anniversaries. And of course, some of his father?s engineering knack rubbed off on Rock. Rock found a high school sweetheart his sophomore year, but his parents found her too "unworthy" for their son. Lucky for them, Rock?s sweetheart soon had to study abroad for two years; unlucky for them, she secretly promised Rock her hand in marriage when she returned. It was early, but Rock was never so sure of anything before. Ambitious and hot-blooded, Rock didn?t care for anything else after hearing his fiancé?s answer. Although a potential musician, Rock signed up for the army when a military recruiter jokingly appended his lecture with "?And it?ll really impress your girl. ;)" Rock didn?t notice anything before or after those words (and the smiley), but it was all he needed to hear. This change of heart created a bit of turmoil at home, but Rock knew how to get his way. His parents were not disappointed with the results, though, as Rock rose in the ranks and became a recognized individual in the army. The V-War needed someone like him, and he was ready to put his training to the test and "impress his girl." One day, Rock?s troop came across one of the secured villages and split up. To Rock?s surprise, he found his high school sweetheart among them! Appearing next to her was a man, their intimacy confirming their relationship. "Allyson?!" Rock was frozen with disbelief. When a little girl came out and asked, "Mommy, why is everyone dying?" Rock?s mind and body completely separated. His last conscious memory was of his beloved approaching him adoringly. Rock finally collected himself when he heard the sound of gunfire, and the next thing he knew, Allyson lay dead on the floor. "Boyscout, I?m sorry, but she was going to kill you!" It was then Rock noticed the knife in her hand? "Hey, we don?t have time for this! We gotta get through these people and aid the rest of the squad ahead!" After looking directly at her body, Rock froze again. He never experienced something like this before. None of the army training scenarios prepared him for such a series of events. "BOYSCOUT, MOVE! SH#T!" His partner started firing at the other "civilians" that were charging forward. The screams were maddening ? just what Rock needed to lift his gun. The husband realized his fate and asked ? in surprisingly clear English, "Spare the child." Rock nodded without hesitation, and fired likewise. The man almost seemed to smile at Rock?s acknowledgement. Regardless, Rock didn?t need the man?s last request to take her in. It was a little girl who still had her innocence ? and more: his first girlfriend?s legacy. Afterwards, there was not much explanation from the military intelligence as to how the village was mistaken for a sanctuary. Worn out, Rock soon left the army and returned home? ?Only to find his entire immediate family dead. Even Robby and Rebecca, who now lived miles away, were lost in some type of tragic accident. The funerals were already taken care of by other relatives, since most of them thought Rock would not return from the war. The military watched out for Rock and landed him a job in Key City. "You?re good with your hands. I?ve seen you work, Boyscout! This job is perfect for you." ----Xia's Story---- Xia?s mother died during childbirth. Her father died about a year after. Xia was then raised by her father?s brother, who died seven months after he took her in. These deaths made other family members fear Xia as some type of black luck. She was given away, and since then, has been passed from family to family, moving after some tragic fate seized her guardian. When Xia was six, Allyson, a distant relative who lost her superstition from Western exposure, refused to believe such nonsense and took Xia in. After a neighbor died from an unmarked mine, the rumors reemerged, and the rest of the community scowled at Allyson?s decision. "She?ll kill us all!" "Her black luck is getting stronger!" "Black will kill us all!" "They say she will turn your closest friends and families against you!" "Now it?s not just you in danger!" Aside from the isolated mine incident and some unfortunate crop developments, a year and a half passed without any real danger. The villagers were still displeased, but lessened their taunting. It was exactly two years after her move-in with Allyson when some soldiers appeared. While soldiers were standard procedure, among them was a black-skinned person. One villager became panic-striken and drew his knife. "It?s the black luck! You will not take us!" He stabbed the officer. Not many of the villagers knew what happened, but they heard the gunfire and saw one of their men down. With that, they prepared to defend themselves? Allyson heard about her friends on the other side of town and became distressed. A man who had a liking for Allyson took this opportunity to "comfort" Allyson. "Allyson?!" Rock appeared at the door. Allyson couldn?t believe it. It couldn?t have been Rock. Why would