Where you're from and what you do

It's basically what the title says - just wondering what people on OB do outisde of posting, and where they're from. This isn't meant to be anything cheesy. But, what good is it if people interact behind a screen? Humans weren't designed that way, and there is certainly more to people than just an RPG character.

I'm not just asking out of mere morbid fascination, or anything perverted, but out of genuine curiosity at the type of people who sign on to places such at this... actually, especially a place like OtakuBoard, which prides itself on quality.

I'll begin: I'm a music student in Toronto, ON, Canada - I'm actually a pianist. I've just completed my second year in a Bachelor of Music program at a music school. Since it's summer and school is over, I'm currently working as a telemarketer. Oh yeah, I just turned 20 a short while ago.

That's about it.

Nice. I just went out West for the first time last summer - I really really liked Calgary. I also made it out to Banff - which was ridiculously beautiful

I'm from the general San Francisco bay area in California, United States.
I'm currently a college sophomore studying radio and television broadcasting.
As a change of pace, I'm taking this summer off of school to concentrate on my job and relaxing a little. I work as a Market Research Recruiter/Interviewer for Cunningham Field Research Services. Basically, my job is to find random individuals who live in the local area, and get their opinions on certain products so we can send the info back to the companies. This involves showing incomplete movie trailers for feedback, taste tests, fragrance tests, and the like. You might've seen people with my job around. We're those jerks in the mall who ask "would you like to take a survey?"

Outside of OB I babysit as a summer job until school starts again, then I'm going to work at McDonalds(Gotta Start Somewheres). Other than that, I live in Vermont and there isnt much to do if you don't live in the right part of VT. I play the piano, draw, read, and visit my friends when I'm not on the net. Welcome to my world.

There seems to be a lot of people on OB who play the piano - kindred spirits! Thanks for sharing.

Well i live in Nova Scotia Canada (dartmouth to be exact) I've just finished jounier high and now starting high school....its alittle nerveracking but im dealing with it. I don't really have any hobbies except videogames.....i did however take up piano for several years but i wasn't happy with my teacher so i stoped...i teach myself now just the music i want to play such as Final Fantasy music....and i did equestrian as well but again i found the teacher to be so stricked and bitchy. I couldn't stand it. The only hobbie i have now is video games and my father considers them a waste of time for me. lol

I'm from Stoke-On-Trent, England - a city generally thought to be extremely crappy, to which I must agree. I don't have a job right now, firstly because I only just finished high school (UK terms), and secondly because I don't want one for a little while longer. I'm about to move on to college in September, but until them I'm pretty much a free man (or boy, whatever). At college I will (hopefully) be studying Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Psychology. I haven't taken Psychology before, but it sounds interesting. Here's hoping that I'll get to mess with people's heads.....BWAHAHAHAHA!!! ......................so yeah, that's me.

Oh yeah, and though I don't live in Canada, I've been to Toronto on holiday before. Cool place. Beats my city's crappiness without even having to try.

So far, Canada and the UK are well represented.

Rachael - it seems as though you are deathly allergic to teachers in general. I'd stay away from them.

Stoke-on-Trent... what a funny name. Sorry to hear about the extreme crappiness. Where r u thinking of going for post-secondary, Rei_Man?

Thanks for sharing you two.

I've been to Stoke-On-Trent, it's better than Manchester... -.-

I come from Manchester, in England. I'm really Welsh, English and Polish, so I travel to Wales a lot. Anyway, Im still in high school, in fact, this year was my first year. I have a mini-job thing with a few friends (we write internet comics, story-lines and other stuff). I normally write or draw in my free time, or spend my time trying to do things I've never tried. I come to OB a lot, and I'm normally in Wales for most holidays, so I don't have the internet. I'm hoping to keep writng a do a comic with my three net (two real life friends, don't see each other very often, normally once a year) friends, or write a book, I aim to complete something like that before I die.

I'm from a small town in Connecticut, USA. I am hopefully going to be a Junior in High School next year.

I don't do much outside of the internet. I read alot of books. I play video games. I go on the internet and post on message boards like this one and Adult Swim. And i try to pass school, which i'm not doing so well on. I am horriable at math.

I tired to get a job this year, but it didn't work out. I will try again next summer.