the musician she loved be here holding a gun? "They say she will turn your closest friends and families against you!" The words of the villagers echoed in her voice, and she prepared to take down the fake. "Mommy, why is everyone dying?" Personality: Although spoiled, Rock wasn?t much trouble to raise. In the army, his nickname was "Boyscout," due to his "by-the-book" nature. He believes in sound being stronger than the written word, most likely due to his expertise with the violin (he surpassed his sister as she was teaching him). In fact, Rock hates to read. He?s an idealist; always dreaming of something wonderful in the future. Xia is quiet. A statement has never left her mouth. Whenever she is forced to speak, it?s always in the form of a question. Although Rock prods her, she always breaks the discussion with some wounding inquiry. "Where is mommy?" Xia is not an angry child. In fact, although reserved, she smiles a lot. Profession: Rock now works as a mechanic in Key City. He?s also known as a mechanic who won?t fix one thing and break another ? truly a rarity (so rare that it?s a super power?! j/k). Xia doesn?t have a job. Physical Description: Picture included
Jokopoko
Name: Michael ?Mich? Braddock Gender: Male Age: 31 Biography: Michael has lived in Key City for much of his life; he came from Chicago after his parents and sister were killed in a road accident. Early in life he had dreamed about being a technician of some sort as he saw Computers were changing the world and so saw a career in those machines. But he soon learned how fickle fate is when he was flunked out of the school for his family background; after this he decided to train as a handy-man, but an electrician mostly and this was able to sustain him for some time before moving to Key City. Before moving he had many the odd jobs in the city but could never hold himself in a single job for to long. He hand an on-again off-again relationship with a woman called Christina Farrad but she thought he was ?below? her because of her family?s social status in Chicago. This left him feeling cheated and hurt so he decided to leave his old life in Chicago and move to Key City. At first he tried to be the odd job man once again but found it didn?t make ends meet, so he went looking for a job that demanded all of his skills. After several months of searching he found a job, but he was not to please with it. Being a Superintendent was not the life he had pictured for himself but it was what he had been dealt in life, so he swallowed hid pride and took the job. Mich is never short of work seeing as his apartment block is close to the centre of Key City and, thus, close to the fighting between the Guardians and numerous Super-Villains the city seems to hold and he doesn?t complain about this because, as he sees it, the busier he is the less time he has to re-live the past and think about how his life hasn?t turned out the way he wanted it to. Personality: Due to life dealing him the fate card in most cases Mich has become very reclusive and, some would say, spiteful to the world as a whole. He finds it hard to trust anyone new, especially women, and so doesn?t have many friends in the City. Under all the layers though he is an all round nice guy and helps those who need it when he thinks he is able to help them. But because of his outward nature it is hard for people to approach him so he cannot know whether they need his help or not. Shy
Introducing the heroes of our story... Sage - Vivica DeVita Zidargh - Chris Dennett ColourDeaf - Aaron Miller Ben - Larry Friar Lore - Elizabeth Richards Arcadia - Marque Jones Shinmaru - Lawrence Moore Jr. I just want to say that I'm terribly impressed by the sign-ups for this thing. It was very difficult trying to choose the wining entries, but I did my best in trying to selecting who would be best for the project. If anyone would like to talk to me about why they didn't make it into the RPG, they are more than welcome to PM or AIM me (ShyGuy51185) about it. Everyone who was selected for the RPG should be expecting a PM fairly soon. It will explain some things about the story, and how to access the myHero site. I hope everyone had as much fun writing their posts as I had reading them. Thanks again to all those who participated. Expect the actual RPG to launch sometime during the week. -Shy
Shy
Hero sign-ups have been re-opened for a short amount of time. The storyline involves a few more characters than I had originally anticipated, and as such I've decided that this is the best way to recruit players once again. It will only be a few positions, but the RPG has not developed very far in the past few months and this is a good chance to join. A couple of things to keep in mind before posting:

I'd suggest looking at the sign-ups that have already been accepted. There is a great diversity among the players, and that, combined with great post quality is what I am most interested in seeing here.