In the future i hope to go to a Tech collage like ITT. I want to learn how to be a Video Game designer.

I have a very boring life. I hope that i have answered your question.

Talk to ya later.

LOL i think i should explain the whole teacher thing.....i had an old piano teacher but she stopped teaching to focus on her studies ( she was teaching on the side) and the equestrian teacher....no everyone there......were so uptight about everything.....im more of a laidback kinda person. All I wanted to do was just ride a horse and learn how to take care of it and its equipment but damn there were so many small petty rules to follow i couldn't take it.

that and i guess im not good with taking orders

Luckily, I have a sparkling, irresistible personality... I don't think the only person who knows me in real life posts here anymore, so I'm sticking to that lie.

Actually, the only reason I still have my job is because I'm the only employee they have left. So it's either fire me, or the manager goes out there and does my job. Ha!

Originally, I was concentrating on radio. But then I realize the radio and TV equipment at my school is older than I am, so i'm thinking of holding out on any major-specific courses and tranferring to a different school.

Ahhhhh... I see. I'm sure personality is sparkling and irresistible....I'll believe that till someone tells me otherwise.

Good luck on your decision about the school.

Rachel - I understand about the teacher business... I have an equestrian friend... and they ARE pretty anal about things.

I'm from a small town outside of a large city in Western NYS. It's actually not a bad place to live if you like the weather changing every few seconds.

If you come to stalk me, may I recommend eatting at Nick Tahoes first? You can experiance local food and get heartburn at the same time so you may forget about the stalking.

As for other places I've lived well, from 11, September 2002 to 16, November 2003 I lived in Killeen TX. That's a small town an hour and a half north of Austin . The reason I lived there was because my husband is in the Army and was stationed at Ft.Hood. He's in Iraq now.

Will I ever move back to Texas? In two words: Hell NO!

Right now I work temp jobs and I'm in the eigth month of my pregancy. When they can't find a job for me I do odd jobs for my parents and help my mom with her job. Like fixing Product definitions and making sure numbers are right. The boring stuff.

Aside form inciting riots on message boards I also do cross country jumping, write ride my bike, hang out with friends and go shopping. But guess which ones I can do during the pregnancy.

I see that most people who roam these forums are from Canada US or UK.

I'm from Malaysia, but I live in Western Australia, and I have been living in Western Australia for over 16 years now.

Outside Otaku Boards, I'm a university student doing Bachelor of Business with a double major in Accounting and International Business. I also like to make websites, AMVs, do manga translations and watch my pet budgerigars and finches.

I'm from north Texas and I am not a fan of our weather at the moment, lol.

I'm enjoying my summer by being here on the Internet and playing video games. I have two books Lord of the Flies and 1984 to read for school (senior year, baby!) which I won't do until maybe the last couple of weeks of summer. I am currently unemployed, but I am getting money by babysitting my nephew. I'm writing a series of books and I have finished the first one, I just have to edit it, but alas, I've been procrastinating. I really should get off my butt and edit it so it can get published.

I'm from Jackson, Ohio, which is in Southeastern Ohio near Athens, if any of you know where that is. I'm a writer, first and foremost, but I'm not professional yet. I'm in the tenth grade. I'm really into music, any kind really. I like an array of artists - some that most of the people at school have never heard of. That's sad, but so are the kids at school.

I'm from Los Lunas, New Mexico, and, well, you should look at my login name to see what I do. I'm a "next generation" Sailor Scout, the only halfdogdemon one! I'm gonna be in the eighth grade this year (hateschoolIhateschoolIHATEITIHATEITIHATEIT!), and for leisure time I practice with my reverse blade sword, or draw, or sing, or the net, or write, or read, or watch anime, or create manga. I'm a creative person! ^^

Heh... was waiting for someone from my continent. I'm from the islands of the Philippines. An IT college student at one of the top 3 and by far the most pricey universities in our country. Am about to finish college if only I could finish my thesis which is about Portal Integration. I'm on leave from school so I can get it done but OB keeps me off track. It's bad but I'm planning on being more disciplined so I can finish all the animes I wanna watch and all the videogames I wanna finish. And maybe get on a cruise before I start working.

That's about it so...Ja!