This is not Kill Adam, and the RPG is only rated [PG-LV] please keep your assassins and rapists in another RPG.
The story is set in the 1960's, look at the history of that era for ideas on what type of character to create.
If you signed up in the past and were not accepted, this is a good chance to give it another try. Some of you were very close to being accepted, and you don't have to make a new sign-up if you don't want to. Just make any changes that you feel are neccessary and repost. The sign-up requirements have gone unchanged, and can be viewed on the first page. I have no definite time for when I will close sign-ups, but I expect it to be no later than a week or so. -Shy
Dragon Warrior
Wow, sorry I took so long to get to this sign up, Shy. I've finally freed up some time :^D Name: Angelo Tribbiani Gender: Man Age: Twenty-One Biography: Angelo's a mobster now. Makes sense since it was his father's occupation. And why not? The man had no special abilities aside from getting himself into all sorts of troubles. But eventually Angelo's father's troubles got him into a hole he couldn't dig out. Working for a man named Louie Farrow, Angelo's father Ricki was a hitman of style. He was sent on the missions only men of his skill could handle; A real hard calibur. But one time, when Angelo was ten, it was over. Farrow was doing some business that Ricki didn't approve of. He ratted Farrow out, but Farrow had Ricki and his wife whacked before he was sent to the prison cells. Farrow was completely oblivious to the fact that Ricki was a father. Now Angelo and his big brother Vince were orphans. Evening if Vince was thirteen, they were both minors and were immediately sent to an orphanage. But that didn't last long. They escaped shortly after and remained on the streets for a short time. Angelo wanted revenge on Farrow for the deaths of his parents and Vince wanted to get into the mafia business. They both agreed they would join a gang. Surprisingly, they were accepted into the first one they found. And even more surprising, they were sent on killing missions. Nevertheless, they were watched over until they grew old enough to harness true skills of a mobster. Things were going better than Vince and Angelo believed it to be. The Tribbianis were back in the business, but for seperate reasons. Nevertheless, the two brothers didn't go anywhere without each other. They could only trust one another in this dog eat dog world. Angelo seemed to have a knack for stealth and he taught Vince what he knew. Vince was a larger guy and had strength. Angelo wasn't up for too much weight lifting so he left that to his sibling. He'd use his killing abilities and cunning to get Farrow. Turned out Farrow escaped prison a month or two after he was imprisoned. Where he was now is a mystery. But Angelo is determined to get him. Personality: Losing what matters to you the most, like family, could put you in a state of mind where nothing matters anymore. Angelo has fallen through the cracks of hate and kills for revenge. He's usually calm and thinks ahead before actions are taken (mostly because of Vince), but in the heat of gunfire, he can get a little hotheaded and forget his place. It's a wonder how that very head of his is still intact on his head. He has no time for anything aside from his brother and his business: the two things not dead to him yet. A joke is nothing he tends to crack unless it's an insult or sarcasm. His temper is a ticking time bomb and it explodes on victims far too often for both the prey and Angelo's own good. Profession: He works as a man in the Italian mafia. Physical Description: Like most well-paid mafia men, he's sharply dressed in his zoot suit, the type splashed with that stylish grey color complete with matching fedora hat. His shoes always look shiny, even if they get dirty during his more "unpleasant" jobs. His hair is slicked back with fine grease, not the kind that looks cheap and makes a man look like he's worth a dollar; We're talkin' the expensive brand. He has a simple scar that goes down his right cheek, a centimeter or two long. He gained it from when one of his quarries brought him into a knife fight. He wishes it could be hidden. Angelo takes pride in his appearance. I know, I know. That sounds crazy because he usually gives not a damn what people think. But he tends to believe he's not much of a looker when the truth is, he doesn't pay attention to romance anyways. At least not for now.
